Rangers' Nash Snaps Slump With Two Goals, Assist

News: Rick Nash ended his four-game scoring drought with two goals -- one on the power play -- and an assist in Friday's Game 4 victory over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Rick Nash's late-first-period goal, scored on a breakaway backhander past Ben Bishop, energized the Rangers and led to a big day for several guys who have been struggling of late -- in addition to Nash's bust-out, Martin St. Louis and Keith Yandle both scored their first goals of the playoffs, and Kevin Klein had his first multi-point game of the postseason. We've been waiting for Nash to get it going, and if he remains an offensive factor moving forward, he'll give the Rangers a great chance to win this series and move on to play for the Stanley Cup.

Rangers' Nash Finally Finds Twine Again

News: Rick Nash scored his second goal of the playoffs -- his first since April 18 -- in Sunday's Game 6 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: Rick Nash had gone eight games without finding twine, tallying just three assists in that span. His defensive play has been unimpeachable, but Nash had largely been invisible in the offensive zone until the first minute of Sunday's third period, when he took a pass in front of the net and outwaited Braden Holtby to score a big goal, putting the Rangers up 3-1 at the time. It's nice to see Nash finally show up on the scoresheet, but the Rangers are going to need more from him if they want to continue this playoff run beyond Wednesday's Game 7 in New York.

Rangers' Nash Assists In Game 2 Win

News: Rick Nash collected an assist and put four shots on net in Saturday's win over the Capitals.
Analysis: In addition to getting a secondary helper on Derick Brassard's game-winner, Rick Nash had an indirect hand in Dan Boyle's first-period tally. Nash's imposing presence in front of the net following a poor clearing attempt by the Capitals defense seemed to fluster goalie Braden Holtby, who lost track of Boyle on the shot. The winger, who has one goal and five points over seven playoff games, should continue to make an impact throughout the series.

Rangers' Nash Recovers From Flu, Scores Goal

News: Rick Nash returned to the lineup in Game 2, logging a goal in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: Although the goal came so late and had little impact, this is good news for arguably the organization's most skilled winger who missed practice fightning the flu. At this point, it seems Rick Nash -two points in his first two playoff games- remains on track to continue his bounce back season throughout the playoffs.

Rangers' Nash Returns To Ice

News: Rick Nash, who missed Wednesday's practice due to a case of the flu, was on the ice for Thursday's morning skate, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Rick Nash, who sat out the Rangers' final two regular season contests with an undisclosed injury, is thus on track to suit up for Thursday's playoff opener against the Penguins. The big winger, who last suited up on April 7, finished the regular season with 42 goals and 69 points -- both team-highs -- in 79 games.

Rangers' Nash Set To Play Thursday

News: With regard to the status of Rick Nash (illness) for Thursday's playoff opener against the Penguins, coach Alain Vigneault indicated Wednesday that the winger will "be fine tomorrow."
Analysis: Rick Nash did not skate with the Rangers on Wednesday, as he deals with a bout of the flu, but he should be good to go for Thursday's playoff opener, after sitting out the Rangers' final two regular season contests with an undisclosed injury.

Rangers' Nash Misses Practice With Flu

News: Rick Nash missed Wednesday's practice due to a case of the flu, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Though Rick Nash was declared ready to play after missing the Rangers' final two regular-season contests with an undisclosed injury, it appears the winger has a new issue to contend with on the eve of the playoffs. James Sheppard skated in Nash's spot at Wednesday's practice, but for now, the Rangers appear optimistic that Nash will be healthy in time for Thursday's Game 1 versus the Penguins. Check back on his status after the Rangers complete their morning skate Thursday.

Rangers' Nash Set To Play In Game 1

News: Rick Nash (undisclosed) is "good to go" for Thursday's playoff opener against the Penguins, NHL.com's Dan Rosen reports.
Analysis: Rick Nash turned in a full practice Tuesday without incident, but he never appeared in peril of missing any playoff action, despite sitting out the final two games of the regular season. The 30-year-old finished the season with 42 goals (third-most in the NHL) and 69 points in his 79 contests, but after his disappearing act during the Rangers' run to the Stanley Cup Finals last spring, there will be plenty of pressure on him to produce for the Presidents' Trophy winners.

Rangers' Nash Practices Tuesday

News: Rick Nash (undisclosed) practiced Tuesday, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Rick Nash worked on a line with Derick Brassard and Mats Zuccarello on Tuesday, so it looks the big winger is on track to suit up for Thursday's playoff opener against the Penguins.

Rangers' Nash Out For Finale

News: Rick Nash (undisclosed) won't play Saturday against the Capitals, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Though he returned to practice Friday after sitting out Thursday's game against the Senators with a minor injury, Rick Nash was still viewed as a game-day decision heading into Saturday's season finale. While Nash would likely receive clearance to play if the Rangers were beginning a playoff series, the team decided to give the star winger some further time to recuperate rather than have him potentially aggravate the injury in a relatively meaningless game. With Nash ruled out Saturday, James Sheppard should benefit from another run in the lineup.

Rangers' Nash A Game-Time Call Saturday

News: Rick Nash (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision for Saturday's tilt with the Capitals.
Analysis: After sitting out Thursday's game against the Senators with a minor injury, Rick Nash returned to practice Friday. Coach Alain Vigneault said Nash would have a shot at playing if he feels good following warmups Saturday, but with the Rangers having already clinched the Presidents' Trophy, the forward won't push things if he's still feeling less than 100 percent.

Rangers' Nash Day-To-Day

News: According to coach Alain Vigneault, Rick Nash is day-to-day with an unspecified injury, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Though Rick Nash is slated to be rested for Thursday's game against the Senators, we suspect that he'd be out there if it were a postseason contest. With regard to Saturday's game against the Caps, Nash indicated that he is unsure of the Rangers' plans for him.

