Red Wings' Sproul Banged Up

News: Ryan Sproul is dealing with a shoulder strain and is considered day-to-day, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Ryan Sproul acquired the injury during Monday's game against the Penguins, when he took a hit from defenseman Robert Bortuzzo. He hopes to return to the ice Friday, but it probably won't help his chances of winning an opening night roster spot. The Red Wings seem fairly content with Brian Lashoff operating as their seventh defenseman.
