Sabres' Morrisonn Clears Waivers

News: Shaone Morrisonn has cleared waivers and was assigned to Rochester (AHL) on Monday, the Sabres' official Twitter feed reports.
Analysis: The blue-line depth in Buffalo is a strength right now, so Shaone Morrisonn will suit up with the Americans for at least the early portion of the season.

Sabres Waive Morrisonn

News: Shaone Morrisonn was put on waivers Saturday, according to a report on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada.
Analysis: It's a cap move for sure -- the Sabres need to cut over $3 million off the ledger before the season begins. He's not worthy of fantasy consideration any way.

Sabres' Morrisonn Likley Odd Man Out Most Nights

News: Shaone Morrisonn, part of a ferocious battle at defense going on at Sabres' training camp, appears to be one of the two guys likely to sit out most nights if the defensive corps is healthy.
Analysis: Shaone Morrisonn had some injury issues last season, and when he did play his impact was far from remarkable. It's far from an indictment on the veteran, but the Sabres are stocked on the blue line.

News: Morrisonn (upper body) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Philadelphia, Sabres.NHL.com reports.

Morrisonn Out For Buffalo

News: Morrisonn (undisclosed) won't play against Philadelphia on Saturday, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Morrisonn hasn't been too impressive for Buffalo lately, so his absence shouldn't have a big impact.

Sabres' Morrisonn Disappointed In His Play

News: Morrisonn turned in a minus-3 rating in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Maple Leafs, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: "It was a game where I just want to throw it in the garbage because it just wasn't there," Morrisonn said. "The focus wasn't there. It's a tough way to play a game. It can't happen again." Aside from the poor rating on the night, Morrison is only averaging one point for every 12 games played in 2010-11.

Morrisonn Scores First Goal As A Sabre

News: Morrisonn scored the winner in overtime on Tuesday night, his first goal since joining the Sabres as a free agent over the summer.
Analysis: It took a little longer than Morrisonn and the Sabres expected, but, he has missed time with injuries, and he never has been an offensive defenseman. The goal moved the Sabres within four points of the final playoff spot in the East.

Sabres' Morrisonn Cleared For Contact, Unavailable Thursday

News: Morrisonn (concussion) has been cleared for contact but will not play Thursday when the Sabres host the Panthers, the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Even though he won't lace up his skates Thursday, Morrisonn being able to take contact is a huge step forward in his recovery from the concussion, originally sustained on Dec. 3.

Sabres' Morrisonn Skates With Team on Friday

News: Morrisonn (concussion) lightly skated with the team at their morning practice Friday, according to The Buffalo News.
Analysis: In 21 games, Morrisonn has two assists and is a minus-10 for the Sabres, who really have not suffered in his absence.

Sabres' Morrisonn Not Close

News: Morrisonn (concussion) has yet to even resume light exercise and remains out indefinitely for the Sabres, according to The Buffalo News.
Analysis: It's a scary situation for Morrisonn, with every subsequent report almost getting worse.

Sabres' Morrisonn Out at Least One Week

News: Morrisonn will be out for at least a week, and maybe longer with what now looks like post-concussion symptoms, according to The Buffalo News.
Analysis: It started innocently enough, with an elbow to the head on Friday night. Morrisonn even played in the first period against Montreal the following night before leaving the game. He missed Tuesday night's game and the Sabres are now erring on the side of caution.

Concussion Symptoms for Buffalo's Morrisonn

Analysis: Morrisonn practiced Monday and was cleared by a doctor, but his symptoms must have worsened because he's now expected to miss at least a week and possibly longer.

Sabres' Morrisonn Practices Monday

News: Morrisonn (head) was able to practice Monday, WGR 550 Sports Radio reports.
Analysis: "Shaone's doing good," coach Lindy Ruff said. "He was checked by the doctor today with just a little bit of neck issues, but he's ready to go." It sounds like Morrisonn will be able to play Tuesday against the Bruins.

Sabres' Morrisonn Exits in Second Period

News: Morrisonn (head) left during the second period of Saturday night's 1-0 win over Ottawa, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Morrisonn took an elbow to the head from Columbus' Jared Boll on Friday night, and the lingering effects of that hit led him to an early exit on Saturday. There is no word yet as to his availability for Tuesday night's game in Boston.

Sabres' Morrisonn Sees Some Bench Time

News: Morrisonn sat the final 6:51 of regulation and nearly all of overtime (except one shift) against Toronto on Saturday because coach Lindy Ruff said he needed more mobility on the blue line, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Morrisonn has never had over 14 points in a season and with one in nine games with his new team, it doesn't look like he's going to break through to a new plane. He's good for some penalty minutes, blocks and hits, but you're not going to get much in the offensive categories.

Buffalo's Morrisonn Back in Action Friday

News: Morrisonn skated just over 16 minutes in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss in Atlanta.
Analysis: Morrisonn started the season with a 21+ minute game before seeing his ice time drop steadily over the next three games before being hurt. He doesn't offer much offensively, but could help a team in a deeper league that rewards penalty minutes.

Sabres' Morrisonn Returning to Lineup Friday

News: Morrisonn (groin) will return to the lineup for Friday night's game in Atlanta, according to The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Morrisonn does not provide a lot of offenive pop to the lineup. His fantasy value, which is fairly low to begin with, could be even lower if the Sabres continue to struggle with keeping pucks out of their net.

Sabres' Morrisonn Eyeing Return Soon

News: Morrisonn (groin) made it through Monday's practice without too much difficulty but is unlikely to play in Tuesday's game against the Flyers, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Morrisonn is looking at more of a weekend return. He hasn't played since October 13, and Chris Butler has done pretty well in his absence, so there's no rush here.

Sabres' Morrisonn Still Not Ready for Action

News: Morrisonn tested his groin injury prior to Tuesday's practice, but he will miss his third straight game Wednesday against Atlanta, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: The Sabres are pretty deep on the blue line, so this isn't a huge loss. The bigger problem on this team right now is scoring goals. Anyway, Morrisonn sounds like he'll be back fairly soon.

Sabres' Morrisonn Out with Groin Injury

News: Morrisonn will likely miss Buffalo's next two games because of a groin injury, Sabres.com reports.
Analysis: Morrisonn suffered the injury during Wednesday's game and is expected to sit out Friday against Montreal and Saturday against Chicago. After that, he'll have a few more days to recover before possibly returning to action Wednesday against the Thrashers. With Morrisonn out, either Chris Butler or Mike Weber will likely step into the lineup.

Morrisonn on Top D Unit for Sabres

News: Morrisonn will team up with Calder Trophy winner Tyler Myers as Buffalo's top defensive pairing to start the season Friday night in Ottawa.
Analysis: Morrisonn's stay-at-home style is the perfect compliment to Myers' more offensive approach. He doesn't figure to pop up on the score sheet that often, but his time on the ice will majorly increase compared to what he was seeing last year in Washington.

Morrisonn Getting Time in Sabres Top D Unit

News: Morrisonn, who Lindy Ruff said has played "really well" early on in camp, is being paired with rookie of the year Tyler Myers in the top defensive pairing for the Sabres thus far in camp, according to The Buffalo News.
Analysis: While it is unlikely that Morrisonn would pair Myers on the power play, it does mean more ice time for the Sabres newcomer, which should increase his offensive production somewhat.
