Rangers' Klein Assists Twice In Game 4 Win

News: Kevin Klein dished out two helpers, went plus-2, collected two PIM, blocked two shots and laid four hits in Friday's Game 4 victory over the Lightning.
Analysis: That's a lot of work for just 17:43 on the ice. It's Kevin Klein's first multi-point game of these playoffs, which started on a delay for him due to a broken arm. We've yet to see Klein find twine in the postseason after he did so nine times in 65 regular-season games, but he's been getting involved with the offense regularly, so it wouldn't be a surprise if the veteran were to find his way onto the scoresheet again soon.

Rangers' Klein Notches Assist In Game 6

News: Kevin Klein assisted on Chris Kreider's first goal of the game in Sunday's Game 6 victory over the Rangers.
Analysis: Kevin Klein missed the Rangers' entire first-round series with the Penguins while recovering from a broken left arm, but has skated 18-plus minutes in each of the team's six second-round contests. Sunday's assist marked his first point of the postseason.

Rangers Activate Klein From IR

News: Kevin Klein (arm) has been activated from IR and will return to the lineup for Thursday's Game 1 of the Rangers' second-round series with the Capitals.
Analysis: Kevin Klein has missed the Rangers' previous 21 games dating back to the regular season, but after he was able to resume practicing this week, it looks like the team will now have its blue line back at full strength. The 30-year-old, who posted a career-best nine goals, 26 points, and plus-24 rating over 65 games, will likely skate next to Keith Yandle on the Rangers' third defensive pairing.

Rangers' Klein Poised To Return

News: Kevin Klein (arm) said that he is ready to go in advance of the second round of the NHL playoffs.
Analysis: The Rangers still list Kevin Klein on IR, but in the absence of any setbacks, he'll be activated before Game 1 of the team's second-round playoff series, against an opponent that has yet to be determined.

Rangers' Klein (Arm) Out For Game 5

News: Kevin Klein (arm) will not play in Friday's Game 5 against the Penguins, Pat Leonard of the NY Daily News reports.
Analysis: Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said Thursday that Kevin Klein had a 50-50 chance to return for Friday's game, but it now appears the veteran blueliner will either target Game 6 or the next series.

Rangers' Klein '50-50' For Game 5

News: Coach Alain Vigneault indicated that Kevin Klein (arm) is "50-50" for Friday's Game 5 against the Penguins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein is inching toward a return, but given that he was sore after Wednesday's morning skate and didn't practice Thursday, he's far from a lock to return to action Friday.

Rangers' Klein Out For Game 4, But Close To Return

News: Kevin Klein (arm) won't return to the lineup for Wednesday's Game 4 against the Penguins, NHL.com's Dan Rosen reports.
Analysis: While Kevin Klein will sit out a 20th consecutive contest with the injury, it appears he's very close to a return, which could come at some point during the first-round series. He took the ice for Wednesday's morning skate and was taking slap shots with the Rangers' expected scratches after the session, a sign his arm is healing well.

Rangers' Klein Still Out

News: Kevin Klein (arm) will not play Monday against the Penguins, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein is on the the road with the Rangers, who also take on the Penguins in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, so at the moment at least, the blueliner can't be ruled out for that contest.

Rangers' Klein (Arm) Skates Saturday

News: Kevin Klein (arm) participated in the Rangers' optional morning skate on Saturday, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein has already been ruled out of Saturday's Game 2. Head coach Alain Vigneault has stated that Klein will need to log at least one full practice before returning to game action, so the fact that he was able to return to the ice on Saturday, albeit in a limited fashion, is certainly promising in that regard. His next chance to play will come on Monday.

Rangers' Klein (Arm) Not At Practice

News: Kevin Klein (arm) was not at practice Friday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports. He will not play in Saturday's Game 2 and is yet to be cleared to practice with the team.
Analysis: Kevin Klein is still recovering from a broken arm, and he remains day-to-day. He's been ruled out for Saturday's Game 2, and he'll remain on the injured list for the time being. The hope is that he'll be able to return sometime during this first-round series.

Rangers' Klein Remains Out

News: Kevin Klein (arm) remains sidelined in advance of Thursday's playoff opener against the Penguins, the Rangers' official site reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein, who missed the final 16 games of the Rangers' regular season slate, did not practice Wednesday and remains day-to-day, according to coach Alain Vigneault. Filling in for Klein in Game 1, at a minimum, will be Matt Hunwick.

Rangers' Klein Likely Out Thursday

News: Kevin Klein (arm) is not expected to play in Thursday's playoff opener against the Penguins, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Coach Alain Vigneault indicated that in order for Kevin Klein to play on Thursday, the defender would have to practice Wednesday, something that Vigneault doesn't expect to occur. "He's day to day," Vigneault said Tuesday. "I think everyone knows a broken bone takes time to heal. We anticipated four to six (weeks). We're in that range. He's been skating on his own but he's not quite ready to yet to join the team."

Rangers' Klein Remains Sidelined

News: Kevin Klein (arm) did not practice Tuesday, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein's absence from practice Tuesday clouds his availability for Thursday's playoff opener against the Penguins. The blueliner has not suited up for the Rangers since breaking his arm on March 11.

