Devils Activate Cammalleri

News: Mike Cammalleri (groin) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The activation will clear the way for Mike Cammalleri to return to action Tuesday night against the Hurricanes, after he missed the previous four contests due to the groin pull. Despite being limited to just 23 games due to injuries this season, Cammalleri still ranks as the Devils' top goal scorer with 11. He's on tap for a top-line role with Scott Gomez and Jaromir Jagr.

Cammalleri (Lower Body) Practices Monday

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) was on the ice for practice Monday and could play Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri was placed on injured reserve Saturday so the team could recall Mike Sislo from AHL Albany. The combination of Sislo being sent back to the AHL and Cammalleri practicing could indicate he is nearing a return to the ice. Tuesday will be the next opportunity for him to return, but if he can't go, the team has a three-day break before the Devils' next game Saturday.

Devils Place Cammalleri On Injured Reserve

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Since the IR stint is retroactive to last Saturday, the move means that Mike Cammalleri will be unavailable for a fourth straight game. He continues to skate and is being viewed as day-to-day at this time, so despite the IR placement, it seems likely he'll suit up at some point next week.

Devils' Cammalleri To Remain Out Friday

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) will remain out of the lineup Friday against the Lightning, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri created some optimism that he might be ready to play in games after he skated Thursday, but his absence from Friday's morning skate indicates that he will miss his third straight game. It could be the case where the Devils simply didn't want to use him for both ends of their back-to-back set, so he may not be ruled out for Saturday's tilt with the Capitals.

Devils' Cammalleri Skates Thursday

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) skated on his own Thursday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri didn't participate in the Devils' optional practice later in the morning, however, which may prevent him from making his return to the lineup Friday against Tampa Bay. Friday will mark the first game of a back-to-back set in any event, so it's possible the Devils might prefer to save Cammalleri for Saturday's tilt with the Capitals rather than having him play two games immediately upon his return from injury.

Devils' Cammalleri Likely Out Wednesday

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) wasn't present at the Devils' morning skate and doesn't look like he'll play Wednesday against the Senators, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: If that's indeed the case, it will be the second straight game that Mike Cammalleri has missed, and his 10th overall on the season. Despite the extensive time missed, Cammalleri still ranks as the Devils' leading goal scorer by a rather sizable margin, which is probably more of an indictment of the team's lack of offensive talent. Fortunately, the return of Patrik Elias (groin) to the lineup Wednesday will help provide some cushion for Cammalleri's absence.

Devils' Cammalleri Won't Play Monday

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) will not play Monday against the Islanders, Tom Gulitti of the Record reports.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri was sent home to New Jersey Monday morning, so he won't be available for Monday's contest. There's no word yet on his status for Wednesday's game against the Senators, but the good news is that this lower-body injury is not the same one that caused him to miss some time earlier in the month.

Devils' Cammalleri Out For Most Of 2nd And 3rd

News: Mike Cammalleri missed most of the second and third periods Saturday with an undisclosed issue, according to reports on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada.
Analysis: There was still no specific confirmation of the type of injury, although one of the commentators did say, "lower body," and they also added "not good."

Devils' Cammalleri To Suit Up Thursday

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) will return to the lineup Thursday against the Flyers, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri said he had been dealing with a bone bruise that resulted in a muscle pull, but he's since recovered after sitting out the last two games. The veteran winger has been felled by injury issues for the third time in four seasons, but he's been a driving force for the Devils' attack when healthy this season, contributing 11 goals and 15 points in 21 games.

Devils' Cammalleri Could Play Thursday

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) could play Wednesday against the Flyers.
Analysis: The Devils have not definitively said whether or not Mike Cammalleri will play Thursday, but he traveled with the team to Philadelphia, and the Devils removed fellow forward Reid Boucher from the roster Wednesday, so signs are pointing to him returning to action after sitting out New Jersey's last game.

Devils' Cammalleri To Sit Tuesday

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) will sit out Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: The injury will keep Mike Cammalleri out for the second straight game, forcing the Devils to bring in Reid Boucher from AHL Albany for reinforcement on the wing. The Devils continue to list Cammalleri as day-to-day, but he'll probably need to practice Wednesday in order to be a serious candidate to play Thursday in Philadelphia.

