Canucks' Hamhuis Notches Two Helpers In Loss

News: Dan Hamhuis provided two assists and six shots on goal, but finished minus-1 in Thursday's loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: In a career marked by its unremarkable offensive statistics, this season truly stands out for Dan Hamhuis, as injuries and ineffectiveness have left him with zero goals and 13 assists in 39 games, and his minus-5 rating is the worst he's posted since his rookie season back in 2003-04.

Canucks' Hamhuis Picks Up Two Helpers In Loss

News: Dan Hamhuis assisted on a pair of goals in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Wild.
Analysis: It's Dan Hamhuis' first multi-point total of the season as he's up to 11 assists but no goals. The 32-year-old has actually gotten on to the scoresheet with a bit more regularity of late, but his level of production still won't warrant fantasy consideration except in the deepest formats.

Canucks' Hamhuis Bags Assist In Win

News: Dan Hamhuis picked up an assist in Tuesday's win over the Jets.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis has held down a regular role on the Canucks' second pairing since returning from a groin injury in mid-January, producing no goals, three assists, and eight shot attempts in seven games. That level of production shouldn't offer much to get excited about in most formats, and his low hit and blocked shot totals provide minimal intrigue in specialty leagues.

Canucks Activate Hamhuis (Groin)

News: Dan Hamhuis (groin) was activated from injured reserve prior to Thursday's game against the Flyers.
Analysis: The blueliner isn't planning to return to game action until Friday's game against the Hurricanes, but it appears he'll take part in pregame warmups Thursday with the team. Dan Hamhuis, who has no goals and six points over 20 games this season, hasn't played since Nov. 20.

Canucks' Hamhuis (Groin) Could Be Back Friday

News: Dan Hamhuis (groin) could be ready to return to the lineup Friday against the Hurricanes, the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis resumed practicing in full last Friday and looks to be nearing the finish line in his recovery. Coach Willie Desjardins said that if Hamhuis isn't back in the lineup Friday, he would be activated from IR in advance of Monday's game against the Panthers.

Canucks' Hamhuis Making Progress

News: Dan Hamhuis (groin) will not play Tuesday against the Predators.
Analysis: That said, Dan Hamhuis noted Monday that he has "made some great progress," while adding that he might return to action before the end of the team's upcoming road trip, which starts this Tuesday and runs through next Tuesday's tilt against the Lightning.

Canucks' Hamhuis (Groin) Practices Fully Friday

News: Dan Hamhuis (groin) logged a full practice Friday, Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: A day after rejoining the team for an optional skate Thursday, Dan Hamhuis took another step in a positive direction by increasing his activities. The blueliner is targeting a return to the lineup for some point in the second half of January.

Canucks' Hamhuis (Leg) Progressing Well

News: Dan Hamhuis (leg) took part in Thursday's optional skate.
Analysis: The Canucks still don't expect Dan Hamhuis to return to action for another week, but the blueliner is clearly ahead of schedule in his recovery from the leg injury. Coach Willie Desjardins said the team initially projected Hamhuis to be out of commission until at some point in February, but his timetable has since been revised for the back end of January.

Canucks' Hamhuis (Leg) Likely Out Until Late Jan.

News: Dan Hamhuis (leg) isn't expected to return until the second half of January, the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis has been able to do so light activities on the ice recently, but he's still not back practicing with the team. He's been out since Nov. 20 with the injury.

Canucks' Hamhuis On Ice Saturday

News: Dan Hamhuis (leg/groin) was on the ice prior to Saturday's morning skate, Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis wasn't wearing his full gear during the skating session, so it wouldn't seem that he's particularly close to a return just yet. The blueliner has been sidelined since Nov. 20 with the leg injury.

Canucks' Hamhuis Not Joining Canucks On Trip

News: Dan Hamhuis (lower body) will not join the Canucks on their seven-game road trip beginning Friday.
Analysis: The fact that Dan Hamhuis isn't traveling with the team illustrates that he's dealing with something more significant than a day-to-day concern. The Canucks might not provide a clearer timeline for his return until he's able to resume skating again.

Canucks Place Hamhuis On IR

News: Dan Hamhuis (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: The Canucks haven't detailed an official timetable for Dan Hamhuis' recovery, but it sounds like a long-term absence might be in the cards for the blueliner. He hasn't resumed skating since leaving last Thursday's game with the lower-body ailment.

Canucks' Hamhuis Misses Practice Monday

News: Dan Hamhuis (lower body) did not participate in practice on Monday, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis has missed Vancouver's last two games, and it's feared that his injury is going to be a long-term one. In 20 games this season, the 31-year-old defenseman has no goals and six assists.

Long-Term Absence In Store For Canucks' Hamhuis?

News: The Canucks are fearing the lower-body injury that forced Dan Hamhuis out of Thursday's game may be more than a day-to-day concern, Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis suffered a right leg injury in the first period of the loss to the Ducks and was unable to put any weight on his leg while leaving the ice. The Canucks have already called up Frank Corrado from AHL Utica seemingly in anticipation of Hamhuis being unavailable for Sunday's game with the Blackhawks, but the team may have to trade for a defenseman if Hamhuis ends up missing more than a month.

