Blackhawks' Daley Expects To Be Fine For Camp

News: Trevor Daley (hip), who was traded to the Blackhawks on Friday, said he'll be ready for the start of training camp, CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Trevor Daley underwent hip surgery in April with the expectation it wouldn't impact his 2015-16 season. Carrying a timetable of three-to-four months, he should be able to fit in some on-ice work before training camp. He'll provide the Blackhawks with some extra offensive punch along the blue line, following a 16-goal, 22-assist season for the Stars in just 68 games.

Daley Traded To Chicago

News: The Stars traded Trevor Daley and Ryan Garbutt to the Blackhawks in exchange for Patrick Sharp and Stephen Johns on Friday.
Analysis: Trevor Daley's acquisition may be a sign that the Blackhawks are planning on letting Johnny Oduya leave in free agency. Daley could be considered a significant upgrade on Oduya, especially offensively. He tallied 16 goals and 22 assists for a total of 38 points in 68 games with the Stars in 2014-15. Oduya, on the other hand, only managed a total of 10 points in 76 games with Chicago last season. Daley will likely immediately slot in as a member of the Hawks' top-four defender group. He's currently still recovering from hip surger he underwent in April, but should be ready for the start of Chicago's training camp in September.

Stars' Daley Undergoes Hip Surgery

News: Trevor Daley underwent hip surgery last Thursday and is expected to require 3-to-4 months of recovery time, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: The Stars didn't indicate Trevor Daley was due for any procedures during their after-season injury report, but it looks like he'll spend most of his summer off the ice while he recuperates. He's expected to be ready to go by the time training camp begins in September, and should enter the upcoming season as a useful option from the blue line across most fantasy formats. His 16 goals during the past season ranked fifth among all NHL defensemen.

Stars' Daley Gathers Assist In Win

News: Trevor Daley recorded an assist and went plus-1 in Monday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: After going minus-8 over his previous three games, Trevor Daley finally finished on the positive side of the ledger Monday. Though his overall minus-16 mark for the season represents something of a drag, Daley more than makes up for it with the ample offense he produces from the blueline. His 16 goals on the year place him near the top of the league lead among defensemen, and his 21 assists aren't too shabby either.

Stars' Daley Assists Twice In Return

News: Trevor Daley returned to the lineup Saturday, collecting two assists in 24:19 of ice time in Saturday's win over Vancouver.
Analysis: Trevor Daley had been out since March 3 with a knee injury, but returned in a big way Saturday, helping the Stars pick up their fifth win in six games. Daley now has 35 points in 62 games and appears back to full health. With 16 goals on the season, including six power-play tallies, Daley is worth adding if he's available.

Stars' Daley Back In Saturday

News: Trevor Daley (knee) will return to the lineup Saturday against the Canucks, Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: It will be Trevor Daley's first game since March 3, when he suffered a knee injury following a hit from the Isles' Matt Martin. While his return probably comes too late to help the Stars chase down a wild-card spot in the Western Conference, Daley should bolster many fantasy rosters with postseason play underway in many leagues. Despite the missed time, Daley's 16 goals still rank him tied for third among all NHL defensemen.

Stars' Daley Likely Out Friday

News: Trevor Daley (knee) isn't expected to return to the lineup Friday against the Oilers.
Analysis: The Stars believed that Trevor Daley would be able to play before the end of the team's three-game road trip, but it appears that might not happen until Saturday in Vancouver, if at all. The defenseman has been able to skate for a while now, though it's not clear if he's been able to get in enough contact work in yet to earn his way back in the lineup.

Stars' Daley Could Be Back During Road Trip

News: Trevor Daley (knee) could be ready to play at some point during the Stars' three-game road trip that begins Wednesday in Calgary, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Analysis: Trevor Daley has been skating for about a week now, and seems to be close to stepping up his involvement in practice in the near future. While Daley doesn't seem likely to suit up against the Flames, he may only require a couple hard skates before he's deemed ready to play in either or both of Friday's games against the Oilers and Saturday's tilt with the Canucks.

