LaRose Wants To Return To NHL: Carolina Possible?

News: Chad LaRose is interested in returning to the NHL after sitting out last season, reports the Raleigh News Observer, and may be signed to a professional tryout by Carolina.
Analysis: "I'd like to talk to him," said general manager Ron Francis. "He took a year off and obviously he'd need to earn his way back. There are some options. We could get him to camp on a tryout. He could start the season in Charlotte (AHL), show that he could still do it." Chad LaRose is a high-energy player whose petulant end to the 2012-13 saw him fail to get a contract from any team for last season. But he seems to have perhaps figured out what he needs to do to continue his career. Unfortunately, his fantasy value will be limited.

Canes' LaRose Out With Flu

News: Chad LaRose has the flu and will not be available for Thursday's game against Toronto, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Chad LaRose, who was just activated off the IR following a concussion, remains a possibility for Saturday's game against the Jets. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Hurricanes Activate LaRose

News: The Hurricanes have activated Chad LaRose (concussion) from IR, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Chad LaRose, who has missed the Hurricanes' last 10 games, skated on a line with Jordan Staal and Jeff Skinner during the team's morning skate in advance of Tuesday's contest against the Jets.

Canes Place LaRose On IR

News: The Hurricanes placed Chad LaRose (concussion) on IR on Wednesday.
Analysis: With concussion symptoms, there's really no way to tell how long the winger will be out. The Canes brought up defenseman Brett Bellemore from AHL Charlotte to take Chad LaRose's spot on the roster.

Canes' LaRose (Concussion) Stays Home To Be Evaluated

News: Chad LaRose stayed home from Sunday's game in Florida to be further evaluated for concussion-like symptoms.
Analysis: Chad LaRose played Saturday against the Lightning, scoring two points (one goal, one assist), so it is likely that is when he suffered the possible concussion. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Canes' LaRose: Goal And Assist

News: Chad LaRose scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: He finally woke up from a season-long slumber to pick up his second and third point overall. Trouble is he probably won't stay on the second line for long -- Jeff Skinner is back on skates and may not be out long.

Canes' LaRose Bumped To Second Line

News: Chad LaRose was skating on the Hurricanes' second line in place of Jeff Skinner (concussion) at practice Wednesday, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Chad LaRose has just a single goal in 13 games so far this season, after having scored 32, 31 and 28 points, respectively, the past three seasons. If he can stick on the second unit alongside Jordan Staal and Patrick Dwyer, his fantasy value would increase significantly. Don't rush out and grab him off the waiver wire just yet, but monitor closely and watch for any subsequent spike in his output.

LaRose Nets Carolina's Only Regulation Goal

News: Chad LaRose was the only Hurricane to score during regulation in front of a home crowd Thursday night. The Michigan native also picked up two minor penalties and five shots on net in the shootout victory over Montreal.
Analysis: Given how much time #59 missed in January and February due to injury, Chad LaRose's points production this year has been better than most anticipated. The veteran forward's shots on net volume has also been impressive this year; only Eric Staal and Jeff Skinner have tallied more for the Canes.

Canes' LaRose Scores Game-Winner

News: Chad LaRose scored the game-winning goal in Carolina's 4-3 win over Winnipeg on Sunday, his 17th tally of the season.
Analysis: That gives Chad LaRose a goal in each of the last three games. Ride this hot streak out as long as you can.

LaRose Out Saturday For Carolina

Hurricane' LaRose Could Miss A Week

News: Chad LaRose (upper body) was not at practice Wednesday, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: The report adds that Chad LaRose could be out a week. LaRose's 22 points in 49 games have been helpful to those in deeper leagues, but his minus-18 rating is a drain for those who count that category.

Carolina's LaRose Out Friday

News: Chad LaRose (upper body) will miss Friday's game against San Jose, Hurricanes.NHL.com's Michael Smith reports.
Analysis: Given that Chad LaRose has already been ruled out for Friday's game, he appears very iffy for Saturday's game against the Islanders, too.

Canes' Muller: LaRose Is Healthy

News: Hurricanes coach Kirk Muller said after practice Sunday that Chad LaRose (illness) is now healthy, the team's official Twitter page reports.
Analysis: The illness forced Chad LaRose to miss the Canes last two games, but he had also been dealing with a lower body injury just prior to getting sick. However, it's likely that he'll be active for Wednesday's game against Anaheim.

Canes' LaRose Inactive For Saturday's Game

News: Chad LaRose (illness) will not play on Saturday, the Raleigh News & Observer's Chip Alexander reports.
Analysis: It is probably safe to assume Chad LaRose is still sick and this is not a healthy scratch. He should be better in time for the Canes' next game, which is Wednesday against the Ducks.

LaRose Out For Carolina Thursday

News: Chad LaRose (illness) will miss Thursday's game against Boston, Raleigh News & Observer writer Chip Alexander reports.
Analysis: Drayson Bowman will replace him in the lineup. With three assists in his last four games, Bowman could be worth a spot-start gamble in deep leagues.

Canes' LaRose Day-To-Day With Illness

News: Chad LaRose is day-to-day with an illness, the Hurricanes' official Twitter feed reports.

Canes' LaRose Good To Go

News: Chad LaRose (head) is "good to go" according to Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News and Observer.
Analysis: Chad LaRose has been dealing with a head injury so this is great news for LaRose owners and supporters. Be careful, though, for the Hurricanes may ease him back into the lineup in terms of playing time.

Canes' LaRose Out For 7-10 Days

News: Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford says that Chad LaRose will be out for at least a week, and possibly 10 days, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News and Observer reports.
Analysis: The stars are not aligning for Chad LaRose recently. After recovering from a head injury sustained in practice, LaRose is out again and will return, at the earliest, after the All-Star break.

Hurricanes' LaRose Leaves With Lower Body Injury

News: Chad LaRose left Monday's game with a lower body injury and will not return, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: He was recently slowed by an undisclosed upper body injury, so it doesn't sound like this ailment is related. For now, consider him day-to-day.

Hurricanes' LaRose Returns Saturday

News: Chad LaRose (upper body) played 11:30 and fired four shots on goal in his return to the lineup Saturday.
Analysis: He skated on the team's third line in his return, but managed to see some power-play action. Chad LaRose has been playing at a near 40-point pace this season and could be a useful option in deeper formats as he picks up his usual share of minutes in the coming weeks.

Panthers' LaRose Won't Play Friday, But Will Travel To NY

News: Chad LaRose (upper body) will not play Friday against Washington, but will travel with the team to Long Island, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: Chad LaRose is very likely to play Saturday against the Islanders. He just shed the non-contact jersey Friday, but it appears LaRose has recovered from a January 9 injury he suffered in practice.
