Jets' Thorburn Scores Goal In Win

News: Chris Thorburn scored his second goal of the season in Tuesday's victory over the Sabres.
Analysis: As his two points in 31 games would suggest, Chris Thorburn isn't someone the Jets are looking to for offense most nights. Instead, he'll carry most of his value as a grinder on the checking line and a leader in the locker room.

Jets' Thorburn Re-Signs On Three-Year Deal

News: Chris Thorburn (ankle) has re-signed with the Jets on a three-year contract, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The deal carries an average annual value of $1.2 million for a player who will likely spend a good portion of the upcoming season skating on the fourth line. Chris Thorburn's 2013-14 campaign ended in March because of a fractured talus in his ankle, but he should have enough time to get healthy for training camp, after scoring just 11 points in 55 games last season. Now that the veteran winger is signed, perhaps the Jets will provide an update on his injury.

Jets' Thornburn Out With Fractured Talus

News: Thornburn is out indefinitely with a fractured talus, according to Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun.
Analysis: For those who don't know, the talus is at the lower part of the ankle joint near the top of the foot. Thornburn will have more tests done and a recovery game plan will be made then. The Jets will likely update his condition soon.

Jets' Thorburn Leaves Injured Friday

News: Chris Thorburn left Friday's game early in the first period with an undisclosed injury.
Analysis: While the exact nature of the injury remained unknown, Chris Thorburn had just returned from an upper-body injury just a few days prior, so it could just be an aggravation of the same thing. He should be considered day-to-day, but expect the team to update his condition soon.

Jets' Thorburn Ready To Return

News: Chris Thorburn (upper body) is healthy enough to return to the lineup.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn has amassed a line of 2/9/11 through 53 games this season, and has also chipped in 65 PIM. He's not the most productive player out there, but he can certainly help team's in leagues where penalty minutes are weighted heavily.

Jets' Thorburn Day-To-Day

News: Chris Thorburn's upper body injury is not serious, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn has registered two goals and nine assists in 53 games to date, and while it's good news that his injury is not serious, there's still no word on his status for Thursday's game against the Kings.

Jets' Thorburn Suffers Upper Body Injury

News: Chris Thorburn sustained an upper body injury in Tuesday's loss to the Islanders, the teams' official site reports.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn only saw 48 seconds of ice team before sustaining the injury, and will be evaluated tomorrow by the teams' medical staff. As of this moment, his status for Thursday's matchup against the Kings is up in the air.

Jets Thorburn Scores Goal In 2-1 Victory

News: Chris Thorburn scored a goal on his only shot in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over the Canes.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn supplied just his second goal of the season, and likely shouldn't be counted on as a feasible source of goals or points moving forward.

Two Rare Points For Jets' Thorburn

News: Chris Thorburn collected a pair of assists -- his first points in seven games and just his sixth and seventh points of the season -- in Thursday's win over Calgary.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn remains without a goal in 39 contests this season, and with a career high of 19 points, he's not worth much in fantasy outside of his halfway-decent contributions in PIM and hits.

Jets' Thornburn Chips In Two Assists Monday

News: Chris Thorburn supplied two assists in Monday's win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Elevated to a top-six role Monday due to a lower-body injury to Evander Kane, Chris Thorburn came away with his first points in 19 games for the Jets. Thorburn will likely slot back in on the second line Thursday with Kane likely to remain unavailable, but don't expect the promotion to last much longer beyond that.

Jets' Thorburn Scoreless In Return From IR

News: Chris Thorburn hasn't scored in either of the two games he's suited up for since returning from injured reserve Sunday.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn has seen just over 10 minutes of ice time in the two games combined, so he couldn't have really been expected to contribute. He should continue to see only light minutes and hold minimal fantasy value.

Jets' Thorburn To Travel With Team

News: Chris Thorburn (lower body) will travel with the team on their upcoming road trip, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn has been skating since last week. He may not be activated on this road trip, but simply being able to travel with the Jets is a step in the right direction.

Jets' Thorburn Skates On Own Wednesday

News: Chris Thorburn (lower body) skated on his own Wednesday, Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn's half-hour session with conditioning coach Lee Stubbs appeared to be positive, with coach Claude Noel remarking that the forward was "more than day-to-day, but not too far off." It doesn't sound as though Thorburn's stay on injured reserve will be a long one.

