Bruins' Bergeron Earns Selke Nomination

News: Patrice Bergeron is a finalist for the 2014-15 Frank J. Selke Trophy, which is awarded by the NHL annually "to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game."
Analysis: The other finalists are Chicago's Jonathan Toews and Anze Kopitar of the Kings, with the same trio as last season thus up for the award, which Patrice Bergeron earned for the second time in 2013-14. While Bergeron's plus-minus took a hit (from plus-38 last year to plus-2 this season), the dip was indicative of the team's issues as a whole rather than a downturn in Bergeron's play. En route to leading the B's with 55 points in 81 games, Bergeron also recorded an NHL-best 60.2 faceoff winning percentage in 2014-15.

Bruins' Bergeron Opens Thursday's Scoring

News: Patrice Bergeron opened the scoring in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Panthers.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron's tally gave the Bruins a leg up in the second period, but they were unable to sustain the momentum, ultimately being outscored by Florida, 3-1 in period three, in a game with huge playoff implications for the B's. As a result, the Bruins' chances of re-entering the postseason equation hinge on the Senators and/or the Penguins (if they don't clinch Friday) stumbling on Saturday. Through 80 games, Bergeron leads the Bruins with 55 points, though his plus-1 rating is well off last season's pace, when he recorded a plus-38 mark.

Bruins' Bergeron: Goal In Regulation And Shootout

News: Patrice Bergeron notched his 22nd goal of the season in regulation and then scored the game's only goal in the shootout in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Clutch. And that's just what Boston needs to stay in the playoff race. Patrice Bergeron now has 54 points on the season, but he hasn't had the same kind of solid, two-way season that we've come to expect. That's more about the team's overall play than his own, but it does impact his fantasy value.

Bruins' Bergeron Returns After Getting Stitches

News: Patrice Bergeron, who missed most of the second period of Thursday's 3-2 win over Detroit after getting cut by a stick to the face, wound up needing 20 stitches, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron, who returned to action at the start of the third period, ended up seeing 14:07 worth of ice time in the game. Upon his return to the ice on Thursday, Bergeron sported a full shield, which he indicated limited his vision. With that in mind, Bergeron hopes to return to using his standard half-shield Saturday against Toronto. Through 77 games, Bergeron leads the Bruins in scoring, with 53 points, while averaging 18:04 worth of ice time and winning face-offs at an impressive 60 percent clip.

Bruins' Bergeron: Still Streaking

News: Patrice Bergeron notched an assist in Saturday's win over the Rangers, extending his point streak to five games.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron has enjoyed two other scoring runs of the same length this season. The two-way center is poised to fall short of 62-point total he produced in 2013-14, but with 21 goals and 32 assists across 74 games, he certainly hasn't been a slouch.

Bruins' Bergeron Nets 20th Goal Of Season

News: Patrice Bergeron scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to Florida. The goal was his 20th of the season and his 50th point, too.
Analysis: Unfortunately, he was stymied by Roberto Luongo in the shootout. He does have a point in each of his last two games and both have come on the power play. But unless he fires up his game, Patrice Bergeron may deliver his lowest point totals (outside the lockout year) since 2009-10.

B's Bergeron Stays Hot In Win

News: Patrice Bergeron potted a goal in regulation and found net in the shootout to lift the Lightning to a victory Thursday.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron has been surging since the All-Star break, compiling eight goals and 16 points over 19 games while attempting three shot attempts per contest. The center is poised to fall a bit short of last season's 30 goals, but an uptick in his assist rate still makes another 60-point campaign attainable.

Bergeron Powers Bruins To Win

News: Patrice Bergeron generated a goal and assist and attempted six shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron finishes February with six goals and five assists, tying his highest point total for any other month of the season. The two-way center hasn't noticed much of a drop in scoring from a season earlier, but a sizable fallback in his plus/minus rating (plus-38 in 2013-14, plus-4 in 2014-15) has resulted in a slight decline in his overall fantasy value.

Bruins' Bergeron Collects Three Points

News: Patrice Bergeron tallied a goal and two assists -- one on the power play -- in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron's three point outing highlights what's been an incredibly impressive stretch as the 29-year-old has grabbed nine points in nine February contests. It's the third time he's reached three points in a game this season, and brings his total to 42 through 58 games to go along with a plus-3 rating.