Rangers Rest Nash Thursday

News: Rick Nash is slated to be rested for Thursday's game against the Senators, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Marc Staal and Mats Zuccarello are also slated to get a breather on Thursday, with the Rangers having already clinched the top record in the NHL. Meanwhile, the trio's status for Saturday's regular season finale against the Caps has yet to be clarified.

Rangers' Nash Matches Career-High Goal Mark

News: Rick Nash scored his career-high-tying 41st goal of the season on a first-period power play Thursday against Minnesota.
Analysis: Rick Nash's great season continues, especially now that he's pushed out of his mid-March slump. He's still without a multi-point game since March 10, but Nash has nonetheless moved back into sole possession of second place on the NHL's goal-scoring leaderboard.

Rangers' Nash Awakening From Slump

News: Rick Nash was a plus-3 with an assist and four penalty minutes in Thursday's 5-1 win over Ottawa.
Analysis: An rare night for Rick Nash, who ordinarily fills the goals and assist columns, but rarely provides two penalties in a game for fantasy owners. Although he extends his goal-scoring drought to a season-high eight games, Nash seems to be awakening with two assists in his last three games. The veteran forward is now just five points shy of tying a career-high 69 point campaign, set in 2007-08 with the Blue Jackets.

Rangers' Nash Quietly Snaps Drought

News: Rick Nash logged an assist in Sunday's 7-2 win over Anaheim.
Analysis: It was a collective team sigh as the team set a season high for goals scored. While the first period assist is not exactly lighting up your page, it snaps a five-game point-scoring drought and hopefully brings momentum for more. Despite the lull, Rick Nash's 39 goals, 63 points and plus-24 rating through 70 games still ranks in the league's top 20 in all three categories.

Rangers' Nash On Longest Slump Of Season

News: Rick Nash goes into Sunday's tilt with Anaheim on a five-game point-scoring drought.
Analysis: Enjoying a season of resurgence, the 30-year-old winger is currently enduring the worst slump of his fine season, just one goal shy of the third 40-goal campaign of his career. While the veteran forward's 19 goals and 35 points through 35 career games versus Sunday's opponent Anaheim bodes well, the team's offense and power play have been lackluster as of late and there's just no telling when Rick Nash will awaken from his slumber. Hang in there fantasy owners, he's bound to break out sooner or later.

Rangers' Nash Nearing New Career High

News: Rick Nash scored the game-winner in the third period of Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Islanders.
Analysis: While comparatively speaking, Rick Nash's goal-scoring pace slowed as February closed out, three goals and two assists in his last five games has helped move him back into sole possession of second in the NHL with 39 goals. The veteran forward needs to find twine just two more times to tie his career-high of 41 goals set in his sophomore season (2003-04) with Columbus. Easily a candidate for comeback player of the year, Nash has 61 points and is a plus-24 through 64 games this season.

Nash Returns To Rangers' Lineup

News: Coach Alain Vigneault confirmed that Rick Nash (neck spasms) would play Thursday against the Coyotes.
Analysis: Rick Nash, who missed Tuesday's game against the Flames, checks back into the lineup as the Rangers' top scorer, with a fantasy-friendly 37 goals and 58 points in 58 games to date. Fantasy owners should be sure to keep him active Thursday.

Rangers' Nash Out Tuesday With Neck Spasms

News: Rick Nash is suffering from neck spasms and will not be available for Tuesday's game against the Flames, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Coach Alain Vigneault suggested at the Rangers' morning skate that the team was concerned about the availability for a few players for Tuesday's game, and it would appear that Rick Nash is one of them. The Rangers are calling Nash day-to-day, but it puts daily league players in quite a bind if they were planning on rolling the winger in their lineup. Instead, the newly recalled Oscar Lindberg will take the ice for his NHL debut, while Nash turns his attention to a possible return Thursday against the Coyotes.

Rangers' Nash Strikes Again Friday

News: Rick Nash potted his 37th goal of the season and had an assist in Friday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: This guy can't stop scoring. It's getting ridiculous. The 30-year-old has now recorded nine goals and 15 points in his last 11 games. He's contributing in almost every fantasy category, recording a plus-24 rating, seven game-winning goals and 219 shots on goal in 57 games on the season. Just Rick Nashty.

News: Rick Nash scored his NHL-best 35th goal in Saturday's win over Arizona. It stood up as the winner.

Rangers' Nash Retakes Goal Lead

News: Rick Nash scored a highlight-reel goal and added an assist Thursday in a 6-3 win over Colorado.
Analysis: The goal was a thing of beauty, as he came around from behind the goal and fired a falling-down wrister past Semyon Varlamov. It also pushed his total to 34, one up on Alex Ovechkin for the league lead. With 11 points in the last seven games, few skaters are hotter than Rick Nash right now.

Rangers' Nash Plays Assistant Tuesday

News: Rick Nash dished out three assists and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Leafs.
Analysis: The NHL's top goal scorer put only two shots on net, but his goal-heavy season line needed a few helpers to balance it out a little anyway. With his recent push -- nine points in the last six games -- Rick Nash now has himself at an even point-per-game pace over 52 contests.

Nash Extends Hot Streak In Rangers' Loss

News: Rick Nash scored in Saturday's 3-2 loss to host Nashville.
Analysis: The goal extends his goal-scoring streak to four games, the third such streak of the season for the 30-year-old Rick Nash. He's collected 19 shots on goal and six points over those four games. Nash, who has a plus-20 rating to go with his 49 points in 50 games, is already nearing his career high of 41 goals, set a decade ago in his sophomore season.
