Coyotes' Murphy Ends Extended Slump

News: Connor Murphy put a stop to his 11-game point drought Tuesday, notching an assist and going plus-4 with two PIM in a win over Edmonton.
Analysis: The few fantasy owners rolling Gormley out in their lineups surely appreciated that plus-4, which eliminated nearly half his deficit, but his offensive production has been sparse at best; he owns all of five points in 29 games on the year.

Coyotes' Murphy Healthy Scratch Saturday

News: Connor Murphy was a healthy scratch Saturday for the Coyotes, sitting out their game against the Wild. He has been working his way back from an upper body injury and missed two games earlier this month.
Analysis: Connor Murphy was on the ice for two goals in the first period against the Predators on Thursday night and only saw five shifts in the rest of the game. The Coyotes are struggling right now and are looking for anything to turn their run around. Murphy may be back in the lineup for the next game, but there are few guarantees for anyone on the team right now.

Coyotes' Murphy To Return Saturday

News: Connor Murphy (upper body) will be available for Saturday's game against the Bruins, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Connor Murphy was scratched for the Coyotes' previous two games, but he's been skating since Thursday and it sounds like he was able to get in a practice Friday. The young blueliner has four points and a minus-6 rating over 25 games.

Coyotes' Murphy To Miss Thursday's Game

News: Connor Murphy (upper body) won't play Thursday against the Kings.
Analysis: Connor Murphy was skating as an extra during the Coyotes' morning session, so a return wouldn't seem all that far off. Coach Dave Tippett suggested that there was a chance that Murphy could play Saturday versus the Bruins.

Coyotes' Murphy A Game-Time Call Tuesday

News: Connor Murphy (upper body) will be a game-time decision Tuesday against the Flames, Todd Walsh of FOX Sports Arizona reports.
Analysis: Connor Murphy missed the final two periods of Monday's victory over the Oilers with the injury, and with the Coyotes bypassing their morning skate Tuesday, the team won't have a proper assessment of his health until pregame warmups. Chris Summers would slot in on the Coyotes' third pairing if Murphy can't play.

Coyotes Rule Murphy Out Tuesday

News: Connor Murphy (upper body) was scratched for Tuesday's game against the Flames, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: With a short turnaround after he left Monday's game with an injury, Connor Murphy didn't have enough time to regain full health. The Coyotes haven't provided much word on the extent of the injury, so he'll retain the day-to-day label in advance of Thursday's game with the Kings until more information is known.

Coyotes' Murphy Leaves With Injury

News: Connor Murphy will not return to Monday's game against the Oilers after suffering an upper-body injury.
Analysis: It's still undetermined how severe Connor Murphy's injury actually is, although he should be considered day-to-day until further news is released from the Coyotes. Unfortunately for Murphy, Arizona plays the second leg of a back-to-back against the Flames on Tuesday, so he'll need to make a quick recovery to avoid missing anymore time off the ice.

Coyotes' Murphy Picks Up Assist

News: Connor Murphy had an assist and was plus-2 Friday in a win over the Canucks. He added three hits and a blocked shot.
Analysis: Connor Murphy made the transition to the NHL in a 30-game stint last season in which he registered eight points and was plus-5 while skating nearly 18 minutes of ice time per game. He has had a tougher time this year, although this was his fourth point of the year in just 17 games, as his ice time and shots per game are both down. Nevertheless, Murphy (just 21) still has plenty of growth potential as he learns on the fly.

Coyotes' Murphy Gets Two Points

News: Connor Murphy opened the scoring Tuesday, added an assist, went plus-1 and took an interference penalty in a 4-3 loss to the Stars.
Analysis: A heck of a game for the 21-year-old Connor Murphy, who hadn't found his way onto the scoresheet since Ot. 14. The 20th overall pick in 2011, Murphy doesn't have a well-developed offensive game, nor does he get many chances while averaging less than 16 minutes of ice time a game.

Coyotes' Murphy Pots Goal In Victory

News: Connor Murphy potted a goal in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Connor Murphy's was able to wriggle a second-period wrist shot past goalie Ben Scrivens for his first goal of the season and the second of his brief NHL career. The 21-year-old Murphy looks like he could become a long-term mainstay on the Arizona defense, but he's unlikely to develop into a strong fantasy contributor just yet.