Jets' Thorburn Not Traveling To Minnesota

News: Chris Thorburn (lower body) will not play in the team's game against Minnesota on Thursday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Coach Claude Noel didn't have an update on Chris Thorburn's status, so we'll still consider him day-to-day at this point. Although he does have a goal this season, Thorburn is considered a grinder in the NHL and has just 86 points in 470 career games. With that in mind, he's not worthy of a spot on a fantasy roster.

Jets' Thorburn Misses Practice

News: Chris Thorburn missed Tuesday's practice with a lower body injury, the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Head coach Claude Noel didn't give much information on the mysterious injury, so there's no word on the severity at this point. Chris Thorburn doesn't provide much fantasy value other than his ability to rack up some PIMs, and has yet to score a point this season.

Jets' Thorburn Expected To Play Friday

News: Chris Thorburn is expected to take the ice Friday after being a healthy scratch Tuesday, TSN reports.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn's return is unlikely to help many fantasy owners, as he has just one point (one goal) so far this season.

Jets' Thorburn Tallies First Goal Of Season

News: Chris Thorburn recorded a goal and a plus-1 rating in Monday's shootout loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn only registered 9:47 TOI, but was still able to score Winnipeg's lone goal less than two minutes into the game. Although he's never scored more than 18 points in an NHL season, Thorburn, who recorded a 4/7/11 line in 72 games last season, has racked up 521 PIMs in 427 career NHL games.

Winnipeg's Thorburn To Return Saturday

News: Chris Thorburn, who was sidelined for most of March with a lower-body injury, will make his return to action Saturday night in Tampa, Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Hopefully, all that time away has built up some aggravation in Chris Thorburn, which in turn will translate to a fight. Only Mark Stuart has more penalty minutes for the Jets this season.

Jets' Thorburn May Return Saturday

News: Jets coach Claude Noel said on Friday morning that Chris Thorburn (lower body injury) would likely be in the lineup on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the reports.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn skated with the team at practice but did not play with them on Friday. It looks as if he will be ready for action though this weekend. However, with just 10 points over 68 games played, it's not like you have to rush out and add him. Maybe if you need PIM, but that's about it.

Jets' Thorburn Sidelined

News: Chris Thorburn (lower body) won't play Friday against the Hurricanes, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Beyond that, Chris Thorburn, who at least will travel with the Jets for Friday's game, slots into the day-to-day category.

Jets' Thorburn (Lower Body) Returns To Practice

News: Chris Thorburn (lower body) was able to practice with the team Tuesday morning, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Though the progress is encouraging, Chris Thorburn is not likely to return to action before the weekend. Consider him day-to-day.

Jets' Thorburn (Lower Body) Out At Least Three Weeks

News: Chris Thorburn will be out for at least three weeks with a lower body injury, according to the Winnipeg Free Press.
Analysis: The news was confirmed by head coach Claude Noel after Saturday's optional skate. Chris Thorburn, a member of Winnipeg's gritty "GST" line along with Tanner Glass and Jim Slater, was injured during Friday's loss to the Flames. Fantasy-wise, it will likely be his 81 penalty minutes rather than his 10 points that will be missed. But this is more of a blow to the Jets as a team as he was one of their most prominent leaders both on and off the ice.

Winnipeg's Thorburn Reaches Four Goals

News: Chris Thorburn netted the last of Winnipeg's three goals Monday night, securing a victory over the visiting Sabres.
Analysis: Though the journeyman veteran has accumulated three points in his last five games, Chris Thorburn is not likely to break into Winnipeg's top two offensive lines anytime soon. Monday's score was certainly a beauty, but the feat will probably not repeat in the near future.

Winnipeg's Thorburn Adds Third Goal

News: Chris Thorburn netted his third goal of the season Tuesday night as the Jets fell to the Islanders, 3-1.
Analysis: Chris Thorburn has been a pleasant surprise amidst an otherwise disappointing second half for the Jets. If he continues to capitalize on the little ice time he sees, he has a shot at supplanting Alex Burmistrov as one of the club's top six forwards.

Jets' Thorburn Finds Second Goal Of Season

News: Chris Thorburn, who did not light the lamp from the start of the regular season until January 31, now has two goals in his last five games.
Analysis: That's two goals off of four shots, a field shooting percentage any basketball player would be content with. If Chris Thorburn continues to produce at this pace, he may find himself a spot among the club's top six forwards, which would in turn lead to more opportunities.