Stars' Daley Skates Tuesday

News: Trevor Daley (knee) skated on his own prior to Tuesday's practice, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: The Stars ruled Trevor Daley out for 2-to-4 weeks after he absorbed a knee-to-knee hit in a Mar. 3 game against the Islanders, but it appears the long end of that timetable looks like the more realistic return date for the blueliner. Coach Lindy Ruff indicated after Tuesday's session that Daley is now being viewed as 5-to-10 days away from a return, with the Stars first waiting for him to resume practicing with the team. That could happen before the end of the week.

Stars Rule Out Daley For 2-To-4 Weeks

News: Coach Lindy Ruff announced Thursday that Trevor Daley (lower body) would miss the next 2-to-4 weeks, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Trevor Daley was on the receiving end of a vicious knee-to-knee hit from the Isles' Matt Martin in the first period of Tuesday's match, which sent Daley to the locker room and earned Martin a one-game suspension. The loss of Daley, whose 16 goals on the season rank second among all blueliners, is yet another blow for a squad that is already missing its top player in Tyler Seguin (knee). In Daley's absence, Jordie Benn, Jyrki Jokipakka, and Patrik Nemeth will be guaranteed regular spots in the Dallas lineup, though none of those options possess nearly the same amount of offensive upside.

Stars' Daley Expected To Miss Time

News: Trevor Daley, who absorbed a knee-on-knee hit Tuesday against the Islanders, could be out for "weeks," according to coach Lindy Ruff, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: We'll look for a more precise timetable for Trevor Daley in the coming days, but at the very least, it seems safe to assume that the blueliner -- who has 33 points in 61 games to date -- won't play Thursday against the Panthers.

Stars' Daley Exits With Lower-Body Injury

News: Trevor Daley exited Tuesday's game against the Islanders with a lower-body injury.
Analysis: The Stars are labeling Trevor Daley as questionable to return, but it appears he's done for the night after succumbing to the ailment in his second shift of the night. The injury occurred when Daley took a knee-to-knee hit from the Isles' Matt Martin, who was assessed a five-minute major and 10-minute game misconduct penalties and ejected from the game. Daley, who is tied for second among blueliners this season with 16 goals, should be viewed as day-to-day until the Stars provide an update on his condition.

Stars' Daley Records 16th Goal In Loss

News: Trevor Daley scored his 16th goal of the season and had an assist in Saturday's 7-6 loss to Detroit.
Analysis: That's back-to-back multi-point games for Trevor Daley, who now has 31 points in 56 games. Averaging 23:31 of ice time and playing on the top power-play unit, the 31-year-old blueliner is a goal-scoring machine who is on pace to score more goals this season than he did in his previous three seasons combined.

Stars' Daley Tallies 15th Goal

News: Trevor Daley scored his 15th goal of the season Thursday, potting a second-period power-play tally in a loss to the Sharks.
Analysis: Trevor Daley's somewhat fluky, goal-heavy campaign continues. His shooting percentage is a sky-high 14.4 percent now -- more than double his career rate -- and he has more goals than assists (14). It's been quite the unexpected age-31 season for the veteran blueliner.

Stars' Daley Scores Another Shortie

News: Trevor Daley scored shorthanded for the second time in seven games Tuesday, potting the game-winner in the third period against Boston. He finished the night plus-3 with five shots on goal.
Analysis: One shortie from a defenseman in a whole season is a lot, and now Trevor Daley's got a pair. But the thing that has to make his fantasy owners happiest is that plus-3, as he's now pulled himself up to a minus-6 mark on the year; it was as bad as minus-16 in early December.

Stars' Daley Explodes For Three Points

News: Trevor Daley tallied a goal and two assists to claim first star honors in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Senators.
Analysis: Trevor Daley excelled in all three phases Thursday, recording a shorthanded goal and adding an assist at both even strength and with the man advantage. The shortie was just an empty-netter in the game's final minute, but it shouldn't obscure an extremely productive night for Daley and his fantasy owners. Daley's 12 goals put him in a four-way tie for first in the NHL among blueliners.

