Caps' Fehr Delivers OT Winner

News: Eric Fehr assisted on Joel Ward's game-opening goal Thursday, and later finished the game with a goal of his own 42 seconds into overtime.
Analysis: Eric Fehr has just seven goals on the season, but three of them have been game-winners. As a modest offensive contributor who doesn't provide much in the way of secondary fantasy stats, Fehr holds quite minimal value in most formats.

Fehr Scores Game-Winner Against Carolina

News: Eric Fehr had the game-winning goal in Washington's 2-1 win over Carolina on Thursday.
Analysis: Eric Fehr also tallied three shots and three hits in just under 16 minutes of ice time to give him points in back-to-back games. While he's a versatile player for the Capitals, his role as a bottom-six forward and lack of opportunity in offensive situations make Fehr a reach in all but the deepest of leagues.

Caps' Fehr Nets First Goal

News: Eric Fehr netted his first goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: Eric Fehr's marker vaulted the Capitals to a 2-1 lead in the second period, but the advantage would last for just seven minutes. The 29-year-old has been slow to produce this season with just three points in nine games, earning himself his first healthy scratch earlier this week. He doesn't figure to become a regular in the press box, but don't expect his outputs to pick up dramatically in the near future while he remains confined to a third-line role.

Capitals Move Fehr To Third Line

News: Eric Fehr centered a line with Jason Chimera and Joel Ward during Wednesday's practice, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr had been playing on the top line alongside Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, sporting an assist and five shots i three games. But in the wake of Tuesday's 6-5 shootout loss to San Jose, head coach Barry Trotz is trying new lines at practice today. Fehr spent much of last season centering Chimera and Ward on what was, on some nights, Washington's best line, so it shouldn't be a difficult transition for Fehr. However, his fantasy value takes a significant hit not playing with Ovechkin and Backstrom.

Capitals' Fehr The Favorite For Top Line RW Spot

News: Eric Fehr has been skating with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom on the team's top line, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.
Analysis: With Alex Ovechkin moving back to left wing, Eric Fehr seems the likely candidate to take the job given the need for Troy Brouwer to shoulder the face-off burden on the second line and Joel Ward likely tied to Jason Chimera to form a talented third line. The job appears to be Fehr's to lose at the moment. Given his low ADP, Fehr is worth a late flier or speculative waiver pickup in all formats.

Caps' Fehr Gets Two Points In Loss To Flyers

News: Eric Fehr finished with a goal and an assist, along with two shots in 17:12 of ice time during Monday's 5-4 loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: Eric Fehr played on a line with Marcus Johansson, one of the contenders for the team's second-line center job, and rookie Jakub Vrana. Given his versatility, Fehr will be a valuable player for the Capitals this season, but it is not yet clear whether he will get top-six forward minutes yet. Fehr spent most of last season centering Jason Chimera and Joel Ward, and although it was a productive unit, the team looks like they are moving him back to wing for the 2014-2015 season. Unless he becomes a fixture alongside the likes of Alex Ovechkin or Nicklas Backstrom, Fehr's fantasy value is likely limited to deeper leagues.

Big Night For Caps' Fehr

News: Eric Fehr scored a goal, added a pair of assists and went plus-3 in Thursday's victory over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: This was Eric Fehr's first three-point game of the season, so don't start expecting the veteran wing to turn out big games left and right. However, he's now pushed his plus-minus back to even for the season.

Caps' Fehr Picks Up Goal Monday

News: Eric Fehr potted a goal in Monday's loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: The addition of Dustin Penner to the roster has bumped Eric Fehr from a top-six role, but he's still managed to provide points in each of his last two games. However, with only 24 points in 57 games on the season, Fehr is probably only a deep-league consideration at this point.

Caps Expect Fehr To Play Monday

News: Despite missing Monday's practice with a lower-body injury, Eric Fehr is expected to play Tuesday against the Islanders, Katie Carrera of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Coach Adam Oates said Eric Fehr was "just a little banged up" from Sunday's game, making his absence from practice more for maintenance reasons than anything else. His health is vital with three of the team's other forwards questionable for Tuesday's game with injuries of their own.

Caps' Fehr Nursing Lower-Body Injury

News: Eric Fehr missed Monday's practice with a lower-body injury, Katie Carrera of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The Capitals were already without the services of Mikhail Grabovski and Brooks Laich in Sunday's win over the Red Wings, and it appears Eric Fehr and Aaron Volpatti (upper body) have joined them on the team's growing list of injured forwards. Fehr's injury appears to have stemmed from blocking a shot in Sunday's contest. He's being listed as day-to-day.

Fehr Practicing With Grabovski

News: Eric Fehr was moved to a line with Jason Chimera and Mikhail Grabovski during Monday's morning skate, Mike Vogel of WashingtonCaps.com reports.
Analysis: The Capitals shuffled the deck with the possibility of Alex Ovechkin being held out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Ottawa, so it's not certain that these lines will hold. However, given Eric Fehr's underrated offensive skills, being reunited with a talent like Grabovski would certainly boost Fehr's fantasy value.

