Goc Re-Ups With Penguins For One Year

News: Marcel Goc re-signed with the Penguins on a one-year, $1.2 million contract Tuesday.
Analysis: Marcel Goc came over to the Penguins from the Panthers at last season's trade deadline, appearing in 12 games thanks to a foot injury. When healthy, the 30-year-old did prove vital on faceoffs, winning 57.3 percent of his draws. As the Penguins roster currently lies, he'll serve as either the team's third- or fourth-line center.

Pens' Goc Quiet In Game 5 Return

News: Marcel Goc went pointless in just over 10 minutes of ice time Saturday against Columbus.
Analysis: In his first action since late March, Marcel Goc struggled. His first-period slashing minor led to the Blue Jackets' only goal. Goc, who is counted on as a faceoff man, went 5-for-6 in the dot. He rang up three hits but saw his ice time limited to even-strength play.

Pens' Goc Back From Injury For Game 5

News: Marcel Goc (foot) is back in the lineup for Saturday's Game 5, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Out since March 27, Marcel Goc will finally make his return. After scoring 25 points in 74 regular-season games (including just two points in 12 games with Pittsburgh), he may not see much of the ice now that the Pens are fairly healthy.

Pens' Goc Could Be Back In Round 1

News: Marcel Goc (foot) took part in Wednesday's morning skate, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc won't be in the lineup for Wednesday's Game 4, but head coach Dan Bylsma did say it's possible he could be back before the end of the first round. The center recorded 11 goals and 14 assists in 74 games this season, but hasn't suited up since March 27 due to a foot injury.

Pens' Goc Skates Sunday

News: Marcel Goc (foot) skated with the healthy scratches of Saturday's Game 2 during Sunday's optional session.
Analysis: While the activity is encouraging, the fact that Marcel Goc has yet to partake in a full practice since sustaining the injury would suggest he won't be available for Monday's Game 3. He could be eyeing a return later in the series.

Pens' Goc (Foot) Yet To Return To Practice

News: Marcel Goc (foot) has not yet been deemed ready to practice, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Coach Dan Bylsma said after Saturday's practice that team trainers are yet to clear Marcel Goc, as he continues to nurse a foot injury that's held him out since March 27. Of course, he won't play in Saturday's Game 2, but the possibility remains that he could make his return later in the series.

Pens' Goc Skates

News: Marcel Goc (foot) skated on his own prior to Wednesday's practice, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc hasn't played since March 27, and likely won't be in the lineup Wednesday against the Blue Jackets, but it's good to see him back on the ice. We'll know he's close to a return when he starts fully participating in practice.

Pens' Goc Out Three Weeks With Foot Injury

News: Marcel Goc will miss three weeks with a foot injury.
Analysis: Marcel Goc hadn't scored a goal with the Penguins since joining the team on March 5, and it looks like that won't happen for a while. The 30-year-old forward has 11 goals and 14 assists on the season, and could rejoin the Penguins in the playoffs.

Pens' Goc Suffers Injury Thursday

News: Marcel Goc suffered a lower-body injury during Thursday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: Penguins coach Dan Bylsma did not provide any details, but the injury to Marcel Goc's left ankle appeared pretty serious -- he was unable to put any weight on the leg. The 30-year-old forward notched his second point as a Penguin before exiting, but he's yet to score a goal with his new team.

Penguins Acquire Goc From Panthers

News: Marcel Goc was traded to the Penguins on Wednesday in exchange for future third- and fifth-round draft picks, Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: There's speculation that the Marcel Goc acquisition could merely be setting up another move by the Penguins, but for now, he's the consolation prize at forward after the team missed out on acquiring Ales Hemsky earlier on deadline day. Goc has primarily played center over his career but could be forced to transition to wing with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin entrenched as the top two centers on the depth chart. Playing alongside either Crosby or Malkin would significantly bolster his fantasy value even with a position change, but it's possible that he could be ticketed for bottom-six duty instead.

Panthers' Goc Gets Goal No. 10 Tuesday

News: Marcel Goc scored his 10th goal of the season in Tuesday's win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: With 21 points so far this season and 26 games still remaining on the Panthers' schedule, Marcel Goc appears in line to surpass his previous career best of 30 points, established in 2008-09 with the Predators. That sort of modest scoring to go along with his minus-8 rating won't be enough to attract interest in most fantasy leagues, but those in deep leagues could certainly do worse than Goc in looking to round out their forward ranks.

