News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored twice during Friday's game against the Penguins. Nash broke through late in the first on the power play. He collected the puck behind the cage and tried a wraparound, the puck sliding to the right wing where Derick Brassard's wrister was blocked by Brent Johnson. Nash had skated to the slot and was knocked down. While still on his knees, the rebound came to him and he jammed the puck in for his seventh of the season. Nash then added his second goal of the game 5:37 into the second. Analysis: Nash has six goals in his last seven games with a pair of two-goal outings in that span. He has 17 points in his first 12 games and appears on his way to eclipsing his career-high 79 points he set last season. Nash has really become an all-around threat and remains a must-start Fantasy option.

Nash scored at 13:54 of the second period, spinning away from defenseman Brendan Mikkelson at the right of the net and throwing the puck through the crease before it deflected in off Scott Niedermayer's skate. Nash's empty-net goal completed the scoring with 16 seconds to go. Analysis: Nash finally had his first multi-goal outing of the season on Saturday, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been productive. He has failed to stat in just two of nine games and has 14 points on the year. Nash has really blossomed into one of the NHL's best all-around players and remains a must-start Fantasy option at all times.

Even though he inked a major contract extension in the offseason, Nash continues to play his heart out and is one of the NHL's best all-around players. Continue to start him in all Fantasy formats.

