Christensen Departing Wild For KHL

News: Erik Christensen will not be tendered a qualifying offer by the Wild and is likely to play in Russia next season, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: He struggled to find a steady role in the NHL last season, so this may be the end of his North American career.

Goal, Assist, Shootout Snipe For Minnesota's Christensen

News: Erik Christensen reached 12 points on the year Saturday night with a goal and an assist against the visiting Kings. The Edmonton native put an exclamation point on the effort by scoring in the contest's deciding shootout.
Analysis: Though Erik Christensen, who started the 2011-2012 campaign with the Rangers, was no doubt instrumental in delivering Minnesota the victory Saturday night, do not expect a repeat performance anytime soon; the veteran forward has not yet reached the level of a reliable fantasy option, despite responding well to the mid-season change of scenery.

Two Goals For Wild's Christensen

News: Erik Christensen scored two goals Sunday against Calgary, giving him three goals on the season.
Analysis: Erik Christensen has seven points in 36 games. This is just a pleasant fluke for him.

Wild Scratch Christensen

News: Erik Christensen will be a healthy scratch Thursday against Montreal, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Erik Christensen earns a seat in the press box by virtue of having no points in 12 games with the Wild, as well as a minus-11 rating in that span.

Rangers Trade Christensen To Wild

News: The Rangers have traded Erik Christensen, and a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2013 draft, to the Wild in exchange for Casey Wellman, the Bergen Record's Andrew Gross reports.
Analysis: Erik Christensen hasn't played for the Rangers since Dec. 17, but he recorded 27 points (11G, 16A) in 63 games for the team last season. Now he gets a fresh start in Minnesota, and while he wasn't on pace for last year's numbers (five points in 20 games), he may be of some value if you're in need.

Rangers Recall Christensen

News: The Rangers have recalled Erik Christensen, ESPN's Katie Strang reports.
Analysis: Erik Christensen accepted a conditioning assignment to AHL Connecticut in mid-January. He played in five games with the Connecticut Whale, and recorded three points. In 20 games with the Rangers this season, Christensen notched only five points. However, he did post 26 points in 2009-10 and 27 points in 2010-11, so he may produce on a small level if he's back in top shape.

Rangers' Christensen Accepts AHL Assignment

News: Erik Christensen has accepted a conditioning assignment to AHL Connecticut, ESPN.com's Katie Strang reports.
Analysis: It's not clear how long Erik Christensen will remain with Connecticut, but having not played since December 17, he is excited to get back into game action. Expect Christensen to return to New York at some point this season.

Rangers Christensen Surprises With Offense

News: Erik Christensen scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's win over Montreal.
Analysis: It's his second two-point effort in his last three games after starting the season on a seven-game scoreless streak (he was also benched in that period, too). He's never delivered more than 18 goals and 33 points in a season so don't expect loads of offense. He's a depth guy -- nothing more.

Rangers' Christensen Back To The Bench

News: With the return of Wojtek Wolski, Erik Christensen returns to the bench, according to Newsday.
Analysis: Although Erik Christensen had been doing a number of things coach John Tortorella was asking of him, it was only a matter of time before a healthy Wolski would bump someone out of the lineup.

Rangers' Christensen In Lineup Saturday

News: Erik Christensen will replace Wojtek Wolski (sore groin) in the lineup on Saturday versus Anaheim, according to NHL.com's Dan Rosen
Analysis: Erik Christensen was quoted as saying: "I need to make things happen with the puck." It's as simple as that, if he hopes to have any chance at regular playing time with the Rangers this year.

Rangers' Christensen Claims Final Forward Spot

News: The Rangers officially placed Sean Avery on waivers Tuesday, according to NHL.com's Dan Rosen, meaning Erik Christensen has claimed the 13th forward spot on the roster.
Analysis: In the final two preseason games, coach John Tortorella played Erik Christensen in various roles: fourth-line center, third-line wing and even first -line left wing. It seems this versatility is what gave him the edge for the final roster spot.

Rangers' Showcasing Christensen?

