Analysis: He's hit the score sheet in five straight games, with one goal and five assists over that stretch. He's got a low of work to do if he wants to reach the 30-goal plateau for the fifth straight season (he needs 12 goals in the next 26 games) but with the roster mostly healthy and Derick Brassard looking comfortable as his center don't count Rick Nash out yet.

Analysis: It's the first win for the Blue Jackets in Rick Nashville since the tail end of the 2005-2006 season, and Nash's first multi-point game in over a month. Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson confirmed the signing to The Associated Press on Friday night. The Canadian Press first reported the signing, saying the deal is worth $62.4 million. Nash will make $7 million in 2009-10.
Analysis: It was just a few days ago that Nash's side and the Blue Jackets seemed far apart on a new deal, but the two parties got to work and hammered out a deal. It's a tremendous weight lifted off Nash's shoulders heading into the '09-10 season. Nash set the club mark with 79 points (40 goals, 39 assists in 78 games) in 2008-09. Since the Blue Jackets traded up to take him with the No. 1 pick in the 2002 draft, Nash has been the face of the franchise. He shared the Rocket Richard Trophy for leading goal-scorer with Calgary's Jarome Iginla and Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk in 2003-2004. He's been a productive All-Star the last three season. He does it all for the Blue Jackets and only seems to be getting better. Consider Nash a must-own Fantasy forward Draft Day.
News: The clock begins ticking for the Columbus Blue Jackets and captain Rick Nash on Wednesday. Nash has one year left on his contract with the only NHL team for which he has played, and the Blue Jackets want to sign him to a long-term deal before he can become an unrestricted free agent next summer. One of the top forwards in the league, it's not just a wild rumor that the Toronto Maple Leafs covet the kid who grew up in suburban Brampton. And the Maple Leafs aren't the only ones. "We'll talk very early in the free agency period," Columbus general manager Scott Howson said. "We'll see if there's a contract that we can agree to here sometime this summer. I'm optimistic we can re-sign him but until you sit down and start having discussions, you never really know."
Analysis: Nash will be making $7 million in the final year of his contract with the Blue Jackets. He has played six full years in the NHL, yet turned just 25 earlier this month. His agent, Joe Resnick, said Tuesday that Nash loves Columbus and the Blue Jackets. But that only goes so far. "Confident of a deal? It's really up to the Blue Jackets," he said. "We're definitely going to listen and take in everything they have to say. Hopefully we can get a deal done." With the NHL salary cap rising $100,000 from last season to $56.8 million, the Blue Jackets can afford to give Nash a raise without gutting a young and talented team that made the playoffs for the first time in the franchise's eight seasons. Nash, who set the club mark with 79 points (40 goals, 39 assists in 78 games) last season, remains the most important member of the team. Columbus should come to the table with a fair offer and we expect Nash will remain with the Blue Jackets next season. He is still going to be one of the first Fantasy forwards off draft boards.
News: LW Rick Nash told The Columbus Dispatch that the Blue Jackets' financial woes will not impact his decision to sign a long-term contract extension with the club this summer. If the term and dollars are right, Nash said, he'll sign on the dotted line. "It doesn't concern me at all," Nash said. "I personally think everything will be fine. I'm obviously interested in getting a contract done. That hasn't changed."
Analysis: The 25-year-old Nash should likely wait a year to sign a long-term deal and hope the U.S. economy starts to turn. He has one year left on his current deal and his talent isn't likely to go away. The only thing he risks is injury. Nash had a career-high 40 goals, 39 assists, 79 points and plus-11 rating in 2008-09. He also had a career-high five short-handed scores. Nash continues to develop into one of the best all-around forwards in the NHL. Target him as a high-end Fantasy forward Draft Day.
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored a goal and tallied an assist during Sunday's game against the Blues. Nash's 40-foot wrister from the short boards got past Chris Mason 15:09 into the third. He has two goals and five assists during a three-game point streak.
Analysis: Nash is four goals shy of netting 40-plus for the second time in his career. He already has a career-high 38 assists and 74 points. He continually improves on offense and his defense hasn't been half-bad either. Nash does have a career-high five-short-handed goals and a plus-12 rating in 2008-09. Nash remains a must-start Fantasy option.
