Blues' Bouwmeester Picks Up Assist In Loss

News: Jay Bouwmeester picked up an assist Saturday in a 6-3 loss to the Wild. He was minus-1 with one shot and one block in the contest.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester has seen his offensive production fall from 37 points last year to 11 points this year. His shots on net has also dropped from 1.85 shots per game to 1.25. At age 31 it appears he is heading into the decline phase of his career. Bouwmeester is droppable in all but deep leagues.

Blues' Bouwmeester Back In Thursday

News: Jay Bouwmeester (illness) will play Thursday against the Flyers, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: After taking part in Wednesday's practice without incident, Jay Bouwmeester will be given the green light to return from a two-game absence. Chris Butler will head to the press box to open up a spot for Bouwmeester.

Blues' Bouwmeester Skates Wednesday

News: Jay Bouwmeester (illness) took part in Wednesday's optional skate, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: It was believed that Jay Bouwmeester would return to action Tuesday against the Jets after the worst of his flu symptoms seemed to have subsided, but coach Ken Hitchcock decided to keep the blueliner out for a second straight game. If Bouwmeester has another positive skate Thursday morning, he should receive clearance to play later that evening against the Flyers.

Blues Make Bouwmeester A Scratch Tuesday

News: Jay Bouwmeester will be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the Jets, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Coach Ken Hitchcock indicated after Tuesday's morning skate that Jay Bouwmeester was "available" to play after missing the team's previous game with an illness, but never specified that the blueliner would in fact be in the lineup. It appears that the Blues decided it was best to let Bouwmeester rest up another game, allowing Chris Butler to remain in the lineup in his stead. It's been a miserable season for Bouwmeester, who has followed up a 37-point, plus-26 2013-14 campaign with marks of 10 points and plus-7 over 56 games.

Blues' Bouwmeester Confirmed As Available Tuesday

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock confirmed Jay Bouwmeester (illness) will be available for Tuesday's game against the Jets, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester skated during Tuesday's morning skate, and while Hitchcock wouldn't confirmed whether or not the blueliner would be in the lineup, that would seem to be a likely scenario. He figures to reclaim a spot on the Blues' second defensive pairing.

Blues' Bouwmeester (Illness) Should Be Avialable

News: Jay Bouwmeester (illness) should be available for Tuesday's game against the Jets, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester missed Saturday's contest against the Maple Leafs due to the illness, but it appears the worst of it is behind him, and he should be good to go Tuesday barring something unforeseen.

Bouwmeester (Illness) Will Not Play Saturday

News: Jay Bouwmeester (illness) will not play Saturday against the Maple Leafs, The Score reports.
Analysis: With Jay Bouwmeester battling an illness, Chris Butler will enter the lineup in his place. Butler has made 29 starts this season, notching two goals and four assists with a plus-3 rating.

Blues' Bouwmeester Picks Up Assist In Win

News: Jay Bouwmeester picked up an assist Friday in a 5-1 win over Boston. He added four blocked shots in the game.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester's offensive game has fallen off a cliff this year as this was just his ninth point in 50 games to go with only 66 shots on net. The 31 year-old is still logging almost 23 minutes per game, but he is only adding value in peripheral categories like blocked shots (75) and plus/minus (plus-5). It's a disappointing season for the veteran after he managed 37 points and a plus-26 rating in 2013-14.

Blues' Bouwmeester Breaks Goal Drought

News: Jay Bouwmeester tallied a goal and went plus-2 in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: The goal was the aging blueliner's second of the season, with the other coming all the way back on Nov. 3. After tallying 37 points in 2013-14, Jay Bouwmeester's puck-moving abilities have really diminished this season. He's mustered all of six points in 33 games this season, with his even-strength and power-play ice time dropping off by about a full minute from last year in accordance.

Blues' Bouwmeester Goes Minus-3 In Return

News: Jay Bouwmeester (groin) attempted no shots and finished with a minus-3 rating over his 20:59 of ice time in his return to action Thursday against the Islanders.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester didn't have his finest outing in his return from an eight-game absence, but the Blues appear happy to have him back on their top defensive pairing with Alex Pietrangelo. Though he's healthy, there's no guarantee Bouwmeester will reemerge as a productive fantasy defenseman, as he's produced just two points in 21 games this season.

Blues' Bouwmeester Activated From IR

News: Jay Bouwmeester (groin) has been activated from injured reserve and will play Thursday against the Islanders, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester missed the previous eight games due to the groin concern, spelling an end to his streak of 737 consecutive regular-season games played. He looks healthy after practicing Wednesday and taking part in Thursday's optional skate, allowing him to rejoin Alex Pietrangelo on the top pairing. Prior to suffering the injury, Bouwmeester had been in the midst of a dismal season, compiling only two points in 20 games.

Blues' Bouwmeester Takes Part In Practice

News: Jay Bouwmeester (groin) rejoined the Blues for practice Wednesday, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester manned his usual spot on the top pairing next to Alex Pietrangelo, suggesting that he could be in line for a return to the lineup Thursday versus the Islanders. The blueliner previously appeared close to a return last week before enduring a setback, however, so until he's formally activated from injured reserve, it will be difficult to reliably count him in for Thursday's game.

