Preds' Weber Still Out

News: Shea Weber (lower body) won't play Sunday against Calgary, Willy Daunic of ESPN Nashville reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber -- who also missed Saturday's game against the Caps -- thus remains day-to-day in advance of Tuesday's game against the Canucks.

Predators' Weber Day-To-Day

News: Shea Weber (lower body) is considered day-to-day and will be re-evaluated prior to Sunday's game against Calgary, The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber was unable to take the ice Saturday against Washington due to a lower body injury. Anton Volchenkov filled in for Weber on Saturday and will likely do so again Sunday if Weber is unable to go.

Preds' Weber Ruled Out Saturday With Injury

News: Shea Weber will not play Saturday against the Capitals due to a lower-body injury, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: There wasn't any indication prior to pregame warmups that Shea Weber was nursing an injury, but it looks like the ailment is serious enough to bump him from the lineup for the first time all season. The Predators are listing Weber as day-to-day, so it remains uncertain if he'll be able to return to action Sunday against the Flames. Weber, who has 15 goals, 45 points, and a plus-15 rating over 75 contests, will be replaced Saturday by Anton Volchenkov, who functions mostly as a stay-at-home defenseman.

Preds' Weber Assists In Victory

News: Shea Weber picked up an assist and recorded four shots on goal in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Shea Weber hasn't been immune to the Predators' collective struggles over the last few weeks, as he's managed to provide only one goal and two assists over his last 16 games. The blueliner's early-season excellence still keeps his overall numbers strong (15 goals, 45 points, plus-15 over 73 games) and should assure him of a regular spot in most fantasy lineups, but Weber will be a less attractive play in daily leagues until he starts rolling again.

Preds' Weber Ends Five-Game Pointless Drought

News: Shea Weber blasted home his 15th goal of the season in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Red Wings. He also fired off a whopping nine shots on goal for the second time in three games, and spent over half the contest on the ice (30:15).
Analysis: With 23 shots in the last three games, Shea Weber has been a one-man shooting gallery on Nashville's blue line, so it was nice to see the captain rewarded on an absolute bomb of a one-timer in the second period. He and partner Roman Josi have been lighting it up as arguably the best d-pair in the league, combining for 89 points, 340 SOG, a silly plus-39 rating and 86 PIM. Weber is also seventh among Western Conference d-men with 136 hits, so he provides value in all categories and has been as-advertised as a bonafide fantasy stud this season.

Preds' Weber Racks Secondary Stats In Win

News: Shea Weber fired a game-high nine shots on goal, went plus-2 and was hit with 17 penalty minutes Tuesday against the Avalanche.
Analysis: That's about as well as you can perform without getting on the scoresheet. He's gone scoreless in four consecutive games, but with how active he looked in this one, it's just a matter of time 'til he starts racking up points again.

Two More Points For Preds' Weber

News: Shea Weber picked up a goal and an assist Tuesday in a 5-1 rout of the Sharks.
Analysis: That's a three-game point streak for Shea Weber now, and he's got two goals, four assists and a plus-4 rating in that span. He's now moved into a tie for fourth in points among blueliners. There are few finer fantasy assets.

Weber Looks Healthy, Leading Preds To Win

News: Shea Weber, who'd been a game-time call due to an illness, factored into all three Nashville goals Thursday, netting a power-play goal and two assists (one on the man advantage). He also went plus-1 with a pair of penalty minutes.
Analysis: Well, apparently he wasn't feeling too sick after all. Shea Weber had been held off the scoresheet in two straight games, but he got right back at it in this one. As usual, he's posting one of the best, most well-rounded fantasy lines among defensemen.

Predators' Weber To Play Through Illness Thursday

News: Shea Weber (illness) is not listed among the Predators' scratches, indicating he will play Thursday against the Jets, Kristopher Martel of FOX Sports reports.
Analysis: It game down to the wire, but it looks like Shea Weber is feeling well enough to suit up Thursday. Although he might be running at less than full strength Thursday, having Weber in any capacity is a better alternative for the Predators than having no Weber at all. Many of his fantasy owners undoubtedly feel the same way.

Preds' Weber On Ice For Warmups

News: Shea Weber (illness) is on the ice for pregame warmups, but is still uncertain to play Thursday against the Jets, Willy Daunic of ESPN Radio Nashville 102.5 The Game reports.
Analysis: It was announced about an hour prior to Thursday's game that Shea Weber was feeling ill and would be unlikely to suit up against the Jets, but he'll see how he feels while skating before a decision on his status is made. He looks like a true game-time decision, as the Predators have seventh defenseman Taylor Aronson warming up as well in the event Weber is scratched.

Preds' Weber Likely Out With Illness Thursday

News: Shea Weber is dealing with an illness and is not expected to play Thursday against the Jets, Tom Callahan of 94.9 FM The Game reports.
Analysis: Shea Weber was absent from Thursday's morning skate for what the Predators called "maintenance purposes," but it appears the team was concealing his illness. Taylor Aronson was recalled from AHL Milwaukee late in the afternoon, and appears poised to replace Weber in the lineup. The star blueliner, who has 12 goals, 24 assists, and a plus-17 rating, has suited up for all 54 of the Predators' games this season. Confirmation on Weber's expected absence should come during pregame warmups, but those in daily leagues who were planning on using the defenseman will want to begin exploring other options.

