Stars' Hemsky Resumes Skating

News: Ales Hemsky (hip) resumed skating at the Stars' facility in Frisco, Texas on Monday. "I am doing pretty good," Hemsky said. "[My hip has] been two months, maybe a little more, and I skated for the first time. It feels pretty good for two months, and we still have a long way to go, but I am on schedule, maybe ahead of schedule."
Analysis: After signing a three-year deal with the Stars last summer, Ales Hemsky was a bit of a disappointment in his first season in Big D, recording only 11 goals and 31 points in 76 games. Hemsky's production may have been impacted in part by the hip issue, but after undergoing surgery in April, he's hoping that entering 2015-16 at full health will help elevate his performance. Hemsky is expected to assume a spot on the Stars' second or third line during the coming season.

Stars' Hemsky Has Surgery Monday

News: Ales Hemsky underwent surgery on his hip Monday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: The winger is expected to require 4-to-5 months of recovery time, potentially putting him behind the rest of the Stars when training camp commences in September. Ales Hemsky's first season in Dallas was a bit of disappointment with 11 goals and 32 points in 76 games, but it's possible playing through the hip injury may have compromised his productivity.

Stars' Hemsky To Have Hip Surgery

News: Ales Hemsky is slated to undergo offseason hip surgery, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Ales Hemsky's recovery time will be about four months, which puts him on track to be ready for action in advance of the 2015-16 campaign. In 76 games for the Stars this past season, Hemsky tallied 11 goals and 32 points to go along with 16 PIM.

Stars' Hemsky Pots Two Goals Wednesday

News: Ales Hemsky potted two goals in Wednesday's shootout win over the Flames.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky's markers came in the first and final minute of the second period. With six points in his last six contests, Hemsky makes for an attractive pickup for those in deeper leagues looking for a scoring boost down the stretch.

Stars' Hemsky Picks Up Two Helpers

News: Ales Hemsky collected two assists in Friday's win over the Capitals.
Analysis: A much-needed offensive outburst from Ales Hemsky, who had gone eight straight games without a point. While he's been inconsistent this season, he's managed 29 points and is currently skating on the second line with Jason Spezza. While he's capable of producing, his hot and cold streaks make him unappealing in most fantasy leagues.

Stars' Hemsky A Question Mark Friday

News: Ales Hemsky missed Wednesday's practice with an unspecified injury and is uncertain to play Friday against the Avalanche, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky saw close to his average amount of ice time in Tuesday's loss to the Jets, but it's possible he might have sustained the injury at some point and played through it. The winger previously returned from a lower-body injury last weekend and had scored three points in his first two games back before being held off the score sheet Tuesday.

Hemsky Adds Assist In Stars Loss

News: Ales Hemsky had an assist and 13:54 of ice time in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky was questionable to play Sunday, but made it into the lineup. It looks like he'll be in the lineup again on Tuesday, so there isn't anything for owners to be concerned about at the moment as far as his injury. Hemsky has a goal and four assists in his last four full games.

News: Ales Hemsky is questionable for Sunday's game against the Wild, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.

Stars' Hemsky Picks Up Two Helpers

News: Ales Hemsky returned to action Saturday, racking up two assists in a loss to Detroit.
Analysis: Skating on the top line, Ales Hemsky has managed two goals and seven points in his last nine games. He's starting to look more motivated, so if you're looking to add a player in a deeper league, Hemsky could be your guy. The former 70-point-getter is becoming a decent offensive contributor to a Stars team that has incurred just two regulation losses in their last seven games.

Stars' Hemsky Set To Play Saturday

News: Ales Hemsky (lower body) has been cleared to play Saturday against the Red Wings, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky took part in Friday's optional practice without incident, clearing the way for his return to the lineup after a three-game absence. Brendan Ranford will likely head back to the press box as a healthy scratch to make room for Hemsky.

