Ehrhoff Signs With Penguins

News: Christian Ehrhoff has signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Penguins, NHL Network reports.
Analysis: After being bought out by Buffalo, Christian Ehrhoff will get a chance to reestablish his value on a one-year deal with the Penguins. Assuming he sees his share of power-play duty with Pittsburgh, he also figures to see a boost in his fantasy value after recording 33 points and a minus-27 rating in 79 games for the low-scoring Sabres last season.

Ehroff Appears Not Long For Buffalo

News: The Sabres have initiated a compliance buyout of Christian Ehrhoff's contract, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Analysis: The Sabres are in full rebuild mode and Christian Ehrhoff hasn't been coming anywhere close to producing (33 points and a minus-27 rating in 79 games last season) at a rate worthy of his 10-year, $40-million deal. The team previously decided to use its other, non-compliance buyout on an even more disappointing Ville Leino. The only trick will be meeting the league's salary floor, as the Sabres were nowhere near it even before the two buyouts. General manager Tim Murray isn't worried about reaching the floor at the moment. Remember that Dale Tallon's Panthers were far away from the cap floor as well just three years ago.

Ehrhoff's 33 Points Tops Among Sabres Defensemen

News: Christian Ehrhoff scored six goals and 33 points in 2013-14, statistically his best season with the Sabres to date.
Analysis: Since signing a massive 10-year, $40 million contract with the Sabres, Christian Ehrhoff has managed to score just 19 goals over three seasons. After posting three consecutive 30-assist seasons with San Jose and Vancouver, Ehrhoff has put up just 27, 17 and 27 assists in his three campaigns with Buffalo. It's clear that the German defenseman isn't good enough to spearhead a team's offensive attack and missed having the quality of forwards he enjoyed with his two previous teams. The Sabres are rebuilding and still deciding on Ehrhoff's future. If he's not part of the team's plan, the expectation is that he will be bought out this summer, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Sabres' Ehrhof Will Miss Sunday With Concussion

News: Christian Ehrhoff suffered a mild concussion in Saturday's game and will miss the Sabres' season finale Sunday.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff will finish the season with six goals and 27 assists. The eight-year veteran will look to continue a successful career next season.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Good To Go

News: Christian Ehrhoff (head) will play Tuesday against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff, who took a puck to his right ear Sunday against the Flyers, ended up taking about 40 stitches as a result, but he'll be out there Tuesday for the Sabres, nonetheless.

Sabres' Ehrhoff: Game-Time Decision Tuesday

News: Christian Ehrhoff (head) will be a game-time decision Tuesday against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff took a puck to the right ear Sunday against the Flyers, requiring 40 stitches to repair a gash. While he was fortunate to avoid a concussion, his ear may still be a little sensitive to the touch of a helmet. We'll probably have to wait until pregame warmups to find out his status for Tuesday night's contest.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Hit By Puck

News: Christian Ehrhoff took a puck to the side of his head in Sunday's loss to the Flyers and had to leave the contest, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Coach Ted Nolan thinks the injury might be somewhat serious, so consider Christian Ehrhoff a very risky proposition for the final period of weekly leagues. The Sabres remain a MASH unit, and as the NHL's worst team, the season can't end soon enough.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Submits No-Trade List

News: Christian Ehrhoff has listed eight teams he will not accept trade to, as per terms of his contract, reports the Olean Times Herald.
Analysis: It's "part of the business," according to Christian Ehrhoff, and the Sabres' request for a list comes as no surprise as the team prepares to hold a fire sale. The Sabres signed Ehrhoff for $40 million in 2011, but the results have been lackluster. A talented puck-moving defenseman, there will be plenty of teams after Ehrhoff's services. The Sabres want fair value in return, which may impede negotiations, but the smart money is on Ehrhoff leaving Buffalo. His fantasy value takes a boost if he figures into his new team's power play strategy. Stay tuned.

Ehrhoff's Two Goals Carry Sabres

News: Christian Ehrhoff opened and closed the scoring Tuesday against Carolina, notching the game's first goal as well as the game-winner in a 3-2 triumph.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff scored on the power play for the first time all season in the first period, and he's now totaled eight points in his last eight games as he showcases his talent for a potential trade out of Buffalo.

Ehrhoff Unsure Of Future With Sabres

News: Christian Ehrhoff isn't sure if he wants to stay in Buffalo with the team going through a re-build, reports WGR 550 Sports Radio.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff has a clause that allows him to list eight teams he would be unwilling to accept a trade to, which gives him some control over his future. Buffalo's $40 million investment hasn't paid many dividends, and the team intends to hit the reset button under new general manager Tim Murray. The Sabres have yet to use any of their compliance buyouts, and Ehrhoff's costly contract and disappointing play makes him a potential buyout candidate. There is a market for good puck-moving defensemen like Ehrhoff, and he may welcome a move away from the league's worst team. The NHL trade deadline is March 5, so expect talks to ramp up. Ehrhoff is expected to play Tuesday against Carolina.

News: Christian Ehrhoff (illness) will play Saturday against the Avalanche.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff made it through pregame warmups without incident and will draw back into the lineup after missing just one game due to the illness. He'll be paired with Chad Ruhwedel in his return.

