Flyers' Raffl Collects Two Points In Win

News: Michael Raffl bagged a goal and a helper in Saturday's 7-4 win over Toronto.
Analysis: He must have read our last post and adjusted his offense as a result. Still, he'll need more consistent production to become a regular fixture in fantasy formats. But if he happened to be in your lineup, two points are always nice. The question is, "Why is he in your lineup?"

Flyers' Raffl Not Finding Scoresheet Often

News: Michael Raffl has managed only two points -- both goals -- in 12 games since Nov. 1.
Analysis: The winger started the year with seven points in his first 10 games, and his production has dropped considerably since then. His shot percentage continues to hover above last year's average, so a continued decline isn't out of the question.

Flyers' Raffl Collects First Point Since Return

News: Michael Raffl scored the opening goal in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout loss to Anaheim.
Analysis: The winger is averaging about a half point per game this season. Still, at 17.9%, his shot percentage is hovering well above average, so that average may drop in the coming weeks.

Flyers' Raffl (Ankle) To Return Wednesday

News: Michael Raffl (ankle) will return to the starting lineup Wednesday against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Michael Raffl will make his return to the lineup a bit earlier than expected, as he wasn't fully expected to return to action until this weekend. He skated in Wednesday's morning skate, however, and felt well enough during pregame warmups to give it a go. He'll likely return to his regular role at left wing on the Flyers' second line.

Flyers Activate Raffl

News: Michael Raffl (ankle) was activated from injured reserve Wednesday in advance of the Flyers' game against the Red Wings.
Analysis: The 25-year-old enjoyed a spot on the top line with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek prior to missing the past eight games with the injury, but it looks like Michael Raffl will settle in on the Flyers' second trio in his return Wednesday. Chris VandeVelde (lower body) was moved to IR to open up a roster spot for Raffl.

Flyers' Raffl Likely To Return Wednesday

News: Michael Raffl (ankle) was a full participant at the Flyers' morning skate and looks on tap to play Wednesday against the Red Wings, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Raffl hadn't been expected to return to action until the weekend, but the Flyers evidently upgraded his status after he was able to practice Tuesday without any apparent issues. He hasn't been activated from IR yet and will officially enter Wednesday's contest as a game-time decision, but coach Craig Berube said that Raffl will play on a line with Scott Laughton and Wayne Simmonds barring a setback during pregame warmups. Raffl who has six goals in 12 games, has missed the Flyers' previous eight games with the ankle issue.

Flyers' Raffl An Option For Friday Or Saturday

News: Michael Raffl (ankle) may return to action as soon as Friday against the Rangers, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: The Flyers seemed to be targeting a Saturday return for Michael Raffl initially, but ended up making a slight adjustment after he practiced Tuesday for the first time since suffering the injury approximately three weeks ago. The young winger showed strong rapport with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek in the early going, so it seems likely coach Craig Berube would plug him back in on the top line once he's deemed healthy.

Flyers' Raffl Could Play Saturday

News: Michael Raffl (lower body) could play Saturday against the Rangers, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Raffl is expected to skate with the team Tuesday, but won't be available for any of the team's next three games. The winger potted six goals and an assist in 12 games before getting hurt, but hasn't been in the lineup since Nov. 4.

Flyers Place Raffl On IR

News: Michael Raffl (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: Michael Raffl is expected to miss around four more weeks while recovering from the lower-body injury, so the move to IR will not affect his recovery timetable. It appears the transaction was made in order for the Flyers to activate Andrew MacDonald in advance of Thursday's loss to the Wild.

Flyers' Raffl (Lower Body) Out Six Weeks

News: Michael Raffl (lower body) has been ruled out for six weeks, Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: It's believed that Michael Raffl is dealing with a foot injury, which he likely sustained while blocking a shot during the third period Tuesday's victory over the Oilers. Raffl had solidified a spot on the Flyers' top line with a team-leading six goals before the injury, but it looks like Chris VandeVelde will receive the first shot at replacing the Austrian winger, after skating in his spot at Wednesday's practice. It's more likely, however, that Brayden Schenn, who started the season alongside Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek before being replaced by Raffl, will eventually reclaim the spot on the top line before long. Look for Raffl to make his return to the Flyers at some point in late December.

Flyers' Raffl Suffers Lower-Body Injury Tuesday

News: Michael Raffl suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday's 4-1 victory over the Oilers, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: The young Austrian failed to collect a point in the victory, but managed to finish with a plus-2 rating while only seeing 12:41 of action due to the injury. Michael Raffl has been a pleasant surprise this season on the Flyers' top trio with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek, and his injury could force coach Ken Berube to shuffle his lines if he ends up missing some time. The Flyers aren't expected to offer information regarding the severity of the injury until Wednesday.

Four Goals In Three Games For Flyers' Raffl

News: Michael Raffl found the back of the net for the third consecutive game in Thursday's loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: He's got four goals on nine shots over that three-game span and six markers on the year. Michael Raffl's sky-high shooting percentage says this luck is bound to balance out, but it's hard to ignore the offensive contributions he's made early on here. The Flyers' offense has awoken, and that should only help Raffl, so he's worth a speculative add at minimum.

Flyers' Raffl Nets Another Goal

News: Michael Raffl scored his fifth goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over Los Angeles.
Analysis: His fifth goal came after a two-goal performance against Detroit. Michael Raffl seems to be settling in comfortably in his second season. If the Flyers continue to heat up, Raffl could be poised to cash in on even more points.

Flyers' Raffl: Three-Point Night

News: Michael Raffl scored two goals and added an assist in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Red Wings.
Analysis: The winger has four goals and an assist in his last six games -- that's enough to warrant consideration in deep leagues. He's not likely to be a high-end fantasy contributor, but he is a guy who can can contribute in a lesser fantasy role.

Philly's Raffl Scores In Overtime Win

News: Michael Raffl sniped the game-tying goal in the third period of Saturday's 6-5 win over the Stars.
Analysis: Michael Raffl has two goals to start the season. He scored just nine in 68 appearances last season, so this is a strong start for the European import. If he can translate his Swedish-league success to the NHL, he has the potential to bag enough points to be relevant in a wide variety of formats.

Flyers' Raffl Bags Goal In Defeat

News: Michael Raffl came away with his first goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Habs.
Analysis: Elevated to the top line Saturday, Michael Raffl took advantage of the opportunity, scoring one of two Philadelphia goals in an 18-second span in the first period. Raffl may not permanently stick next to Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek, but he might have earned himself at least another one-game trial on the line following Saturday's performance.
