Penguins' Ehrhoff Sidelined

News: According to Coach Mike Johnston, Christian Ehrhoff will be out for several days with an upper-body injury.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff can be ruled out for Thursday's game against the Hurricanes, which will leave the team a player short for the contest, with the blueliner's status for the Penguins' two tilts this weekend looking cloudy, at best.

Disastrous Season Continues For Pens' Ehrhoff

News: Pens coach Mike Johnston offered no update on Christian Ehrhoff following Tuesday's loss, but it appears as though the defenseman may have suffered another head injury.
Analysis: The 2014-15 campaign has pretty much been a nightmare scenario for the veteran blueliner. He hasn't been able to stay healthy, and when he has skated, he's put up only 14 points in 49 contests.

Pens' Ehrhoff Suffers Injury In Lineup Return

News: Christian Ehrhoff skated just two shifts before leaving Tuesday's game against the Blues after crashing into the boards, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The bad luck continues for Christian Ehrhoff, who returned in mid-March from a long-term absence due to a concussion before an undisclosed issue quickly resurfaced and forced him out of the Pens' previous game over the weekend. That injury didn't prevent Ehrhoff from suiting up Tuesday, but he saw just 1:13 of ice time before a check from the Blues' Vladimir Tarasenko sent him to the locker room. Ehrhoff appeared to crash headfirst into the boards on the hit, which only creates more concern that he might be at risk of another concussion. The Penguins aren't providing specifics on his injury just yet, but more information should become available after the match concludes.

News: Christian Ehrhoff (undisclosed) is on the ice for pregame warmups and looks to be good to go for Tuesday's tilt with the Blues, Jenn Menendez of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: As expected, the Penguins are skating seven defensemen Tuesday, with Christian Ehrhoff set to pair up with Ben Lovejoy on the second pairing. Ehrhoff missed one game due to the undisclosed issue.

Penguins' Ehrhoff Expected To Play

Pens' Ehrhoff Misses Game Saturday

News: Christian Ehrhoff missed Saturday's game with a "nagging injury," Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: The injury is not related to a concussion which forced Christian Ehrhoff off the ice for nearly one month. The defender skated during warmups Saturday, so the ailment probably won't keep him out of the lineup for an extended period.

Ehrhoff Back In Pens' Lineup Saturday

News: Christian Ehrhoff (concussion) will return to the lineup Saturday afternoon against the Bruins.
Analysis: The defender has 13 points in 44 games, including just one point on the power play. The Pens will pair Christian Ehrhoff with recently-acquired Ben Lovejoy as their second unit.

Pens' Ehrhoff Takes Full Contact

News: Christian Ehrhoff (concussion) took full contact during Friday's practice.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff indicated he "felt good" following the session and has received the go-ahead from the Penguins to resume playing. He'll likely get in another skate Saturday morning, and if all goes well, he could be back in the lineup later in the evening against the Bruins.

Pens' Ehrhoff Could Return Saturday

News: Christian Ehrhoff (concussion) will return to the lineup Saturday against the Bruins if he completes practice Friday without incident, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff has been hampered by a concussion for more than one month, ever since he fell awkwardly after a collision with the Caps' Alexander Ovechkin. The blueliner has only scored three goals and 13 points in 44 games, including just one point on the power play.

Pens' Ehrhoff Set To Sit Out Friday

News: Christian Ehrhoff (concussion) didn't take part in the Pens' morning skate Friday, Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: It appears safe to rule Christian Ehrhoff out for Friday's game against the Ducks, and he's not out of the woods yet for a longer absence after suffering a setback with his recovery from a concussion. Consider him unlikely to play in Saturday's game against the Kings, too.

Concussion Symptoms Resurface For Pens' Ehrhoff

News: Christian Ehrhoff missed Wednesday's game against the Avalanche out of concern that he might have suffered a setback in his recovery from a concussion, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston said that Christian Ehrhoff still had "some issues the doctors wanted to be cautious with," so he'll be considered day-to-day for the time being. It seems like his absence from Wednesday's game might have been precautionary, as Ehrhoff was permitted to skate the last couple of days. He hasn't been ruled out for a return to the lineup Friday against the Ducks.

