Preds' Weber Dealing With Dislocated Kneecap

News: Shea Weber suffered a dislocated kneecap in the Preds' first-round series against the Blackhawks and will require 4-to-6 weeks of recovery time.
Analysis: Shea Weber, who missed the final four games of the series, has already undergone a procedure to address the issue and should be back to full health by midsummer. The blueliner saw his point total dip from 56 the season prior to 45 in 2014-15, but even with that minor regression, he still finished as one of the league's top-scoring defensemen. He'll turn 30 in August and probably still has a few more years left at the tail end of his prime.

Preds' Weber Out For Rest Of First Round

News: Shea Weber (lower body) will miss the rest of Nashville's opening-round series against the Blackhawks, but he did not suffer an ACL injury, Kristopher Martel of FOX Sports reports.
Analysis: It's not a good sign for Shea Weber's future playoff availability that he's already being ruled out for the rest of the current series, but there's a pretty good chance this won't matter, as the Preds need to win two straight games against the Blackhawks while playing without their superstar blueliner. Given this isn't an ACL injury, Weber will likely be alright for the beginning of next season, even if he doesn't make it back for a possible second-round series.

Preds' Weber Out For Game 5

News: Shea Weber (lower body) will miss Thursday's Game 5 matchup with the Blackhawks, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber appeared to be doubtful heading into the matchup, so it's not too surprising that he won't go Thursday. Should the series extend to Game 6, his next chance to return would be Saturday for that contest.

Preds' Weber Appears Doubtful For Game 5

News: Shea Weber (lower body) wasn't on the ice for Thursday's morning skate and appears doubtful for Game 5 against the Blackhawks, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Coach Peter Laviolette declined to confirm Shea Weber's status one way or the other after the skate, but considering that the blueliner hasn't been spotted on the ice since leaving Game 2 with an injury, he looks like a long shot to be available. Victor Bartley once again appears poised to assume Weber's spot in the lineup.

Preds' Weber Day-To-Day

News: Shea Weber (lower body) remains day-to-day, according to Brooks Bratten of NHL.com.
Analysis: Per the report, coach Peter Laviolette is unsure about Shea Weber's status for Thursday's game against Chicago, which infers that there's at least some chance that the blueliner could suit up for the contest.

Preds' Weber (Lower Body) Won't Travel With Team

News: Shea Weber will not make the trip to Chicago with the Predators, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: It's a huge blow to the Predators, who will be without Shea Weber for at least Games 3 and 4 of their playoff series against the Blackhawks. Weber's next chance to return to Nashville's lineup will come on Saturday, however, the likelihood of that occurring is up in the air at this point in time.

Preds' Weber (Undisclosed) Leaves Game With Injury

News: Shea Weber was forced out of Friday's Game 2 against the Blackhawks with an undisclosed injury, Brooks Bratten of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: At this point in time the severity of Shea Weber's ailment remains unclear, as the team has yet to provide an update on his status. His availability for Game 3 of the Predators' playoff series with the Blackhawks will become clearer as soon as Nashville sheds some light on the nature of Weber's injury.

Preds' Weber Set To Play In Game 1

News: Shea Weber (lower body) is expected to return to the lineup for Wednesday's Game 1 against the Blackhawks, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber resumed practicing Monday after missing the Predators' final regular-season game due to injury. It looks as though he's checked out fine the last couple days, which is enough to lock him into the lineup for Wednesday's playoff opener. Weber saw both his goal (15) and assist (30) totals this season decline from their marks from a year earlier, but he's still very clearly one of the top two-way blueliners in the game.

Preds' Weber Back At Practice

News: Shea Weber (lower body) practiced Monday, The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber sat out Saturday's game against the Stars, but his return to practice Monday puts him on track to be a go for Wednesday's playoff opener against Chicago.

Preds' Weber Likely To Practice Monday

News: Shea Weber (lower body) is likely to practice Monday, according to Brooks Bratten of NHL.com.
Analysis: Shea Weber missed Saturday's game against the Stars, but his expected return to practice Monday suggests that the blueliner should be fine for Wednesday's playoff opener against Chicago.

Preds' Weber To Miss Saturday's Finale

News: Shea Weber will miss Saturday's game against the Stars due to a lower-body injury, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber missed three games with a lower-body injury a little over a week ago, but had played in each of the Preds' last three contests, tallying no points despite putting 15 shots on goal. It doesn't appear that he's suffered a setback with the injury; instead, it's likely just the case where the team wanted to give him a little more maintenance time with the playoff approaching. Weber will be rested along with Cody Franson (upper body), Roman Josi (lower body), and Mike Fisher (lower body) for Saturday's relatively meaningless regular-season finale.

Preds' Weber Likely Back In Saturday

News: Shea Weber (lower body) is slated to return to the lineup Saturday against the Stars, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber was able to practice the previous two days without any complications and reclaimed his usual post on the first defensive pairing during Saturday's morning skate, signaling that he's good to go after a three-game absence. It's probably advisable to activate Weber right away, since he'll likely be a better option for Saturday's slate than any other blueliners fantasy owners might have at their disposal.

Preds' Weber Practices Thursday

News: Shea Weber (lower body) practiced with the Oilers on Thursday.
Analysis: Coach Peter Laviolette was pleased with how Shea Weber performed during the session, but was unwilling to declare the defenseman as good to go for Saturday's game against the Stars. With another positive practice Friday, Weber could be on the cusp of returning to the lineup after a three-game absence.

