Hawks' Sharp Scores In Win

News: Patrick Sharp scored a power-play goal in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Flames.
Analysis: Playing in just his fourth game in over a month, Patrick Sharp netted his first goal since the end of October. The 32-year-old has 11 points through 17 games, and as he shakes off the rust from his leg injury, the points should start to come more frequently.

Blackhawks' Sharp Returning Tuesday

News: Patrick Sharp (leg) will be activated from injured reserve and return to the Chicago lineup Tuesday against New Jersey, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: The leg injury kept Patrick Sharp out for 14 games and a total of a little over a month, or about a week longer than the Blackhawks had initially expected upon their first diagnosis of his condition. Despite the minor setback, it looks like the winger is now fully healthy and ready to resume what had been a respectable season prior to suffering the long-term injury. Sharp accumulated nine points in 13 games and is slated to join Bryan Bickell and Andrew Shaw on the third line in his return.

Hawks' Sharp Expected Back Tuesday

News: Patrick Sharp (leg) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Devils, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Patrick Sharp's recovery from the leg injury has taken slightly longer than initially expected, but he resumed practicing with the team earlier this week and appears on track to return for the second game of the Blackhawks' road trip. The 32-year-old has chipped in three goals and six assists in 13 games so far this season.

Blackhawks' Sharp Won't Return Until Next Week

News: Patrick Sharp (leg) will not return until next week at the earliest, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Though Patrick Sharp resumed practicing with the Blackhawks on Tuesday, coach Joel Quenneville expressed a desire to use the forward only if he was "more than ready" to play, stating that he wanted him to absorb more contact before returning. Sharp will be ruled out for both ends of the Blackhawks' back-to-back set, but should be a lineup option for the team as early as next Tuesday. That would put him total length of absence at five weeks -- about one-to-two longer than initially anticipated.

Blackhawks' Sharp Likely Out Friday, Too

News: Patrick Sharp will not play Wednesday against the Blues and is expected to miss Friday's game versus the Canadiens as well, CSN Chicago's Tracey Myers reports.
Analysis: Friday's game will mark the first of a back-to-back set for the Blackhawks, so coach Joel Quenneville would probably want to avoid a scenario where Patrick Sharp has to reenter the lineup and log heavy minutes right off the bat. Quenneville hasn't shed any light into where Sharp would play on once he returns, so a top-six role may not be guaranteed immediately upon his activation.

Blackhawks' Sharp Will Not Play Wednesday

News: Patrick Sharp (leg) resumed practicing with the Blackhawks on Tuesday but will not play Wednesday against the Blues.
Analysis: Patrick Sharp's return wasn't expected in any event, but he was able to take the ice Tuesday, so there's a chance his return could be pushed back just one game. Expect the Blackhawks to update Sharp's status in advance of the team's back-to-back weekend tilts with Montreal and Nashville.

Hawks' Sharp Might Not Return Dec. 3

News: Patrick Sharp (leg) might not return by the expected Dec. 3 contest against the Blues, head coach Joe Quenneville told the team's official Twitter account.
Analysis: Patrick Sharp could return for the Dec. 5 contest at home against Montreal. He had started practicing last week. It will be on the long end of the three-to-four week prognosis when he went down on November 4. Sharp has been durable in the past including skating in all 82 games last season. He has nine points in 13 games this season.

Blackhawks' Sharp On Track To Return Next Week

News: Head coach Joel Quenneville expects Patrick Sharp (leg) to return to action Dec. 3, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Patrick Sharp resumed skating over the weekend, and he should be ready to resume playing after another week of practice. Sharp had nine points in 13 games earlier this season and 78 points in 82 games last season, so he should provide fantasy owners with a scoring boost once he officially comes off injured reserve.

Hawks' Sharp Begins Skating

News: Patrick Sharp (leg) has resumed skating in Chicago, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: The star winger is still on long-term injured reserve and isn't expected to return during the team's current six-game road trip. The news is still positive, though, since it means his recovery is still on track, and he should be back in the lineup in early December.