Pens' Ehrhoff Out Wednesday

News: Christian Ehrhoff will not play in Wednesday's contest against the Avalanche, Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff was scratched from Sunday's game, but was able to return to practice so the team was optimistic that he'd be able to play Wednesday. Coach Mike Johnston indicated that it's more of a precautionary measure than anything else, so it seems likely that Ehrhoff could return for Friday's game against the Ducks. While the exact nature of the issue hasn't been announced, the defenseman recently returned from a concussion, so it's possible he's still dealing with those symptoms.

Penguins' Ehrhoff Practices Again

News: Christian Ehrhoff, who was scratched from the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jackets, practiced again Tuesday, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Pens' Ehrhoff Practicing, Should Play Wednesday

News: Christian Ehrhoff, who was scratched for Sunday's game against the Blue Jackets, was on the ice for Monday's practice, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: After Christian Ehrhoff returned from a month-long absence last week following his bout with a concussion, coach Mike Johnston elected to rest the blueliner for Sunday's game. There was some fear that Ehrhoff's concussion symptoms might have resurfaced following his return to action, but it appears his removal from Sunday's lineup was just a precautionary measure. Look for him to be back in action Wednesday against the Avalanche.

Pens' Ehrhoff Out Sunday

News: Christian Ehrhoff won't play Sunday against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff's reason for missing the game is health related, likely involving lingering effects from a concussion he was dealing with earlier in the week. Derrick Pouliot and Robert Bortuzzo will both play on the blue line for Pittsburgh.

Pens' Ehrhoff Returns Wednesday

News: Christian Ehrhoff was held pointless with a plus-1 rating in little over 18 minutes of action Wednesday in his first game back from a concussion.
Analysis: The Caps' Tom Wilson punished Christian Ehrhoff with a couple of dangerous hits, but the blueliner didn't miss a shift. Ehrhoff now has 13 points in 44 games with Pittsburgh.

Pens' Ehrhoff Paired With Pouliot On Wednesday

News: The Penguins will pair Christian Ehrhoff with Derrick Pouliot on Wednesday against the Capitals.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff has been a fantasy disappointment with Pittsburgh -- he has just 13 points in 43 games -- and hasn't seen much time on the power play. With an offensive rookie in his pairing Wednesday, Ehrhoff will likely make safe decisions and provide support for the puck carriers.

Pens' Ehrhoff Could Play Wednesday

News: Christian Ehrhoff (concussion) took part in Wednesday's morning skate and suggested he felt ready to play later in the evening against the Capitals.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston said after the session that he'd meet with Christian Ehrhoff and team doctors before determining the blueliner's status. That likely leaves him as a game-time decision for Wednesday's game, with his availability (or lack thereof) to be determined during pregame warmups.

Pens' Ehrhoff Gets In Full Practice

News: Christian Ehrhoff (concussion) took part in a full-contact practice Tuesday.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston acknowledged after the session that Christian Ehrhoff could be a possibility for Wednesday's game against the Capitals. The Penguins will check in on Ehrhoff's condition after Wednesday's morning skate before a decision on his status is reached. The blueliner's last apperance came on Jan. 28.

Pens' Ehrhoff (Concussion) Activated From IR

News: Christian Ehrhoff (concussion) was activated from injured reserve Sunday and could return, Andy Hughes of The Pens Nation reports.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff was taken off injured reserve on the Penguins' team site, and has been increasing his role in practice lately. It seems that a return could be coming Sunday, but an official update on his status should be provided at some point.

Pens' Ehrhoff Increases Contact Friday

News: Christian Ehrhoff (concussion) took contact in Friday's practice, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff looks to be nearing the finish line in his recovery from the concussion, as taking full contact represents one of the final hurdles he'll have to clear. Coach Mike Johnston has ruled out a return to action Saturday against the Blues for the blueliner, but he could be ready to go for the second half of the Pens' back-to-back Sunday versus the Panthers.

Pens' Ehrhoff Still Out

News: Christian Ehrhoff (concussion) took part in limited contact drills Thursday but is not close to returning.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston said Thursday that Christian Ehrhoff remains in the early stages of a comeback. "It was pretty limited (the contact) today," noted Johnston. That's the first step, 1-on-1 contact then team battling drills. Until he gets into a team practice with heavier contact, then he's still several days away from there."
