Thompson Traded From Tampa Bay To Anaheim.

News: Nate Thompson has been traded to the Ducks in exchange for a fourth and seventh round draft pick in 2015, according to the Ducks' Official Twitter feed.
Analysis: It's a depth move for the Ducks, although Nate Thompson does have the potential to be a strong and steady fourth-line center and penalty killer in Anaheim. Trouble is, there's not much fantasy value in that .

Bolts' Thompson: Three Goals In Last Two Games

News: Nate Thompson scored twice in Tampa's 6-3 loss to the Avalanche on Sunday night.
Analysis: What was in this guy's Wheaties? He snagged a goal Saturday and two more Sunday -- he's bloody well on fire! But before you get all excited, you need to remember Nate is a mucker, not a sniper. The points are sporadic ... at best.

Thompson Leads Charge In Bolts' Victory

News: Nate Thompson supplied both of the Lighting's two goals -- including the game-winner in overtime -- in Saturday's matchup with the Canadiens.
Analysis: Nate Thompson's first goal of the night may have been just as impressive as the game-winner, as it came while the Bolts were short-handed. The two goals snapped an eight-game pointless streak for the forward.

Bolts' Thompson Skates Thursday

News: Nate Thompson (illness) took part in Thursday's morning skate, Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Assuming Nate Thompson has his wind back after missing Tuesday's game with the illness, he'll likely be reinserted into the Bolts' lineup for Thursday. Tom Pyatt replaced him as the third-line center Tuesday.

Bolts' Thompson Out With Flu

News: Nate Thompson is suffering from the flu and will not be available for Tuesday's game vs. the Rangers, ESPN's Katie Strang reports.
Analysis: It seems likely that the symptoms developed in the afternoon, as there was no indication Nate Thompson was feeling under the weather during morning skate. Tom Pyatt takes his spot in the lineup Tuesday.

Bolts' Thompson: One Point In Last Nine Games

News: Nate Thompson's assist in Saturday's win over the Flyers was his first point in nine games.
Analysis: He had a bad day in the faceoff circle on Saturday, but that's where he's been delivering his greatest value this season. He has just three goals and six assists in 45 games, but he he has won 52 per cent of his faceoffs (281 of 543). He's a plugger, not a scorer. And that really limits his fantasy value, even in the deepest of formats.

Tampa's Thompson: First Point In Nine Games

News: Nate Thompson picked up his first point in nine games -- an assist -- in Wednesday's win over the Flyers.
Analysis: He's a journeyman grinder who can deliver hits, but his value is significantly more important to the Bolts than to fantasy owners.

Lightning's Thompson Back

News: Nate Thompson, who sat out Sunday's game at Buffalo after taking a puck to the face Saturday, is ready to return to action, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Nate Thompson has a modest total of 12 points and 10 PIMs in 39 games overall though, which limits his utility to deeper formats.

Lightning's Thompson (Face) Out For Sunday

News: Nate Thompson (face) will sit out Sunday's game against the Sabres, Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Nate Thompson will sit out Sunday as a precaution after he took a slap shot to the face during Saturday's game. He suffered a cut to his face and was forced to receive stitches but was able to return to the game, so it's surprising that he is being forced to miss further game action. The Lightning have a day off Monday before playing again Tuesday, so it would be surprising if Thompson was forced to sit out that game as well. However, the team called up J.T. Wyman to fill in for Thompson for the time being. Consider Thompson day-to-day for now.

Bolts' Thompson Saved By Visor

News: Nate Thompson took a Mike Green slap shot to the face in Saturday's game against Washington. The puck shattered his visor, which cut his face, but he was able to return to the game, reports CBC's Hockey Night in Canada.
Analysis: He may become the poster child for visors after that save. Green absolutely blasted the puck and it rose quickly, hitting Nate Thompson as he tried to block the shot. He required some serious stitches after that.