Rangers' Klein Targets Return In Playoff Opener

News: Kevin Klein (broken left arm) will not play in either of the Rangers' next two games, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: That ends Kevin Klein's regular season, but what is notable for those in playoff formats is that the report indicates that the blueliner is expected to be back in the Rangers' lineup for the start of the postseason. "I would say my expectations are he'd be ready for the start of the playoffs," coach Alain Vigneault relayed Thursday with regard to Klein's status. "That's what we're banking on right now."

Rangers' Klein Checks Out Fine After X-Rays

News: Coach Alain Vigneault said Tuesday that Kevin Klein's arm checked out "fine" during a recent X-ray, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein skated as an extra at the Rangers' morning skate, but still appeared to be passing the puck around softly due to the injury. While the positive reports from the X-rays suggest he hasn't suffered some kind of setback, Klein doesn't appear in line for a return before the regular season ends Saturday. The Rangers are likely content to bring him along slowly in anticipation of having him back at 100 percent at some point during the first round of the playoffs.

Rangers' Klein Resumes Skating

News: Kevin Klein (arm) was on the ice for a solo skate prior to Saturday's morning session, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein's presence on the ice Saturday was more of a measure to stay conditioned, as he has yet to receive clearance to resume stick-handling activities. It doesn't seem likely at this stage that he'll be ready to play in time for the team's final regular-season match next Saturday against the Capitals. Klein will meet will doctors next week for follow-up X-rays on his broken arm, which should provide more clarity on a potential return date.

Rangers' Klein Moved To IR

News: Kevin Klein (arm) was placed on injured reserve over the weekend.
Analysis: Kevin Klein was moved to injured reserve to facilitate the call-up of Chris Summers ahead of Sunday's loss to the Capitals. The blueliner seems to be making progress with his recovery from the injury, but the Rangers don't plan on having him available during their two-game road trip that begins Tuesday in Winnipeg.

Rangers' Klein Remains Sidelined

News: Kevin Klein (upper body) will not travel on the Rangers' upcoming two-game road trip.
Analysis: The report does not include a timetable for the return of Kevin Klein, who last suited up on March 11, but it does at least confirm that the blueliner won't play before April 4, when the Rangers take on New Jersey at home.

Rangers' Klein Out 3-To-4 Weeks

News: The Rangers announced Thursday that Kevin Klein would miss the next 3-to-4 weeks with an upper-body injury, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Kevin Klein sustained the injury at the very end of Wednesday's game against the Capitals, when Alex Ovechkin's last-second shot attempt struck Klein's left arm. After going in for X-rays Thursday, the blueliner was determined to have a significant injury, and will now be at risk of missing the remainder of the regular season, which concludes Apr. 11. With a career-best nine goals, 26 points, and plus-24 rating this season, Klein has helped make up for the lack of production the Rangers have received from free-agent acquisition Dan Boyle, while giving the team a steady veteran presence on its third pairing. Matt Hunwick is expected to see the largest jump in ice time the next few weeks before Klein likely reclaims his lineup spot prior to the playoffs.

Rangers' Klein Will Undergo X-Rays Wednesday

News: Kevin Klein will undergo X-rays Wednesday after being struck on the left arm by a shot late in Wednesday's victory over the Capitals, Newsday's Steve Zipay reports.
Analysis: The extent of Kevin Klein's injury won't be known until after he is examined by team doctors, but expect an update on his status leading up to the Rangers' next game Saturday in Buffalo.

Rangers' Klein Tallies Two Points

News: Kevin Klein registered an assist and collected the game-winning goal in Monday's 6-5 win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Kevin Klein is playing his best hockey of the season as he extended his point streak to five straight, including back-to-back contests with multiple points. The blueliner has already set a new career high with 25 points and ranks tied for ninth in the league with a plus-22 rating.

Rangers' Klein Pushes Assist Streak To Four

News: Kevin Klein tallied two assists in Saturday's win over the Coyotes, bringing his total up to six over the last four games.
Analysis: Kevin Klein now has 23 points on the season, besting his previous career best established in 2011-12. His offensive emergence this season has been quite the surprise, as he now slots in ahead of Ryan McDonagh as the Rangers' top scorer from the blue line. There's certainly a place for Klein in deeper leagues, but his modest career track record suggests we've already seen the pinnacle of his scoring abilities.

Assists Still Coming In For Rangers' Klein

News: Kevin Klein picked up his fourth assist in five games in Thursday's win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Kevin Klein has had a few scoring spurts this season, but has generally been unable to sustain consistent production for more than a few games. It's still been enough for Klein to tie his previous season best of 21 points, though it's probably worthwhile to fade him for the rest of the season. He's ridden a 12.7 percent shooting rate -- nearly eight points higher than his career mark -- to eight goals on the season. He had scored nine goals over his previous three seasons combined.

News: Kevin Klein logged an assist and a plus-1 rating in Sunday's victory over Pittsburgh.

It what has to be his most fantastic fantasy production season, the 30-year-old just keeps surpassing expectations.
