Blues' Goc Scores In Win

News: Marcel Goc scored his first goal as a member of the Blues on Tuesday against his old team in a 3-2 overtime win against Pittsburgh. He was plus-1 and added two hits and a blocked shot while winning five of seven faceoffs in the contest.
Analysis: It took Marcel Goc 23 games with St. Louis to notch his first goal, which is one reason he has been rotating in and out of the lineup since the arrival of Oli Jokinen. Take note of the faceoff prowess, Goc is one of the NHL's best with a 54.4% success rate this year, which is key to his playing time as the season nears its end.

Blues' Goc To Be A Scratch Saturday

News: Marcel Goc will be the odd man out when Olli Jokinen makes his debut for the Blues on Saturday against Toronto, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc has just two points in 18 games with St. Louis and only six points on the season. On the other hand, he has won 53.6 percent of his faceoffs with St. Louis, so depending on what coach Ken Hitchcock wants from his fourth-line center, Goc could be back in the lineup regularly down the stretch.

Blues' Goc In Line To Play Tuesday

News: Marcel Goc (face) is in line to play Tuesday against the Canadiens, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc was limited to just 6:51 of ice time in Saturday's game against the Penguins after taking a slash to the face, but appears to be fine. He's set to center the Blues' fourth line.

Blues' Goc Leaves After Taking A Stick To The Face

News: Marcel Goc took a stick to the mouth Saturday and went to the locker room for treatment, the St. Louis Post Dispatch's Jeremy Rutherford reports.
Analysis: He saw just four minutes of ice time before the stick to the face caused his mouth to bleed, and he exited the ice. Marcel Goc should be considered day-to-day.

Blues' Goc Picks Up First Point Since Trade

News: Marcel Goc picked up an assist Thursday in a win over the Canes. It was his first point since being traded to the Blues. He was plus-1 with three shots and a hit on the night.
Analysis: Marcel Goc is centering the Blues' fourth line and has played right around 13 minutes in his first two games with his new team. He has been a 20-plus point scorer in the past, but has just seven points on the year and the move to the Blues will keep him primarily in a checking role.

Blues' Goc Set To Make St. Louis Debut

News: Marcel Goc, who was traded to the Blues on Tuesday, will be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Predators
Analysis: Marcel Goc managed just six points in 43 games with the Penguins this season, and he figures to skate on the Blues' fourth line. It would thus be unwise to expect a significant uptick in production.

Pens Deal Goc To St. Louis

News: Marcel Goc was traded to the Blues on Tuesday in exchange for Maxim Lapierre, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: It's a swap of depth centers, with Marcel Goc providing a dash more of offensive upside compared to Lapierre's more physical style. After compiling 25 points a season ago, Goc struggled to find his place on the Pens' checking line, contributing only two goals and four assists over 43 games. Don't expect his numbers to take off with the Blues, who are arguably even deeper at forward than the Penguins.

Pens' Goc To Sit With Illness Wednesday

News: Marcel Goc will miss Wednesday's game due to an illness, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc was absent from the team's morning skate, but it doesn't sound like he's at risk for the mumps or any other contagious virus. Coach Mike Johnston characterized Goc's situation as "just sickness, nothing else." The bottom-six forward should be healthy within a few days.

Pens' Goc Dealing With Illness

News: Marcel Goc didn't practice Monday due to an illness, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc's illness could be a number of things, but the mumps has been passed around the league this season, and has hit a number of Penguins players. Although there is no indication that's the illness Goc is dealing with, it wouldn't be surprising if he gets tested for the virus. For now, he should be considered day-to-day until more information about his condition becomes available.

Pens' Goc Back In Thursday

News: Marcel Goc (foot) was on the ice for pregame warmups and looks set to play Thursday against the Canucks, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc was centering the fourth line during rushes and looks ready to go after a two-game absence. He's a useful grinder and generally fares well on face-offs, but with just one point in 22 games, the fantasy appeal is minimal.

Pens' Goc Could Play Thursday

News: Marcel Goc (foot) is a possibility to play Thursday versus the Canucks.
Analysis: Marcel Goc centered the Penguins' fourth line at Wednesday's practice and didn't experience any notable setbacks during the session. The Penguins will likely evaluate his health Thursday morning before deciding if he's fit to play.

Pens' Goc Skates

News: Marcel Goc (foot) skated on his own prior to Monday's practice.
Analysis: Marcel Goc is still considered day-to-day with the foot injury, but it's not a good sign that he's not fully participating in practice yet. He looks doubtful to suit up for Tuesday's game against the Devils at this point.

Penguins' Goc Out Saturday

News: Marcel Goc (foot) will not play Saturday against the Hurricanes.

Penguins Coach Not Concerned About Goc's Injury

News: Head coach Mike Johnston does not believe the foot injury that knocked Marcel Goc out of Friday's game is "anything concerning."
Analysis: Johnston did not provide much for details regarding Marcel Goc's status, so it remains to be seen if the injury will prevent Goc from playing in Pittsburgh's next game Saturday.

Pens' Goc A Nonfactor So Far

News: Marcel Goc went minus-2 over his 11:47 of action in Saturday's loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: The minus-2 puts Marcel Goc on the negative side of the plus/minus ledger for the season, but that's not the only area the center has made little to no impact for the Pens. He's contributed just one point, 18 shot attempts, 17 hits and two penalty minutes in 19 games.

Pens' Goc Quiet In Game 5 Return

News: Marcel Goc went pointless in just over 10 minutes of ice time Saturday against Columbus.
Analysis: In his first action since late March, Marcel Goc struggled. His first-period slashing minor led to the Blue Jackets' only goal. Goc, who is counted on as a faceoff man, went 5-for-6 in the dot. He rang up three hits but saw his ice time limited to even-strength play.

News: Marcel Goc (foot) took part in Wednesday's morning skate, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