News: Blue Jackets LW Kristian Huselius and C Rick Nash both assisted four times in Thursday's win over the Flames.
Analysis: Huselius reached the 50-point mark for a third straight season on Thursday, and is playing a little better in March than he did in February. He remains a No. 5 or 6 option only. Nash is now only two points behind his career high of 69 points and should be starting in all Fantasy formats the rest of the way.
News: Columbus LW Rick Nash picked up four assists in Thursday's 5-0 victory over the Blue Jackets. He increased his points total on the season to 71 with the performance, scoring 34 goals and handing out 37 assists.
Analysis: Nash had goals in every other game over his past six games, but broke out with a four-assist game against Miikka Kiprusoff and the Flames. The feat was duplicated by Kristian Huselius who also had four assists on the same goals Nash assisted on. Nash is a top goal scorer and can hand out a decent amount of assists as well, so keep him active across the board as Columbus continues its march toward its first playoff appearance.
News: Columbus LW Rick Nash wristed in a wicked shot from a hard angle high over Cristobal Huet's right shoulder for his 34th goal of the season on Wednesday against the Blackhawks. Nash also has 33 assists on the season for a grand total of 67 points.
Analysis: Nash has been a goal-scoring machine lately but has not faired as well in the assist department. He has seven goals in his last seven games including a hat trick against the Red Wings on March 7. He is one of the best goal scorers in the game and a No. 1 Fantasy option.
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored short-handed into an empty net with 19 seconds remaining to cap a 5-3 win over the Blackhawks Friday. He has a career-high five short-handed goals in 2008-09. Nash has seven goals and two assists in seven March games.
Analysis: Nash is on track to have his second career 40-goal season. He is also on pace to shatter his career-high 69-point total from last season. The Ontario native remains one of the NHL's top scoring threats and a must-start Fantasy option.
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash had his fourth career hat trick -- his second against Detroit this season and third overall against the Red Wings -- in Columbus' 8-2 victory Saturday. He now has 14 points in his last 11 games.
Analysis: After a slow first month, Nash has turned into a points machine this season. He is only five points behind his career-best year of 69 points, and remains a must-start in all Fantasy formats. If only he could play the Red Wings every night!
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored a goal and finished at plus-1 during Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Predators. Nash scored with a shot that appeared to hit off Nashville defenseman Greg Zanon's left leg at 14:05 of the second period. He has five goals and five assists in his last eight games.
Analysis: It's not like Nash needed help, but the Blue Jackets picked up center Antoine Vermette from Ottawa Wednesday to play on a line with Nash. He didn't play Thursday due to visa issues, but that didn't stop Nash from scoring his 28th goal. It's always good to surround yourself with elite talent, but Nash has done a pretty good job with the players Columbus has provided this season. He still remains a must-start Fantasy option.
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored and assisted in Thursday's shootout win over the Maple Leafs, giving him seven points in his last four games.
Analysis: Nash was a little cool earlier this month, but he's picked up the pace over the last week. He is now only one assist behind his career high of 31 and could set a new points mark too. He remains a must-start in all Fantasy formats as an elite NHL forward.
News: Columbus LW Rick Nash scored a goal and had an assist in a 4-3 win over the Blues on Wednesday. Nash picked up his 24th goal of the season just 25 seconds after the Blues scored their first goal of the game when Christian Backman carried the puck into the offensive zone, then slid a pass to Manny Malhotra on the left wing. Malhotra then sent the puck through the crease to Nash for a jam shot.
Analysis: Nash had gone four games without a goal before scoring off of Chris Mason on Wednesday. He did have a three-assist performance against Carolina on Valentine's Day, but has been in a bit of an offensive slump. Despite his recent struggles, he remains a high-end forward that should be starting in all leagues.
News: Columbus LW Rick Nash did a lot of passing in Saturday's 5-1 win over Carolina. Nash picked up three assists in the game. He got the passing party started in the 2nd period when he hooked up with Kristian Huselius and then followed that with back-to-back assists in the 3rd period. Nash also received two minutes in the penalty box for hooking in the 2nd period.
