Blackhawks' Vermette Comes Up Clutch Once Again

News: Antoine Vermette netted the game-winning goal in Game 5 Saturday against Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette has come through in the clutch this postseason, scoring three game-winning goals -- second-most in the NHL. He's scored two game-winners in the Stanley Cup Finals alone and is a key reason why the Blackhawks have a shot at winning the Stanley Cup Tuesday in Game 6. While he's only put up seven points, the trade deadline acquisition is sporting a solid plus-5 rating and has shown he can deliver when it matters most.

Hawks' Vermette Scores Game 1 Winner

News: Antoine Vermette notched his third goal of the playoffs in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday, potting the game-winner in the third period against Tampa.
Analysis: The Blackhawks were hoping that Antoine Vermette would pick up some of the scoring slack after being acquired from the Coyotes while Patrick Kane was still hurt at the trade deadline, but he disappointed, registering three assists in 19 games. While he hasn't done a whole lot more than that in the postseason, two of his three playoff goals have been game-winners.

Point Streak Hits Three Games For Hawks' Vermette

News: Antoine Vermette tallied an assist and won eight of his 12 faceoffs in Wednesday's Game 6 win over the Ducks.
Analysis: Three of Antoine Vermette's five postseason points have come in the last three games, helping him atone for a miserable start to his Blackhawks career. With linemate and prized rookie Teuvo Teravainen beginning to pick up his performance in the Western Conference Finals, Vermette could start to become a larger focal point of the Blackhawks' offense for the duration of their stay in the playoffs.

Chicago's Vermette Ties Series At 2-2

News: Antoine Vermette supplied the game-winning goal in double overtime of Saturday's Game 4 victory over the Ducks.
Analysis: After serving as a healthy scratch in Game 3, Antoine Vermette rewarded coach Joel Quenneville's decision to slot him back into the lineup by rebounding his own shot attempt and putting the puck past the Ducks' Frederik Andersen in the game's 85th minute. The center also won 14 of 20 faceoffs in the contest, which should be enough to guarantee his place in the lineup for the remainder of the series.

Hawks' Vermette Back In Lineup For Game 4

News: Antoine Vermette, who was a healthy scratch for Game 3 in the Stanley Cup Western Conference Finals, will be in the lineup for Game 4 on Saturday night against the Ducks, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Both Antoine Vermette and Teuvo Teravainen were healthy scratches for Game 3. The lack of offense in the 2-1 loss in Game 3 gave Hawks' coach Joel Quenneville a change of mind for Game 4. Teravainen and Vermette rejoined Patrick Sharp on the Blackhawks' third line during the team's morning skate at the United Center on Saturday.

Blackhawks' Vermette A Healthy Scratch Thursday

News: Antoine Vermette was a healthy scratch Thursday for Game 3 because head coach Joel Quenneville wanted fresh legs on the ice, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette and Teuvo Teravainen were both scratched for Game 3, but both were out of the lineup due to fatigue rather than injury. During Tuesday's marathon game in Anaheim, Vermette logged 21:14 minutes on the ice. After being rested Thursday, Vermette should draw back in Saturday for Game 4.

Vermette Rewards Hawks' Faith In Game 4

News: Antoine Vermette scored his first goal as a Blackhawk and went plus-1 with a pair of penalty minutes in Tuesday's Game 4 triple-overtime victory against Nashville.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette managed only three points -- all assists -- in 19 games with Chicago after coming over in a deadline deal, and he was held off the scoresheet in his 2015 playoff debut Sunday. However, he made his presence felt this time by winning 12 of 20 faceoffs and finally breaking through in the goal column. That should be enough to keep Vermette in the lineup, at least for a little while.

Blackhawks' Vermette Rejoins Lineup Sunday

News: Antoine Vermette will rejoin the lineup for Game 3 Sunday against the Predators, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette was scratched from the first two games for performance-based reasons, but will re-enter the lineup Sunday as the Blackhawks look to retake the series lead against the Predators. The team hasn't clarified yet who will sit in his place.

