Hemsky Signs With Stars

News: The Stars have signed Ales Hemsky to a contract that is reportedly worth $12 million over the next three years, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky, who notched 43 points in 75 games between the Oilers and Senators in 2013-14, further bolsters the Stars' scoring depth up front after the team traded for Jason Spezza -- his teammate in Ottawa last year -- earlier Tuesday.

Sens, Hemsky Will Part Ways

News: Ales Hemsky will not be back with the Senators next season, the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky refused the team's most recent offer, so the two sides will part ways as Hemsky looks for north of $5.5 million per year. He'll become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and the Senators will have to look elsewhere for another scoring winger.

Hemsky's Future With Sens Uncertain

News: Ales Hemsky finished the season with 13 goals and 30 assists in 75 games.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky was brought over from the Oilers at the trade deadline, and played really well after the trade, racking up 17 points in 20 appearances for the Senators. He'll be an unrestricted free agent this summer, so there's no guarantee he'll be back with Ottawa, but if the team can manage to keep him and Jason Spezza together, Hemsky could be a valuable fantasy asset in 2014-15.

Hemsky's Three Points Help Power Sens

News: Ales Hemsky assisted on Jason Spezza's two goals (one on the power play) and scored one of his own in Tuesday's win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky continues to look like a new man since coming over to Ottawa, having posted 16 points in 17 contests. He's also got a break-even rating as a Senator after Tuesday's plus-1; Hemsky was a career-worst-tying minus-13 with the Oilers prior to being dealt.

Sens' Hemsky Suiting Up Vs. Rangers

News: Ales Hemsky (upper body) will play in Saturday's game against the Rangers, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky wasn't mentioned by name, but the Sens will reportedly have all their players available besides Colin Greening (lower body), with the obvious exception of any skaters that have already been ruled out for the season. Hemsky potted a goal in Friday's game before he left with a minor upper-body injury.

Sens' Hemsky Suffers Upper-Body Injury

News: Ales Hemsky suffered an upper-body injury during Friday's game and will not return, James Gordon of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky at least found twine before he left the game, bringing his points total to 13 (three goals) through 15 appearances with the Senators.

Hemsky Back On Ottawa Scoresheet

News: Ales Hemsky assisted on one of Ottawa's five goals in Friday's win over Chicago, his first point in four games.
Analysis: After Ales Hemsky grabbed seven points in his first four games with the Senators following the deadline day trade, he's essentially vanished. Since that binge, Hemsky has a goal and an assist in seven games. He's been streaky throughout his career, but his skills have never been questioned, just his production. You know what you'll be getting with Hemsky, so don't be surprised to see him vanish here and there.

Senators' Hemsky Notches Three Assists

News: Ales Hemsky had three helpers Monday against the Predators.
Analysis: That is back-to-back games with three assists for Ales Hemsky, who is also now plus-3 since moving from Edmonton to Ottawa.

Sens' Hemsky Dishes Out Three Assists In Win

News: Ales Hemsky assisted on three of the Senators' five goals in Saturday's win over the Jets.
Analysis: Playing in just his second game with the Senators, it didn't take long for Ales Hemsky to settle in and play productively on the wing. Hemsky was initially credited with the first four-assist game by an Ottawa player since Daniel Alfredsson turned the trick in March of 2010, but the official scorekeeper ended up attributing the helper to a different player after further review.

Hemsky To Play For Sens On Wednesday

News: Ales Hemsky, who was traded to the Senators hours earlier, will join the team in Calgary and plans to play in Wednesday's game.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky hasn't had the luxury of practicing with his teammates yet, so it will probably be difficult to get a read for what line he'll ultimately skate on for the Senators in his first game with the team. The Senators are certainly aware of what kind of impact Hemsky can provide offensively, as he scored two goals against Ottawa in his final game with the Oilers on Tuesday.

Senators Acquire Hemsky

News: The Senators acquired Ales Hemsky from the Oilers on Wednesday in exchange for a third-round pick in 2015 and a fifth-round pick in 2014, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky scored two goals against the Senators on Tuesday night, which apparently was enough to entice Ottawa into trading for him. The winger has nine goals and 17 assists in 55 games on the year, and will replace Cory Conacher on the active roster after Conacher was claimed off waivers by the Sabres on Wednesday.

Hemsky Ending Oilers Career On High Note?

