Biggs Acquired By Penguins In Massive Deal

News: Tyler Biggs (Achilles) was traded Wednesday to the Penguins along with forward Phil Kessel, defenseman Tim Erixon, and a 2016 second-round draft pick in exchange for forwards Nick Spaling, Kasperi Kapanen, defenseman Scott Harrington, and 2016 first- and third-round draft picks, Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Tyler Biggs, 22, is a former first-round draft pick in 2011, but he's widely viewed as a bust at this point. He tore his Achilles while playing with AHL Toronto last season and underwent surgery in March, and it's not certain if he'll be fully healthy by the time the minor-league season kicks off. With his new organization, expect Biggs to settle in as an organizational depth option at forward for AHL Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Leafs Prospect Biggs To Require Achilles Surgery

News: Tyler Biggs will require surgery to repair a partially torn Achilles tendon, Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun reports.
Analysis: A first-round selection by the Leafs in 2011, Tyler Biggs had already been viewed a bust by most standards before the injury surfaced, and now he'll face an even tougher road to the NHL. The Achilles procedure will more than likely spell an end to Biggs' season, his second with AHL Toronto. The 21-year-old mustered only five points in 47 games and projects as little more than a fourth-line player, should he ever reach the parent club.
