Blues' Michalek Picks up Two Points

News: Zbynek Michalek scored his fourth goal of the season and added an assist in Friday's win over Dallas.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek's been producing of late, tallying two goals and four points in his last five games. The 32-year-old is stuck at 12 points on the season, but he's logging heavy minutes for the Blues and has coming close to the 30-point barrier a few times in his career. He blocks lots of shots and produces some offense, so if you're looking for a late-season pick up in a very deep league, he could be worth grabbing.

Blues' Michalek Pots Goal In Loss

News: Zbynek Michalek scored the team's lone goal in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: It's just Zbynek Michalek's third goal of the season (and first as a member of the Blues), ending a drought that dated back to Jan. 31. The 32-year-old has just 10 points on the year, restricting his fantasy value to deeper formats that reward speciality categories such as blocked shots.

Blues' Michalek Records First Point With St. Louis

News: Zbynek Michalek picked up an assist on the winning goal Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime win against Pittsburgh. He had two PIM, recorded a shot and a blocked shot in the contest.
Analysis: This is just Zbynek Michalek's ninth point of the season and if he's on your fantasy team it's more likely for the blocked shots - he has 146 on the year. He is playing on the Blues' second pairing with Jay Bouwmeester right now, but the impending return of Kevin Shattenkirk (Abdomen) will shake things up a bit. You can expect Michalek to stay in the lineup somewhere, but his ice time may decrease a bit when that happens.

Blues' Michalek Will Play Saturday

News: Zbynek Michalek (concussion) will play Saturday against the Wild, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek will be making his debut with the Blues after he was sent to the team from the Coyotes prior the Mar. 2 trade deadline. He had been dealing with the concussion since mid-February, but after practicing the last few days, Michalek informed coach Ken Hitchcock that he was ready to play. Michalek will swap in for rookie Petteri Lindbohm and pair up with Jay Bouwmeester.

Blues' Michalek Likely To Sit Out Weekend

News: Zbynek Michalek (concussion) isn't expected to play in either of the Blues' games over the weekend, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek has yet to provide coach Ken Hitchcock with an indication that he's ready to play, so the Blues will more than likely hold him out of action until the blueliner says he's ready to go. The head injury has kept Michalek out since Feb. 14, predating his arrival in St. Louis prior to the trade deadline.

Blues Awaiting Go Ahead From Michalek

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock said Thursday that Zbynek Michalek (concussion) will make his Blues debut as soon as the defenseman says he's ready to go, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek said Wednesday that he's no longer experiencing concussion symptoms, but it seems he still wants to get in a full practice or two before entering the lineup. While he'll remain held out of Thursday's game against the Flyers, there's a good possibility that Michalek could suit up for one or both of the Blues' weekend contests.

Blues' Michalek Closing In On Return

News: Zbynek Michalek (concussion) is starting to close in on a return to the lineup, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek has yet to make his debut with the Blues due to the concussion that predated his acquisition, but he's made positive progress in his recovery over the last several days. He resumed skating late last week and was on the ice again for Wednesday's optional practice. It seems a bit unlikely that he'll be cleared to play in time for Thursday's game against the Flyers, but he may have a realistic shot at playing Saturday versus the Wild.

Blues' Michalek Skates Friday

News: Zbynek Michalek (concussion) skated on his own after Friday's practice, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek's Blues debut has been delayed by the head injury, but he seems to be progressing positively and might not be far away from playing again. He could resume practicing in full with the Blues in the next few days, which would likely be the last hurdle he needs to clear in the recovery process.

Blues' Michalek Progressing

News: Zbynek Michalek (concussion) exercised the last three days and was scheduled to skate with the Coyotes on Monday before being traded to the Blues, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: The Blues acquired Zbynek Michalek and a conditional 2015 third-round draft pick in exchange for prospect Maxim Letunov. While he doesn't have a set timetable for return, his progress towards a return is encouraging and it seems plausible he could return at some point in the near future.

Blues Acquire Michalek From Coyotes

News: Zbynek Michalek (concussion) was acquired by the Blues on Monday along with a conditional 2015 third-round draft pick in exchange for prospect Maxim Letunov, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek is facing an uncertain return date after sustaining a concussion in mid-February, but his acquisition by the Blues suggests the team feels confident he might not be out for too much longer. The Blues have been struggling a bit defensively since Kevin Shattenkirk underwent abdominal surgery, but Michalek's impending arrival should at least give the blue line an added shot-blocking presence. However, don't expect Michalek to come close to matching Shattenkirk's output in the scoring categories, as he managed just eight points in 53 games with the Coyotes before succumbing to the head injury.

Coyotes' Michalek Out Thursday

News: Zbynek Michalek (upper body) won't play Thursday against the Rangers Craig Morgan of FOX Sports Arizona reports. "He's still not feeling right," coach Dave Tippett said Wednesday. "We'll just wait and see where it goes."
Analysis: Per the report, it also seems unlikely that Zbynek Michalek -- who has been the subject of trade rumors -- will suit up Saturday against the Bruins.