Stars' Daley Will Play Tuesday

News: Trevor Daley (groin) was on the ice for morning skate and looks poised to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Canadiens.
Analysis: Trevor Daley returned to practice Monday after missing the Stars' final three games prior to the All-Star break. The extra time off during the break was likely all Daley needed to get fully healthy, and he'll now be ready to rejoin Jason Demers on the Stars' second pairing Tuesday. The veteran leads all Dallas blueliners with 11 goals on the season.

Stars' Daley Expected To Return Tuesday

News: Trevor Daley (undisclosed) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Blue Jackets, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
Analysis: Trevor Daley appears on track to return for the first game of the second half despite an earlier report indicating he faced an uncertain timetable heading out of the break. The defenseman has shined over 43 games this season, posting 11 goals and 10 assists. He will look to match his first half totals starting with Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets, assuming he indeed returns.

Stars' Daley Faces Uncertain Timetable

News: Trevor Daley (undisclosed) may not be ready to return following the All-Star break, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
Analysis: Trevor Daley can officially be ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Bruins with the news, and could miss beyond that. The blueliner has starred this season, posting 11 goals and 10 assists through 43 games. However, the injury is likely somewhat serious given the uncertain timetable, though the team has decided not to reveal the exact nature.

Stars' Daley (Undisclosed) Out Saturday

News: Trevor Daley (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Capitals, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: As expected, Trevor Daley wasn't on the ice for the Stars' morning skate and will be forced to miss his first game of the season. His chances of playing in Sunday's contest against the Blackhawks wouldn't seem to be high either, creating an opportunity for either David Schlemko or Jyrki Jokipakka to make his mark on the Dallas blue line.

Stars' Daley Dealing With Injury

News: Trevor Daley sustained an undisclosed injury during Thursday's loss to the Jets and is doubtful to play Saturday against the Capitals, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: All of Trevor Daley, Brett Ritchie and Ales Hemsky sat out Friday's practice after acquiring injuries against the Jets, but coach Lindy Ruff said only Hemsky was likely to be healthy enough to play Saturday. The Stars will reevaluate Daley on Saturday morning before rendering a decision on his status for the game. David Schlemko would replace Daley in the lineup if he's unable to go.

Daley Scoring Again For Stars

News: Trevor Daley scored his third goal in four games Thursday against Winnipeg, representing the whole of the Dallas offense in a 2-1 loss.
Analysis: The late-third-period tally brought the game to within one, but that was all the Stars ended up managing. While Trevor Daley's fallen off his blistering early-season pace, he's nonetheless among the top goal-scoring defensemen in the league.

Stars' Daley: Goal, Five SOG In Win

News: Trevor Daley tallied his tenth goal of the season in Tuesday's triumph over the Senators.
Analysis: The blueliner fired off five shots and two PIM in addition to the goal, his 10th of the season. His plus/minus rating remains a drag at minus-9 for the season, but Trevor Daley has made some progress in that regard in recent games, going a collective plus-4 over his last four outings.

Stars' Daley Plays Season Low Number of Minutes

News: Trevor Daley had an assist, a plus-1 rating, and a season-low 17:23 in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Wild.
Analysis: Trevor Daley's low minute total can largely be chalked up to the team not pushing him too hard in a game that was out of hand. Especially since Saturday's game was the first of a back-to-back. Don't read too much into his time on ice.

Daley Scores Game-Winner For Dallas

News: Trevor Daley had a goal and a pair of shots in a win over Calgary on Friday.
Analysis: After going 15 games without scoring a goal, Trevor Daley has two goals in his last three games. He's also a plus-3 over that span with seven shots on goal. That's a big step in the right direction for Daley, who was averaging 1.25 shots per game with a minus-16 rating before the last three games.