News: In the battle for the last roster spot on the Rangers, Erik Christensen has played in the final two preseason games, according to Newsday.
Analysis: Sean Avery, Erik Christensens' rival for the 13th forward spot, has been a healthy scratch in the last two preseason games. There is a general sense around the team that this could be more to showcase Christensen for a possible trade rather then proof of his locking up the roster spot. Christensen has a bit more of a positive track record and has half the salary Avery does, making him much easier to move.

Rangers' Christensen Battles For Final Roster Spot.

News: With the training camp roster cut down to 25, the Rangers have just one more cut to make before the season starts. It comes down to a battle between Sean Avery and Erik Christensen, according to NHL.com's Dan Rosen.
Analysis: Coach John Tortorella said he wants to get down to 13 forwards. With Mats Zuccarello seemingly locking up the last starting spot as third line right wing, the 13th forward comes down to a battle between Avery and Erik Christensen.

Rangers' Christensen On Roster Bubble, Playing Tonight

News: Erik Christensen will be playing tonight in the Rangers' preseason match up against HC Sparta Prague, in for Brian Boyle (flu), according to NHL.com
Analysis: Erik Christensen needs to use this opportunity to make a positive impression on the coaching staff, if he expects to remain on the team. He's fighting against his own inconsistent reputation and deeper organizational depth. Coach John Tortorella also seems to prefer his 13th forward to be a checker, while keeping spare scoring forwards in the minors where they can play and keep their game sharp.

Rangers Move Christensen Back To Top Scoring Line

News: Coach John Tortorella will be putting Christensen back between Marian Gaborik and Vinny Prospal in an attempt to get more offense, according to Newsday's Steve Zipay
Analysis: Streaky is the word when it comes to Christensen, but he's a playmaker with an excellent wrist shot who has had success with Gaborik and Prospal before.

Rangers' Christensen Scores In Shootout

News: Christensen and Wojtek Wolski scored in the shootout for the Rangers in their 3-2 win over the Flyers on Sunday. Consistency issues aside, Christensen has been one of the league's most dangerous in the shootout, going 5 for 8 so far this season.
Analysis: Consistency is always the name of the game for Christensen. After a recently productive nine-game stretch, where he tallied 12 points, Christensen is pointless in his last six games. As a result, he's only broken 12 minutes of ice time twice in those six games.

Rangers' Christensen Puts Up Another Two Points

News: Christensen assist on two Rangers' first period goals, in their 6-3 win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Christensen now has 11 points over his last eight games, five goals and six assists. The Christensen-Marian Gaborik, Vaclav Prospal line has 13 point the last three games.

Rangers' Christensen Scores In Return To Lineup

News: Christensen scored a goal, while logging almost 16 minutes in the Rangers' 3-2 shootout win in San Jose on Saturday. He now has seven points in his last six games played.
Analysis: Once again, we'll see if Christensen can play consistently enough to maintain his spot in the starting lineup. Individually and together, Christensen, Marian Gaborik and Vaclav Prospal have shown promising offensive signs of late. The Rangers desperately need this trio to find the chemistry it had last season.

Rangers' Christensen Continues Strong Play

News: Christensen, after some very good forechecking, set up Sean Avery with a beautiful pass from behind the net. This gives Christensen six points in the last 4 games.
Analysis: The consistency challenged Christensen has been one of the Rangers' best two players in four of the last five games. The Rangers' offense has been struggling lately and badly need Christensen to keep up his play. No doubt the Rangers' will look to reunite the Vaclav Prospal-Christensen-Marian Gaborik line, once Gaborik returns from his concussion.

Rangers' Christensen Scores Third Goal In Three Games

News: Christensen seems to have found a little bit of the chemistry he had last year playing with Vaclav Prospal. He has now scored three goals in the last three games playing with Prospal.
Analysis: Talent has never been an issue for Christensen, consistency has. Christensen's improved play the last few games and the prospect of re-uniting the Prospal-Christensen-Marian Gaborik line that had so much success last season, should put him on your radar as a potential fantasy pickup.

Rangers' Christensen Has Big Night Friday

News: Christensen had two goals and added two assists in the Rangers' 6-0 thumping of the Capitals on Friday night.
Analysis: He was pointless in 11 games entering Friday night's action, but he picked a good time to break out offensively against the Caps.
