Sens' MacArthur Has Hip Flexor Injury

News: Clarke MacArthur acknowledged he suffered a hip flexor injury during the postseason series with the Canadiens, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: The injury appeared to occur in Game 5, when he left the match prematurely with what the team termed as a "lower-body injury." Clarke MacArthur was ultimately able to suit up for Game 6, logging 20:39 of ice time and supplying five shots on goal and seven hits in the series-ending loss. He'll take the next several months off to recuperate from the injury, but should be fully healthy by the time training camp arrives.

Sens' MacArthur (Lower Body) Will Play Game 6

News: Clarke MacArthur (lower body) is slated to suit up for Sunday's Game 6 against the Canadiens, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur left Game 5 on Friday early with the lower-body issue, and did not return. However, it appears the injury was minor enough that he'll give it a go as the Senators look to stave off elimination once again.

Sens' MacArthur (Lower Body) Exits Early Friday

News: Clarke MacArthur will not return to Friday's Game 5 against the Canadiens after suffering a lower-body injury.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur should be considered day-to-day moving forward. With the severity of his injury still unclear, his next opportunity to skate will be in the potential Game 6 on Sunday.

Sens' MacArthur Pots Goal In Game 3 Loss

News: Clarke MacArthur potted a goal in Sunday's Game 3 loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur's marker gave the Senators an early 1-0 lead, which nearly held up as the game-winning tally until the Habs' Dale Weise pushed one past goalie Craig Anderson for the tying score. The 30-year-old has been on fire for the Senators since returning from a concussion March 28, accruing five goals and seven assists over 12 games.

Six-Game Point Streak For Sens' MacArthur

News: Clarke MacArthur notched a goal, an assist and a plus-2 rating Thursday against the Rangers, pushing his point streak to six games.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur and linemate Kyle Turris (as well as Mark Stone) have been pouring it on as the Sens battle for a playoff spot, and it's no coincidence that they're 5-0-1 over the course of his point streak. There's no reason to think he won't stretch it to seven in Saturday's season finale.

Point Streak At Five Games For Sens' MacArthur

News: Clarke MacArthur registered an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's overtime win over the Senators.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur has given the Senators an immediate boost since returning from a concussion March 28. In seven games, he's generated two goals and five assists, and extended his point streak to five games with the helper in Tuesday's match. MacArthur's linemates, Kyle Turris and Mark Stone, have ran even hotter over the last several games, making all three members of the trio must-plays in most formats.

Sens' MacArthur Productive Since Returning

News: Clarke MacArthur recorded an assist and finished with a plus-2 rating in Thursday's win over the Lightning.
Analysis: After missing about five weeks due to a concussion, Clarke MacArthur has fit seamlessly into the Senators' lineup in his first four games back. He's tallied a goal and two assists during that span, while skating on the top line with the red-hot Kyle Turris and Mark Stone. Fantasy owners in need of extra forward depth could do worse than scooping MacArthur off the waiver wire.

Sens' MacArthur Will Play Saturday

News: Clarke MacArthur will be in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
Analysis: As was expected after the team cleared him to play Friday, Clarke MacArthur will skate on the Sens' second line in his first game since leaving a Feb. 16 contest with the head injury. The timing for MacArthur's return is quite fortunate for the Senators, as the team lost another top-six winger in Milan Michalek to a concussion last weekend.

Sens' MacArthur Cleared To Play

News: Clarke MacArthur (concussion) was cleared to return to the lineup Saturday against the Maple Leafs, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. The Senators officially activated him from injured reserve Friday, according to the NHL's official media site.
Analysis: After practicing with the Senators on Friday and receiving clearance to travel with the team to Toronto, Clarke MacArthur learned that he passed the concussion test he took Thursday, which was the final hurdle he needed to clear in order to play again. Coach Dave Cameron didn't formally announce that MacArthur would return to the lineup Saturday, and with the Senators kicking off a back-to-back set, it's possible the team holds him out until Sunday's home date with the Panthers. However, with the injuries to both Milan Michalek and Matt Puempel compromising the Senators' depth on the wing, it seems more likely than not that MacArthur checks back in Saturday.

Sens' MacArthur (Concussion) Traveling With Team

News: Clarke MacArthur (concussion) is traveling to Toronto for Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs, TSN 1200's Dean Brown reports.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur took a concussion test Thursday but does not yet know the results. His status for Saturday's game will likely depend upon the outcome of the test, which should be available at some point Friday.

Sens' MacArthur Targets Weekend Return

News: Clarke MacArthur (concussion) is targeting a return to action this weekend.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur, who continues to inch toward a return, isn't a candidate to suit up Thursday against the Rangers, but a return as soon as Saturday (against the Maple Leafs) or Sunday (against the Panthers) looks plausible for the forward, assuming he passes all his concussion tests, as hoped.

Sens' MacArthur Continues To Practice

News: Clarke MacArthur (concussion) practiced with the full team Wednesday, Dean Brown of TSN 1200 reports.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur has now practiced three times since receiving clearance from doctors to begin skating with the team again. While he wasn't participating in line rushes and thus figures to be unavailable for Thursday's game against the Rangers, MacArthur appears on track to suit up for one or both of the Senators' weekend contests.