Nash eyeing another 40-goal season Nash eyeing another 40-goal season Updated 9/26/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: The Sports Xchange reports Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash has two 40-goal seasons on his resume, yet he's never had a true No. 1 center on his line. Last year, he put up 40 goals playing mostly with checker Manny Malhotra. That number could go much higher -- he and Derick Brassard have shown great chemistry in the preseason. Analysis: Nash can get back to playing hockey this season after he dealt with the 10-pound elephant in the room and signed a long-term contract in the offseason. Nash set the club mark with 79 points (40 goals, 39 assists in 78 games) in 2008-09. Since the Blue Jackets traded up to take him with the No. 1 pick in the 2002 draft, Nash has been the face of the franchise. He shared the Rocket Richard Trophy for leading goal-scorer with Calgary's Jarome Iginla and Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk in 2003-2004. He's been a productive All-Star the last three season. He does it all for the Blue Jackets and only seems to be getting better. Consider Nash a must-own Fantasy forward Draft Day.
Nash lands long-term extension Nash lands long-term extension Updated 7/3/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Rick Nash and the Columbus Blue Jackets have reached agreement on an eight-year contract extension through the 2017-18 season. Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson confirmed the signing to The Associated Press on Friday night. The Canadian Press first reported the signing, saying the deal is worth $62.4 million. Nash will make $7 million in 2009-10. Analysis: It was just a few days ago that Nash's side and the Blue Jackets seemed far apart on a new deal, but the two parties got to work and hammered out a deal. It's a tremendous weight lifted off Nash's shoulders heading into the '09-10 season.
Nash, Columbus ready to talk Nash, Columbus ready to talk Updated 6/30/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: The clock begins ticking for the Columbus Blue Jackets and captain Rick Nash on Wednesday. Nash has one year left on his contract with the only NHL team for which he has played, and the Blue Jackets want to sign him to a long-term deal before he can become an unrestricted free agent next summer. One of the top forwards in the league, it's not just a wild rumor that the Toronto Maple Leafs covet the kid who grew up in suburban Brampton. And the Maple Leafs aren't the only ones. "We'll talk very early in the free agency period," Columbus general manager Scott Howson said. "We'll see if there's a contract that we can agree to here sometime this summer. I'm optimistic we can re-sign him but until you sit down and start having discussions, you never really know." Analysis: Nash will be making $7 million in the final year of his contract with the Blue Jackets. He has played six full years in the NHL, yet turned just 25 earlier this month. His agent, Joe Resnick, said Tuesday that Nash loves Columbus and the Blue Jackets. But that only goes so far. "Confident of a deal? It's really up to the Blue Jackets," he said. "We're definitely going to listen and take in everything they have to say. Hopefully we can get a deal done." With the NHL salary cap rising $100,000 from last season to $56.8 million, the Blue Jackets can afford to give Nash a raise without gutting a young and talented team that made the playoffs for the first time in the franchise's eight seasons. Nash, who set the club mark with 79 points (40 goals, 39 assists in 78 games) last season, remains the most important member of the team. Columbus should come to the table with a fair offer and we expect Nash will remain with the Blue Jackets next season. He is still going to be one of the first Fantasy forwards off draft boards.
Nash could sign long-term deal Nash could sign long-term deal Updated 6/17/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: LW Rick Nash told The Columbus Dispatch that the Blue Jackets' financial woes will not impact his decision to sign a long-term contract extension with the club this summer. If the term and dollars are right, Nash said, he'll sign on the dotted line. "It doesn't concern me at all," Nash said. "I personally think everything will be fine. I'm obviously interested in getting a contract done. That hasn't changed." Analysis: The 25-year-old Nash should likely wait a year to sign a long-term deal and hope the U.S. economy starts to turn. He has one year left on his current deal and his talent isn't likely to go away. The only thing he risks is injury. Nash had a career-high 40 goals, 39 assists, 79 points and plus-11 rating in 2008-09. He also had a career-high five short-handed scores. Nash continues to develop into one of the best all-around forwards in the NHL. Target him as a high-end Fantasy forward Draft Day.
Nash has seven points in three games Nash has seven points in three games Updated 3/29/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored a goal and tallied an assist during Sunday's game against the Blues. Nash's 40-foot wrister from the short boards got past Chris Mason 15:09 into the third. He has two goals and five assists during a three-game point streak. Analysis: Nash is four goals shy of netting 40-plus for the second time in his career. He already has a career-high 38 assists and 74 points. He continually improves on offense and his defense hasn't been half-bad either. Nash does have a career-high five-short-handed goals and a plus-12 rating in 2008-09. Nash remains a must-start Fantasy option.
Huselius, Nash get four assists each Huselius, Nash get four assists each Updated 3/27/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Blue Jackets LW Kristian Huselius and C Rick Nash both assisted four times in Thursday's win over the Flames. Analysis: Huselius reached the 50-point mark for a third straight season on Thursday, and is playing a little better in March than he did in February. He remains a No. 5 or 6 option only. Nash is now only two points behind his career high of 69 points and should be starting in all Fantasy formats the rest of the way.
Nash has four-assist performance Nash has four-assist performance Updated 3/26/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Columbus LW Rick Nash picked up four assists in Thursday's 5-0 victory over the Blue Jackets. He increased his points total on the season to 71 with the performance, scoring 34 goals and handing out 37 assists. Analysis: Nash had goals in every other game over his past six games, but broke out with a four-assist game against Miikka Kiprusoff and the Flames. The feat was duplicated by Kristian Huselius who also had four assists on the same goals Nash assisted on. Nash is a top goal scorer and can hand out a decent amount of assists as well, so keep him active across the board as Columbus continues its march toward its first playoff appearance.
Nash scores off of Huet Nash scores off of Huet Updated 3/18/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Columbus LW Rick Nash wristed in a wicked shot from a hard angle high over Cristobal Huet's right shoulder for his 34th goal of the season on Wednesday against the Blackhawks. Nash also has 33 assists on the season for a grand total of 67 points. Analysis: Nash has been a goal-scoring machine lately but has not faired as well in the assist department. He has seven goals in his last seven games including a hat trick against the Red Wings on March 7. He is one of the best goal scorers in the game and a No. 1 Fantasy option.
Nash records fifth shorty Nash records fifth shorty Updated 3/14/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored short-handed into an empty net with 19 seconds remaining to cap a 5-3 win over the Blackhawks Friday. He has a career-high five short-handed goals in 2008-09. Nash has seven goals and two assists in seven March games. Analysis: Nash is on track to have his second career 40-goal season. He is also on pace to shatter his career-high 69-point total from last season. The Ontario native remains one of the NHL's top scoring threats and a must-start Fantasy option.
Nash hit Wings for hat trick again Nash hit Wings for hat trick again Updated 3/8/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash had his fourth career hat trick -- his second against Detroit this season and third overall against the Red Wings -- in Columbus' 8-2 victory Saturday. He now has 14 points in his last 11 games. Analysis: After a slow first month, Nash has turned into a points machine this season. He is only five points behind his career-best year of 69 points, and remains a must-start in all Fantasy formats. If only he could play the Red Wings every night!
Nash has 10 points in eight games Nash has 10 points in eight games Updated 3/6/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored a goal and finished at plus-1 during Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Predators. Nash scored with a shot that appeared to hit off Nashville defenseman Greg Zanon's left leg at 14:05 of the second period. He has five goals and five assists in his last eight games. Analysis: It's not like Nash needed help, but the Blue Jackets picked up center Antoine Vermette from Ottawa Wednesday to play on a line with Nash. He didn't play Thursday due to visa issues, but that didn't stop Nash from scoring his 28th goal. It's always good to surround yourself with elite talent, but Nash has done a pretty good job with the players Columbus has provided this season. He still remains a must-start Fantasy option.
Nash has seven points in four Nash has seven points in four Updated 2/20/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored and assisted in Thursday's shootout win over the Maple Leafs, giving him seven points in his last four games. Analysis: Nash was a little cool earlier this month, but he's picked up the pace over the last week. He is now only one assist behind his career high of 31 and could set a new points mark too. He remains a must-start in all Fantasy formats as an elite NHL forward.
Nash has goal and assist Nash has goal and assist Updated 2/18/2009
Rick Nash, LW CLB
News: Columbus LW Rick Nash scored a goal and had an assist in a 4-3 win over the Blues on Wednesday. Nash picked up his 24th goal of the season just 25 seconds after the Blues scored their first goal of the game when Christian Backman carried the puck into the offensive zone, then slid a pass to Manny Malhotra on the left wing. Malhotra then sent the puck through the crease to Nash for a jam shot. Analysis: Nash had gone four games without a goal before scoring off of Chris Mason on Wednesday. He did have a three-assist performance against Carolina on Valentine's Day, but has been in a bit of an offensive slump. Despite his recent struggles, he remains a high-end forward that should be starting in all leagues.
