Getzlaf Records Two Points For Ducks

News: Ryan Getzlaf scored a goal on four shots, added an assist and went plus-1 in Thursday's shootout win over Vancouver.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf had been held off the board in brutal fashion for the last two games, compiling just one shot on goal and a minus-5 rating, so it's good to see him bounce back with a solid performance. As usual, he's hovering around a point-per-game pace for Anaheim, having tallied 19 in 20.

Ducks' Getzlaf Bags Goal In Return

News: Ryan Getzlaf (illness) notched his fourth goal of the season in Friday's loss against the Coyotes.
Analysis: The center was a surprise scratch Wednesday night after coming down with the illness, but he looked as impressive as usual in his return. He ranks among the league's leading scorers with 15 points over 14 games.

Ducks' Getzlaf Prepared To Play Friday

News: Ryan Getzlaf (flu) was back at practice Thursday and said he had "no doubt" that he will play Friday against the Coyotes, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Both Ryan Getzlaf and linemate Corey Perry missed Wednesday's loss to the Islanders with cases of the flu, but it appears Getzlaf is further along in his recovery of the two. While Perry remained absent from Thursday's practice, Getzlaf didn't seem to face any limitations during the session. Barring a late recurrence of the illness during Friday's morning skate, it seems like a pretty safe bet that Getzlaf will suit up later that night.

Ducks' Getzlaf Out Wednesday Due To Illness

News: Ryan Getzlaf will not play Wednesday night due to flu-like symptoms.
Analysis: Getlaf will take a seat along with teammate Corey Perry on Wednesday evening, as both players are feeling a bit under the weather. It's unclear at this point if Ryan Kesler would move up to the first-line center spot, or if coach Bruce Boudreau had a different plan in mind. Consider Ryan Getzlaf day-to-day heading into Friday's showdown with the Coyotes.

Ducks' Getzlaf Snaps Scoring Drought In Win

News: Ryan Getzlaf dished out a pair of assists in Sunday's win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf had gone four straight games without recording a point, so we knew this was coming. Despite the recent drought, the 29-year-old has still managed 14 points (three goals) in 13 games this season -- sixth best in the NHL. The top-line center has been credited with 33 shots on goal this season, but it's worth noting he has only managed five shots total in his last four games. Getzlaf, who hasn't scored a goal in five games, won't stay quite on that front for much longer. Once he start shooting more, the goals will follow.

Ducks' Getzlaf Racks Up PIM In Loss

News: Ryan Getzlaf picked up seven PIM in Sunday's loss to San Jose.
Analysis: After cranking out six points in three games, Ryan Getzlaf was held off the scoresheet Sunday, a game that saw the two teams combine for 165 PIM. Getzlaf, who has 12 points in nine games this season, will be back recording points in no time. You know what to do.

Ducks' Getzlaf Adds Two More Points To Ledger

News: Ryan Getzlaf contributed a goal and an assist while attempting five shots in Friday's 4-1 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: With both Ryan Getzlaf and teammate Corey Perry notching two points Friday, the duo was able to leapfrog the Stars' Tyler Seguin and Islanders' John Tavares for the league lead in points with 12. The Ducks are still searching for a permanent mate on the top line with Getzlaf and Perry, but both figure to find a way to remain productive no matter how many players coach Bruce Boudreau cycles through at that spot.

Ducks' Getzlaf Dishes Out Two Assists

News: Ryan Getzlaf assisted on both of Sami Vatanen's power-play goals in Sunday's win over the Blues.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf now has two goals and eight points to go with a plus-1 rating in six games this season. The 29-year-old center is well on his way to another 80-point season with a Ducks team that hasn't lost since opening night.

Ducks' Getzlaf Scores Twice Including Game Winner

News: Ryan Getzlaf scored twice, including the game winner with 24 seconds remaining, in a 3-2 victory over Detroit on Saturday night.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf was in a corner battle with Niklas Kronwall and simply beat him to the puck, walked out and lifted a backhander past Jimmy Howard. He now has four points (two goals, two assists) in his first two games.

Ducks' Getzlaf Registers Two Assists In Opener

News: Ryan Getzlaf assisted on two goals but finished with a minus-2 rating in Thursday's loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: It didn't take long for Ryan Getzlaf to establish chemistry with Ryan Kesler and Corey Perry on the power play, as the latter tallied three goals with the man-advantage, with either Getzlaf or Kesler assisting on the score. Unfortunately, the Ducks were less prolific at even-strength, resulting in the negative plus/minus for Getzlaf. He'll be able to bring that mark upward as the Ducks face more inferior opponents.

Ducks' Getzlaf Solid In Preseason

News: Ryan Getzlaf finished the preseason with no goals, three assists and a plus-4 rating in three games.
Analysis: Fresh off his 87-point showing last season, Ryan Getzlaf enters 2014-15 as one of the leading candidates to claim the Art Ross Trophy. While reaching the 30-goal plateau again may be a bit unrealistic, the assists should continue to trickle in for Getzlaf at a steady rate so long as he remains attached to Corey Perry on the first line and power play.