Blues' Bouwmeester Hopes To Practice Wednesday

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock said he hopes to have Jay Bouwmeester (groin) at practice Wednesday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester was able to skate on his own prior to Monday's optional session, but he still seems like a long shot to return from an eight-game absence Thursday versus the Islanders. He'll probably need to practice with the team for back-to-back days before Hitchcock feels comfortable using him in games.

Blues' Bouwmeester Remains Out Saturday

News: Jay Bouwmeester (groin) will remain out Saturday against the Islanders, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester will miss his seventh straight game. He looked to be closing in on a return a few days ago when he resumed practicing with the team, but that may no longer be the case.

Blues' Bouwmeester To Sit Again Thursday

News: Jay Bouwmeester (groin) will not play Thursday against the Predators, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: There was a chance that Jay Bouwmeester might heal up in time to play Thursday, but he wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups, thereby ruling him out from a return. He'll sit for the sixth straight game.

Blues' Bouwmeester: Ruled Out Wednesday

News: Jay Bouwmeester has been ruled out from returning Wednesday against the Blackhawks, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester, who coach Ken Hitchcock confirmed was dealing with a groin injury, remained limited to riding a stationary bike during the Blues' morning skate. The blueliner was a partial participant in Tuesday's practice, but could still need some more conditioning work before he draws back into the lineup. His status could be revisited in advance of Thursday's match with the Predators.

Blues' Bouwmeester A Game-Time Decision Wednesday

News: Jay Bouwmeester (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against the Blackhawks, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester likely would have been in the clear for Wednesday's game had he made it through Tuesday's practice, but he was forced to leave the session early, so a final call on his status for Wednesday's game will not come until game day.

Blues' Bouwmeester Practices

News: Jay Bouwmeester (lower body) practiced without restriction Monday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: The Blues reassigned blueliner Petteri Lindbohm to AHL Chicago on Monday, so it appears Jay Bouwmeester will be activated off of IR and return to the lineup against the Blackhawks on Wednesday.

Blues' Bouwmeester Lands On Injured Reserve

News: The Blues placed Jay Bouwmeester (lower body) on injured reserve Saturday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Blues needed to call up a player, and Jay Bouwmeester was already ruled out for the weekend, so they decided to place him on injured reserve. Bouwmeester has already been sidelined for a week, so he could be activated as soon as next week if he is healthy enough to play.

Blues Rule Bouwmeester Out For Next Two Games

News: Jay Bouwmeester (lower body) has been ruled out for the Blues' games Friday and Saturday, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: It was believed that Jay Bouwmeester hadn't been on the ice since suffering the lower-body injury last weekend, but he's actually skated on his own the past two days. Even so, he's not yet ready to face the rigors of a full game. He'll look to resume practicing Monday with the hope of receiving clearance to play next Wednesday against the Blackhawks.

Blues' Bouwmeester Likely Out Again

News: Jay Bouwmeester (lower body) is expected to miss his third straight game Saturday versus the Oilers, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester wasn't present at the Blues' morning skate and hasn't resumed on-ice work since suffering a lower-body injury last weekend. Chris Butler is once again in line to replace him on defense. Bouwmeester would seem unlikely to play in Minnesota on Saturday, either.

Blues' Bouwmeester Out Tuesday

News: Jay Bouwmeester (lower body) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Senators, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester could have played Tuesday if the Blues needed him, but he will be held out for precautionary reasons in an effort to get him ready for the back-to-back games St. Louis will play this weekend.

Blues' Bouwmeester (Lower Body) Out Sunday

News: Jay Bouwmeester (lower body) will miss Sunday's game against the Jets, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Analysis: Jay Bouwmeester's streak of 737 straight regular season games will end as a result of the injury. With him out, either Carl Gunnarsson or Kevin Shattenkirk will likely slide into the top defensive pairing, while Chris Butler will likely dress in his place.

Blues' Bouwmeester Struggling Mightily

News: Jay Bouwmeester assisted on a goal, spent four minutes in the penalty box and finished with a plus-2 rating in Saturday's win over the Senators, but left with a lower-body injury late in the game, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Despite being limited to 16:40 of ice time in the victory, Jay Bouwmeester managed to turn in one of his better performances in what has been a dismal season, but the injury could represent another pitfall. It's uncertain if he'll be able to suit up for the second game of the Blues' weekend back-to-back on Sunday versus the Jets, putting the defenseman's streak of 737 consecutive games played on the line. With the Blues not holding a morning skate Sunday, Bouwmeester's status likely won't be known until pregame warmups.

Blues' Bouwmeester Talliest First Point Of Season

News: Jay Bouwmeester recorded his first point of the season -- a game-tying tally goal in the third -- in Monday's 4-3 shootout win over the Rangers.
Analysis: It took 11 games, but J-Bouw finally found the scoresheet. The former 47-point rearguard has been a massive letdown for owners thus far in the season, but the points are bound to starting flowing in as long as he shares a top pairing with Alex Pietrangelo and averages over 2:00 of power-play time per game, as has been the case this season.
