Brown Snaps Goal Drought In Kings Win

News: Dustin Brown snapped a 19-game goal drought by netting his 11th goal of the year in an 8-2 win Thursday.
Analysis: Dustin Brown's days of fantasy relevance are largely a thing of the past but he'll look to finish strong as the Kings try to lock up a playoff spot.

Kings' Brown Earns Assist

News: Dustin Brown pocketed an assist in Thursday's shootout win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Jeff Carter was on the receiving end of a give-and-go with Dustin Brown, aiding the latter to his first point in seven games. Brown has been prone to dry spells of this variety this season, having previously experienced a five-point skid and two separate eight-point droughts. From a fantasy perspective, there's not much value to be had any longer in Brown, who isn't likely to reemerge as a 50-point contributor again in his career.

Kings' Brown Picks Up Two Helpers

News: Dustin Brown notched a pair of assists in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Florida.
Analysis: His first points in four games, the helpers were not enough to carry the Kings past the Panthers. This is the first multi-point game in nearly a month for Dustin Brown -- once a consistent 50-plus-point man, he's seen his offense dry up dramatically over the last two seasons.

Kings' Brown Grabs Goal Wednesday

News: Dustin Brown potted a goal in Wednesday's win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Dustin Brown has seen his offensive involvement increase recently, generating two goals, an assist, and 16 shots on goal over four games. The winger currently slots in on the Kings' top line next to Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik, though coach Darryl Sutter's penchant for tinkering with his trios could result Brown in falling from a scoring line at some point in the second half.

Assists Coming In For Kings' Brown

News: Dustin Brown pocketed two assists in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: The winger has gathered a helper in all three of his January contests thus far, but remains mired in a long goal drought. He hasn't found the net since his two-goal game back on Dec. 4, and has just six tallies on the season. The lack of diversity in his scoring doesn't make him a particularly attractive fantasy forward at this time, despite the point streak.

Kings' Brown Notches Assist Monday

News: Dustin Brown notched an assist in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Flames.
Analysis: Since his three-point showing back on Dec. 5, Dustin Brown has fallen back into a prolonged slump similar to what he experienced in October. He's picked up assists in two of his last three contests, but prior to that he had been held off the scoresheet for eight straight games, producing a minus-6 rating during that stretch. That volatile production makes him a tough forward to count on for fantasy purposes.

Three-Point Outburst For Kings' Brown

News: Dustin Brown busted out with two goals on two shots as well as a power-play assist in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: After a pair of scoreless games, Dustin Brown got back on the board, but he continues to put up low-end offensive numbers. Once good for 50-plus points every year, Brown saw his offensive production decline sharply last year, and things haven't been much better this year.

Kings' Brown Records Two Points

News: Dustin Brown scored a goal and added an assist while firing four shots on goal and skating to a plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Wild.
Analysis: With the Kings having several scoring options up front, the veteran captain only has seven points in 23 games this year, but his 54 shots and 55 hits still give him relevance in many leagues.

Kings' Brown Ice Cold To Start Season

News: Dustin Brown has just one point and a minus-4 rating through the Kings' first 12 games.
Analysis: Dustin Brown's point totals have been trending downward for the previous four seasons, and based on the early returns, it certainly looks like that trend will continue again 2014-15. He's actually noticing a substantial increase in ice time (17:19 per game) from last season (15:50), but it's yet to bear any fruit for the 29-year-old. At this stage in his career, Brown carries his most value in the form of high hit and penalty-minute totals.

Kings' Brown Delivers Winner In 2OT

News: Dustin Brown redirected a point shot 10:26 into the second overtime period by Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and into the net in a 5-4 win for the Kings on Saturday night.
Analysis: The puck was headed wide, but Dustin Brown snuck into the high slot and got his stick on the puck. The Kings now lead the series 2-0.

Kings' Brown Gathers Two Assists In Game 7 Win

News: Dustin Brown collected two assists and finished with a team-leading eight shots on goal in Sunday's Game 7 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Though five Kings players ended up with two points on the nights, Dustin Brown was the unquestioned driver of the offense, as he attempted at least five more shots than every other member of the team. Brown very nearly came away as the hero in the waning seconds of regulation play, but he narrowly missed on a rush to the net that would have given the Kings a game-winning tally. Brown ended up with two goals and four assists over the final four games of the series, doing well to atone for the five-game pointless stretch that preceded it.

Kings' Brown Adds Goal, Assist Wednesday

News: Dustin Brown notched a goal and an assist in Wednesday's Game 5 loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Dustin Brown found himself in the goal column for the second straight game as he was able to punch home another gritty goal on a rebound in front of Corey Crawford. The winger is making a living right now cleaning up scoring chances created by linemates Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik, and continues to capitalize on the Blackhawks' inability to clear loose pucks from in front of their netminder.

