Hawks' Carcillo Lights Lamp Saturday

News: Daniel Carcillo scored his first goal of the season Saturday night in a 6-2 home-opening win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo's return with the Blackhawks has gone off very well. During his first trip with the Hawks two seasons ago, he could barely stay on the ice, mainly because of injuries. Scoring is secondary for him, though, as Carcillo's main role is agitator and fighter. In 57 games last season between the Rangers and Kings, Carcillo had four goals; his career-best production (13 goals, 11 assists) came in 2007-08 with the Coyotes.

Blackhawks Ink Carcillo To One-Way Deal

News: Daniel Carcillo signed a one-year, $550,000 contract with the Blackhawks on Saturday, CSNChicago.com's Tracey Myers reports.
Analysis: It's a one-way deal for Daniel Carcillo, virtually ensuring that he'll be a part of the Blackhawks' Opening Night roster. After Brandon Mashinter suffered a late injury in camp to end his bid for a roster spot, Carcillo will be plugged in as an option on the fourth line for Chicago. Carcillo demonstrated his familiar bullying ways in Friday's preseason game against the Rangers, dropping the gloves within the game's first three minutes.

Blackhawks Bring In Carcillo

News: Daniel Carcillo has been added to the Blackhawks' training camp roster, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Cut by the Penguins just a day earlier, Daniel Carcillo will get another look in Chicago, as the team looks to upgrade its checking line. Given Carcillo's familiarity with coach Joel Quenneville, it wouldn't be a surprise if he ended up beating out Brandon Mashinter for a roster spot.

Pens Release Carcillo From PTO

News: Daniel Carcillo was released from his professional tryout offer with the Penguins on Thursday, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: A foot injury limited Daniel Carcillo throughout training camp, and was likely the kiss of death to his chances of making the 23-man roster. The experienced fourth liner could get a look from another club at some point this season, but likely not until he's further removed from the foot injury.

Carcillo Added To Lineup For Wednesday

News: Daniel Carcillo has been added to the lineup for Wednesday's preseason finale against the Red Wings, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo will be looking to show that he deserves to make the team in his second preseason appearance with the Penguins. The left winger spent time with both the Kings and the Rangers last season but hopes to find a roster spot with the Penguins. He sat out the first four preseason games while rehabbing a lingering foot injury, but it appears to no longer be an issue.

Pens' Carcillo Bothered By Foot Injury

News: Daniel Carcillo, who is participating in Penguins camp on a professional tryout, is dealing with a foot injury, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo entered training camp carrying over the foot injury from a season earlier, and has not been able to suit up for any preseason action. He's expected to return to the ice for Saturday's tilt with the Blue Jackets, but it may be too late for him to make a legitimate push for a roster spot.

Penguins Sign Carcillo To PTO

News: Daniel Carcillo professional tryout contract with the Penguins on Thursday.
Analysis: After splitting last season between the Kings and Rangers, Daniel Carcillo will look for work with the organization that originally drafted him. He'll audition for a role on the Pens' checking line, but is unlikely to post the lofty hit or PIM totals to make him a viable fantasy option.

Carcillo To Stick With Rangers?

News: With the news of fourth-line winger Derek Dorsett being dealt to Vancouver on Friday, Daniel Carcillo's chances of re-signing with the Eastern Conference champions increases.
Analysis: The unrestricted free agent was originally acquired at midseason from the Rangers' eventual Stanley Cup opponents, Los Angeles. While Dorsett's exit is more about the organization tightening up cap space, it certainly improves Daniel Carcillo's importance to the team. The 29-year-old scrapper logged five goals and 55 penalty minutes in 39 games with the Blueshirts this season, including two goals in just eight postseason contests.

Suspension Over For Rangers' Carcillo

News: Daniel Carcillo has completed his six-game suspension and will be eligible to play in Wednesday's Game 4 against the Rangers, Elliott Teaford of InsideSoCal.com reports.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo was initially handed a 10-game ban for physically abuse of an official in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals series against the Canadiens, but the penalty was reduced to six games following an appeal. It's unclear whether coach Alain Vigneault will feel comfortable using him in an elimination game against his former team, who traded him to the Rangers in January.

Rangers' Carcillo Has Suspension Reduced

News: Daniel Carcillo's 10-game suspension has been reduced to six games, making him eligible to return in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, NHL.com's Dan Rosen reports.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo was initially handed an automatic 10-game suspension for making contact with an official in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. After serving three games of the suspension already, Carcillo's reduced punishment will only require him to sit out the first three games of the upcoming series against the Kings. The decision comes as great news for the Rangers, who will be afforded extra depth late in their title quest.

Rangers' Carcillo To Have Appeal Heard Friday

News: Daniel Carcillo will have his appeal for a 10-game suspension heard Friday morning, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo has already served two games following the game misconduct penalty he was handed in Game 3 of the Rangers' series with the Canadiens for abuse of an official. He'll be able to meet with the league office and plead his case for a reduced penalty. Even if the NHL decides to shave a few games off Carcillo's ban, it seems unlikely he would be cleared to play during the remainder of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Rangers' Carcillo To Appeal Suspension

News: Daniel Carcillo will have a meeting with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to appeal his 10-game suspension, TSN's James Mirtle reports.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo received an automatic 10-game suspension for physical abuse of an official, and he probably won't have much of an argument. He'll likely miss the remainder of the Eastern Conference finals, and if the suspension is held up, he won't be eligible to return until Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. Should the Rangers fail to advance, he'll start next season with a suspension.