Hawks' Sharp Placed On LTIR

News: Patrick Sharp (leg) was moved to long-term injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: The move doesn't signal a change in Patrick Sharp's recovery timetable, as he's believed to be close to resuming skating and on track for a return in early December. The Blackhawks simply wanted to open up an extra roster spot, which will be reserved for Phillip Danault, who was recalled from AHL Rockford in a corresponding move.

Blackhawks' Sharp Close To Skating

News: Patrick Sharp (leg) is close to resuming skating and could join the Blackhawks on their road trip, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: If Patrick Sharp does end up joining the team, it would likely be for the practice purposes, as coach Joel Quenneville indicated that it's "doubtful" the forward plays in a game before the Blackhawks return to Chicago on Nov. 29. Sharp still seems on track to be ready to go at some point in early December.

Chicago's Sharp Making Progress

News: Coach Joel Quenneville said Thursday that Patrick Sharp (knee) is "making good progress" in his recovery, Tracey Myers of CSNChicago.com reports.
Analysis: Patrick Sharp remains under the three-to-four week return timetable the Blackhawks' prescribed for him last Thursday, putting him on track to return either later this month or early in December. He's yet to resume skating yet, but that could occur at some point next week.

Blackhawks' Sharp Ruled Out3-4 Weeks

News: Coach Joel Quenneville announced Thursday that Patrick Sharp (knee) will miss three-to-four weeks.
Analysis: As was expected, Patrick Sharp will be looking at essentially a month-long absence after he was forced out of Tuesday's game with the knee injury. The Blackhawks added Peter Regin from AHL Rockford to help restore some depth at forward, but it will be Brandon Saad who is expected to get the first crack at replacing Sharp on the Blackhawks' second line. Sharp has three goals and six assists over 13 games.

Blackhawk' Sharp Likely Out At Least A Month

News: Patrick Sharp will miss at least a month with a right leg injury suffered in Tuesday's game, The Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Blackhawks have not provided an official update on Patrick Sharp's recovery timetable, but it appears he will be sidelined until sometime in December. Expect Sharp's status to be updated when the Blackhawks release more information, possibly sometime Thursday.

Blackhawks' Sharp Likely Out Several Weeks

News: Patrick Sharp could miss several weeks due to the knee injury he suffered in Tuesday's game, according to Mark Lazerus of The Chicago Sun-Times.
Analysis: An exact timetable for Patrick Sharp's recovery is uncertain, but head coach Joel Quenneville said Sharp will be "out for a bit," and indicated that would be measured in weeks instead of days. The Blackhawks have shuffled their lines often of late, and will be forced to do so once again.

Chicago's Sharp Exits Tuesday With Leg Injury

News: Patrick Sharp left Tuesday's game against the Canadiens in the third period with an apparent right knee injury, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Patrick Sharp appeared to suffer the injury when he was hit into the boards by the Habs' Alexei Emelin. He remained down on the ice for several minutes, and didn't appear to put much weight on his leg while heading to the locker room. The Blackhawks have more than likely ruled out his return to action Tuesday and are likely just hoping he was able to avoid a long-term injury. The team should have an update on his status after the game.

Hawks' Sharp Nets Power-Play Tally In Win

News: Patrick Sharp scored a power-play goal and added an assist in Saturday's loss to the Blues.
Analysis: Patrick Sharp has now scored three power-play goals this season, which is second-best in the NHL. The 32-year-old is well on his way to another strong season, recording eight points through his first seven games. Sharp has also recorded 31 shots on goal thus far, a sign he is continually involved in the offensive attack. This sniper is fantasy gold and needs to be in your lineup every night the Hawks are playing.

Sharp Assists Twice In Hawks' Win

News: Patrick Sharp assisted on both of Patrick Kane's power-play goals Tuesday in a 4-0 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: As usual, Patrick Sharp has been one of the league's most reliable point-getters. Rumors of his demise appear to have been greatly exaggerated.

