Bouwmeester Leads Blues In Shots Monday

News: Jay Bouwmeester's six shots on goal were a team high in Monday's 2-0 Game 3 loss to Chicago. As per the norm, he was second in ice time with 25:28 behind Alex Pietrangelo.
Analysis: Although J-Bouw hasn't recorded a point in his last 12 games, the six shots tied a season high for the rearguard and were his most since March 4, so it's nice to see him getting involved offensively. It's not uncommon to see low-scoring games in the playoffs -- especially against a desperate Blackhawks team down 2-0 in the series playing in front of a rowdy United Center crowd -- so if Jay Bouwmeester keeps throwing this much rubber on net, he should find his name on the scoresheet soon enough.

Blues' Bouwmeester Will Play Saturday

News: Jay Bouwmeester will play in Game 2 against the Blackhawks on Saturday, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester missed the second overtime period of Thursday's 4-3 win in Game 1. However, he was apparently just dealing with dehydration and all signs point to him taking the ice Saturday.

Blues' Bouwmeester Grabs Two Assists

News: Jay Bouwmeester picked up two assists Thursday in a win over Minnesota, snapping a four-game pointless skid.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester's actually been in a funk since before the Olympics, as this game and another two-assist contest March 17 are the only games in which he's appeared on the scoresheet in his last 17 contests.

Blues` Bouwmeester Adds A Pair Of Helpers Monday

News: Jay Bouwmeester picked up two assists and earned a plus-2 rating in Monday`s 3-1 grounding of the Jets.
Analysis: That`s 30 apples on the year now for J-Bouw, his most since 2006-2007 when he toiled in relative anonymity with the Panthers in Sunrise. He has thrived in the 82 games since the Flames shipped him to the Show Me State, averaging exactly one point every two games (41). Also, combined with partner Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk, Jay Bouwmeester makes up a letal trio of offensive d-men that give the Blues the distinction of being the only team to feature three of the league`s top-30 highest scoring defensemen. Keep this gold medalist active until the final horn sounds on your season.

Blues' Bouwmeester Picks Up The Pace

News: Over the last five games Jay Bouwmeester has two points, a plus-1 rating and over 24 minutes of ice time per game.
Analysis: If slow and steady is what you are looking for then Jay Bouwmeester is your man. If you are looking for goals or penalty minutes then look somewhere else. The points from the blue line in St. Louis are split among three potential all-stars with Alex Pieterangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk. Just plug Bouwmeester in and forget about him because he won't hurt you.

Goal, Assist For Blues' Bouwmeester

News: Jay Bouwmeester scored his second goal of the year and added assist No. 19 in Thursday's win over the Islanders.
Analysis: While his goal-scoring hasn't really been there, Jay Bouwmeester is on pace to blow away his career-best assist total of 41, set back in 2005-06, and his current plus-15 rating on the season is by far the best he's put up since 2006-07.

Blues' Bouwmeester Keeps Producing

News: Jay Bouwmeester picked up two assists Saturday to stretch his current point streak to three games and four points (one goal, three assists). He now has 14 points in 18 games.

Blues' Bouwmeester Finds Twine

News: Jay Bouwmeester scored his first goal of the year in Thursday's win over Colorado.
Analysis: Despite that he has just the one goal, Jay Bouwmeester's had a very productive start to the year, totaling 11 assists already to go with a very fine plus-10 rating. He's a good shooter, so more goals should come, and with the Blues' offense clicking, the helpers should keep coming as well.

Blues Bouwmeester Rock Solid

News: Jay Bouwmeester skated a team-leading 33 shifts in the Blues' 6-2 loss to the Sharks, somehow ending up a plus-1 despite the loss, registering three shots on net.
Analysis: Through the first five games of the season, Jay Bouwmeester has two assists, a plus-3 rating and 15 shots on goal. He's not getting as much power play time with the Blues as he did last year, with just 1:39 on the man advantage so far.

News: Jay Bouwmeester signed a five-year, $27 million extension with the Blues on Thursday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jeremy Rutherford reports.

Bouwmeester Notches First Goal With Blues

News: Jay Bouwmeester scored the Blues' lone regulation goal in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win against Vancouver.
Analysis: He'd gone five straight without a point after picking up three assists in his first two games with the Blues. All in all, though, four points in eight games isn't a bad contribution.

Bouwmeester Enjoying St. Louis

News: Jay Bouwmeester grabbed two assists Friday in St. Louis' 3-1 win over Columbus, giving him three assists in two games with the Blues.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester has been dishing the puck well in his first two games with the Blues and has averaged almost 25 minutes in two contests with his new club. He's not going to be relied upon to spark offense as much as he was in Calgary, but he'll get his name on the scoresheet every few games. He'll also improve his plus/minus rate in St. Louis.

Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester was traded to St. Louis for a round-draft pick and prospects Mark Cundari and Reta Berra. The appropriately named Flames have traded away another star as part of their fire sale. This should light a fire under Bouwmeester, who now has a great shot at making the playoffs.

Flames Fall Despite Bouwmeester's Marker

News: Jay Bouwmeester posted his second tally of the young season Saturday, scoring with 35 seconds to play against Chicago to give the Flames a 2-1 lead. But Calgary evened the score just before the final horn, and ended up beating the Flames in a shootout.
Analysis: We'll need another few games before we can start making diagnoses, but he definitely shows signs of emerging from the offensive doldrums he's endured for the past few campaigns. Blueliners who can score are valuable commodities in most fantasy formats, so his development this season (2G, 2A in four games) is worth monitoring.

Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester typically picks up quite a few assists during the season, as he has had at least 20 every season since the 2004 lockout. Don't expect many goals, but he should end up with a couple goals and 10 assists or so by the end of the season.

Wings Interested In Flames' Bouwmeester?

News: The Wings are in discussion with the Flames about a potential deal for Jay Bouwmeester, reports TSN.ca.
Analysis: J-Bo is apparently on the block because of the Dennis Wideman signing and there would be no better place for him to land than in Detroit. His sublime skating and calm demeanor would be a perfect fit in the Wings' puck possession game, and we might even see an uptick in offense as a result. This clearly bears watching.