Ducks' Getzlaf Played Through Shoulder Injury

News: Ryan Getzlaf revealed that he played the entire second-round series against the Kings with a sprained shoulder.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf suffered what was described as an upper-body injury during Game 3 of the first-round series with the Stars and was forced to miss the next contest before returning to the ice for Game 5. Even though he was presumably at less than 100 percent health for his final nine playoff contests, there wasn't any sort of dropoff in his production, as the center totaled two goals and nine assists during that span. He'll probably take the next few weeks to rest the shoulder injury before commencing his offseason workout regimen.

Getzlaf Grabs Assist As Ducks Season Comes To End

News: Ryan Getzlaf registered an assist during the third period of a 6-2 route by the Kings in Game 7 on Friday.
Analysis: This season taught hockey fans something that they already knew, that Ryan Getzlaf is awesome. He had the second-most points and the most goals of any season in his career. His comeback game after being hit in the face by a slapshot in the first game of the postseason is a moment that will be talked about for years to come. As long as the Ducks have Getzlaf, they will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

News: Ryan Getzlaf was credited with an assist during the second period of a 4-3 defeat of the Kings in Game 5 on Monday.

News: Ryan Getzlaf scored a goal and got an assist during the first period of 2-0 shutout of the Kings on Saturday.
Analysis: The Ducks have to be happy to see their top player deliver like this at the most important time of year. He now has 13 points in nine playoff games so far this postseason.

News: Ryan Getzlaf picked up a power-play assist in the first period Thursday's Game 3 win over the Kings.
Analysis: He helped out on Corey Perry's game-opening tally. With four assists so far in this series and 11 points in eight playoff games overall, Ryan Getzlaf's having a mighty productive playoffs.

News: Ryan Getzlaf grabbed a power play assist midway through the first period of a 3-1 loss to the Kings on Monday.
Analysis: Despite his team being down 2-0, it's hard to blame Ryan Getzlaf given that he already has three assists in the series.

Getzlaf Scores in Return To Ducks' Lineup

News: Ryan Getzlaf returned to the ice for Friday's Game 5 against Dallas and delivered a goal and two power-play assists in a 6-2 Anaheim win. He has seven points in this series despite missing Game 4 with a facial injury.
Analysis: If you had benched him because of the injury, you should return him to your lineup for Sunday's game 6.

Ducks' Getzlaf (Upper Body) Practices

News: Ryan Getzlaf (upper body) practiced with the Ducks' first line during Friday's skate, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf returned to Anaheim for treatment on his facial injuries ahead of Wednesday's Game 4, causing him to be a late scratch. Now back in practice, Getzlaf figures to play in Friday evening's Game 5 against Dallas, with the teams knotted at two wins each.

Ducks' Getzlaf Iffy For Friday

News: Coach Bruce Boudreau said that Ryan Getzlaf's (upper body) status for Friday's Game 5 against the Stars is "up in the air" at this stage.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf -- who suffered multiple facial injuries after being hit with a puck in Game 1 of the series -- was a surprise scratch from Wednesday's Game 4 and regardless of what's currently ailing him, the Ducks' captain remains iffy for Friday's pivotal Game 5 at home.

Ducks' Getzlaf (Upper Body) Getting Treatment

News: Ryan Getzlaf has gone back to Anaheim to undergo treatment for his upper body injury, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: With the Ducks riding a 2-1 series lead heading into Wednesday, they feel that the better course of action for Ryan Getzlaf would be to get the treatment now, hopefully ensuring he'll be ready for the rest of the series. If there's any positive news that can be brought to light, it's that the current injury isn't related to the knee surgery Getzlaf underwent in March. The 28-year-old forward already has two goals and two assists over Anaheim's first three playoff games, so the team is hoping they won't be without his services for long.

Ducks' Getzlaf (Upper Body) Won't Play Wednesday

News: Ryan Getzlaf (upper body) will not play Wednesday night against the Stars, and is considered "day-to-day."
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf will take a seat due to an upper body injury that has been giving him problems, potentially clouding his status for the remainder of the series against Dallas. Rickard Rakell will play Wednesday night as a result, and is slated to be on the Ducks' fourth line. Getzlaf didn't participate in the Ducks' morning skate, but the announcement comes as a surprise nonetheless.

Ducks' Getzlaf Will Play Friday

News: As expected, Ryan Getzlaf will play Friday against the Stars.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf took a puck to the face in the Ducks' playoff opener Wednesday, but that won't prevent him from suiting up for the second game of the series Friday night. While Getzlaf will take the ice Friday, he will be without one of his regular linemates, as Matt Beleskey (lower body) will not play.

Ducks' Getzlaf Amazing In Return

News: Ryan Getzlaf scored an unassisted goal and registered a shorthanded assist during a 3-2 victory over the Stars in Game 2 of the NHL playoffs on Friday.
Analysis: A goal and an assist in his first game back from taking a puck to the face. There's not much more to say, other than that Ryan Getzlaf is the man.