Rangers' Carcillo Suspended 10 Games

News: The NHL has suspended Daniel Carcillo for 10 games for his physical abuse of an official during Thursday's Game 3, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: The NHL determined that Daniel Carcillo's actions fell under rule 40.3 of the league's rulebook, resulting in an automatic 10-game suspension. The earliest he will be eligible again would be for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals if the conference finals also goes to seven games, so it's safest to just consider him out for the remainder of the postseason.

Rangers' Carcillo Gets Game Misconduct

News: Daniel Carcillo received a game misconduct early in Thursday's Game 3 after elbowing a linesman. The shorthanded Rangers ended up falling to Montreal in overtime.
Analysis: He could face a suspension for contacting the linesman like that, and ended up with a total of 12 PIM thanks to the charging penalty that preceded his confrontation with the official. Daniel Carcillo could find himself out of the lineup next game even if he doesn't get suspended, as coach Alain Vigneault can't be happy with the way his other forwards were forced into extra shifts by Carcillo's temper tantrum.

Carcillo Back In Rangers' Press Box

News: Daniel Carcillo was among the Rangers removed from Monday's lineup in Game 3 against Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Coach Alain Vigneault replaced Daniel Carcillo and fellow forward Derek Dorsett with Jesper Fast and J.T. Miller in search of more offense. The move didn't work, as Marc-Andre Fleury shut out the Rangers for the second straight game. Carcillo scored two goals in the series against the Flyers, but had more of his typical physical look in the first two games with Pittsburgh, totaling eight hits and four PIM.

Rangers' Carcillo Scores In Win

News: Daniel Carcillo netted a goal in Wednesday's Game 7 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: The former Flyer broke his former team's hearts for the second time in the series as he helped propel his team into the second round. Daniel Carcillo only suited up for three games in Round 1, but scored two goals and finished the series with a plus-2 rating and six PIM.

Rangers' Carcillo Expected To Play

News: Daniel Carcillo is expected to take the ice for Wednesday's Game 7, the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo netted a goal in Game 3 but was a healthy scratch in Games 5 and 6. His return likely means J.T. Miller, who's recorded two assists in two games, will be scratched.

Rangers Scratch Carcillo In Game 5

News: With J.T. Miller in, Daniel Carcillo will serve as a healthy scratch in Game 5 against the Flyers.
Analysis: After scoring a goal in Game 3, Daniel Carcillo managed just one shot on net and two penalty minutes with similar ice time in Game 4. Depending on how JT Miller performs in the high-pressure circumstances, there's a chance Ontario native gets back in the fold before this series ends.

Night Of Redemption For Rangers' Carcillo

News: Daniel Carcillo netted a third period goal in a Game 3, 4-1 defeat of Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Analysis: Although the goal only padded a late-lead, after serving as a healthy scratch in the team's first two contests with the feisty Flyers, head coach Alain Vigneault decided to fight fire with fire, sitting Jesper Fast and inserting Daniel Carcillo. More than just the playoff win, Carcillo burns his former employer Philadelphia giving him 12 points (five goals) through 37 career-playoff games.

Rangers' Carcillo Scores Rare Goal

News: Daniel Carcillo scored his third goal as a Ranger -- his fourth of the season -- in Tuesday's victory over the Canucks.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo hadn't recorded any points since since way back on Jan. 29, but has been a moderate PIM contributor, with 24 of those between his last two goals.

Carcillo To Play On Rangers' First Line?

News: There's a 75-percent chance Daniel Carcillo (flu) will not only dress for team's tilt in Edmonton, but that he'll play on the team's first line with Derek Stepan and Rick Nash, reports Andrew Gross of The Bergen Record.
Analysis: For a guy who has not dressed in four games, talk about your change of fortune. With Chris Kreider (wrist) expected to be out at least a month and Marty St. Louis going back to the team's second line, it appears head coach Alain Vigneault is toying with his combinations. If Daniel Carcillo's role of guard dog has a good impact, his value in deeper leagues could increase, but we wouldn't count on it.

Rangers' Carcillo (Illness) Out Friday

News: Daniel Carcillo (illness) will not play in Friday's game against the Flames, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo will miss a third consecutive game due to the illness that's bothered a number of Rangers over the last couple weeks. He's a potential scratch even when healthy, and his four points in 52 games haven't done much for fantasy owners. Carcillo does have 98 PIM, and two of his goals were of the game-winning variety.

Rangers' Carcillo Misses Morning Skate

News: Daniel Carcillo missed Wednesday's morning skate with flu-like symptoms, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: The flu bug has been travelling around the Rangers locker room lately, and at sounds like Daniel Carcillo is the latest victim. There's still a chance he could be in the lineup Wednesday night against the Flyers, but the situation doesn't look promising at this point.

Carcillo: Quiet Game In Rangers' Win

News: Daniel Carcillo logged two penalty minutes and a shot on goal in just under eight minutes of ice time of Friday's win over Carolina.
Analysis: It's the first game in nine contests (22 hits) that Daniel Carcillo has not registered a hit. Originally acquired from Los Angeles in early January to fill the grinder role while Derek Dorsett healed from a broken leg, the 29-year-old certainly provided grit. Now that Dorsett is healthy and Mats Zuccarello is back, the team's depth chart is beginning to tighten and Carcillo is one of several forwards is in danger of watching from the press box.

Rangers' Carcillo Nets Goal

News: Daniel Carcillo netted his third goal of the season in Wednesday's game against the Islanders at Yankee Stadium.
Analysis: Daniel Carcillo, acquired earlier in January from the Kings, scored his second goal as a member of the Rangers. In a low-scoring defensive battle, the physical forward broke through and scored in the third period, which ended up being the game-winner for the Rangers on Wednesday.