Coyotes' Zbynek (Upper Body) Not On Trip

News: Coach Dave Tippett indicated that Zbynek Michalek (upper body) is not on the road trip but could join the team later in the week.
Analysis: Michaek's status for the road trip was questionable coming in, but the latest news rules him out for Monday's game against the Devils and likely for Tuesday's tilt with the Islanders as well. If that is indeed the case, he could still rejoin the team Thursday in New York or Saturday in Boston.

Coyotes' Michalek Questionable For Road Trip

News: Zbynek Michalek (upper body) may not join on the team on its upcoming road trip, which starts Monday in New Jersey and lasts more than a week, reports Sarah McLellan of AZCentral.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek's uncertain status is hurting his trade stock as much as the Coyotes' ability to win games, which at this point may be more important to the franchise. The veteran is a known quantity to fantasy owners in leagues where blocked shots are an important commodity.

Coyotes' Michalek Out Saturday

News: Zbynek Michalek (lower body) remains day-to-day, but he will not play in Saturday's game against the Lightning, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek at least picked the right time for an injury, with Arizona in a forgiving part of the schedule that includes just two games in a stretch of seven days. Michalek can be considered questionable for Monday's game in New Jersey.

Coyotes' Michalek Doesn't Travel With Team

News: Zbynek Michalek suffered a lower body injury and did not travel with the team for Monday's game against the Avalanche, Craig Morgan of FoxSports Arizona reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek skated for 17:53 worth of ice time in the team's last game Saturday against the Rangers, so the exact nature of when and where the injury occurred are not entirely clear. He's currently listed as day-to-day, and since the Coyotes have four days off after Monday's contest, it's possible he'll be able to return on Saturday against the Lightning.

Coyotes' Michalek Scored In Loss

News: Zbynek Michalek scored his second goal of the season Saturday as the Coyotes were blown out by Ottawa. It was his only shot on net and he was minus-2 while adding a hit and blocked shot.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek may be winding up his time in the desert as the Coyotes continue to flounder and he is a pending free agent after the season. The veteran could draw interest on the trade market as he is still an excellent shot blocker and defensive presence.

Coyotes' Michalek Set To Play Tuesday

News: Zbynek Michalek (upper body) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Flyers, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek hasn't played since Jan. 17 due to the upper-body injury, but looks to be good to go after returning to practice Monday. The blueliner, who has seven points and a minus-4 rating in 42 games this season, will form a pairing with the more offensive-minded Oliver Ekman-Larsson on Tuesday.

Coyotes' Michalek (Upper Body) Out Tuesday

News: Zbynek Michalek (upper body) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek's chances of suiting up Tuesday took a hit after he wasn't able to partake in the Coyotes' morning skate. He'll head to the press box for the second straight game while Philip Samuelsson takes his spot in the lineup.

Coyotes' Michalek (Upper Body) Out Sunday

News: Zbynek Michalek (upper body) will not play Sunday against the Jets.
Analysis: The Coyotes made a late announcement, stating that Zbynek Michalek is day-to-day with an upper body injury. The diagnosis is expectedly vague, but Michalek should be considered questionable to play Tuesday in Chicago.

Coyotes' Michalek To Return Tuesday

News: Zbynek Michalek (upper body) will play Tuesday against the Sharks, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek will return to action Tuesday after missing the Coyotes' last two games. He figures to reclaim his role as part of Arizona's top defensive pairing alongside Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Coyotes' Michalek (Upper Body) Ruled Out Saturday

News: Zbynek Michalek (upper body) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Senators, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: With Zbynek Michalek missing his second straight game with the injury, Michael Stone will occupy his spot next to Oliver Ekman-Larsson on the top defensive pairing. The Coyotes are considering Michalek day-to-day.

Coyotes' Michalek Out With Upper-Body Injury

News: Zbynek Michalek will miss Thursday's game against the Jets due to an upper-body injury, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek will miss his first game of the season after the injury prevented him from taking part in the Coyotes' gameday skate. He's being viewed as day-to-day at this time, making him a candidate to return to action Saturday versus the Senators if he's able to practice before that time. Michael Stone will take Michalek's spot on the Coyotes' top defensive pairing Thursday.

Coyotes' Michalek Scores First Goal Of Season

News: Zbynek Michalek scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's win over Anaheim.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek now has six points in 35 games, to go with a minus-5 rating. Considering it's been five years since the 32-year-old surpassed the 20-point mark, don't expect much more offense from Michalek this season. Considering he sees almost no power-play time, Michalek doesn't provide much fantasy value outside of the deepest of leagues.

Coyotes' Michalek Picks Up Assist

News: Zbynek Michalek registered an assist Friday in a 5-0 win over the Canucks. He was plus-2 and blocked three shots in the contest.
Analysis: That is two consecutive games with an assist for Zbynek Michalek, but don't count on it continuing as he has never been a scoring defenseman. On the other hand, his 37 blocked shots on the season have him in a tie for 14th in the NHL, where he adds tremendous value in leagues that count blocks.

Coyotes' Michalek Picks Up Assist

News: Zbynek Michalek picked up an assist Thursday in a 5-3 loss to the Flames. He added two shots, a hit, and four blocked shots.
Analysis: Zbynek Michalek's contributions for fantasy purposes are limited to leagues that count blocked shots, at which he is one of the best. With three points in 16 games, he is scoring at a higher rate than usual, but he will nevertheless not be a real factor on offense.
