Talbot Registers First Point As A Bruin

News: Maxime Talbot gathered an assist in Saturday's 3-2 OT loss to the Flyers, his first point as a Bruin.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot's first point in the black and gold came in style, as set up Brad Marchand's game-winning goal in overtime. The gritty veteran doesn't offer much in terms of fantasy value (16 points in 65 games), but he could be a nice little x-factor for the B's as they push to secure a playoff spot -- especially since Talbot's done his best work in the postseason, with 39 points in 84 games.

Talbot Debuts With Bruins

News: In his debut with the Bruins, Maxime Talbot saw 10:56 worth of ice time in the team's shootout loss to the Flames on Thursday.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot, acquired from the Avs on Monday in advance of the NHL trade deadline, brings grit and experience to the B's, but his fantasy impact figures to be modest in his role as a bottom-six forward for the team. In 64 games this season, Talbot has recorded five goals and 15 points.

Talbot Traded To Bruins

News: The Avalanche traded Maxime Talbot and Paul Carey to the Bruins on Monday in exchange for Jordan Caron and a 2016 sixth-round draft pick, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot, who has notched five goals and 10 assists in 63 games with the Avs this season, gives the Bruins some added depth and experience up front, something that will come in handy, with centers Gregory Campbell and David Krejci currently sidelined.

Avs' Talbot Pots Goal In Win

News: Maxime Talbot scored the Avs' lone goal in Saturday's loss to the Wild.
Analysis: The goal was Maxime Talbot's first in a month, but his lack of ice time (7:47) in the game might be the more notable development. An inconsistent minutes count makes it hard to rely on Talbot for much more than the occasional point here or there, which simply isn't good enough to warrant ownership, even in most deep leagues.

Avs Talbot Finds Net Friday

News: Maxime Talbot potted his fourth goal of the season in Friday's 3-0 triumph over the Predators.
Analysis: The tally went down as Maxime Talbot's first game-winner of the season. As a fixture in the Avs' bottom six, scoring opportunities are rare for Talbot, and he typically doesn't deliver an overwhelming amount of hits or PIM to compensate for it.

Avs' Talbot Collects Assist In Win

News: Maxime Talbot registered an assist in Saturday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: In a rather unusual decision, coach Patrick Roy decided to deploy Maxime Talbot, who has typically been a bottom-six forward, on the top line Saturday. He was able to hook up with defenseman Erik Johnson for the Avs' first goal of the game and ended up seeing 19 minutes of ice time. Given that the Avs turned in one of their better games of the season Saturday, it wouldn't be surprising if Talbot stuck around on the top line for another game or two, though it's probably unlikely that he'll remain there permanently.

Avs' Talbot: Two-Point Game

News: Maxime Talbot scored his first goal of the season and added an assist in Saturday's loss to Philadelphia.
Analysis: His fantasy value has typically been restricted to spot starts over the years and nothing has really changed. This was a nice night, but that's about it.

Avs' Talbot Finally Gets First Points

News: Maxime Talbot picked up his first two points of the season in Thursday's win over the Islanders, handing out a pair of assists to go with a plus-2 rating.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot had just nine shots on goal and not a single point in the first 10 games of the season, but finally woke up on Thursday. He's seen his ice time take a significant hit this year, and though he skated more on Thursday, it's hard not to notice that Talbot's averaging easily his lowest TOI since the 2009-10 season.

Avs' Talbot Adds Two Helpers Wednesday

News: Maxime Talbot picked up two assists in Wednesday's loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot entered the week without a point in his last six games, but he's since rebounded with three points in his last two games. The forward has certainly shown flashes of his scoring potential at various points this season for the Avs, but he'll have a tough time sustaining his production working outside of a top-six role.

Avs' Talbot Scores Eighth In Tuesday`s Loss

News: Maxime Talbot scored his eighth goal of the season Tuesday in a 6-3 loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: The gritty Quebec-native got to the dirty area on this one, boxing out Tomas Plekanec a split second before snapping a perfect centering pass from Matt Duchene past Carey Price. It's little glimpses of offensive savvy like this that remind us how Maxime Talbot came just one goal shy of 20 playing with Daniel Briere and Jakub Voracek three seasons ago in Philadelphia. In terms of potential, Talbot is one of the higher-end depth forwards out there, but with coach Patrick Roy choosing to stockpile his biggest offensive weapons on the top two lines, Talbot doesn't get much of a supporting cast - limiting his scoring chances. Remember, the Avs brought Talbot (and his $1.8 million price tag) to Denver primarily for his playoff prowess -- 39 points in 77 games, including a Stanley Cup-winning goal with the Penguins -- which unfortunately doesn't impact regular-season fantasy play.

Avs' Talbot Returns To Action Friday

News: Maxime Talbot (personal) returned to the Avalanche lineup Friday against Phoenix after missing the previous game due to the birth of his son.
Analysis: The proud new father and his fiancee named their baby boy Jaxson Spartacus Maxime Talbot. He spent the majority of the game on a line with John Mitchell and Jamie McGinn, registering one shot in 15:56 of ice time, 4:12 of which was spent on the penalty kill.