Stars' Hemsky Expected Back Saturday

News: Coach Lindy Ruff indicated after Thursday's game that he's expecting to have Ales Hemsky available for Saturday's game against the Red Wings, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports. "[Hemsky] was close [Thursday] so he'll probably be a player on Saturday," Ruff said. "Back-to-back, I don't know but he should be a player Saturday."
Analysis: Ales Hemsky took part in the Stars' morning skate session Thursday but wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups later in the evening, keeping him out of a third straight game. With another positive practice session Friday, Hemsky should be able to reclaim his spot on the Stars' second line.

Stars' Hemsky (Lower Body) Won't Play Thursday

News: Ales Hemsky (lower body) was not on the ice for pregame warmups, indicating he won't play Thursday, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky has missed each of the last two games because of the injury, and that absence will stretch to three Thursday. Brendan Ranford will draw into the lineup in his place, making his NHL debut against the Sharks.

Stars' Hemsky Looks To Be Out Thursday

News: Ales Hemsky (lower body) was on the ice for the Stars' morning skate session Thursday, but appears likely to sit out for the game later in the evening against the Sharks, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky took line rushes with the fourth line, but was rotating in with AHL call-up Brendan Ranford. After the session concluded, Hemsky stuck around for extra skating, suggesting that he's not quite healthy enough to play just yet. An official determination on his status should become available during pregame warmups.

Stars' Hemsky Questionable For Thursday

News: Ales Hemsky (lower body) is iffy for Thursday's game against the Sharks, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Analysis: Per coach Lindy Ruff, Ales Hemsky -- who last played on Feb. 13 -- has a 50-50 chance to suit up for Thursday's game. The winger returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since suffering the lower-body injury last Friday.

Stars' Hemsky (Lower Body) Won't Travel With Team

News: Ales Hemsky (lower body) didn't practice Monday and won't travel with the team as they embark to St. Louis for a game Tuesday against the Blues, Mike Heika of Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: While the news rules Ales Hemsky out for Tuesday's game against the Blues, the team returns home for their next contest Thursday against the Sharks. That date still stands as a potential return date for the winger, but his practice habits leading up to the game should give owners a little better indication of his status.

Stars' Hemsky Could Be Out Less Than A Week

News: Coach Lindy Ruff said Saturday that Ales Hemsky would require a procedure to address the lower-body injury he suffered in Friday's win over the Panthers, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports. Hemsky could still return to action at some point next week.
Analysis: Of the three Stars forwards who exited Friday with injuries, Ales Hemsky appears to be dealing with the least severe situation, as the team chose not to place him on injured reserve. Hemsky will be unavailable Saturday against the Avalanche and probably won't be ready to go in time for Tuesday's tilt with the Blues, but if he's able to resume skating in the next few days, his return could come later in the upcoming week.

Stars' Hemsky Leaves Game With Lower-Body Injury

News: Ales Hemsky suffered a lower-body injury early in the first period of Friday's win over Florida and did not return. "He's going to miss some time," coach Lindy Ruff said afterward.
Analysis: An update on Ales Hemsky was not available after the game, but we're expected to know more Saturday. He didn't travel with the team to Colorado for Saturday's game, however, indicating he'll be sidelined for at least that contest. Hemsky, who has nine goals and 23 points in 52 games, was one of three Stars forwards to leave Friday's win with an injury.

News: Ales Hemsky left Friday's game against the Panthers in the second period with a lower-body injury and is questionable to return.

Stars' Hemsky Sinks Rangers In OT

News: Ales Hemsky scored the overtime-winning goal and had an assist on Sunday against the Rangers.
Analysis: Skating on the second line with Jason Spezza, Ales Hemsky has turned things around after a slow start. The 31-year-old has two goals and five points in his last six games and has recorded 21 points in his last 32 games. Given his track history and current top-six role, Hemsky is definitely worth looking at in deeper formats right now.

News: Ales Hemsky had an assist on the Stars second goal against the Avalanche on Tuesday.
