Pens Sign Dupuis To One-Year, Two-Way Deal

News: Philippe Dupuis agreed to a one-year, two-way deal with the Penguins, the Toronto Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: Philippe Dupuis was waived by Toronto in January after recording zero points in 30 appearances with the Maple Leafs. The Penguins boast a much more talented offensive roster than the Maple Leafs, meaning Dupuis will likely spend most of the season in the AHL.

Toronto Places Dupuis On Waivers

News: Philippe Dupuis (thumb) was placed on waivers on Monday, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: Philippe Dupuis had zero points in 30 appearances for Toronto this year, so it's difficult to imagine that his services will be in high demand.

Leafs' Dupuis (Thumb) Practices But Remains Out

News: Philippe Dupuis (thumb) returned to practice Monday, but his status going forward remains unknown, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Philippe Dupuis missed the last two games with a broken thumb. It's unknown if he'll be ready to play during the team's current trip.

Leafs' Dupuis Hits IR

News: The Leafs have placed Philippe Dupuis on injured reserve with an undisclosed upper-body injury, according to SportsDirect. It isn't clear when Dupuis suffered the injury.
Analysis: Philippe Dupuis is simply a role player with no points in 30 games this season and an average of two seconds per game of power-play time. He's expected to miss at least a week of action.

Leafs' Dupuis To Skate With Kessel, Lupul

News: Philippe Dupuis will skate with Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul in Friday's preseason game against Detroit, according to a report on Toronto's FAN590.
Analysis: Philippe Dupuis does have offensive skills but he's been profiled as a pesky checker. This won't stick but the Leafs are hurting down the middle. We'll watch with interest.

Dupuis Could Earn Job With Leafs

News: Philippe Dupuis may have the inside track on the fourth-line center job for the Leafs, reports the Toronto Star.
Analysis: After Sunday's scrimmage, coach Ron Wilson said that Tyler Bozak and Philippe Dupuis were in the battle for the center spot on the PK. That means Dupuis could have the leg up on the fourth line center job, a battle he's waging with Mike Zigomanis and Darryl Boyce.

Dupuis In Tough To Make Leafs

News: Philippe Dupuis will be in a battle for a roster spot when Leafs' camp opens, reports the Toronto Star.
Analysis: According to Leafs' president and general manager Brian Burke, the team has "left one spot open for one of the forward spots" and Philippe Dupuis is in the mix. So are Matt Frattin, Joe Colborne and Nazim Kadri. Dupuis has more NHL experience than the others but his two-way deal makes it almost a certainty for him to end up in the AHL. Unless, of course, the team decides to let all three of the others grow in the AHL this year.

Dupuis Signs With Leafs

News: Dupuis has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Leafs, James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: Dupuis, who recorded six goals and 17 points in 74 games with the Avs this past season, slots in as the Leafs' fourth-line center in 2011-12.

Avs, Dupuis Part Ways

News: The Avalanche have opted not to make Dupuis a qualifying offer to retain his rights, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: This means Dupuis will hit the open market as a free agent starting this Friday. He had 17 points (6G, 11A) in 74 games for the Avs last season, and will likely land with another squad in a third- or fourth-line capacity.

Avs' Dupuis Back In Lineup Tuesday

News: Dupuis, who was a healthy scratch the last two games, will return to the lineup Tuesday against San Jose, according to the Denver Post.
Analysis: Dupuis will take the place of Brandon Yip who will take his turn as a healthy scratch against the Sharks.

Avs' Dupuis Ejected From Monday's Game Following Kneeing Incident

News: Dupuis was ejected from Monday's 9-1 blowout loss to Calgary after kneeing Olli Jokinen, according to the Denver Post.
Analysis: No word yet on whether Dupuis will face a suspension for the incident, which occurred at the end of the first period and resulted in Jokinen missing the entire third period. "We'll see what's going to happen, but I didn't mean to do that at all," Dupuis said. "It wasn't my intention. I don't want to hurt other players."

Avs' Dupuis: Quick Recovery From Injury

News: Dupuis has played two games since being helped from the ice Dec. 30 following a collision with teammate Daniel Winnik.
Analysis: There was no official update on his status following the injury, but at this point it's probably safe to say he just had his bell rung. He doesn't boast much fantasy value given his low productivity and minimal ice time - 10 points in 37 games at roughly eight minutes per night - but he's safe to use for those fantasy owners who do rely on him.

Avs' Dupuis Leaves Thursday's Game

News: Dupuis had to be helped off the ice in the first period of Thursday's game and didn't return.
Analysis: He went down behind the play after being on the ice for just 13 seconds. Dupuis has done solid work as an energy player for the Avs this year, picking up 10 points and a plus-6 on the season.

