Fehr Will Not Return To Capitals Next Season

News: Eric Fehr (elbow) will not return to the Capitals next season, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.
Analysis: With this news, Eric Fehr is now set to test the market when he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He's posted back-to-back seasons of 30 plus total points, and will fit in nicely with a team looking for a boost in offensive production from its bottom-six forwards. He's still recovering from elbow surgery he underwent on June 4, and will hope to be ready for the start of his new team's training camp in September.

Caps' Fehr Undergoes Successful Surgery

News: Eric Fehr underwent successful elbow surgery Wednesday, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr said the ailment had kept him out of a few games during the regular season, but it was a separate issue from the shoulder sprain that sidelined him for much of the postseason. While his recovery is likely to conclude in time for training camp, the procedure adds an extra wrinkle to to the Manitoba native's offseason already complicated due to pending unrestricted free agency. Anchoring the third line, Fehr collected 17 goals and 33 points in 75 games during the regular season.

Capitals' Fehr (Shoulder) Set To Play Wednesday

News: Eric Fehr (shoulder) is on the ice for pregame warmups Wednesday for Game 7 against the Rangers and is expected to play, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr has not played all series due to a shoulder injury but will make his return Wednesday. He will replace Curtis Glencross on Washington's fourth line.

Caps' Fehr (Shoulder) 'Not Quite Ready Yet'

News: Eric Fehr (shoulder) is highly unlikely play in Wednesday's Game 7 against the Rangers, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr was doubtful coming in, and he's missed the team's last nine playoff contests due to the injury. While it sounds as though he's nearing a return, it probably won't come Wednesday night. "I wish I could, but I'm not quite ready [to play] yet," Fehr said.

Caps' Fehr Unlikely For Game 7

News: Eric Fehr (shoulder) is still being viewed as day-to-day and is considered unlikely to play in Wednesday's Game 7 against the Rangers, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr has missed the Capitals' last nine postseason games due to the injury, but the team seems optimistic that he'd be able to play again at some point during the Eastern Conference Finals, should his team advance. In Fehr's absence, Jay Beagle has been called upon to center the Caps' third line.

Caps' Fehr (Shoulder) Skates Thursday

News: Eric Fehr (shoulder) was the only player to take the ice Thursday and remains day-to-day, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr has yet to suit up in a game for the Capitals since sustaining a shoulder injury in Game 3 of Washington's opening series against the Islanders, and is unlikely to get the call for Friday's Game 5 in New York.

Caps' Fehr Still Out

News: Eric Fehr (shoulder) won't play in Wednesday's Game 4 against the Rangers, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Coach Barry Trotz acknowledged that it might be tough to find a spot for Eric Fehr in the team's lineup right now, but that of course could change if a Caps' forward gets injured on Wednesday.

Caps' Fehr Making Progress

News: Eric Fehr (shoulder) conducted an on-ice workout with strength coach Mark Nemish after the Caps' optional skate Monday morning, the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: It appears safe to rule Eric Fehr out for Monday's Game 3 against the Rangers, though coach Barry Trotz does indicate that he thinks the forward could play before the end of the Caps' current second-round playoff series.

Capitals' Fehr Out For Game 2

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) will not play in Saturday's Game 2 against the Rangers, ESPN's Katie Strang reports
Analysis: Capitals coach Barry Trotz said Thursday that Eric Fehr will soon resume skating with the team, but a return for Game 2 never appeared to be a realistic possibility. Fehr may stand some chance to return for Monday's Game 3 or Wednesday's Game 4.

Fehr Close To Rejoining Caps

News: Coach Barry Trotz said Thursday morning that Eric Fehr is "very close" to skating with the team, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr was limited to working out on his own the past two days, and has been ruled out from playing in Thursday's Game 1 against the Rangers. It doesn't sound like as he's far off of a return at this point, as he could rejoin the team for practice as soon as Friday. Should that materialize, Trotz more than likely wouldn't feel comfortable having Fehr reenter the lineup for Saturday's Game 2, making Monday's Game 3 a more plausible target date.

Caps' Fehr Skates Wednesday

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) skated on his own prior to Wednesday's practice, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr has yet to resume taking part in full practice with the Capitals, so it appears safe to rule him out for Game 1 of the second-round series with the Rangers on Thursday. Jay Beagle has taken over centering duties on the third line since Fehr left the lineup over the final four games of the first-round series with the Islanders.

Caps' Fehr (Upper Body) Out For Game 7

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) won't play in Game 7 against the Islanders on Monday, Mike Vogel of the Caps' official site reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr - who suffered the upper-body injury in Game 3 - skated on his own Sunday, but won't be available for the club as they look to advance to the second round of the playoffs. However, coach Barry Trotz indicated he would be available in the next round should the Capitals.