Sabres' Ehrhoff A Game-Time Decision

News: Christian Ehrhoff (illness) is a game-time decision for Saturday's contest against the Avalanche.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff will see how he feels during pregame warmups before a decision on his status is rendered. He was forced to miss Thursday's game with the illness.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Out Thursday

News: Christian Ehrhoff (illness) will not play in Thursday's game against the Coyotes.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff was expected to be a game-time decision due to an illness and was not present in warm-ups. Consider him day-to-day as he tries to rest up and return for the Sabres.

Sabres' Ehrhoff A Game-Time Decision

News: Christian Ehrhoff (illness) will be a game-time decision Thursday against the Coyotes, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff was absent from morning skate after feeling under the weather. The Sabres will check in on him in the afternoon and see if he can give it a go Thursday. If not, Jamie McBain would likely enter the lineup in his place.

Ehrhoff Leads Buffalo Over Columbus

News: Christian Ehrhoff scored a goal and added two assists in Saturday's win over the Blue Jackets. The goal and one of the assists came while shorthanded.
Analysis: His overall numbers are average at best, but he's been a whole lot more of the old Christian Ehrhoff since Ted Nolan took over behind the net. He's going to bring you solid value until season's end. Don't be afraid to get him back in there.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Tallies Game-Winner Friday

News: Christian Ehrhoff tallied a goal and an assist during Friday's overtime win against the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff assisted on the game-tying goal late in the second period and then pumped home the game-winner just 38 seconds into overtime. The goal was just his second of the season and the points were his first in six games.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Returns Tuesday Night

News: After sitting out one game with a muscle strain, Christian Ehrhoff is back in the Buffalo lineup Tuesday night against Los Angeles, reports Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff missed just one game, and despite totaling just four assists on the season, should bring an offensive element from the blue line for the goal-starved Sabres. Ehrhoff leads all Buffalo defensemen with 32 shots on goal, and the team needs him to provide offense in a big way. The Sabres are 0-8-1 at home, and have been outscored 32-14 and outshot 317-258 in that span. Ehrhoff hasn't been the same 50-point player since leaving Vancouver, but he's the biggest piece of the Buffalo defense. On this team, the 31-year-old German won't be posting big numbers. He's worth an add in deeper leagues, but until he starts scoring more often, he's of limited value.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Expected Back Tuesday

Sabres' Ehrhoff To Sit Friday

News: It looks as though Christian Ehrhoff (lower body) won't play Friday vs. the Ducks, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.
Analysis: Nikita Zadorov skated in Christian Ehrhoff's place during morning skate, so it looks like he'll be in the lineup in his stead. Ehrhoff has just four points in 18 games, but is still tied for the club lead in defenseman scoring.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Exits With Lower-Body Injury

News: Christian Ehrhoff left Thursday's game with a lower-body injury and will not return, the Buffalo News' John Vogl reports.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff failed to reach the score sheet before exiting Thursday's game. He has just four points (all assists) through 18 contests, after scoring 22 points in 47 games last season, and 32 points in 66 games during the 2011-12 campaign. Historically, he's been a pretty durable player, and coach Ron Rolston said after Thursday's game that Ehrhoff should be fine. It sounds like the veteran defenseman will be day-to-day.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Struggling

News: Through 10 games, Christian Ehrhoff is still looking for his first goal and has registered just two assists.
Analysis: The entire Buffalo roster is struggling, so given Christian Ehrhoff's skill set and the amount the team paid to bring him to Buffalo it's doubtful he's going to lose his role as a top blueliner. But fantasy owners have to be bummed by the start, given that he put up 22 points in 47 games last season and 32 in 66 the season prior. His 3:59 of power-play ice time per game leaves some hope that he could be a good buy-low candidate, if you can come up with a reason or two that the Buffalo team as a whole will start to figure things out.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Off To World Championshipa In May

News: Christian Ehrhoff will suit up for Germany in the upcoming World Championships, according to his own Twitter feed. The tournament begins May 3, shortly after the NHL's regular season concludes.
Analysis: With the Sabres out of the playoff picture again, Christian Ehrhoff will get a chance to play some meaningful games for his home country. Meanwhile, he carries a four-game point streak into Monday's game against Winnipeg.

Buffalo's Ehrhoff With Points In Four Straight

News: Christian Ehrhoff assisted on two of Buffalo's four goals in Friday's loss to the Rangers and has five points in the last four games. He finished the 8-4 loss a minus-5.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff hasn't put up the double-digit goals that the Sabres were expecting when they signed him to a 10-year contract in 2011, but his 22 points this season have him on a pace for over 40 points in a regular season. Ehrhoff has four of those recent five points on the power play and should continue to see offensive chances with Tyler Myers (leg) done for the season.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Scores Fifth Goal In 1-0 Win

News: Christian Ehrhoff scored his fifth goal of the season 17 seconds into the third period of Saturday's 1-0 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: Christian Ehrhoff provided the game's only goal and ended his own six-game pointless streak. He started the year with 10 points in his first 15 games, but has just eight points in 26 contests since then.

Sabres' Ehrhoff Busts Out Of PP Slump

News: Christian Ehrhoff posted a goal and two assists, all on the power-play, in Thursday's 5-4 shootout victory over Toronto.
Analysis: Prior to this outburst, Christian Ehrhoff had just one power-play point this season, despite averaging 4:21 per game with the man advantage. His overall offensive production (15 points in 30 games) has been reliable and stands to see a boost if the Sabres' anemic PP has turned a corner.