Bruins' Bergeron Gets Goal In Win

News: Patrice Bergeron netted his 16th goal of the season in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Canucks. He also picked up two PIM and won 12 of his 16 faceoffs.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron has been on fire thus far in February, scoring a goal in all but one of the Bruins' five games. During that span, he's put 16 shots on net, or more than three per outing. The 29-year-old submitted a huge second half for the Bruins a season earlier, highlighted by a seven-game goal streak in March. Could he be headed for a similarly enormous finish yet again?

Bruins' Bergeron Scores In Loss

News: Patrice Bergeron tallied a goal in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron's production has dipped a bit lately, so it was nice to see his name on the score sheet Wednesday night. He now has 13 goals and 21 assists to go along with a plus-5 rating on the season.

Bruins' Bergeron Bags Power-Play Goal In Win

News: Patrice Bergeron bagged a power-play goal and went minus-2 in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Islanders. The center also won 14 of his 20 faceoffs.
Analysis: The Bruins' lone All-Star ended a three-game pointless skid with the tally late in the first period. The minor slump shouldn't be anything to worry about; Patrice Bergeron remains in line to surpass the 50-point mark for a fifth consecutive full season.

Bruins' Bergeron Scores Twice In Win

News: Patrice Bergeron tallied two goals in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Penguins.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron's second goal came in overtime, giving the center his third game winner of the season. He now has 10 goals and 20 assists to go along with a plus-7 rating in 40 games this year.

Bruins' Bergeron Back At Practice

News: Patrice Bergeron returned to practice Tuesday after being given a maintenance day on Monday.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron skated with Brad Marchand and Reilly Smith on Tuesday, and the B's top scorer appears good to go for Wednesday's game against the Penguins.

Bruins' Bergeron Gets Maintenance Day

News: Patrice Bergeron's absence from practice Monday was characterized by coach Claude Julien as a maintenance day.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron, who tallied the Bruins' lone goal in Sunday's shootout loss to the Hurricanes, slots in as the team's leading scorer, with 28 points through 39 games to date.

Bruins' Bergeron Misses Practice

News: Patrice Bergeron (unspecified issue) was not on the ice for Monday's practice.
Analysis: We'll circle back on Patrice Bergeron's status, though at this stage it's unclear if his absence is related to the issue that caused him to miss a game last Monday, or is maintenance-related.

Bruins' Bergeron Back In Action

News: Patrice Bergeron (undisclosed injury) saw 19:46 worth of ice time in his return to action in Wednesday's shootout loss to Toronto.
Analysis: Patrice Bergeron, who rejoined linemates Brad Marchand and Reilly Smith on Wednesday, took a team-high five shots in the game, while winding up with a minus-2 rating. With no reported setback in his return to action, the B's outstanding two-way pivot (who has 27 points in 37 games to date) looks safe to use in fantasy lineups moving forward.

News: Patrice Bergeron (undisclosed injury) is slated to play Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.

Bruins' Bergeron Day-To-Day

News: Though Patrice Bergeron (undisclosed injury) participated in practice Tuesday, his status for Wednesday's game against the Maple Leafs remains unclear, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: "I haven't been told that they are cleared to play, yet," coach Claude Julien noted Tuesday of Patrice Bergeron and Milan Lucic, who are both considered day-to-day. "They looked fairly good today and we'll reassess them [Wednesday] and the decision will come at some point." At this stage, with the Bruins not slated to hold a morning skate Wednesday, it's possible that Bergeron's status for the Toronto game may not be determined until pre-game warmups.

Bruins' Bergeron (Undisclosed) Practicing Tuesday

News: Patrice Bergeron (undisclosed) participated in Tuesday's practice, Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: After missing Munday's game against the Red Wings, Bergerom seemingly has some shot to return for Wednesday's matchup with the Maple Leafs. He can still be considered day-to-day.

Bruins' Bergeron Day-To-Day

News: Patrice Bergeron is day-to-day with an unspecified injury.
Analysis: Per csnne.com, Patrice Bergeron -- who did not practice Sunday -- left Saturday's loss to Columbus early in the third period with an undisclosed issue, which coach Claude Julien suggests is "very minor." As a result, the center's status for Monday's game against Detroit is uncertain at this stage.

Hot Streak Roars On For Bruins' Bergeron

News: Patrice Bergeron found the net on one of his five shot attempts in Saturday's 6-2 defeat to the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: The Bruins might have taken it on the chin Saturday night, but Patrice Bergeron at least managed to continue his impressive run of offensive production. He's collected five points over his last three games, firing off 13 shots during that span.