Blackhawks Make Vermette A Healthy Scratch

News: Antoine Vermette will be a healthy scratch for Game 1 of the Blackhawks' first-round playoff series against the Predators, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Coach Joel Quenneville suggested that Antoine Vermette's scratch was for performance-based reasons, as his no goals and three points over 19 games with the Blackhawks clearly registered as a disappointment. Even so, it's still surprising that Vermette will be banished to the press box, considering that the Blackhawks gave up a 2015 first-round pick to the Coyotes in February to acquire him. Perhaps the team is already writing Vermette off as a sunk cost.

Vermette Fails To Score Goal For Blackhawks

News: Antoine Vermette went without a point in Saturday's regular-season finale against the Avalanche, giving him no goals and three assists over his 19 games with the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Even during his time as the Coyotes' top center earlier in the season, Antoine Vermette was never regarded as a premier scorer, but rather for his competence in a variety of different facets, most notably the faceoff circle. However, the Blackhawks surely expected more than the three points he provided after coming over prior to the trade deadline, especially since he was flanked by far superior talent than what he had in the desert. Vermette's ineffectiveness could end up costing him ice time during the playoffs, or quite possibly even his lineup spot, as he wasn't skating on a regular line during Monday's practice, reports CSN Chicago's Tracey Myers.

Two Assists First Points For Vermette As A Hawk

News: Antoine Vermette collected two assists in Saturday's 6-3 rout of the Sharks.
Analysis: It took nearly five full games, but the newest Blackhawk finally found the scoresheet after coming over from the Coyotes at the trade deadline. Antoine Vermette has been spending most of his time centering Chicago's second line between 21-goal scorer Brandon Saad and highly-touted rookie Teuvo Teravainen, so expect to see the 32-year-old's name on the scoresheet more often going forward.

Hawks' Vermette Gets Shootout Winner on Friday

News: Antoine Vermette is scoreless in two games with the Blackhawks, but he was the lone Chicago player to register a score in the shootout victory over the Oilers on Friday.
Analysis: The addition of Antoine Vermette only strengthens a potent Blackhawks shootout team. Despite not getting on the scoring sheet in two games since the trade from Arizona, Vermette produced some promising chances in regulation and overtime against the Oilers. He also won 58 percent of his faceoffs against Edmonton.

Hawks' Vermette Decent In Debut

News: Antoine Vermette was so-so in his debut with the Blackhawks on Monday against the Panthers after the deadline deal with Arizona last week, ESPN Chicago reports. He skated for just under 13 minutes and only won 29 percent of his faceoffs.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette should see a bigger role on Friday against the Oilers. He centered the second line on Monday, with a takeaway and a giveway in the game. It will take some time to adjust to the Blackhawks' system -- but with Edmonton and Arizona, his former team, in two out of the next three games on the schedule, it will help him adjust.

Hawks' Vermette To Debut On Second Line

News: Coach Joel Quenneville confirmed Antoine Vermette would make his team debut Monday against the Hurricanes, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette skated between Patrick Sharp and Brandon Saad on the second line at the Blackhawks' morning skate, and figures to be deployed there in his team debut. The center is more valuable in real life than in the fantasy realm, as his modest 35 points and minus-23 rating with the Coyotes would suggest, but by virtue of playing alongside more talented linemates than he enjoyed in Arizona, his per-game scoring rates and plus/minus rating both figure to notice improvement.

Vermette Traded To Chicago

News: Antoine Vermette was traded to the Blackhawks on Saturday for prospect defenseman Klas Dahlbeck and a 2015 first-round pick, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette, who played his final game with the Coyotes earlier in the day Saturday, immediately slots into Chicago's top six and notices a significant jump in his fantasy value. With 13 goals and 22 assists in 63 games with Arizona, Vermette won't immediately fill the scoring void felt by Patrick Kane's (fractured clavicle) loss, but his special-teams skills and dominance in the faceoff circle will make the Blackhaks significantly deeper down the middle. The 32-year-old is just a rental for the Blackhawks, as he'll be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

Yotes' Vermette Scores Team's Only Goal In Loss

News: Antoine Vermette netted the Coyotes only goal in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers. He has four points in his last seven games.
Analysis: He's also one of the Yotes most desirable trade chips and could be on a speed train outta town at any point in the next few weeks. And that means his fantasy value will go up. Keep an eye on his landing spot -- he might bring you a cheap boost when it happens.