Preds' Weber Out Until At Least Saturday

News: GM David Poile said Tuesday that Shea Weber (lower body) will be out until at least Saturday's game against the Stars, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: As a result, Shea Weber will his third straight game when the Predators host the Canucks on Tuesday, but Poile seemed highly confident that the blueliner would be fully healthy by the time the postseason arrives. Weber has yet to resume skating since suffering the injury, so it's far from guaranteed at this time that he'll be able to play Saturday.

Preds' Weber Day-To-Day

News: Shea Weber (lower body) did not skate with his teammates Tuesday morning.
Analysis: Shea Weber thus remains in the day-to-day category as Tuesday night's game against the Canucks approaches.

Preds' Weber Still Out

News: Shea Weber (lower body) won't play Sunday against Calgary, Willy Daunic of ESPN Nashville reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber -- who also missed Saturday's game against the Caps -- thus remains day-to-day in advance of Tuesday's game against the Canucks.

Predators' Weber Day-To-Day

News: Shea Weber (lower body) is considered day-to-day and will be re-evaluated prior to Sunday's game against Calgary, The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber was unable to take the ice Saturday against Washington due to a lower body injury. Anton Volchenkov filled in for Weber on Saturday and will likely do so again Sunday if Weber is unable to go.

Preds' Weber Ruled Out Saturday With Injury

News: Shea Weber will not play Saturday against the Capitals due to a lower-body injury, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: There wasn't any indication prior to pregame warmups that Shea Weber was nursing an injury, but it looks like the ailment is serious enough to bump him from the lineup for the first time all season. The Predators are listing Weber as day-to-day, so it remains uncertain if he'll be able to return to action Sunday against the Flames. Weber, who has 15 goals, 45 points, and a plus-15 rating over 75 contests, will be replaced Saturday by Anton Volchenkov, who functions mostly as a stay-at-home defenseman.

Preds' Weber Assists In Victory

News: Shea Weber picked up an assist and recorded four shots on goal in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Shea Weber hasn't been immune to the Predators' collective struggles over the last few weeks, as he's managed to provide only one goal and two assists over his last 16 games. The blueliner's early-season excellence still keeps his overall numbers strong (15 goals, 45 points, plus-15 over 73 games) and should assure him of a regular spot in most fantasy lineups, but Weber will be a less attractive play in daily leagues until he starts rolling again.

Preds' Weber Ends Five-Game Pointless Drought

News: Shea Weber blasted home his 15th goal of the season in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Red Wings. He also fired off a whopping nine shots on goal for the second time in three games, and spent over half the contest on the ice (30:15).
Analysis: With 23 shots in the last three games, Shea Weber has been a one-man shooting gallery on Nashville's blue line, so it was nice to see the captain rewarded on an absolute bomb of a one-timer in the second period. He and partner Roman Josi have been lighting it up as arguably the best d-pair in the league, combining for 89 points, 340 SOG, a silly plus-39 rating and 86 PIM. Weber is also seventh among Western Conference d-men with 136 hits, so he provides value in all categories and has been as-advertised as a bonafide fantasy stud this season.

Preds' Weber Racks Secondary Stats In Win

News: Shea Weber fired a game-high nine shots on goal, went plus-2 and was hit with 17 penalty minutes Tuesday against the Avalanche.
Analysis: That's about as well as you can perform without getting on the scoresheet. He's gone scoreless in four consecutive games, but with how active he looked in this one, it's just a matter of time 'til he starts racking up points again.

Two More Points For Preds' Weber

News: Shea Weber picked up a goal and an assist Tuesday in a 5-1 rout of the Sharks.
Analysis: That's a three-game point streak for Shea Weber now, and he's got two goals, four assists and a plus-4 rating in that span. He's now moved into a tie for fourth in points among blueliners. There are few finer fantasy assets.

Weber Looks Healthy, Leading Preds To Win

News: Shea Weber, who'd been a game-time call due to an illness, factored into all three Nashville goals Thursday, netting a power-play goal and two assists (one on the man advantage). He also went plus-1 with a pair of penalty minutes.
Analysis: Well, apparently he wasn't feeling too sick after all. Shea Weber had been held off the scoresheet in two straight games, but he got right back at it in this one. As usual, he's posting one of the best, most well-rounded fantasy lines among defensemen.

Predators' Weber To Play Through Illness Thursday

News: Shea Weber (illness) is not listed among the Predators' scratches, indicating he will play Thursday against the Jets, Kristopher Martel of FOX Sports reports.
Analysis: It game down to the wire, but it looks like Shea Weber is feeling well enough to suit up Thursday. Although he might be running at less than full strength Thursday, having Weber in any capacity is a better alternative for the Predators than having no Weber at all. Many of his fantasy owners undoubtedly feel the same way.

Preds' Weber On Ice For Warmups

News: Shea Weber (illness) is on the ice for pregame warmups, but is still uncertain to play Thursday against the Jets, Willy Daunic of ESPN Radio Nashville 102.5 The Game reports.
Analysis: It was announced about an hour prior to Thursday's game that Shea Weber was feeling ill and would be unlikely to suit up against the Jets, but he'll see how he feels while skating before a decision on his status is made. He looks like a true game-time decision, as the Predators have seventh defenseman Taylor Aronson warming up as well in the event Weber is scratched.
