MacIntyre Signs With Hurricanes

News: The Hurricanes have signed Drew MacIntyre to a one-year, two-way contract, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The 31-year-old Drew MacIntyre, who spent most of last season with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, gives the Hurricanes some veteran goaltending depth behind Cam Ward and Anton Khudobin.

Leafs' MacIntyre Will Return To AHL

News: Drew MacIntyre will be sent down to the AHL to lead the Marlies in the playoffs, James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: In his first NHL start of his career, Drew MacIntyre made 33 saves in a loss. He has played 10 years in the minors and was brought up just to give him a start in the NHL for his career, so do not expect him to be recalled unless it is warranted by an injury.

Leafs' MacIntyre: 33 Saves In Loss

News: Drew MacIntyre made 33 saves in a 4-2 loss to the Panthers on Thursday night. It was his first career NHL start in a 10-year professional career.
Analysis: He's played for nine different minor league teams (and a KHL team to boot) over those 10 years, making five NHL relief appearances in that span. Drew MacIntyre put up a good fight Thursday, but in the end, his mates played the same way they have most of the season. They allowed 37 shots on net.

Leafs Give MacIntyre First NHL Start Thursday

News: Drew MacIntyre will make his first NHL start Thursday against Florida, according to Hockey Central at Noon on Toronto's Sportsnet the FAN590.
Analysis: This is a class move and has nothing to do with a lack of faith in James Reimer. Drew MacIntyre is 30 years old and has been starring in the AHL, but has only ever appeared in relief in the NHL. And against the Panthers, he could be well positioned to win that outing.

Maple Leafs' MacIntyre Called Up Saturday

News: Drew MacIntyre was recalled from AHL Toronto on Saturday, James Mirtle of the Toronto Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: With Jonathan Bernier (knee) out for at least the next three weeks, the Leafs opted to swap a forward (Carter Ashton) for a goaltender. So long as Toronto remains in the mix for a playoff spot, James Reimer figures to start over Drew MacIntyre.

Maple Leafs Demote MacIntyre

News: Drew MacIntyre was demoted to AHL Toronto prior to Tuesday's game, David Alter of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Bernier is back in the net for Maple Leafs after missing the previous five games with a groin injury, eliminating the need for the team to carry two extra goalies on their roster. Drew MacIntyre made just one appearance during his stay with the Leafs, stopping all 14 shots he faced in relief of James Reimer in Sunday's loss to the Devils.

Leafs' MacIntyre Perfect In Relief

News: Drew MacIntyre made 14 saves in relief Sunday after he came in for starter James Reimer early in the second period. He did not allow a goal.
Analysis: Drew MacIntyre had been having a great year in the AHL when he was called up, but he's still waiting on his first NHL start. He has appeared in five games in relief -- one this season, two in 2011-12 and two in 2007-08.

Leafs Recall MacIntyre From Marlies

News: Drew MacIntyre was recalled from the Toronto Marlies on Saturday, TSN's Jonas Siegel reports.
Analysis: With Jonathan Bernier banged up and likely out for a few games, the Leafs are in need of a little depth in goal. Drew MacIntyre is 25-15-3 with a 2.47 GAA and .919 save percentage over 44 games for the Marlies this season.

Maple Leafs Place MacIntyre On Waivers

News: Drew MacIntyre was placed on waivers Sunday, Sportsnet 590's David Alter reports.
Analysis: Though the Leafs haven't decided on a starter for Opening Night, both James Reimer and Jonathan Bernier were the unquestioned top two goaltenders in camp, taking Drew MacIntyre out of the running for a roster spot. He'll report to AHL Toronto if he clears waivers.

Leafs Recall MacIntyre

News: Drew MacIntyre was recalled by the Maple Leafs on Friday, the Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: Regular backup Ben Scrivens left the team Friday to attend his grandfather's funeral, so the Leafs gave Drew MacIntyre the call to serve as some emergency net-minding depth. The 29-year-old MacIntyre posted an admirable 1.83 GAA and a .931 save percentage in 21 regular season AHL games this season.

Sabres' MacIntyre Signs With KHL Club

News: After a disappointing season with Rochester (AHL), MacIntryre has decided to sign with HC Lev of the KHL, according to of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
Analysis: Drew MacIntyre did not even end up being the starter in Rochester, falling behind David Leggio in the pecking order. He feels like he needs a change of scenery, but with labor uncertainty ahead in the states, a move to the KHL provides a little bit of certainty and that change of scenery for MacIntyre.

Sabres Recall MacIntyre

News: Drew MacIntyre has been recalled and will back up Jonas Enroth on Monday night, reports the The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Ryan Miller suffered a concussion after a hard hit from Milan Lucic on Saturday night and is out for an undetermined amount of time. Jonas Enroth will get the bulk of the action but Drew MacIntyre may get a game or two in relief if Miller is out for long.

MacIntyre Heads To Buffalo

News: MacIntyre has been signed by the Sabres, the Hamilton Spectator reports.
Analysis: MacIntyre will be in the mix to back up Ryan Miller, a job that does not carry a whole lot of fantasy value when the Sabres' star goalie is healthy. More than likely, however, that job belongs to Jhonas Enroth, and MacIntyre will provide depth from the AHL level.