Coyotes' Vermette Scores Big Goals In Win

News: Antoine Vermette scored his 12th goal of the season in regulation Monday, then scored the winner in the shootout in a 3-2 win over Chicago.
Analysis: An unrestricted free agents after the season, Antoine Vermette is a very good complementary player masquerading as a first-line center in Arizona. He has 34 points in 54 games and is in the league's top 10 in faceoff wins and winning percentage. Vermette's widely expected to be moved to a contender down the stretch as Arizona starts rebuilding, but his fantasy value shouldn't spike too dramatically in the event of a trade.

Coyotes' Vermette Notches Two Points

News: Antoine Vermette picked up a couple assists -- one on a power play, the other on an empty-netter -- in Tuesday's win over the Jackets.
Analysis: It's a cheap route to a multi-point game, grabbing a secondary helper and an empty-netter, but Antoine Vermette won't complain and neither will his fantasy owners. He's actually on a better pace than last year as far as point production, but his goal-scoring has dropped sharply, which can be entirely attributed to a stunning reduction in shooting. Vermette has just 70 shots in 51 games, and he's taken one or zero shots in a stunning 12 of the last 15 games.

Coyotes' Vermette Wins 23 Faceoffs

News: Antoine Vermette won 23 of his 29 faceoffs in Saturday's win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: That kind of proficiency isn't new territory for Antoine Vermette, who ranks third in the NHL with 621 faceoff victories, while upholding a 56.1 winning percentage. His continued dominance in that area has helped him make up for a stark dropoff in his goal total from a season ago.

Coyotes' Vermette Scores In Loss

News: Antoine Vermette scored his eleventh goal on the power play Saturday in a loss to the Wild. He was minus-1, took one shot and blocked one shot in the contest.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette is leading the Coyotes in scoring this season with 29 points, including 12 points on the power play, but with a minus-15 rating. He is among the league leaders in face-off winning percentage. If the Coyotes decided to make some moves for the future before the trade deadline Vermette is likely to be a target for some teams, which could put him in a better lineup and help his numbers down the stretch.

Coyotes' Vermette Chips In Two Helpers

News: Antoine Vermette contributed a pair of assists -- one on the power play -- to Thursday's 4-1 win over Winnipeg.
Analysis: The Coyotes' leading point-getter, Antoine Vermette had been held off the scoreboard in three straight games and seven of the last nine coming in. That's prety much the way this season's gone for the 'Yotes. Even with the nice stat line, Vermette has taken exactly one shot on goal (which came Thursday) in the last four games.

Coyotes' Vermette Returns To Practice

News: Antoine Vermette (face) was a participant in Wednesday's practice, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette was sporting a fat lip and required about six or seven stitches to seal up a few gashes, but aside from the cosmetic damage, he looks like he'll be good to go for the Coyotes' next game Thursday versus the Jets.

Yotes' Vermette Banged Up In Loss

News: Antoine Vermette wasn't able to finish Tuesday's game against the Blues after requiring stitches on two different occasions, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: The center required stitches near his nose and mouth area, but it sounds like the case where he just ran out of time to get back in the game after receiving medical attention. The expectation is that he'll be good to go for Thursday's game against the Jets, but we'll await confirmation on his availability.

Yotes' Vermette Scores Twice, Adds Assist

News: Antoine Vermette potted a pair of goals and added an assist in Monday's 4-2 win over the visiting Flyers.
Analysis: Antoine Vermette was originally on the scoresheet with a hat trick in this one, but his would-be third goal was eventually changed to Shane Doan. Vermette is up to 25 points in 36 games this season and even with an underwhelming supporting cast, the 32-year-old should be able to crack the 50-point barrier for the third time in his 11-year career.

Yotes' Vermette: Eight Points In 10 Games

News: Antoine Vermette stretched his point streak to three games and four points, including two goals, with a goal and assist in Saturday's loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Very quietly, Antoine Vermette has put up eight points, including four goals, in his last 10 games. He doesn't get as much love as he deserves in fantasy leagues, so he might just be out there on the wire. It's worth checking.