Dupuis Explodes for Three Points in Avs' Easy Win

News: Dupuis enjoyed a rare big night for a fourth-liner as Colorado cruised over Dallas on Saturday, 5-0. He collected two assists and snagged a shorthanded goal to take first-star honors for the game.
Analysis: If your league counts shorties as a separate scoring category, you know how precious those tallies are. But we suggest that you temper your expectations; he plays on a checking line, and those seldom generate meaningful fantasy numbers. Even after this three-point night, Dupuis only has four points on the season.

Avs' Dupuis Cracks Roster

News: Dupuis has made the team and is expected to be on the Avs' opening-night roster Thursday against Chicago, according to the Denver Post.
Analysis: Dupuis is the odds-on favorite to be the Avs' fourth-line center, and therefore only has fantasy value in very deep leagues. Dupuis had just a single assist in four games with the Avs last season, along with 35 points (16G, 19A) in 68 games at AHL Lake Erie.

Avalanche call up Dupuis from AHL

News: The Avalanche have recalled C Philippe Dupuis from the AHL.
Analysis: The 24-year-old Dupuis is basically organizational depth and can be ignored in Fantasy wherever he's playing.

Avs opt to re-sign Dupuis

News: The Avalanche signed forward Philippe Dupuis and defenseman Brett Skinner to contracts Wednesday. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Analysis: The 24-year-old Dupuis skated in eight games for the Avs in 2008-09, recording no points and a minus-1 rating. Dupuis led Lake Erie (AHL) in points (46) and assists (29) while appearing in 67 games. It could help him that his AHL coach -- Joe Sacco -- is now behind the Avs bench. However, Dupuis appears to be just organizational depth and can be ignored in Fantasy.

Dupuis healthy, demoted to minors

News: Avalanche C Philippe Dupuis has recovered from a foot injury and has been demoted to Lake Erie of the AHL.
Analysis: Dupuis was just an injury-replacement for the Avalanche earlier in January. He is just organizational depth at this point in his career and has little to no Fantasy value.

Dupuis doesn't return before break

News: Avalanche C Philippe Dupuis missed a third straight game Wednesday against the Kings because of a foot injury. He remains questionable heading into Tuesday against the Sharks.
Analysis: Dupuis has been up with Colorado since Adam Foote got injured, but now the rookie defenseman is out of action with his own ailment. He is nothing more than organizational depth and has no Fantasy value.

News: Avalanche C Philippe Dupuis missed a second straight game Sunday against the Flames because of a foot injury. He remains questionable heading into Wednesday against the Kings.

Avalanche call on Dupuis

News: The Colorado Avalanche have recalled C Philippe Dupuis from the AHL.
Analysis: A fourth-round pick in 2003, Dupuis hasn't done much at the AHL level and should be ignored in all formats for the foreseeable future.

Colorado keeps Dupuis in organization

News: The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Cody McLeod to a one-year contract and reached deals with six others Monday. Colorado also agreed to terms with forwards Philippe Dupuis and Nathan Smith, defensemen Darcy Campbell and Aaron MacKenzie, and goaltenders Jason Bacashihua and Tyler Weiman.
Analysis: Dupuis was traded to Colorado from Columbus in January, but was never recalled from the minors. He has still not made his NHL debut and is nothing more than organizational depth. It's safe to ignore Dupuis in Fantasy leagues.

Blue Jackets, Avs trade minor-leaguers

News: The Blue Jackets traded minor leaguers Darcy Campbell and Philippe Dupuis to Colorado for right wing Mark Rycroft on Tuesday. The 29-year-old Rycroft was sent to Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.
Analysis: Rycroft has appeared in 226 career NHL games with St. Louis and Colorado. He has 21 goals and 25 assists, including six goals and six assists with the Avalanche last season. Campbell, a 23-year-old defenseman, has one goal and five assists in 28 games for Syracuse this season. Dupuis, 22, has seven goals and four assists in 29 games for the Crunch. None of these guys have any Fantasy value at this time.

Monday's transactions by Jackets

News: The Columbus Blue Jackets reassigned D Andy Canzanello, C Phillipe Dupuis, D Marc Methot, LW Andrew Murray, RW Adam Pineault, G Tomas Popperle, LW Darcy Verot and D Kyle Wharton to Syracuse of the AHL on Monday.
Analysis: The club also reassigned C Derick Brassard to Drummondville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Neither of the players mentioned are useful in Fantasy Hockey.
