Rangers' Klein Tallies Two Points

News: Kevin Klein registered an assist and collected the game-winning goal in Monday's 6-5 win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Kevin Klein is playing his best hockey of the season as he extended his point streak to five straight, including back-to-back contests with multiple points. The blueliner has already set a new career high with 25 points and ranks tied for ninth in the league with a plus-22 rating.

Rangers' Klein Pushes Assist Streak To Four

News: Kevin Klein tallied two assists in Saturday's win over the Coyotes, bringing his total up to six over the last four games.
Analysis: Kevin Klein now has 23 points on the season, besting his previous career best established in 2011-12. His offensive emergence this season has been quite the surprise, as he now slots in ahead of Ryan McDonagh as the Rangers' top scorer from the blue line. There's certainly a place for Klein in deeper leagues, but his modest career track record suggests we've already seen the pinnacle of his scoring abilities.

Assists Still Coming In For Rangers' Klein

News: Kevin Klein picked up his fourth assist in five games in Thursday's win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Kevin Klein has had a few scoring spurts this season, but has generally been unable to sustain consistent production for more than a few games. It's still been enough for Klein to tie his previous season best of 21 points, though it's probably worthwhile to fade him for the rest of the season. He's ridden a 12.7 percent shooting rate -- nearly eight points higher than his career mark -- to eight goals on the season. He had scored nine goals over his previous three seasons combined.

Rangers' Klein Approaching Career Season

News: Kevin Klein busted his five-game point drought with an assist in Wednesday's win over the Bruins.
Analysis: Now this is the Kevin Klein most fantasy players have come to know over the years. Despite his recent dip in offensive contributions, Klein (18 points in 48 games) is second among NHL defenseman with a plus-20 rating and is approaching his career high of 21 points, set with the Predators in the 2011-12 campaign.

Rangers' Klein Surpassing Expectations.

News: Kevin Klein logged an assist and a plus-1 rating in Sunday's victory over Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Here he goes again folks, everytime you think he'll fade into fantasy irrelevance, he pops back up. That's a point in each of his last two tilts. It what has to be his most fantastic fantasy production season, the 30-year-old just keeps surpassing expectations. Having already doubled his career high in goals scored with eight, Kevin Klein, who has 17 points in 42 games, is now zooming in on shattering his career-high 21-point campaign with Nashville in 2011-12.

Klein Doing It All For Rangers

News: Kevin Klein scored his eighth goal of the year and chipped in four blocks and five hits Thursday in a 4-3 win over the Kings.
Analysis: He doesn't play a lot of minutes -- less than 16 in this one -- and yet Kevin Klein seems to constantly be in the middle of things for the Rangers. He's rolling along with a four-game point streak, and his improved offensive touch combined with his terrific plus-minus and defensive stats adds up to a legit asset for deeper formats.

Rangers' Klein Gets Assist In Win

News: Kevin Klein recorded an assist and finished plus-2 in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Kevin Klein's offense hasn't quite dried up just yet, as he's now picked up assists in back-to-back contests. Even so, it's probably best to peg him for a regression the rest of the season. Much of his value has been built on his career-high seven goals, which have come on a sky-high 17.9 percent shooting rate.

Rangers' Klein Set To Play Saturday

News: Kevin Klein (ear) will be in the lineup Saturday against the Canucks, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein needed a portion of his ear to being reattached with stitches during Monday's game, but it didn't stop him from reentering the contest and scoring the game-winning goal. He would undergo plastic surgery on the ear after the game, and now that everything appears to be normal, he'll suit up again Saturday. Such is the life of a hockey player.

Rangers' Klein (Ear) Gets Stitches Monday

News: Kevin Klein needed 13-14 stitches to reattach a portion of his ear after Monday's game against the Penguins, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein seemed in good spirits after Monday's game and doesn't appear to be in any danger of missing the Rangers' upcoming game against the Canucks on Saturday. Despite suffering the gruesome injury off a high-stick, he managed to spend just under 19 minutes on the ice Monday.

Rangers' Klein Records Two Helpers In Win

News: Kevin Klein notched two assists, seven hits and three blocked shots in a 5-2 win over the Flyers on Saturday.
Analysis: Since coming over from Nashville, Kevin Klein has steadily become one of Alain Vigneault's most trusted defenders and had another monster game against Philadelphia to help his cause. Though he's known to be a defensive defenseman, Klein is pitching in all areas of the game. His seven hits and three blocked shots were both team highs. However, his fantasy value remains minimal due to his relatively low production compared to his more offensively inclined peers. Klein now has eight points in 22 games this year.

Rangers' Klein To Play Wednesday

News: Kevin Klein (ankle) appears set to play Wednesday against the Red Wings, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein looked like a full participant during the Rangers' morning skate and didn't stick on the ice for extra work with the expected healthy scratches, eliminating most of the concern that the bruised foot would knock him out for another game. Though Klein is not a top-notch blueliner by any means, his availability is a much-needed development for the Rangers, who will be without John Moore (suspension), Dan Boyle (hand) and Ryan McDonagh (shoulder) on Wednesday.

