Habs' St. Pierre Makes Season Debut

Analysis: Martin St. Pierre got the start ahead of David Desharnais, a healthy scratch whose consecutive game streak ended at 76. The man-advantage time is a curious decision by head coach Michel Therrien. The former Hamilton Bulldog received all of the power-play ice time in the third period of a 2-2 game.

Analysis: Daugavins, a third-round pick in 2006, has 21 points in 37 AHL games this season. He has yet to play in an NHL game and the 21-year old has no Fantasy value at this time. St. Pierre can also be ignored in all formats.

St. Pierre signs with Ottawa

News: The Sports Xchange reports Senators C Martin St. Pierre signed a two-way deal with Ottawa (his hometown) that pays him $525,000 in the NHL and $250,000 in the minor leagues.
Analysis: St. Pierre spent the 2008-09 season in the Boston organization. He had four points (two goals) in 14 games with the Bruins and 66 points (15 goals) in 61 games with Providence of the AHL. St. Pierre has dominated on the AHL level, but he has never really received a fair shot in the NHL. Ignore St. Pierre in Fantasy until he becomes a relevant player.

Bruins make roster moves Monday

News: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced Monday that defenseman Matt Lashoff and goaltender Kevin Regan were assigned to the Providence Bruins of the AHL. They also recalled goaltender Tuukka Rask and forward Martin St. Pierre from the Providence on an emergency basis.
Analysis: Lashoff is one of the Bruins' top defensive prospect, but he is just organizational depth at this time. Rask is also a top prospect, but is up because Manny Fernandez is battling an undisclosed ailment. He will be back in the minors shortly. Those two primarily have Fantasy value in long-term keeper leagues, while St. Pierre and Regan has little to no value.

St. Pierre capitalizes off turnover

News: Bruins C Martin St. Pierre scored a goal during Tuesday's 5-2 win against the Penguins. Sidney Crosby had an assist in his 250th NHL game, but gave away the puck ahead of St. Pierre's short-handed goal at 5:28 of the third. That goal came with the Penguins pressing to tie it but instead allowed the Bruins to take a 4-2 lead. St. Pierre's goal was his first since Feb. 14, 2007, and the second of his career, both against Pittsburgh.
Analysis: St. Pierre was called up in late December after Marco Sturm and Patrice Bergeron both went on IR. He has pretty much been organizational depth in his career and should be headed back to the minors eventually. Despite the goal, he has little to no Fantasy value.

Analysis: With Sturm out a month, Pierre could get some decent playing time on the lower lines. However, don't go pick him up off of waivers until he proves himself at the NHL level.

The 24-year-old St. Pierre played in five NHL games last season and spent time with the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate in Rockford, Ill. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said St. Pierre will provide depth at the center position. Pierre can be ignored in Fantasy until further notice.

Analysis: St. Pierre will likely challenge for a regular spot with the Blackhawks in 2007-08, so he is worth a look in the largest of keeper formats.

Pierre scores first NHL goal

News: Blackhawks F Martin Pierre scored his first NHL goal and F Pierre Parenteau scored his first NHL point on the Hawks' third goal Wednesday against the Penguins. Pierre also led the Hawks with three hits.
Analysis: Pierre scored a goal just hours after being recalled from the AHL. Unless he starts pouring in goals at a rapid pace, he is not worth using in Fantasy leagues.
