Caps' Schmidt Gets In Full Practice

News: Nate Schmidt (head) skated without a non-contact jersey at Thursday's practice, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: With Nate Schmidt no longer facing any limitations after taking a hit to the chin last Sunday, he'll attempt to make a final push for a roster spot. Though he won't play in Thursday's preseason tilt, he's expected to be ready to play in Sunday's exhibition finale against the Hurricanes.

Caps' Schmidt Recovering From Head Injury

News: Nate Schmidt (head) is hoping to return to practice Wednesday, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Nate Schmidt passed all concussion tests after he was laid out by the Habs' Jarred Tinordi in Sunday's preseason contest, and it appears the Capitals are simply proceeding carefully with the blueliner. Even if he's able to take full contact Wednesday, Schmidt is far from a safe bet to secure an Opening Night roster spot.