Preds' Weber Continues To Shine Post-Break

News: Shea Weber potted a power-play goal and delivered three hits, five blocked shots, and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Shea Weber has been surging since about mid-December, reinforcing his standing as one of fantasy hockey's elite blueliners. He's tallied five goals and 15 assists over his last 24 games.

Preds' Weber Exits Break With Two Helpers

News: Shea Weber fired six shots on goal and collected two assists -- including helping out on the overtime winner -- in Tuesday's victory over Colorado.
Analysis: The shot total matches his season high, and if Shea Weber keeps firing 'em on net, he'll surely snap his seven-game goalless streak in no time.

Preds' Weber Wins Hardest Shot Competition

News: Shea Weber won the Hardest Shot competition at the NHL All-Star Skills Competition in Columbus on Saturday.
Analysis: He fired the puck at 108.5 mph, just 0.3 mph off Zdeno Chara's record (2012). There were plenty of nods and murmurs among the other all stars, so perhaps this win will buy Shea Weber a few more lanes to the net for that shot. No-one will want to stand in front of one of those.

Preds' Weber Adds Assist Saturday

News: Shea Weber picked up a power-play assist and attempted five shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: The stud blueliner has cooled off a bit from his late December surge, but he's been his usual productive self in January, recording two goals and three assists while firing off 20 shots in eight games. An injury should be the only reason he ever comes out of your lineup.

Weber's Two Goals Power Preds To Win

News: Shea Weber opened the scoring Thursday against the Stars, then ended it 17 seconds into overtime with his second goal of the game and 10th of the year.
Analysis: There's that goal-scoring touch we've been waiting for. The markers have come in fits and starts for Shea Weber, but his 28 points and plus-14 rating in 40 games make him one of the league's top fantasy defenders, as usual. He stands a solid chance at achieving his third 20-goal season from the blue line.

Weber's Two Goals Lift Preds

News: Shea Weber opened the scoring Tuesday against the Blues and finished it with the game-winning shorthanded goal in the third period -- his seventh and eighth tallies of the year.
Analysis: While Shea Weber hadn't scored a goal in more than five weeks, he's been a regular in the assist column recently, averaging a helper per game over the prior eight contests coming in. Despite the inconsistent goal production, Weber has -- as usual -- been a reliable source of offense from the blue line.

Assists Piling Up For Preds' Weber

News: Shea Weber pocketed an assist and recorded six shot attempts in Saturday's victory over the Flyers.
Analysis: It took Shea Weber a while to get going this season, but he's been an absolute force on the offensive end for the last two weeks. He's recorded an assist in five straight contests, and a total of eight over his last seven games. Use him well.

Preds' Weber Dishes Out Two Assists

News: Shea Weber dished out a pair of assists in Saturday's win over the Wild.
Analysis: Shea Weber now has five points in his past three games, putting him at six goals and 14 assists in 31 games on the season. With a plus-14 rating, 86 shots on goal, and 26 PIM, Weber is once again proving to be one of the best fantasy defensman around. He needs to be in your lineup every night he is in action.

Preds' Weber Spins Out Two Points

News: Shea Weber handed out a pair of assists, took five shots on goal, went plus-2 and took a minor penalty in Thursday's 5-1 domination of Arizona.
Analysis: The fine night snapped a four-game scoreless stretch for Shea Weber, who nonetheless continues to be one of the finest offensive defensemen in the league. And with a plus-14 on the season currently, he's got a good chance to exceed his career-high plus-21 as long as Pekka Rinne keeps stopping nearly every shot that comes his way.

Preds' Weber Closes November On Strong Note

News: Shea Weber collected his ninth assist of the season - and third in as many games - during Saturday's 2-1 win over Columbus.
Analysis: After a somewhat slow start to the season, Shea Weber has been scorching hot of late, with two goals and seven assists in his last eight games. As we have all come to know, Weber is an elite NHL defenseman and top-tier fantasy play. As long as he is healthy, he should be in your fantasy lineup every time he hits the ice.

Preds' Weber Tallies Three Helpers

News: Shea Weber doubled his season assist total Tuesday, collecting three helpers and going plus-3 in a 9-2 demolition of the Leafs.
Analysis: The big defenseman's been producing goals, as expected, but had been struggling in the assist category until the last three games, during which he's scored a goal and assisted on four more.

Preds' Weber Pots Fifth Goal

News: Shea Weber scored his fifth goal of the year and added an assist on Roman Josi's power-play goal Thursday against the Blues.
Analysis: Unfortunately, it wasn't enough in a 4-3 loss. Shea Weber has been well off his typical scoring pace in the early going -- particularly in the assist category, as he collected just his third helper Thursday. His fantasy owners have to be hoping that Weber's first multi-point effort in more than a month indicates the start of a hot streak.

Preds' Weber Blasts Fourth Wednesday

News: Shea Weber scored his fourth goal of the season in Wednesday's road win over the Oilers.

Preds' Weber Bags Third Goal

News: Shea Weber registered a power-play goal in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: After struggling out of the gate a season earlier, Shea Weber has been hot from the get-go through the first five games of 2014-15, churning out four points, 15 shots and a plus-5 rating. If the 29-year-old Weber can uphold an offensive pace similar to what he's shown thus far, he'll shatter the career-best 56 points he finished with last season.