Lightning's Thompson Suspended Two Games

News: Nate Thompson has been suspended for two games for an illegal head check in Friday's game against the Devils, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: Nate Thompson has never been suspended or fined before and does not have a reputation as a particularly dirty player. Fantasy owners should start making other plans for this upcoming week, barring an appeal.

Lightning's Thompson Agrees to Extension

News: Nate Thompson agreed to a four-year, $6.4 million contract extension Saturday with the Lightning, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Nate Thompson's signing takes a potential trade target off the market for teams looking for late-season help. Thompson generally carries more value to his teammates than fantasy owners.

Career Night For Bolts' Thompson

News: Nate Thompson had the best offensive game of his NHL career on Tuesday night. He scored two goals, added an assist and finished plus-3 to carry the Bolts to victory.
Analysis: He has points in back-to-back games and was an absolute force on the ice Tuesday. Nate Thompson doesn't generally bring you a lot of fantasy value, but he's taking a lot of key face-offs to help his mates.

Bolts' Thompson Inks Tryout Deal With Hometown ECHL Squad

News: Nate Thompson has signed a professional tryout contract with the ECHL Alaska Aces, reports the Tampa Bay Times.
Analysis: The deal is currently valid only for training camp, but the checking center said, "I plan on playing here until the labor dispute is over." The Aces are not affiliated with any NHL team, but they play in Nate Thompson's hometown of Anchorage.

Active Night For Tampa's Thompson

News: Nate Thompson posted two assists in Monday's win over Washington, giving him 15 points on the season.
Analysis: Nate Thompson had missed some time with an upper body injury, but returned to action this past weekend. Odds are he will not have many one-point nights, let alone two-point nights, the remainder of the season.

Tampa's Thompson Back Saturday

News: Nate Thompson (upper body) will play against Winnipeg on Saturday, TampaBayLightning.com reports.

Thompson Out Saturday For Tampa

News: Nate Thompson (upper body) will miss Saturday's game against St. Louis, Tampa Tribune writer Erik Erlendsson reports.

Bolts' Thompson (Upper Body) May Be Out For While

News: Nate Thompson (upper body) might be out "perhaps for a while," according to Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Times.
Analysis: Coach Guy Boucher didn't seem optimistic Nate Thompson would be back soon but stopped short of any real specifics. Find someone else if you've been rolling him consistently -- there are a number of similars on most wires.

Lightning's Thompson Misses Practice Friday

News: Nate Thompson (upper body) did not practice Friday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Nate Thompson's absence from practice Friday does not bode well for his chances of playing Saturday against the Blues. If you have been using him in deep leagues, monitor his status leading up to game time.

Lightning's Thompson Past Flu

News: Nate Thompson, who had been slowed by the flu this past week, has recorded five shots on goal over his last two games.
Analysis: Nate Thompson is a minus-20 on the season and the last time he scored a point was the goal he scored back on Feb. 4. Since then, he's been scoreless in his last 13 games.

Tampa's Thompson Catches Flu

News: Nate Thompson (flu) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Montreal, Tampa Tribune writer Erik Erlendsson reports.

Bolts' Thompson: Goals In Two Straight

News: Nate Thompson scored a goal Tuesday against the Capitals and now has a goal in each of his last two games.
Analysis: He's much better on the ice than in the fantasy arena but it's still a nice little run for this role player.

Lightning's Thompson Should Play Tuesday

News: Nate Thompson appears to be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Toronto, as he's taking line rushes with Teddy Purcell and Tom Pyatt shortly before the opening face-off, according to Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune.
Analysis: He's been out since suffering a lower body injury back on December 17, but it looks like he'll be able to help fill out one of the team's bottom lines Tuesday.

Lightning's Thompson A Game-Time Decision Tuesday

News: Nate Thompson (lower body) will be a game-time decision Tuesday night, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.

Bolts' Thompson Gets Contact During Practice

News: Nate Thompson (lower body) shed his non-contact jersey for Monday's practice, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: He hasn't played since December 17, but Nate Thompson apparently hasn't suffered any setbacks to this point and could be nearing a return to game action.