Caps' Fehr Likely Out Until Possible Game 7

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) isn't expected to return to the lineup for the first-round series against the Islanders unless there's a Game 7, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: After Eric Fehr left last weekend's game with the injury, the Capitals ruled him out for Games 4 and 5, and now it appears safe to count him out for Game 6 as well. The forward has yet to resume skating, but coach Barry Trotz said that Fehr was still being labeled as day-to-day and hadn't been ruled out of the series. Michael Latta entered the lineup in his stead beginning in Game 3 and should continue to occupy a spot until Fehr returns.

Caps' Fehr Out At Least Next Two Games

News: Coach Barry Trotz said Eric Fehr (upper body) will miss "at least the next two games," Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.
Analysis: The news is a significant blow to the Capitals, who are already down 2-1 in their first-round series against the Islanders and could surely use the assistance of Eric Fehr, one of the team's better two-way players. Jay Beagle took Fehr's place on the team's third line after Fehr exited Sunday's Game 3 early in the first period.

Caps' Fehr Misses Practice

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) did not practice Monday, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr, who left Sunday's game against the Islanders with an upper body injury, thus looks iffy for Tuesday's Game 4, though that could change if he is able to join the team's morning skate in advance of the contest.

Caps' Fehr Exits Sunday's Game

News: Eric Fehr (upper-body injury) will not return to Sunday's game against the Islanders, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.
Analysis: Prior to his exit from Sunday's contest, Eric Fehr -- who notched 33 points in 75 regular season contests -- saw 1:19 worth of ice time. Consider him day-to-day in advance of Tuesday's Game 4 against the Isles.

Caps' Fehr Questionable (Upper Body) To Return

News: Eric Fehr suffered an upper-body injury in Sunday's Game 3 matchup against the Islanders and is questionable to return, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr suffered the injury on a hard hit, and has a history of upper-body issues leading into the playoffs. An update should come either some point during the game or after regarding his status, but at this point it's up in the air whether or not he'll return.

Caps' Fehr Back In Monday

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) took part in line rushes at morning skate and looks to be available Wednesday against the Islanders, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Eric Fehr was sidelined for the Capitals' final three regular-season games due to the injury, but the extra time off appears to have him healthy heading into the postseason. He's set to skate on the Caps' third line, where he'll center Brooks Laich and Jay Beagle.

Caps' Fehr Practices Monday

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) practiced Monday, the Washington Times reports.
Analysis: While Eric Fehr's presence on the ice bodes well for his chances of suiting up Wednesday against the Islanders, coach Barry Trotz fell short Monday of confirming Fehr's Game 1 status.

Caps Rule Out Fehr For Regular-Season Finale

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) will not play in Saturday's regular-season finale against the Rangers, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The forward was able to practice Friday and likely could have played if it were Game 1 of the playoffs, but with the Capitals' spot in the postseason secure, there's no incentive to play him at less than 100 percent Saturday. Eric Fehr will finish the regular season with 19 goals and 33 points, his highest totals in both categories since the 2009-10 campaign.

Capitals' Fehr Likely Out Wednesday

News: Eric Fehr skated on his own after the Capitals' morning skate and isn't likely to play Wednesday against the Bruins, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: While Eric Fehr figures to sit Wednesday, the Capitals don't appear to have ruled him out of the team's regular-season finale Saturday against the Rangers. However, he'll need to return to practice either Thursday or Friday before the Capitals will likely feel comfortable using him. The forward, who has 19 goals and 33 points on the season, will be replaced in the lineup by Andre Burakovsky, who was recalled from AHL Hershey over the weekend.

Capitals' Fehr Skates Before Practice

News: Eric Fehr (upper body) skated before Tuesday's practice, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The Capitals recalled Stanislav Galiev from AHL Hershey on an emergency basis Tuesday, indicating that Eric Fehr and/or Tom Wilson (upper body) is in danger of missing Wednesday's game against the Bruins. Fehr has already lost one game to the upper-body injury, which he suffered during Saturday's game against Ottawa.

Caps' Fehr Day-To-Day

Caps' Fehr Helps On Two In Win

News: Eric Fehr dished out a pair of assists in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Eric Fehr also finished with a plus-2 rating, improving his season total to plus-9. The pair of points pushed the 29-year-old past his 31-point output from last season though he's still seven back of his career-high 39 points from the 2009-10 season. Fehr has provided valuable contributions from a bottom six forward role, but that sort of production often doesn't translate to fantasy success.

Caps' Fehr Nets Goal, Ends Scoring Drought

News: Eric Fehr tallied a goal in Washington's 3-2 OT win against New Jersey.
Analysis: Eric Fehr was demoted to the fourth line, but still managed to score his first goal since Mar. 3, and ended an eight-game skid where he failed to record a single point. Although he has had a fine season for a depth player, his lack of offensive opportunities and inconsistency in scoring render him a reach in all but the deepest of fantasy leagues.