Goc Nets Two Points In Panthers Win

News: Marcel Goc tallied a goal and an assist in the Panthers' 5-4 shootout victory over the Predators, Saturday night.
Analysis: With eight goals and eight assists in 42 games, Marcel Goc has produced numbers consistent with his career average. Despite some offensive talent, Goc's downside is that he does not log regular power-play time and therefore is a risky addition to any fantasy squad.

Goc Nets Two Points In Panthers' Loss

News: Marcel Goc tallied a goal and an assist in Tuesday night's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers.
Analysis: Despite early season struggles, Marcel Goc has now recorded three points in his last four games. The German forward has produced at a roughly a half-a-point per game clip throughout his career and should be able to muster 30-40 points if he stays healthy the rest of the season.

Goc Racks Up Penalty Minutes In Panthers' Loss

News: Marcel Goc recorded 17 penalty minutes in the Panthers' 3-2 shootout loss to the Capitals on Saturday.
Analysis: Those who had Marcel Goc in their lineup on Saturday were unexpectedly rewarded by his fight with Michael Latta of the Capitals. Goc received a fighting major, a 10-minute misconduct, and the instigator penalty for the incident. Don't expect Goc to rack up the penalty minutes going forward as Saturday's fight was certainly an anomaly.

Panthers' Goc Scores Two In Opener

News: Marcel Goc scored two goals as the Panthers came from behind in the third period Thursday to beat the Stars, 4-2, in the season opener.
Analysis: Marcel Goc crashed the net on a three-on-two and buried a nice feed from Tomas Fleischmann to give the Panthers a 3-2 lead late in the third period. He then added an empty-net tally three minutes later to ensure the victory.

Florida's Goc (Upper Body) Practices Monday

News: Marcel Goc (upper body) returned to practice Monday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc sat out the third period of Saturday's exhibition game with the upper body injury, but it appears a day of rest was all he needed to get back close to full health. Expect to see him on the ice for Thursday's opener against Dallas as a member of Florida's second line.

Panthers' Goc Suffers Upper-Body Injury

News: Marcel Goc suffered an upper-body injury during Saturday's exhibition contest and was held out of the game as a precaution, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Harvey Fialkov reports.
Analysis: While the injury doesn't sound serious, it may be worth keeping an eye on Marcel Goc's status with the start of the season less than a week ago. The oft-injured German forward tallied 19 points (nine goals) in 42 games last season.

Panthers' Goc Heating Up

News: Marcel Goc notched a goal and an assist in Tuesday's loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: With Tuesday's multipoint night, Marcel Goc has four points in his last four starts and an even plus/minus. The center will look to continue his production Thursday against the Rangers, where he has registered no points in one contest this season.

Panthers' Goc Likely To Go Tuesday

News: Marcel Goc, who missed the Panthers' morning skate, was present for warmups prior to Tuesday night's game against the Islanders, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc was apparently dealing with some unspecified soreness, but it looks like something that he will be able to play through, based on Tuesday's warmups.

Panthers' Goc Questionable Tuesday

News: Marcel Goc (soreness) is questionable for Tuesday night's game against the Isles, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc is dealing with some unspecified soreness, according to head coach Kevin Dineen. He has 14 points in 35 games this season while centering Florida's second line.

Panthers' Goc Picks Up Two Points

News: Marcel Goc scored a goal and assisted on another in Thursday's shootout loss to Buffalo, his second straight multi-point game.
Analysis: He also had a goal and an assist Tuesday, giving him four points in his last two games after he'd collected just two points in his first 12.

Panthers' Goc Grabs Assist In Season Debut

News: Marcel Goc returned to the lineup after missing the start of the year with an ankle injury and skated 16:48, notching an assist and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's win over Winnipeg.
Analysis: Marcel Goc didn't look all the way back, and his offensive contributions are generally limited even in the best of days, as he's one of those players who's more valuable on the ice in his defensive/penalty-killing role than in your fantasy lineup.

Panthers' Goc (Ankle) To Debut Thursday

News: Marcel Goc (ankle) will make his season debut Thursday against the Jets, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc's return to the team's penalty kill unit will undoubtedly benefit the Panthers, who have struggled defending power play situations of late. Offensively, Goc's skill as a puckhandler should allow for several assist opportunities skating alongside Thomas Fleischmann and Kris Versteeg. Goc could be worthy of a pickup in most formats if he's still floating around on waivers.

Panthers' Goc Goes Through Drills Monday

News: Marcel Goc (ankle) went through drills Monday wearing a non-contact jersey.

Panthers' Goc Participates In Thursday's Practice

News: Marcel Goc (ankle) took part in practice Thursday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Marcel Goc has been ruled out for Saturday and Tuesday's games, but has showed signs he is close to returning as he continues to practice with the team.
