Two Assists For Wings' Kronwall

News: Niklas Kronwall dished out a pair of helpers and skated to a plus-2 in Saturday's impressive road win over the Predators.
Analysis: Niklas Kronwall picked up secondary assists on Alexei Marchenko's game-tying goal and Tomas Tatar's game-winner in the third period, giving him 37 points on the season. Owners would love to see more in terms of goals (seven) and SOG, as Kronwall barely manages to put one puck on net per game with 69 SOG in 61 contests. At the end of the day, though, the 34-year-old Swede is the top dog on the Wings' blue line and sits 16th in scoring among NHL d-men, making him a valuable commodity in all leagues.

Wings' Kronwall Sets Up Two Monday

News: Niklas Kronwall set up a pair of goals in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Ducks, giving him seven points in the last seven contests.
Analysis: Detroit's best blueliner has been as-advertised this year, scoring at a rate of 0.6 points per game with 35 in 58 games. It's probably a stretch to suggest he'll beat his career best of 51 set in 2008-09 -- especially since his shooting percentage (10.6) is over three points high than his average of 7.2 -- but Niklas Kronwall is a very productive d-man capable of giving fantasy rosters that extra bump needed to make a run for a championship.

Wings' Kronwall Shoots Down Stars In Overtime

News: Niklas Kronwall scored the overtime-winner and had an assist Saturday against Dallas.
Analysis: Niklas Kronwall's steady production continues, as he's now got seven goals and 33 points in 57 games on the season. He averages a whopping 23:40 of ice time per game and plays a key role for a Detroit team that has suffered just three regulation losses in their last 15 games.

Wings' Kronwall Earns Assist Wednesday

News: Niklas Kronwall contributed an assist, but took a minus-3 rating in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: The minus-3 is the worst rating Niklas Kronwall has taken all season, which is probably more of a testament to the Red Wings' ability to avoid blowout losses. As was expected heading into the season, Kronwall leads all Detroit blueliners with 30 points, including assists in three of his last four games. He's been unable to find the net since Dec. 13, however, with a sharp decline in shot attempts the primary culprit. He's put just 23 shots on net since that date, covering 22 games.

Wings' Kronwall Records Two Points

News: Niklas Kronwall assisted on a pair of goals in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Predators.
Analysis: The two assists snapped a four-game scoreless streak for the blue-liner. The 34-year-old defender should end up close to his 49-point output from last season, as he remains in the top tier of fantasy defenseman.

Assists Piling Up For Wings' Kronwall

News: Niklas Kronwall tallied a power-play assist in Tuesday's win over the Oilers.
Analysis: That gives Niklas Kronwall five helpers over his last five games, boosting his point total to 23 for the season. The 33-year-old remains on track for the third 40-point season of his career.

Wings' Kronwall Assists Twice In OT Win

News: Niklas Kronwall registered two assists in Saturday's 3-2 overtime victory over the Senators.
Analysis: Niklas Kronwall was a setup man on both of the Red Wings' regulation goals, showing that the upper-body ailment that threatened his availability for Saturday's game is nothing to fret over. The points were the first in four games for the blueliner, who has noticed his production tail off since the start of December.

Wings' Kronwall Active Saturday

News: Niklas Kronwall (upper body) is active for Saturday's game against the Senators, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Analysis: Niklas Kronwall was forced from Tuesday's game with the upper-body injury but made it through morning skate without issue and was thus given the green light to play against Ottawa.

Detroit's Kronwall Officially A Game-Time Decision

News: Niklas Kronwall (upper body) will be a game-time decision for Saturday's game against the Senators, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Niklas Kronwall was a full participant at morning skate and it appears more likely than not that he will play Saturday, but he did note that he still needs final clearance from the team doctor before taking to the ice. Expect his status to be verified when the Red Wings take their pregame warmup a half hour prior to Saturday's game.

Wings' Kronwall To Play Saturday

News: Niklas Kronwall (upper body) will suit up for Saturday's game against the Senators, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: After Niklas Kronwall exited Tuesday's game early with the upper-body injury, the recently completed three-day holiday break appears to have afforded him enough time to recover from the ailment. He was a full participant in the Red Wings' gameday skate Saturday, assuming his usual spot on the top pairing with Jonathan Ericsson. Fantasy owners should feel comfortable about reinserting Kronwall into their lineups.