Analysis: Nash now has 51 points on the year and 28 assists. He's an All-Star forward and a top scoring threat and should be active across the board in Fantasy.
News:Rick Nash's third goal of the game came on a rebound 3:27 into overtime and gave the Columbus Blue Jackets a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Nash's goals, giving him 22 on the season, came short-handed, on the power play and, finally, even strength. Down 1-0 and 2-1, the Blue Jackets pulled even twice on second-period goals by Nash. The Red Wings were on the power play when Nash got a stick on Derek Meech's pass for Brian Rafalski near the blue line. Nash beat them to the puck and skated in on goaltender Chris Osgood, beating him through the leg pads for the short-handed goal. Marian Hossa then was called for hooking Nash. The Blue Jackets, last in the league on the power play, wasted little time with Nash taking a pass from Kristian Huselius and, from a hard angle, firing a shot that deflected off Rafalski's stick and popped behind Osgood and into the net to tie it at 2-all. In the overtime, Nash carried the puck into the zone before passing to Fedor Tyutin who tossed a centering pass through the crease to fellow defenseman Mike Commodore. But Commodore could only kick at the puck with his skate and never got a stick on it. It bounced to the right corner of the goal cage where Nash was waiting to jam it in.
Analysis: It was Nash's third career hat trick and the 14th for the Blue Jackets franchise. In four games since returning from a knee injury, Nash has five goals and two assists. That's not counting the three points he got in the All-Star game Sunday. It looks as though the extra time on the bench actually re-energized the All-Star forward. Nash is a top-scoring threat and must-start Fantasy option.
News: Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash tallied a goal, two assists and a plus-1 rating during Sunday's All-Star game.
Analysis: Nash came into the break hitting on all cylinders despite missing a few games with a knee injury. He has four goals and 10 assists in his last nine games. Nash is having one of his finest seasons with the Blue Jackets despite the lack of talent around him. As long as he is healthy, Nash remains a high-end Fantasy option.
News: According to The Columbus Dispatch, Cloumbus LW Rick Nash has become one of the NHL's top players, and now there are only small, subtle steps left to be taken. "I would say this is my best season so far," Nash said. "I had 41 goals the one season " He paused and grinned before adding, "But I was, what, minus-35?" Exactly minus-35. Nash is plus-10 on the season heading into the second half of the season.
Analysis: Nash has 43 points in 43 games, which is a point-per-game pace for the first time in his career. He has better players around him, which has helped him with production. Nash is a solid Fantasy start heading into Week 17 (Jan. 26-Feb. 1).
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored a short-handed goal during Wednesday's game against the Flames. It was his second short-handed goal of the season and 19th overall. Nash has two goals and two assists in three games since returning from a knee injury.
Analysis: Nash heads into the All-Star break with 10 points (three goals) in six January games. He hasn't missed a beat since returning from the knee injury and is still getting the job done in Columbus surrounded by marginal talent. Consider Nash a nice Fantasy start heading into Week 17 (Jan. 26-Feb. 1).
News: Columbus captain Rick Nash had a goal and two assists in regulation and scored the winning shootout goal in the Blue Jackets' 6-5 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night. Nash, playing his first game after missing four because of a knee injury, got off to a quick start after being out almost two weeks, setting up Manny Malholtra midway through the first period. Malhotra went unchecked to the net to tap Nash's centering pass through Roberto Luongo's legs after combining with linemate Kristian Huselius on some pretty tic-tac-toe passing into the offensive zone. Nash tied the game at 3 on a wraparound with 1:01 left in the second period. It was his 18th goal of the season and third in six games.
Analysis: Nash was red hot before getting injured, and by the way he played Sunday you couldn't tell he missed any time. Nash has three goals and 10 assists in his last seven games. He is having one of his best runs this season. Nash has been a great offensive weapon in the first half and could break 70 points for the first time in his career. He remains a must-start Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Blue Jackets forwards Rick Nash (sprained left knee) and Jason Chimera (groin injury) are practicing with their teammates but remained on the IR Friday against the Devils.