Rangers' Klein Still Ailing

News: Kevin Klein (foot) is not expected to be available for Wednesday's tilt with the Red Wings, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein is still experiencing some swelling in his foot, and won't be reevaluated for a few more days, so there's a good chance he won't be back until sometime next week.

Rangers' Klein (Ankle) Out Monday

News: Kevin Klein (ankle) has swelling in his foot and will not play Monday.
Analysis: Kevin Klein will likely be evaluated once the swelling goes down, but the fact that it is still pretty swollen is not a good sign. He will miss Monday at a minimum, but could be out longer than that.

Rangers' Klein Spotted On Crutches

News: Kevin Klein (ankle) was spotted on crutches, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein was hurt after blocking a shot Saturday, and the crutches are likely a result of that injury. His foot was not in an ankle or boot at all, which may indicate that the injury is not as serious as crutches may indicate. His next chance to return will be Monday against the Blues, but he will likely be questionable for that game.

Rangers' Klein Suffers Ankle Injury

News: Kevin Klein left Saturday's game with an ankle injury after being hit with a puck, according to the MSG Network game broadcast.
Analysis: The defensive-minded Kevin Klein was hurt blocking a shot. The team has to be hoping it's nothing major, as New York's blue-line corps has been hit hard by injuries in the early going.

Rangers' Klein Leaves Game With Injury

News: Kevin Klein left Saturday's game with an injury, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Fellow defenseman Ryan McDonagh also left Saturday's game with an injury, leaving the Rangers with just four defensemen dressed. There's no update on the exact nature of Kevin Klein's injury at this point.

Rangers' Klein Heating Up?

News: Kevin Klein registered a goal and an assist in Monday's 5-4 win over Minnesota.
Analysis: The tally came on an impressive slapper from the blue line, an absolute rocket past a screened Darcy Kuemper. Kevin Klein, who has never been known for overwhelming offensive production, now has two goals and three points in his last two games. With John Moore possibly headed for a modest suspension, Klein could be considered for the team's second power-play unit, but either way, he's not likely to continue this offensive outburst, so owners in most formats will want to continue monitoring from afar.

Rangers' Klein Pots OT Winner

News: Kevin Klein's first goal of the year was the game-winner in overtime Tuesday against the Devils.
Analysis: The first goal of the year for a Rangers blueliner, it was also the first point of the season for the stay-at-home Kevin Klein, who had Chris Kreider leave a perfect drop pass for him in the high slot, creating a wide-open chance that he converted. Don't expect Klein to produce offense often, but he's shown that he can step up into the play here and there.

Rangers' Klein Practices

News: Kevin Klein (face) practiced with the team Monday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein left Sunday's game after being hit in the face by a puck, and required stitches to fix the injury. He returned to practice Monday, though, and should be available for Tuesday's matchup with the Devils.

Rangers' Klein Receives Stitches For Facial Injury

News: Kevin Klein received stitches on his chin after being struck by a puck in Sunday's game against the Sharks, Jim Cerny of the Rangers' official website reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein played most of the game before suffering the injury late in the third period. He is considered day-to-day, so it remains to be seen if he will be available for the Rangers' next game Tuesday.

Klein's Role Unchanged With Rangers

News: Kevin Klein registered four points and plus-7 rating in 25 postseason games.
Analysis: The 29-year-old is a mostly durable third-pairing blueliner with a club-friendly ($2.9 million) deal already in place over the next three seasons. Kevin Klein's role with the Rangers was similar (though with less ice time) to the one he had in Nashville before being traded. He totaled two goals, eight assists and a plus-11 rating in 55 games (including the postseason) with the Rangers.

Klein Contributing To Rangers' Playoff Push

News: Kevin Klein logged an assist during Sunday's 3-1 win over Pittsburgh in Game 6.
Analysis: That's two points in as many games and while it's not likely for the sixth defenseman to sustain his recent offensive contributions, it's clear his trade to the Blueshirts will slightly increase his fantasy value heading into next year's draft.

Klein Solidifying Rangers' Third Pair

News: Kevin Klein registered four hits and two blocked shots in Thursday's 4-1 win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: As the new guy on New York's point, Kevin Klein logged just over 16 minutes in his Blueshirts' playoff debut. Considering he's not likely to serve on the team's power play, Klein is doing well flying under the radar and solidifying the defense. While he'll never bring home the bacon offensively, prior to being traded Klein had registered nine points (three goals) in 28 career playoff games for Nashville.

Klein Nets First Goal With Rangers

News: Kevin Klein scored his first goal -- and point -- as a Ranger in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Carolina.
Analysis: Kevin Klein had gone scoreless over 13 games since being traded to New York, and he had only three points in 47 games with Nashville before that. Needless to say, don't get too excited about this one.

Rangers' Klein Familiar With Blackhawks

News: Kevin Klein has yet to register a point in seven games with his new team.
Analysis: This should come as no surprise as the the 29-year-old is known more for his defense first approach. Kevin Klein is likely to continue logging third-pairing minutes with John Moore in the team's first game back from the Olympic break on Thursday against Chicago. Klein has three goals and eight assists through 33 career games against his former division rival Blackhawks.