Sens' MacArthur Nears Return

News: Clarke MacArthur, who has been out since Feb. 16 with concussion symptoms, is nearing a return to action, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Clarke MacArthur -- who has been practicing with the Sens -- could be back in the team's lineup as soon as this coming weekend. Prior to sustaining his concussion, the winger had recorded 26 points in 53 games.

Sens' MacArthur Skates With Team

News: Clarke MacArthur (concussion) skated as an extra forward at Saturday's morning session, Dean Brown of TSN 1200 reports.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur resumed skating a few days ago, but had been limited to working out by himself rather than with the rest of the team. He still hasn't been cleared for contact and thus remains under the concussion protocol, but it seems increasingly likely that he'll be able to return before the regular season draws to a close.

Sens' MacArthur (Concussion) Skates Solo Sunday

News: Clarke MacArthur (concussion) skated by himself Sunday, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur hasn't played since suffering a concussion Feb. 16, but has finally returned to the ice in some capacity. While he's likely still a ways off from returning to the lineup, he's at least making progress. The next step would be a return to practice and being cleared to play.

Sens' MacArthur Still Has Concussion Symptoms

News: Clarke MacArthur is still suffering from concussion symptoms, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: As a result, the winger has yet to return to the ice in any capacity since suffering the head injury Feb. 16. The Seantors don't have a timetable for his return.

Sens' MacArthur Dealing With Concussion

News: Coach Dave Cameron confirmed Friday that Clarke MacArthur's upper-body injury has been diagnosed as a concussion, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur's concussion stems from a collision in Monday's loss to the Hurricanes with teammate Robin Lehner, who was also diagnosed with the head injury and placed on injured reserve. Concussions typically result in volatile recovery timetables depending on the severity of the injury as well as the player's own personal history, so it's tough to speculate on when MacArthur's activation might come. In the meantime, he'll remain under the league's concussion protocol, keeping him off the ice until further notice.

Senators Place MacArthur On IR

News: Clarke MacArthur (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur collided with teammate Robin Lehner in Monday's loss to the Hurricanes, resulting in injuries and now IR stints for both players. While MacArthur will be eligible to return to action as soon as the Senators' Feb. 25 game against the Ducks, but there's no evidence yet that he'll be ready by that time. He has yet to resume skating since suffering the injury.

Sens' MacArthur Likely To Sit Out Wednesday

News: Clarke MacArthur (undisclosed injury) likely won't be available for Wednesday's game against the Canadiens, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur, who has recorded 26 points in 53 games to date, looks iffy for Wednesday after colliding with goalie Robin Lehner in Monday's loss to the Hurricanes.

Sens' MacArthur Departs With Injury Monday

News: Clarke MacArthur was removed from Monday's loss to the Hurricanes following a collision with teammate Robin Lehner, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur appeared to take the brunt of the hit, as Lehner was able to exit the ice under his own power. Meanwhile, a stretcher was brought on the ice for MacArthur, but the forward ended up walking off the ice with assistance from his teammates. The nature of MacArthur's injury hasn't been revealed by the Senators, but his head appeared to collide with Lehner's shoulder, suggesting a concussion might be in play. The winger, who has 26 points in 53 games, had just returned to action Monday after missing Saturday's 7-2 win over the Oilers due to the flu.

Senators' MacArthur (Illness) Returns Monday

News: Clarke MacArthur (illness) returned to the ice for Monday's game against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: With Clarke MacArthur's return to the ice Monday, he should be available moving forward ahead of Wednesday's game against the Canadiens. As it stands, the 29-year-old has 13 goals and 13 assists on the season despite missing his third game of the season with an illness against the Oilers on Saturday.

Sens' MacArthur Out With Flu Saturday

News: Coach Dave Cameron said that Clarke MacArthur is dealing with the flu and will not play Saturday against the Oilers, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur also missed a game in December due to illness, but he's otherwise been a picture of health for the Senators, suiting up in 52 games. His absence Saturday will deprive the team of a top-six forward, with Mike Hoffman more than likely sliding up to the Mika Zibanejad-Bobby Ryan line to cover for him.

Sens' MacArthur Picks Up Assist Thursday

News: Clarke MacArthur collected an assist and attempted two shots in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Stars.
Analysis: It's been mostly crickets for Clarke MacArthur the last two weeks. The assist gave him his first point in five games, and he's only attempted seven shots during that time. With 25 points and a minus-9 rating for the season, MacArthur looks like no better than a medium-sized option in fantasy leagues.

Sens' MacArthur: Two-Point Night Including Winner

News: Clarke MacArthur scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 5-1 win over Arizona. The goal stood up as the game winner.
Analysis: Four of his 12 goals have been winners, so he's clutch when he does find twine. He's behind his pace of last season and may only finish in the mid-40s. But right now, his six points, including three goals, in seven games makes him a worthy activation ... at least in the short term.

Point Streak Mounts For Sens' MacArthur

News: Clarke MacArthur extended his point streak to four games with an assist in Sunday's loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: Clarke MacArthur has delivered two goals and two assists during that time, giving him 11 and 10 for the season, respectively. By virtue of being a top-line forward on Ottawa's roughly league-average offensive attack, MacArthur warrants attention, but he's unlikely to ascend to upper-tier status among fantasy wingers over the remainder of the season.