MacIntyre Dealt To Montreal

News: The Thrashers have traded MacIntyre to Montreal for defenseman Brett Festerling, reports TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Analysis: MacIntyre has been a serviceable netminder in what's become a rather lengthy AHL career, and is likely ticketed for the AHL and an organization depth role with the Habs.

Thrashers Recall MacIntyre

News: The Thrashers recalled MacIntyre from AHL Chicago on Saturday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec left Friday's game with an undisclosed injury and may not be available Sunday against Toronto, so MacIntyre will be around if needed.

News: MacIntyre was called up by the Thrashers from AHL Chicago, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

News: MacIntyre was sent back down to AHL Chicago on Monday, NBC Sports reports.

MacIntyre Recalled by Thrashers

News: The Thrashers recalled MacIntrye from the AHL on Saturday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore reports.
Analysis: With Ondrej Pavelec still in the hospital following Friday's scary collapse, so MacIntyre will serve as the Thrashers' backup Saturday against Tampa Bay.

Thrashers assign nine to AHL

News: The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned nine players, including forwards Joey Crabb and Jason Krog, to AHL Chicago. Also assigned to Chicago were forwards Spencer Machacek and Tim Stapleton, defensemen Arturs Kulda, Grant Lewis, Paul Postma and Mike Vernace and goaltender Drew McIntyre.
Analysis: Crabb had nine points in 29 games with Atlanta last season. Krog signed with the Thrashers as a free agent after playing in four games with Vancouver last season. Machacek is one of the Thrashers' top prospects, while Kulda, Lewis and Postma are also among Atlanta's top 20 prospects. Still, most of these guys are just organizational depth and have little to no Fantasy value.

Thrashers goalie situation unsettled

News: The Sports Xchange reports when it comes to goaltending in the NHL, it's always nice to have options. But it's even nicer to have a proven star between the pipes ready to handle the bulk of the workload. At the moment, the Thrashers have options, but no star. Will one emerge? Along with Kari Lehtonen, who is recovering from an unexpected offseason back surgery, Atlanta has Johan Hedberg and Ondrej Pavelec. Perhaps most interestingly though, GM Don Waddell added Drew MacIntrye to the mix when he signed him as a free agent this summer. MacIntyre has been one of the top goalies in the American Hockey League over the last several years, posting three straight 25-win seasons. He led the AHL with 34 wins last season.
Analysis: Waddell recently told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that MacIntyre will compete for a job. One can only assume that it would be a backup job. If so, that would likely put Hedberg or Pavelec on the trading block, but by no means is Lehtonen considered a lock for the starting job. One thing is for certain: The goaltending battle in training camp could turn out to be highly contested. As long as Lehtonen is healthy, he should be in net for Atlanta. But his injuries woes have clearly caused for some turbulent times. We think the MacIntyre talk is to motivate the Atlanta goalies, but Lehtonen is pretty much the only Atlanta goalie who should be Fantasy radars Draft Day. Pavelec would be second, but he is more of a long-term keeper. The Thrashers TG remains a low-end Fantasy option.

MacIntyre makes his way to Atlanta

News: The Thrashers agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski, forward Jason Krog, and goalies Drew MacIntyre and Peter Mannino Monday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Analysis: The 26-year-old MacIntyre has posted a 91-49-8 record with nine shutouts, a 2.32 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage in 155 career AHL games with Grand Rapids, Manitoba and Milwaukee, including three straight seasons of at least 25 wins. He spent last season in the Predators organization playing for Milwaukee. MacIntyre's only appearance in the NHL came in 2007-08 with the Canucks. He played in two games, posting a 2.95 GAA and .864 save percentage. He is hanging around as organizational depth, and until that changes he has no Fantasy appeal.

Predators recall goalie MacIntyre

News: Goalie Dan Ellis started for Nashville Tuesday against the Capitals after projected starter Pekka Rinne showed up to the morning skate with flu-like symptoms and was sent home. The Predators recalled G Drew MacIntyre from Milwaukee (AHL) to serve as Ellis' backup.
Analysis: MacIntyre has pretty much been a career minor leaguer and is just organizational depth for the Predators. He will be back in the minors shortly and has little to no Fantasy value.

Canucks re-assign MacIntyre to AHL

News: The Vancouver Canucks re-assigned goalie Drew MacIntyre to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. MacIntyre, 24, played in his second NHL game on January 29 versus Dallas, making 10 saves on 11 shots in 33:48 minutes of work.
Analysis: MacIntyre made his NHL debut with the Canucks on December 13, 2007 at San Jose, stopping nine of 11 shots in 27 minutes of work. He has played in 28 games for the Moose this season, posting a record of 16-11-1. MacIntyre has registered one shutout and a goals against average of 2.30. His play this season earned him a spot in the AHL All-Star game, marking his first career appearance at the event. MacIntyre has no Fantasy value at this time.
