Ivanans Out For Flames' Second Game

News: Ivanans (concussion) likely won't play Sunday against the Kings, the Calgary Herald reports.

Flames' Ivanans Knocked Out in Fight

News: Ivanans was injured in a fight with Edmonton's Steve MacIntyre in Thursday's opener and is expected to miss at least some time, according to the Calgary Herald.
Analysis: We're never happy to see a guy get hurt, but this fight is certainly worth watching if you do a simple Google search. Ivanans was doing better Friday, but don't be surprised if Tim Jackman needs to take over the enforcer duties for a game or two, as Ivanans may have suffered a concussion.

Ivanans jumps back into lineup

News: The Sports Xchange reports LW Raitis Ivanans returned to the Kings' lineup on Tuesday against the Maple Leafs, after being a healthy scratch in the previous game. Ivanans took the lineup spot of LW Teddy Purcell, a former second-line wing who recently had been demoted to the fourth line for a lack of scoring.
Analysis: Ivanans still has no points in 47 games this season, but he has gotten into 10 fights and has racked up 110 penalty minutes. Coach Terry Murray tells Ivanans to be aggressive and stand up for his teammates. Ivanans is obviously best used in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM.

News: Kings LW Raitis Ivanans totaled four penalties and 16 infraction minutes on Wednesday against the Flames. Ivanans got all his penalty minutes in the first period. He received two roughing minors, one interference call and a game misconduct. He now has 51 penalty minutes in 12 December games.
Analysis: Ivanans already has 96 penalty minutes and is well on his way to eclipsing his career-high of 145 PIM set last season. He also has gotten into eight fights through 37 games. Ivanans is obviously best used in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM when healthy since he has no points on the season.

News: Kings LW Raitis Ivanans failed to record a point and finished at minus-1 in 3:29 of ice time on Wednesday against the Sharks. He also failed to record a penalty for the second straight game.
Analysis: Ivanans has 59 penalty minutes in 30 games this season and has gotten into seven fights. He doesn't go often without an infraction, so don't worry about his recent two-game slide. Ivanans is obviously best used in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM when healthy since he has no points on the season.

News: Kings LW Raitis Ivanans returned to the lineup Friday against the Canucks after missing five games with an upper-body injury. He failed to record a point in 5:38 of ice time and finished at even.
Analysis: The Kings finally got their top enforcer back in action Friday, although Ivanans was able to stay out of the penalty box. Ivanas has only two points on the season but has a team-high 115 penalty minutes in 61 games. Ivanans is obviously best used in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM when healthy.

News: Los Angeles placed LW Raitis Ivanans (upper body) on the injured list on Sunday and took Tom Preissing off the IR. According to The Los Angeles Times, Ivanans collided with a Red Wings player in the second period of Friday's game at Detroit and ended up with an injury.

Ivanans suffers upper-body injury

News: Kings LW Raitis Ivanans left Friday's game against the Kings early in the second period because of an upper-body injury. He is day-to-day and will be evaluated when the team arrives in Chicago on Saturday. Ivanans didn't have a point in 4:01 of ice time and finished at even.
Analysis: Ivanans is the Kings muscle when he is on the ice, so they really want him back in the lineup ASAP. Ivanans is best used in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM when healthy.

Ivanans back in lineup Saturday

News: The Sports Xchange reports the Kings' coaching staff spent most of the week preaching the value of team toughness, and designated enforcer Raitis Ivanans returned to the lineup Saturday against the Stars after a message-sending healthy scratch by coach Terry Murray on Thursday. There were no fights in Saturday's game, but the Kings nearly got too aggressive. Late in the first period, Dallas' Steve Ott delivered a clean, relatively benign hit on Kings center Anze Kopitar. Ivanans immediately jumped on a surprised Ott and drew a roughing penalty, but the Kings were able to kill off the ensuing power play.
Analysis: All this hostility from the Kings' coaching staff comes after Los Angeles showed little passion after Tampa Bay enforcer David Koci knocked rookie defenseman Drew Doughty out of Monday's game. Murray benching Ivanans was a message to the entire team to increase their toughness. That could actually help Ivanans rack up more penalty minutes in the second half knowing his coach wants him to stand up for teammates. Ivanans is best used in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM.

Ivanans racks up 15 penalty minutes

News: Tampa Bay's David Koci and Kings enforcer Raitis Ivanans both received fighting majors and 10-minute misconducts at 17:33 of the opening period Monday. The brawl appeared to spark the Lightning, who opened the scoring 43 seconds later after managing just three shots on net to that point.
Analysis: Ivanans has taken six major penalties this season and received his fourth career game misconduct Monday. He is the Kings' top tough guy and isn't afraid to stick up for his teammates. Ivanans is still on the ice for his enforcer skills and is best used in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM.

Ivanans finds scoring touch

News: The Sports Xchange reports LW Raitis Ivanans scored the Kings' first goal Saturday against the Coyotes. Ivanans, typically known only as the Kings' designated enforcer, now has two goals in his last three games. Before the first goal, on Dec. 23 against Columbus, Ivanans had not recorded a point this season.
Analysis: Fantasy owners shouldn't get used to seeing Ivanans light the lamp. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while. Ivanans is still on the ice for his enforcer skills and is best used in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM.

Ivanans plays through the flu

Analysis: Ivanans doesn't have a point in 2008-09. He has 54 penalty minutes and a minus-9 rating. He isn't going to help Fantasy owners much in standard leagues, but Ivanans is a nice option in leagues that reward heavily for PIM.

Analysis: Ivanans doesn't even have a point in 2008-09. He has 52 penalty minutes and a minus-9 rating. He isn't going to help Fantasy owners much in standard leagues, but Ivanans is a nice option in leagues that reward heavily for PIM.