News: The Columbus Dispatch reports that Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash (knee) will not return to action Friday against the Devils.
Analysis: Nash said he hopes to return on the team's upcoming Canadian road trip, but if he doesn't play Sunday against the Canucks, then you'll have to make a big decision for Fantasy Week 16 (Jan. 19-25). Luckily, the Jackets only play twice in that period, so you could probably safely bench Nash and not miss out on too many points if he does return for one of those two games.
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash has practiced the last two days and could return to action Friday vs. New Jersey.
Analysis: Nash remains a must-start Fantasy option when healthy, so plan on having him back for Fantasy Week 16 (Jan. 19-25).

News: The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed LW Rick Nash on injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 6. Nash will be eligible to return on Friday.
Analysis: Nash was a very risky start for Fantasy Week 15 (Jan. 12-18), so most sensible owners would have benched him anyway. This move just makes it a no-brainer to make him inactive for the period. Hopefully the injury doesn't keep him out for much longer, but keep an eye on his progress as this week goes along.
News: Wild LW Rick Nash sat out of Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets with a leg injury. He remains questionable for Tuesday's game against Colorado.
Analysis: Without a structured timetable for Nash's return, one would have to consider Nash a serious injury risk for Week 12 (Jan. 12-18). Considering he was doubtful for this weekend's set of games, there is a good chance he won't be back for Tuesday's game against the Avalanche. Unless word comes out that he'll play Tuesday, keep him on the bench for the upcoming period.
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash missed Friday's game against the Capitals because of a leg injury. He is also not expected to play Saturday against the Wild.
Analysis: The injury is believed to be to Nash's knee and keeping him out this weekend is likely just a precaution. But with no definite word yet if he will be back Tuesday against the Avalanche, Nash appears to be a risky start Week 15 (Jan. 12-18). Nash has totaled 39 points in 40 games this season and has been rock solid for Columbus amid their injury woes. He is a must-start Fantasy option when healthy.
News:The Columbus Dispatch reports All-Star Rick Nash is expected to miss Friday's game against the Capitals and Saturday's game against Minnesota with a lower-body injury sustained Tuesday against Detroit. Nash has walked without a limp and doesn't believe the injury is serious. "It was a bit stiff (Thursday morning)," Nash said, "but hopefully it won't be too long of an injury. I really don't think it will be."

"We'll evaluate him (Wednesday)," said Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock, who would only add that Nash had a lower-body injury. Nash didn't have a point in 7:46 of ice time Tuesday.
Analysis: Columbus is down a few forwards right now, but losing Nash for a long period would take the cake. He came into Tuesday's game riding a five-game point streak (two goals, eight assists) and has 39 points in 40 games. He is Columbus' top offensive weapon and a must-start Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Blue Jackets LW Rick Nash scored a goal, added three assists and finished at plus-4 during Friday's 6-1 win against the Avalanche. Nash doesn't have a lot of talent surrounding him in Columbus, but continues to make do. He remains a high-end Fantasy forward.

Kristian Huselius scored off Nash's blue-collar assist with 4:44 left and Columbus beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 on Monday night, giving the Blue Jackets their first win this season after allowing the first goal. Nash had two defenders draped on him as he carried the puck out of the corner and over the left dot before feeding Huselius, who was all alone at the right side of the crease for an easy jam shot for his ninth of the year. "We lost (track of) a pretty good player and he found a way to make a great play," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said. Huselius said he was almost a bystander. "It was a great pass, a great effort," he said. "Rick caught two guys playing him and made a great pass to me and I just had to one-time it."

Washington stepped up the pressure in the third and was on its fifth power play of the night when Nash added the final goal. He came up with a loose puck at mid-ice, skated away from defenseman Sami Lepisto and then faked the forehand before chipping a backhand past Johnson for his 12th of the season.

Nash now has one goal and five assists in his last six games.

Winger Kristian Huselius, who had played opposite Nash during the first 10 games, was put with rookies Derick Brassard and Jake Voracek.
Analysis: The only player to score a goal Saturday among the line switches was Huselius, who has been a great free-agent addition from Calgary. Huselius and Nash remain high-end Fantasy options despite the change. Novotny and Chimera are both low-end Fantasy options, while Brassard and Voracek are low-end options on top of being solid long-term keepers.
News: The Columbus Dispatch reports that the Blue Jackets played Rick Nash at center in Tuesday's practice, playing between Kristian Huselius and Jason Chimera.
Analysis: Nash is owned in 100 percent of leagues, so it's not like this move is going to send a rush of you out to the waiver wire to grab him. Still, it's an interesting position switch that could well boost his Fantasy production. He remains a must-start forward in all formats wherever he plays, however.
