Armia One Of Four Players Shipped To Jets On Weds.

News: Joel Armia was one of four players traded to the Jets on Wednesday in exchange for Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian, and prospect Jason Kasdorf, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: The 16th overall pick by the Sabres in 2011, Joel Armia made his NHL debut in December. He was quickly dispatched back to the Sabres' AHL affiliate in Rochester soon thereafter and has continued to thrive in the minors this season, posting 10 goals and 15 assists over 33 games. Expect him to report to AHL St. John's for his new organization, with an opportunity to join the Jets perhaps coming later in the season if injuries compromise the team's depth at forward. Armia possesses tons of potential and was one of AHL Rochester's best players all season. He'll battle for a top-six role in training camp next season.

Sabres' Armia Has Lower-Body Injury

News: Joel Armia suffered a lower-body injury while playing with AHL Rochester and is expected to miss at least a week of action, Rob Sanderson of FOX Sports 1280 reports.
Analysis: The injury will put Joel Armia out of the running for a promotion to the big club in the near-term, though it's possible the Sabres wouldn't have needed a call-up anyway. The injury shouldn't detract from what has been an excellent season for the winger, who has eight goals and 18 points over 23 games with Rochester.

Sabers Assign Armia To AHL

News: Joel Armia was assigned to AHL Rochester on Wednesday.
Analysis: Joel Armia dressed for the Sabres against the Red Wings on Tuesday, but will head back to the AHL with the probable returns of multiple forwards for Saturday's game against the Islanders.

Sabres Recall Armia

News: Joel Armia was recalled from AHL Rochester on Tuesday and is set to make his NHL debut later in the evening against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Joel Armia received the call due to Brian Gionta's head injury and a group of forwards also dealing with day-to-day issues. He skated on the first line with Zemgus Girgensons and Tyler Ennis at the team's morning skate and figures to be deployed their against the Red Wings, which could make him a sneaky play in daily formats right off the bat.

Sabres' Armia May Get Call-up

News: Joel Armia is a good candidate to receive a call-up, reports the Olean Times Herald.
Analysis: With Brian Gionta reeling from a head injury and 10 players in the infirmary, Joel Armia may get his call-up very soon. The team has already called up Tim Schaller, but that may not be enough for the depleted Sabres. Armia has played very well this year and is one of AHL Rochester's most dangerous offensive weapons. The former 16th overall pick is a talented sniper and should give the Sabres some offensive punch. He's got the potential but needs to build a track record in the NHL to be a viable fantasy option.

Sabres' Armia In Line For Promotion

News: A strong performance from Joel Armia in the AHL on Friday could lead to a promotion, reports Kevin Oklobzija of the Democrat and Chronicle.
Analysis: The Sabres have 11 healthy forwards, which means a call-up will be needed for Saturday's game. Joel Armia returns from a mid-body injury Friday after scoring 15 points in 19 games, a significant improvement from his rookie campaign (7 goals in 54 games). If Armia is called up, Saturday will mark his NHL debut three years after getting drafted 16th overall and will likely slot in on the right wing on one of the team's top three lines. If not Armia, center Mikhail Grigorenko will likely get another game after making his season debut against Winnipeg.

Sabres' Armia Passed Over In Promotion

News: With Joel Armia battling an upper-body injury, the Sabres have elected to call up Tim Schaller in place of the injured Drew Stafford.
Analysis: The promotion for Schaller is well deserved, but had Joel Armia been healthy he would've been the likely call-up. The Finnish sniper has 15 points in 19 games in the AHL this year, a nice bounce back after an injury-plagued rookie season. The Sabres haven't given up on Armia yet, but he'll just have to wait a little longer to make his NHL debut.

Buffalo's Armia Off To Hot Start In AHL

News: Joel Armia is off to a quick start with Rochester (AHL) with 10 points in his first 11 games.
Analysis: Joel Armia struggled mightily last season, his first in North America, with just 27 points in 54 games. He was selected in the first round of the 2011 Entry Draft due to his offensive abilities, so it's nice to see him getting his game back together. If he continues to play well there's an outside chance he could see some NHL duty later this season.

Sabres Assign Armia to AHL

News: Joel Armia was one of seven players cut by the Sabres on Tuesday.
Analysis: Joel Armia was a long-shot to make the team and his demotion the AHL is no surprise. The talented Finnish sniper had a frustrating rookie season last year, scoring just seven goals in 53 games for the Amerks last year. He needs to work on his core strength before he can compete in the NHL. Armia will likely stay in Rochester for the whole season as he continues to get acclimated to North America. He is expected to be one of the Amerks' top offensive forwards.

Sabres' Armia To Play Sunday

News: Head coach Ted Nolan says Joel Armia will play Sunday, reports the Olean Times Herald.
Analysis: The Sabres played veteran-laden teams in their past two exhibition games and will play youngsters Sunday in a re-match against the Leafs. The talented Finnish sniper is not expected to make the team but should be able to showcase some of his game-breaking talent nonetheless. He's a guy to keep an eye on in keeper leagues.