Canucks' Hamhuis Suffers Lower-Body Injury

News: Dan Hamhuis suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday's game against the Ducks and will not return.
Analysis: The origin of Dan Hamhuis' injury is unclear, but it will sideline him for the remainder of Thursday's contest and could put his status in doubt for Sunday's game against the Blackhawks. If he can't go, Ryan Stanton will likely dress in his place.

Canucks' Hamhuis Adds Assist In Win

News: Dan Hamhuis collected his fifth assist of the season in Sunday's win over San Jose.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis hasn't produced much offensively this season, failing to score a goal and registering a minus-5 rating. After almost reaching the 40-point mark in 2011-12, Hamhuis has fallen back into more of a 20-point player, focusing more on the defensive aspect of his game. At least you know what you're getting.

Canucks' Hamhuis Drops Mitts In Win

News: Dan Hamhuis dropped the mitts and had an assist in Saturday's shootout win over the Oilers.
Analysis: It was the blueliner's first fight since 2010, so don't expect him to rack up too many more five-minute majors during the season. Dan Hamhuis is is off to a solid start in 2014-15, recording two assists in two games, while averaging 23:57 of ice time. He isn't the flashiest player, but he is reliable and should improve on the mere 22 points he tallied in 2013-14.

Canucks' Hamhuis Sets Up Two Thursday

News: Dan Hamhuis grabbed two helpers Thursday -- his first points in five games -- in a 4-2 home loss to the Avalanche.
Analysis: The assists bring his total to just 17 on the season, which is especially disappointing after he put up 20 in 31 fewer games last year. It's not all Dan Hamhuis' fault, however, as the Canucks' lack of offense (last in the Western Conference and 28th overall with 2.30 goals per game) has been well documented. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, the main accomplishment for the 31-year-old B.C. native this season is bringing home gold for Team Canada at the Olympics -- an achievement that doesn't impact fantasy stats. On the bright side, he leads the Canucks with a plus-14 rating and his shot total of 149 is his highest in 10 NHL seasons, so with a little puck luck next year, he could see a moderate uptick in goals.

Canucks' Hamhuis Gets It Done Against Wild

News: Dan Hamhuis racked up an assist and went plus-3 in 24:24 of ice time in Wednesday's win over the Wild.
Analysis: A solid outing from the 31-year-old, who has been heating up as of late. Dan Hamhuis now has has three points (a goal and two assists) in his last five games, and has posted a plus-8 rating over his past seven games. He only has 19 points in 72 games on the season, but has the potential to generate some fantasy value down the stretch.

Canucks' Hamhuis Ends 48-Game Goal Drought

News: Dan Hamhuis scored his fifth goal of the season in Sunday's win over Florida, ending a 48-game goal drought.
Analysis: Wow, 48 games, had it really been that long? Dan Hamhuis has gone cold as of late, tallying only two points in his last 15 games. It has been a forgettable year for the 31-year-old, who only has 17 points through 68 games. It's not all bad though, as his plus-10 rating is quite impressive, considering the way the Canucks have struggled. Still, you can't be happy with the fact he is on pace to post a lower point total this season than he did in a shortened campaign (47 games) last season.

Canucks' Hamhuis Returns With Gold

News: Dan Hamhuis has returned to Vancouver after winning gold with Team Canada at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi,Team 1040's Jeff Paterson reports.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis played in all but one of Team Canada's six games, failing to register a point, while averaging only 4:02 of ice time per game. With Drew Doughty, Shea Weber, Duncan Keith, and Alex Pietrangelo all part of Canada's defense core, it wasn't expected that Hamhuis would play much. Though he didn't play a big role in the team's success, the Olympic experience should benefit Hamhuis, as he got to play with some elite players. Hopefully the break will do some good for Hamhuis, as he was struggling in the NHL entering the Olympics, failing to register a point in his last five NHL games, and going minus-4 in that span.

Canucks' Hamhuis Ready To Play Saturday

News: Dan Hamhuis (undisclosed) is expected to play in Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
Analysis: Dan Hamhuis has missed the past two games for Vancouver with an undisclosed injury, but has been given the green light for Saturday's game. He should be safe to deploy unless his status changes before game time.

Canucks' Hamhuis To Sit Tuesday

News: Dan Hamhuis (undisclosed) will not play Tuesday against the Bruins, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Though the nature and extent of the injury remain unknown, Dan Hamhuis apparently suffered the undisclosed ailment in Monday's loss to the Red Wings. He'll take a seat Tuesday with new acquisition Raphael Diaz taking his spot in the lineup.

Canucks' Hamhuis Ends Scoring Drought

News: Dan Hamhuis ended a seven-game scoring drought on Sunday, collecting an assist and going plus-2 in a win over Phoenix.
Analysis: While it's nice to see Dan Hamhuis back on the scoresheet, he has been bumped off both power-play units, with Chris Tanev being his replacement. Hamhuis is a solid defenseman, but only has 15 points in 53 games this season, making him an overall disappointment for fantasy owners.