Hawks' Sharp's Goal Sends Thursday's Game Into OT

News: Patrick Sharp had a goal and assist in the Blackhawks' 3-2 shootout victory at Dallas on Thursday in the team's season opener, CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Patrick Sharp's first goal of the season in the third period sent the game into overtime against the Stars. The Blackhawks host Buffalo on Saturday. Sharp has had some success in a limited number of games against the Sabres in his 12-year career, with four goals and three assists in 11 games against Buffalo.

Chicago's Sharp To Man Top-Line Left Wing Spot

News: Patrick Sharp is penciled in to serve as the Blackhawks' top line left wing, CSNChicago.com's Tracey Myers reports.
Analysis: Though he's coming off a career-best season in which he netted 34 goals and 78 points, Patrick Sharp's stock heading into the upcoming campaign seems to be trending downward nonetheless, after he lost out on ice time to Brandon Saad in the playoffs and was dogged by trade rumors over the summer. While the Blackhawks' window to deal him has probably closed at this point, Sharp probably doesn't have much more room for improvement as he enters his age-33 season. He'll still be a potent scorer and deliver an excellent plus/minus rating for one of hockey's most talent teams; just don't overpay for last season's numbers.

Hawks Could Move Sharp Over Offseason

News: Patrick Sharp could be traded this summer as the Blackhawks look to bring in a high-profile center, NBC Chicago reports.
Analysis: The Blackhawks are looking for an upgrade at the second-line center spot that was considered their downfall during the recent Stanley Cup playoffs, and Patrick Sharp might represent the team's best trade chip in order to fill that glaring void. Sharp is certainly a popular Blackhawk and was a key contributor during the team's two recent title runs, but the team has several attractive options to replace him on the wing. Sharp is due $5.9 million per season for the next three years, but other teams likely consider him a desirable asset at that price. Sharp's output was down in the playoffs, but he still led the Blackhawks in goals (34) and points (78) during the regular season.

Blackhawks' Sharp Pots Two Goals In Losing Effort

News: Patrick Sharp potted two goals in Sunday's Game 7 loss to the Kings.
Analysis: After totaling a career-best 78 points during the regular season, Patrick Sharp took a bit of a backseat to the ascendant Brandon Saad in the playoffs, particularly in the Western Conference Finals. Largely relegated to a third-line role during the series, Sharp saw about 17 minutes of action per contest against the Kings, almost a minute and a half less than he averaged during the regular season. The 32-year-old at least saved his best game of the postseason for last, but his 10 points in 19 playoff games didn't exactly meet expectations.

Hawks' Sharp Ends Playoff Goal Drought

News: Patrick Sharp ended a five-game Stanley Cup playoff drought this postseason with a goal in Game 3 against the Kings on Saturday night.
Analysis: Unfortunately for Patrick Sharp and the Hawks, it came with five seconds remaining in the game, but the team is hoping that it gets Sharp going in Game 4 and beyond. He last scored in Game 4 against the Wild on May 9. Sharp has three goals and four assists in 15 playoff games this postseason.

Blackhawks' Sharp Tallies Two Assists

News: Patrick Sharp had two helpers against the Wild in Sunday's Game 6 win for the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Patrick Sharp had a career year during the regular season, but he only has two goals and four assists in 11 games in these playoffs. However, five of these point have been in this series against the Wild.

Chicago's Sharp Helps Out On Two Friday

News: Patrick Sharp picked up two assists in Friday's Game 1 win over the Wild.
Analysis: After totaling a career-high 78 points in 82 regular-season contests, Patrick Sharp's come down quite a bit from that scoring pace in the playoffs, registering only three points through seven games. Those who own him in postseason leagues can at least be encouraged that all three of his points have come over the last two games, so perhaps it's a sign of better things to come.