Capitals' Fehr Skates On Fourth Line On Sunday

News: Eric Fehr will play alongside Jay Beagle and Tom Wilson on the Capitals' fourth line when they play the Rangers, Katie Carrera of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr had enjoyed a more prominent role in recent outings, but the Capitals have shuffled their lines considerably since a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Blue Jackets on January 17th. Now on the outside of the top scoring lines and with no power-play time, With only two goals and 28 shots in his last 10 games, Fehr's fantasy value remains limited to all but the deepest of leagues.

Capitals' Fehr Falls To Fourth Line

News: Eric Fehr was shuffled to the Capitals' fourth line during Saturday's practice, Katie Carrera of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr had been enjoying an increased role with the team of late and looked to be locked into the team's top two scoring lines until Friday night's shameful 5-1 loss in Columbus. It is normal for coaches to dramatically alter their lineup following a string of losses or a significant defeat, both of which the Capitals are guilty of in recent outings. Fehr's inconsistency on the scoresheet paired with the decrease in ice time means he should only be considered in deep leagues until he can play his way back to a more prominent role.

Fehr's Two Goals Carry Caps

News: Eric Fehr scored the first Washington goal Thursday against Tampa Bay, then tallied the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in the third period.
Analysis: Output like this is rare for Eric Fehr, but he's now exceeded last year's point total by two in seven fewer games. A grinder who sees little power-play time, Fehr is more valuable on the ice for the Capitals than he is to fantasy rosters, though his 19 points on the year offers some deep-league relevance.

Caps' Fehr Pots Game-Winner Friday

News: Eric Fehr scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Rangers.
Analysis: After a narrow miss by the Rangers' Dan Girardi on the other end, the Capitals quickly advanced the puck down the ice, with Nicklas Backstrom finding Eric Fehr, whose quick release beat Cam Talbot from the right circle for the clincher. The winger has now contributed a point in each of the last three games.

Fehr Scores In Washington Win

News: Eric Fehr scored one of Washington's two goals in Friday's 3-2 shootout win over Montreal while assist on another.
Analysis: Eric Fehr has a goal in each of the last two games with nine points in17 games on the season. He's missed some time due to injury and his current scoring pace has him slated for his best season in recent memory, possibly even surpassing the 21 goals and 39 points he grabbed in 2009-10. Odds are Fehr will settle into a pace of a point every few games as he is not Alexander Ovechkin.

Caps' Fehr: Two Points In Last Two Games

News: Eric Fehr scored the Capitals' only goal in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche. He now has points in back-to-back games.
Analysis: Unfortunately, those are the only two points he has in five games this season and they're accompanied by a minus-6 rating. He is a talented offensive player, but he's a huge injury risk. He needs to prove he can stay healthy before we say dive in.

Fehr Has Two Helpers In Preseason Win

News: Eric Fehr notched two assists in a 4-3 preseason win over the Flyers on Monday.
Analysis: Eric Fehr scored nine goals and had eight assists in 41 games last year. He had a career-high 21 goals in the 2010-2011 season and was on pace for a comparable total in last year's strike-shortened season.

Caps Re-Sign Fehr

News: The Capitals have re-signed Eric Fehr to a two-year contract worth $3 million, the Washington Times reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr's career had been plagued by shoulder injuries in the past, but he proved that he could remain healthy while playing in Finland. He has registered 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in 39 games this season.

Caps Expected To Welcome Fehr Back

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) is expected to play Thursday against the Islanders, the Washington Post's Katie Carrera reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr, who last suited up on March 24, has not scored a point in his last 10 games, but overall he has tallied 12 points in 29 contests.

Capitals' Fehr (Upper Body) Placed On IR

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, washingtoncaps.com's Mike Vogel reports.

Caps' Fehr (Upper Body) Skates Friday Morning

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) skated for 10 minutes Friday morning, the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: It was Eric Fehr's first appearance on the ice since suffering an upper body injury in a March 24 game against the Rangers. Coach Adam Oates said Fehr remained "a ways away" from returning, so don't expect him to return to action this weekend.

Caps' Fehr Leaves With Injury

News: Eric Fehr left the game with an upper-body injury in the third period of a 3-2 shootout win over the Rangers on Sunday.
Analysis: Washington coach Adam Oates did not have a status update on Eric Fehr after the game. Fehr averages about 15 minutes on the ice a game and hasn't scored a goal since March 7. The Capitals face the Islanders on Tuesday.

Fehr Notches Three Points For Caps

News: Eric Fehr had a goal and two assists in a 4-3 overtime win against the Bruins on Tuesday night.
Analysis: The goal was Eric Fehr's fifth of the season. He has 11 points on the year, good for sixth on the team. This was a strong showing, but Fehr's never proven able to sustain prolonged offensive success. Still, the goal's worth watching -- check the video.

Caps' Fehr Scores Two

News: Eric Fehr scored his second and third goals of the season Thursday in a win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: With that, he's already exceeded last year's goal total of two. A 21-goal scorer at his peak with the Caps back in '09-'10, Eric Fehr seems to slowly be finding his offensive game again, as he's got a three-game points streak going that accounts for all five of his points on the season.
