Sharks Bring Up Tierney

News: Chris Tierney was recalled from AHL Worcester on Thursday, CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz reports.
Analysis: After placing Matt Nieto (ankle) and Mike Brown (lower body) on injured reserve Wednesday, Chris Tierney and defenseman Matt Tennyson were recalled to fill the vacated spots on the roster. Tierney previously made the Sharks' Opening Night roster, accumulating no goals and two assists in 11 games with the big club before his reassignment. He's since sizzled at Worcester (one goal, nine assists in 12 games), but it seems unlikely that level of production will carry over in his return to the Sharks, especially while he remains confined to a bottom-six role.

Sharks Reassign Tierney

News: Chris Tierney has been reassigned to the AHL, according to Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area.
Analysis: Chris Tierney hasn't provided much production with only two points in 11 games on the season. He finds himself as the odd man out following the activation of Tyler Kennedy (upper body) from injured reserve.

Sharks To Scratch Tierney Again

News: Chris Tierney will be a scratch for the second straight game Thursday, according to Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News.
Analysis: Chris Tierney played some good hockey so far, but he's young and the return of James Sheppard may crowd him out of the lineup and see him returning to the AHL to get more ice time.

Sharks' Tierney A Healthy Scratch Tuesday

News: Chris Tierney will be a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Bruins, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: The return of James Sheppard (knee) from injured reserve will result in Chris Tierney's removal from the lineup for the first time this season. Coach Todd McLellan offered some hope that Tuesday's move to the press box wouldn't become a permanent trend for Tierney, suggesting that observers shouldn't "read a whole lot" into the decision. Tierney produced two points and a minus-1 rating over his first six games, while primarily manning the third-line center spot for the Sharks.

Tierney Makes NHL Debut With Sharks

News: Chris Tierney finished with a plus-2 rating and three shots in the Sharks season-opening win over the Kings.
Analysis: Chris Tierney didn't put up gaudy numbers in his debut, but he looked good, getting a number of solid opportunities and drawing a penalty in the second. The production will have to come before you give him fantasy consideration, but he looked like a player you should keep on your watch list.

Tierney On Sharks' Opening Night Roster

News: Chris Tierney appears to have made it through final cuts and will be in the Sharks' lineup for opening night, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Chris Tierney will center a third line that features two rookies. If Tierney can make this work it gives the team a frightening top line with Joe Thornton, Tomas Hertl, and Joe Pavelski. Tierney's going to be given a chance to succeed.