News: Ales Hemsky scored two goals -- one on the power play -- Tuesday against Ottawa in what may be his final game with the Oilers.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky has spent 11 seasons in Edmonton, but apparently expects that time to come to an end prior to Wednesday's trade deadline. If this was truly his last game in Edmonton, at least he went out on a high note, as he'd entered the contest in a seven-game slump without a point. Hard to think this performance will significantly boost his trade value, though, as the injury-prone winger still has just nine goals and 26 points in 55 games this year.

Oilers' Hemsky Thinks He Will Be Traded

News: Ales Hemsky expects to be traded before the deadline on March 5, according to the Edmonton Sun.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky's name has actually been dangled in trade rumors for the past few seasons but these next few days should be his last in an Oilers uniform. Hemsky is in the last year of his contract and could make for a solid addition on the second line for a playoff team.

Oilers May Be Shopping Hemsky

News: The Oilers are once again trying to trade Ales Hemsky, according to the Edmonton Sun.
Analysis: The Oilers tried to trade Ales Hemsky before the season started, but his contract ($5 million) made that an impossibility. Coach Dallas Eakins has moved Hemsky to the second line with Sam Gagner and Jordan Eberle -- maybe a reward for his hot play in the Olympics, but maybe because the Oilers are trying to showcase him for a trade.

Oilers' Hemsky Pots Two For Czech Republic

News: Ales Hemsky potted both goals for the Czech Republic in their 5-2 loss to the United States on Wednesday.
Analysis: His first goal was of the fluky variety, as he was the closest Czech player to the puck when two American players deflected it into their own net. While his wrister past goalie Jonathan Quick was a more legitimate score, it was ultimately less meaningful with the United States holding a commanding 5-1 lead at that point.

Oilers' Hemsky Held In Check In Return

News: Ales Hemsky (ankle) returned to action Saturday, logging 15:05 of ice time.
Analysis: It was a rather quiet day for Ales Hemsky, as he mustered a lone shot on goal and no hits or blocked shots in the loss to the Bruins. He skated on the third line in his return to the lineup.

Oilers' Hemsky Hopes To Play Saturday

News: Ales Hemsky (ankle) is hoping to return to action Saturday against the Bruins, Robert Tychkowski of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky has missed the past seven games with the ankle injury but believes that the injections he received should allow the pain to dissipate by the time the weekend arrives. He'll probably attempt to skate during Friday's practice before determining his availability for Boston game.

Oilers' Hemsky Out For Wednesday

News: Ales Hemsky (ankle) will not play against the Sharks on Wednesday, Arpon Basu of LNH.com reports.
Analysis: The winger has been out since January 14 with an ankle injury, and won't return Wednesday. Ales Hemsky has recorded seven goals and 17 assists in 48 games this season, but had four points in the five games before his injury.

News: Ales Hemsky (ankle) won't play Sunday versus Nashville, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky has been able to practice, but is not yet ready to play in a game. He could, however, get back in the lineup as soon as Monday versus Vancouver.

Oilers' Hemsky Out Friday

News: Ales Hemsky (ankle) will not play Friday against the Coyotes.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky returned to practice Wednesday, but he's evidently still not quite ready for game action. He'll miss a fourth straight game Friday, but a return for Sunday's game against Nashville seems entirely possible.

Oilers' Hemsky Gets In Full Practice

News: Ales Hemsky (ankle) completed a full practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky said the bone bruise on his ankle is still presenting some pain, but he's optimistic he'll be back in the lineup Friday if he can make it through Thursday's practice without any hindrance. He's missed the past three games with the bruise.

Oilers' Hemsky Skates Monday

News: Ales Hemsky (ankle) skated during Monday's practice.
Analysis: With the Oilers determining Ales Hemsky is dealing with a deep bone bruise on his ankle rather than a fracture, he's still considered day-to-day and might not be that far from a return. Hemsky has seven goals and 17 assists over 48 games for the Oilers.

Oilers' Hemsky Receives Good News On Injury

News: Secondary X-rays taken on Ales Hemsky's ankle showed no fracture, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis: The news would seem to suggest that Ales Hemsky is just dealing with bruising. It's still significant enough to keep Hemsky out of Saturday's game, but it would seem likely that he could avoid landing on injured reserve.

Oilers' Hemsky To Receive Further Evaluation

News: Ales Hemsky (ankle) returned to Edmonton on Thursday for further evaluation.
Analysis: Ales Hemsky's return home rules him out for the remaining two games on the team's road trip, with further games to follow if the diagnosis proves grim. He took a puck off his ankle Tuesday night and will likely receive scans to see if he sustained any sort of fracture.
