Getzlaf's Overtime Goal Lifts Ducks

News: Ryan Getzlaf assisted on Corey Perry's game-tying goal late in the third, then scored his 24th goal of the year in overtime to deliver a 3-2 victory over Boston on Thursday.
Analysis: Outstanding work by Ryan Getzlaf, who'd collected a modest three points in his prior six games coming in. He's got practically no chance to finish with another season of point-per-game-plus production this year, but Getzlaf has nonetheless been a high-end fantasy asset who'll almost certainly clear 70 points for the fifth time in the last seven non-lockout-shortened seasons.

Ducks' Getzlaf: Three Points In Last Four

News: Ryan Getzlaf registered an assist in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Rangers, giving him three points in his last four games.
Analysis: That level of production isn't out of the ordinary for Ryan Getzlaf, as he's produced 66 points in 71 games on the campaign. However, Getzlaf has only put up a combined two shot attempts in three of those games, a trend that could raise some concern if it persists. Don't sound the alarm just yet -- especially while the assists continue to trickle in at a steady pace -- but it's something that bears monitoring.

Getzlaf Scores Twice for Ducks In Loss

News: Ryan Getzlaf tallied twice early in the first, but his team failed to get the win Wednesday in Calgary.
Analysis: The goals helped Ryan Getzlaf reach 22 on the season, and end a four game pointless streak in the process. Look for Getzlaf to continue performing as the elite fantasy player that he is.

Ducks' Getzlaf Takes Shot To Foot

News: Ryan Getzlaf briefly left Wednesday's game against Montreal late in the third period after blocking a shot with his left foot.
Analysis: He returned shortly thereafter, but keep an eye on Ryan Getzlaf's status in the next few days in case he'll be forced to miss any time. Getzlaf leads all NHL forwards with 81 blocked shots this season.

Ducks' Getzlaf Picks Up Two Points

News: Ryan Getzlaf scored his 17th goal of the season and had an assist in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf now has 37 assists this season -- fifth most in the NHL. He's put up back-to-back multi-point games and has 54 points in 51 games on the season, making him a must-start every game. With a plus-8 rating, four-game-winning goals, 41 PIM, and 128 shots on goal, the Ducks' captain pretty much does it all for fantasy owners.

Ducks' Getzlaf Likely Playing

News: Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) was on the ice for warmups, indicating he will likely play Sunday.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf took part in morning skate, giving him hope of returning for the contest, and now that has come to fruition. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, there's no reason to believe he shouldn't be full go moving forward.

Ducks' Getzlaf Practices Sunday

News: Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) took part in the team's morning skate Sunday, but remains a game-time decision against the Lightning, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf missed each of the past two games due to the injury, but his presence at practice is a good sign. While it is reason to be optimistic, he's still a game-time call, and should receive an update prior to the faceoff with an official status.

Ducks' Getzlaf A Game-Time Call For Sunday

News: Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's tilt with the Lightning, Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf has been held out of the last two games with the injury, which he sustained during pregame warmups Thursday. He was able to skate Saturday, which provides some level of optimism that he might be available for the team's next game. It's worth tracking his status throughout Sunday's warmups, as a decision on his availability could come down to the wire.

Ducks' Getzlaf (Lower Body) Out Friday

News: Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) will miss Friday's game against the Capitals, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf had a resurfacing of a previous lower-body injury during warmups Thursday, and it will cause him to miss at least two games. The Ducks recalled William Karlsson from AHL Norfolk on Friday likely as insurance, which could indicate the captain's injury could sideline him longer than just these two contests.

Ducks' Getzlaf A Game-Time Decision Friday

News: Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Friday's game against the Capitals, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf was a late scratch for Thursday's game against the Predators, after he tweaked a lower-body injury during warmups. He's considered day-to-day, and with the Ducks not having a morning skate, Getzlaf's status may not be known until shortly before the opening faceoff.

Ducks' Getzlaf Questionable For Friday

News: Ryan Getzlaf, who tweaked a lower-body injury during warmups Thursday and ended up sitting out a 5-2 win over the Predators, is uncertain to play Friday against the Capitals, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports. "It's day-to-day, and we'll probably know more before we hit Tampa [Bay on Feb. 8] anyway," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "I don't even know if he can play [Friday], but he's coming to Washington with us."
Analysis: Boudreau's words cast significant doubt on Ryan Getzlaf's availability for Friday's game, but with the Ducks not holding a gameday skate, the forward's status likely won't be officially announced until pregame warmups. On a more fortunate note, the fact that the team is listing Getzlaf as day-to-day suggests a long-term absence is not in the offing, though that could change if his condition fails to improve much over the next few days. Rickard Rakell assumed Getzlaf's spot on the top line Thursday and would likely continue to do so if Getzlaf is out again Friday.

Ducks' Getzlaf A Late Scratch Thursday

News: Ryan Getzlaf was a late scratch for Thursday's game against the Capitals due to a lower-body injury, Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf reportedly aggravated a previous lower-body injury in warmups, and it will cause him to miss Thursday's contest at a minimum. This is the first information on the issue, and it puts his status in question for Friday's game against the Capitals as well.

Ducks' Getzlaf Provides OT Winner

News: Ryan Getzlaf snapped his three-game scoring drought in grand fashion Tuesday against Carolina, assisting on the game's first goal and scoring the overtime winner.
Analysis: After going a stunning minus-6 over the last two games, he finished plus-2 in this one. As usual, Ryan Getzlaf's body of work has been incredibly strong this year, and an 80-point campaign is within reach if he maintains his current pace.

Ducks' Getzlaf Struggles In Loss

News: Ryan Getzlaf failed to register a point for the third consecutive game and went minus-3 in Friday's loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Ryan Getzlaf's current scoring drought is tied for his second longest of the season. Anaheim has surrendered a total of 10 goals in their last two games combined, and Getzlaf has gone minus-6 over that stretch. Getzlaf is still having a fantastic season, however. The 29-year-old center has scored 15 goals and tallied 35 assists through 49 games with Anaheim.

His 50 points place him seventh in the NHL, while his total of 35 assists puts him behind only Jakub Voracek and Sidney Crosby. He's been especially hot during the past four games, providing two goals, three assists and a plus-8 rating. His fantasy owners can expect to continue to reap rewards in the second half.

News: Ryan Getzlaf registered two assists in Tuesday's game against the Sharks.
Analysis: The Ducks' top-line center has been rolling for the past month, as he's scored a point in all but one of his last 12 games. Even more impressively, he's multi-pointed in seven of those contests, vaulting him from the outskirts of the race for the Art Ross Trophy into a tie for fourth place in scoring league-wide.