Kings' Brown Ends Goalless Streak

News: Dustin Brown scored a power-play goal in Monday's Game 4 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: The tally ended a five-game pointless streak and a 10-game goalless streak, with the latter skid dating all the way back to Game 7 of the team's first round series with the Sharks. It's not a terribly surprising trend, considering Dustin Brown managed just 27 points in 79 regular-season contests. At this point in his career, Brown is mostly just a depth scorer for the Kings.

Kings' Brown Brings Offense, Physicality In Game 4

News: Dustin Brown scored an empty-net goal, dished out an assist and racked up 10 hits in Thursday's Game 4 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Hey, an empty-net goal is still a goal, and he did take four shots after taking just four in the previous three games combined. Dustin Brown's offensive and physical contributions helped the Kings stave off elimination, but they're still down 3-1 in the series. Part of the reason for that is that Brown had gone without a point in the first three games of the playoffs.

Brown Active In Kings' Win

News: Dustin Brown scored a goal on a season-high seven shots, tacked on an assist, laid six hits and went plus-2 in Tuesday's shootout win over Washington.
Analysis: It's been a quiet season offensively for Dustin Brown, who has a depressing 25 points in 70 games on the year, but hey, he's got three points and a plus-4 rating in his last three games.

Kings' Brown Expected To Play Monday

News: Though coach Darryl Sutter wouldn't confirm, Dustin Brown (upper body) is expected to play Monday against the Flyers, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Dustin Brown faced no limitations in morning skate and will more than likely be ticketed for his usual 15-18 minutes of ice time, barring a setback with the injury during pregame warmups.

Kings' Brown Present For Morning Skate

News: Dustin Brown (upper body) was on the ice for Monday's morning skate, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: This would seem to bode well for his chances of playing Monday against the Flyers. Dustin Brown suffered the upper-body injury in the third period of Saturday's game against the Panthers and did not return, but coach Darryl Sutter seemed to downplay the severity of the injury.

Kings' Brown Traveling With Team

News: Kings coach Darryl Sutter said Saturday that he assumes Dustin Brown (upper body) will travel on the Kings' upcoming three-game road trip, LAKingsInsider.com's Jon Rosen reports.
Analysis: While the news sounds good, the Kings reportedly left for Philadelphia shortly after Saturday's game, meaning that the team didn't necessarily have enough time to evaluate Dustin Brown's condition. It's still entirely possible that Brown will miss all three games, or none of the three, as his status remains up in the air.

Kings' Brown Leaves Early Saturday

News: Dustin Brown (upper body) did not return for the third period of Saturday's game vs. the Panthers, LAKingsInsider.com's Jon Rosen reports.
Analysis: Dustin Brown was dealing with a minor lower-body injury just a few days before, but it didn't prevent him from taking the ice Thursday night vs. the Capitals. The captain is listed as day-to-day, clouding his availability for the upcoming week.

Kings' Brown Playing Thursday

News: Dustin Brown (lower body/illness) will play in Thursday's game against the Capitals.
Analysis: After missing the previous two games, Dustin Brown was considered a game-time decision. He's been dealing with both an illness and a minor lower-body injury, but the Kings' captain should be fine going forward.

Kings' Brown Expects To Return Thursday

News: Dustin Brown (illness) believes he'll be able to play Thursday vs. the Capitals, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports. "We'll see how it goes the next 24 hours, but based off today, I think I'm ready to go," Brown said Wednesday.
Analysis: As Dustin Brown suggested, the Kings will probably wait and see how he's feeling following Thursday's morning skate before coach Darryl Sutter decides on his status for the game. The Kings have held out Brown for two straight contests due to the illness.

Kings' Brown May Return Thursday

News: Dustin Brown (lower body/illness) is out for Monday's game but may have a shot to return Thursday, the Los Angeles Times' Lisa Dillman reports.
Analysis: The report confirmed that Dustin Brown is dealing with a lower-body injury, making it unclear whether the illness is still an issue. Either way, Brown can be considered day-to-day.

Kings' Brown Iffy For Monday

News: Dustin Brown (illness/lower-body injury) did not practice Sunday, Jon Rosen of lakingsinsider.com reports.
Analysis: The report suggests that in addition to feeling under the weather, Dustin Brown is dealing with a minor lower-body injury that makes it unlikely that he will play against the Coyotes on Monday.

Brown Sits For Kings Due To Illness

News: Dustin Brown (illness) was unable to play Saturday due to his illness.
Analysis: Dustin Brown wasn't expected to play after not being able to take the pregame skate. He was benched for much of the third period in the previous game. He's expected to play in the Kings' next game Monday.

Kings' Brown Likely Out Saturday

News: Dustin Brown (illness) did not take the ice for pregame warmups Saturday, Elliott Teaford of the LA Newsgroup reports.
Analysis: Considered a game-time decision, Dustin Brown will apparently sit this one out. He's just dealing with an illness and will likely be ready for the Kings' next game, which is scheduled for Monday against the Coyotes.