Cammallerri (Lower Body) Won't Travel To Carolina

News: Mike Cammalleri (lower body) won't travel with the team to Carolina for the game Monday, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday's game against the Capitals, and it will keep him out Monday. the team returns home for a game Tuesday against the Blackhawks, which would be his next opportunity to return.

Devils' Cammalleri Suffers Lower-Body Injury

News: Mike Cammalleri suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday's game against Washington, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Coach Pete DeBoer offered few details about the injury after the game, so we'll consider Mike Cammalleri day-to-day leading up to Monday's matchup at Carolina until we know more.

Devils' Cammalleri Scores Twice In Win

News: Mike Cammalleri scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season in Friday's loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri now has 14 points in 17 games this season, to go with a tidy plus-3 rating. While it's unlikely he keeps scoring this consistently, Cammalleri could still net 30-plus goals in his first season with New Jersey.

Devils' Cammalleri Could Be Nursing Injury

News: Mike Cammalleri didn't participate during Friday's morning skate and could be nursing an injury, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports. "We're dealing with a few things that probably will be some game-time decisions," coach Pete DeBoer said after the skate.
Analysis: DeBoer acknowledged that Mike Cammalleri's absence didn't necessarily indicate that he was injured, but the only other Devils skater that missed the morning session (Michael Ryder) said he was fine, which would seem to suggest Cammalleri might be concealing something. His status likely won't be known officially until pregame warmups, making the forward something of a risk in leagues with daily lineups.

Devils' Cammalleri Scores Lone Goal In Win

News: Mike Cammalleri netted the only goal of the game Friday against Washington.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri is heating up, netting two goals and four points in his last three games. He is up to seven goals and 11 points in 11 games this season and is proving to be a nice fit in New Jersey. The 32-year-old, who has tallied an impressive three game-winning goals this season, can produce at somewhat close to a point-per-game pace when he is healthy. That last part is key, as he can't seem to avoid the injury bug. Ride him while he's healthy and playing well.

Devils' Cammalleri Sets Up Two Goals

News: Mike Cammalleri produced in his first game back from a neck injury, setting up both of New Jersey's goals in a 4-2 loss to Boston on Monday.
Analysis: In addition to the pair of assists, he also fired three shots on goal and went 5-2 in the face-off circle. Mike Cammalleri is up to an even point-per-game pace this season (nine in nine), and although he won't sustain that, he figures to be a solid fantasy contributor as long as he avoids injury.

Devils' Cammalleri Will Play Monday

News: Mike Cammalleri (neck) will play Monday against the Bruins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri hasn't been in the lineup since Oct. 25. With five goals and two assists in eight games, Cammalleri certainly holds significant fantasy value if he can stay healthy.

Devils' Cammalleri (Neck) Practicing Sunday

News: Mike Cammalleri took the ice for practice Sunday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri didn't travel with the Devils on the their two-game road trip last week, but has returned to the ice and appears to be nearing a return. Though it's unclear if he's been given medical clearance, his upcoming opportunities to return include a trip to Boston on Monday followed by a home game against the Wild on Tuesday.

Devils' Cammalleri Out For Two-Game Road Trip

News: Mike Cammalleri (neck) has resumed skating, but won't receive clearance to play during the Devils' upcoming games in St. Louis and Detroit, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: While it's encouraging that Mike Cammalleri is back on the ice in some capacity, the Devils likely want to have him get in a full practice or two before using him in their lineup. Cammalleri has been out since Oct. 25 due to neck discomfort, but still leads the team with five goals. If he's able to squeeze in a practice over the weekend, he could be an option for coach Pete DeBoer during Monday's game with the Bruins.

Analysis: Though Mike Cammalleri reported improvement with his condition a day earlier, he has yet to resume skating since suffering the injury last week. It will be difficult to gauge when the veteran forward might return until he resumes practicing.

Devils' Cammalleri Doubtful For Saturday

News: Mike Cammalleri (neck) is considered doubtful to play Saturday against the Blue Jackets, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Mike Cammalleri remained off the ice again at Friday's practice while dealing with a jaw and neck issue, and changes appear slim that he'd be able to make a full recovery before Saturday's game. Ryane Clowe is expected to take his spot on the top line Saturday.