Avs' Talbot A Late Scratch Wednesday

News: Maxime Talbot (personal) missed Wednesday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot's fiancee went into labor shortly before game time, keeping the winger out of the lineup for the team's first game out of the break. The expectation is that he'll be available for Friday's game against the Coyotes, but coach Patrick Roy could still give him the night off to spend time with his newborn.

Avs' Talbot Questionable For Wednesday

News: Maxime Talbot (personal) could miss Wednesday's game vs. the Kings, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot participated at the team's morning skate Wednesday, but with his fiancee set to give birth to the couple's child any day now, the forward could be forced out of action. Cody McLeod would be bumped up to Talbot's spot on the third line if he's unable to go Thursday.

Avs' Talbot Misses Practice

News: Maxime Talbot (personal) did not practice with the team Monday, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot was at the hospital Wednesday while his fiancee was in labor, so there's no reason to believe that he won't suit up for Wednesday's game against the Kings. Talbot currently has six goals and 13 assists in 58 games this season.

Avs' Talbot Dishes Twice

News: Maxime Talbot collected two assists in Monday's win over the Stars.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot is building a nice rapport with his teammates, as he now has five helpers in the last five games. The Avs will rely on his veteran leadership as the team continues to battle within a competitive Central Division.

Avs' Talbot Notches Goal, Assist In Win

News: Maxime Talbot scored a goal and assisted on another during the Avalanche's 3-2 win over the Flames on Friday.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot notched his second goal of the season late in the second period to tie up the game and then assisted on a goal just 54 seconds later to give the Avs a lead they would not relinquish. The two points were his first in seven games and he now has just two goals and four assists through 16 games this season.

Talbot Tallies First Points With Avs

News: Maxime Talbot dished out a pair of assists in Tuesday's win over Chicago -- his first points since joining the Avalanche.
Analysis: It took him nine games, but Maxime Talbot finally broke through with his new team. He's still seeing good ice time, but despite his always-solid contributions on the ice and veteran leadership, Talbot's not much of an offensive force.

Avs' Talbot To Skate On Third Line In Team Debut

News: Maxime Talbot will skate on the Avalanche's third line in his team debut against the Stars on Friday, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Even as a third-liner, Maxime Talbot will likely enjoy a much more friendly situation for his fantasy situation than he did with the scoring-deficient Flyers. He'll work on the third line with talented rookie Nathan MacKinnon and John Mitchell in his debut.

Flyers Trade Talbot To Avs For Steve Downie

News: The Flyers traded Maxime Talbot to the Avalanche on Thursday in exchange for Steve Downie, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: Despite having just two points (1G, 1A) on the season, Maxime Talbot does own a plus-8 rating over the past three seasons (plus-1 this year) and figures to see a spike in playing time upon his arrival to Colorado. He'll provide the Avs with some much-needed experience at the center position.

Talbot Finds The Net As Flyers Lose

News: Maxime Talbot was credited with the Flyers' lone goal in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Coyotes.
Analysis: Zac Rinaldo's spinning shot deflected on Maxime Talbot's skate for the Flyers' only goal in their loss to Phoenix. New coach Craig Berube has been tinkering with the Flyers' lines, and it looks like Talbot may stay with Sean Couturier and Rinaldo. The goal was a lucky surprise for Talbot, so don't expect much production from the third-line winger.

Flyers' Talbot Back In Action

News: Maxime Talbot potted a goal and was plus-1 in the Flyers' most recent preseason game Tuesday.
Analysis: A fractured leg brought a premature ending for Maxime Talbot last season, but he appears to be fine at this point and will reprise his role as a checking-line center for the Flyers in his third season with the club.

Flyers' Talbot Done For Season

News: Maxime Talbot (leg) is out for the season, Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot suffered a fractured left leg Sunday, so this is no real surprise, but now his status for the remainder of the season has officially been confirmed by general manager Paul Holmgren.

Flyers' Talbot Fractures Leg

News: Maxime Talbot will be out indefinitely due to a fractured left leg that he suffered Sunday against the Caps, philly.com reports.
Analysis: There has been no timetable set for Maxime Talbot's recovery, but it seems safe to assume that his regular season is done, at the very least. If so, Talbot will finish the 2012-13 campaign with five goals and 10 points in 35 games.

Flyers' Talbot Hurt Sunday

News: Maxime Talbot (lower-body injury) will not return to Sunday's game against the Caps, the Flyers' official site reports.
Analysis: Prior to his exit from Sunday's contest, Maxime Talbot saw 9:39 worth of ice time, while recording his fifth goal of the season in the process.

Talbot Scores In Flyers' Win

News: Maxime Talbot tallied his second goal in three games, netting Philadelphia's only goal in Friday's shootout win over New Jersey.
Analysis: Maxime Talbot's primary role on the ice is not usually to score goals, but rather help the Flyers stop them. On Friday, he was the beneficiary of a great pass from Simon Gagne and two Devils' defenders falling into goalie Johan Hedberg.Talbot has three goals on the season and likely won't score at too prolific a pace in the season's final 20 games.