Red Wings' Kronwall (Upper Body) Day-To-Day

News: Niklas Kronwall (upper body) is listed as day-to-day after leaving Tuesday's game against the Sabres early, Brendan Savage of MLive Media Group reports.
Analysis: After the game general manager Ken Holland said he's hopeful that Niklas Kronwall will be able to take advantage of the added rest of the Christmas break and ultimately play against the Senators on Saturday. The 33-year-old came into Tuesday having played in 34 games with a combined total of 18 points.

Wings' Kronwall Suffers Upper-Body Injury

News: Niklas Kronwall left Tuesday's game against the Sabres with an upper-body injury and will not return.
Analysis: Niklas Kronwall suffered the injury after taking a hit deep in the Wings' zone during the second period. The team likely won't have further word on the extent of the injury until after the game. If the injury ends up just being a day-to-day concern, the upcoming three-day break in the NHL schedule could potentially allow Kronwall enough time to heal up before Detroit's next game Saturday.

Kronwall Gets Wings' Only Goal Saturday

News: Niklas Kronwall scored Detroit's only goal in a 4-1 loss to Toronto on Saturday night. It came on the power play.
Analysis: It was his fifth of the season and 18th point in 31 games. But it was just his first power-play goal of the year after he potted five of his eight last season while playing with the man advantage.

Wings' Kronwall Sets Up Two Goals Friday

News: Niklas Kronwall contributed a pair of helpers in Friday's win over the Devils.
Analysis: That's 15 points (three goals) in 23 games for Niklas Kronwall, who once again is doing a tremendous job at managing the blue line in Detroit. The power-play quarterback is a massive workhorse who is on track for the second 50-point season of his NHL career. You know what to do.

Wings' Kronwall Assists On Two In Loss

News: Niklas Kronwall dished out two assists in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: It was the second straight two point game for Niklas Kronwall, bringing him to nine assists and 12 points on the year. He dished it out 41 times last season, and could push 40 points from the blue line this year.

Wings' Kronwall Nets Third Of Season

News: Niklas Kronwall scored his third goal of the season and added an assist in Friday's win over New Jersey.
Analysis: Niklas Kronwall is up to 10 points in 14 games this season to go with a minus-2 rating. He logs heavy minutes in Detroit and has recorded almost half of his points on the power play, where he lines up alongside Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. Keep him rolling.

Wings' Kronwall Bags Two Assists In Win

News: Niklas Kronwall dished out a pair of helpers in Friday's win over the Kings.
Analysis: The 33-year-old now has eight points (two goals) in 10 games, to go with a minus-1 rating. Counted on as a heavy minute-muncher in Detroit, Niklas Kronwall could come close to duplicating the success of the eight-goal, 49-point season he put up in 2013-14.

Wings' Kronwall Busts Out In Win

News: Niklas Kronwall blew up for two goals, an assist, two PIM and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's comeback win over the Penguins.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg may have been the architect of the comeback, but Niklas Kronwall played a major role too. He scored the first goal for the Wings, assisted on Zetterberg's late tally that started the comeback, and then put the game-tying tally past Thomas Greiss with 39 seconds remaining. The first multi-point game of the year for Kronwall, Thursday's effort lifts him to a total of six points in seven games and flips his plus-minus back to the positive side of the ledger.

Wings' Kronwall Looking To Continue Strong Play

News: Niklas Kronwall finished the preseason with no goals and one assist in four games played.
Analysis: Niklas Kronwall had a nice season in 2013-14, finishing with 49 points. Although he could use a stronger defensive mate to help elevate his scoring another echelon, Kronwall should make another run at 50 points and finish as one of the top fantasy defensemen.

Wings' Kronwall Comes Alive

News: Niklas Kronwall collected his first two points of this year's playoffs in Thursday's overtime loss to Boston, notching a power-play goal and an assist.
Analysis: A 49-point scorer with the Wings this year, Niklas Kronwall's generally expected to chip in a bit more than the zero offense he'd contributed in the first three games of the series. He played plenty of defense, too, putting his body in front of seven shots. Nonetheless, the Wings now trail 3-1 in the series.

Wings' Kronwall A Healthy Scratch Sunday

News: Niklas Kronwall will be a healthy scratch for Sunday's regular season finale, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.

Wings' Kronwall: Two Points Make Four In Last Four

News: Niklas Kronwall scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's loss to Montreal. He now has four points, including three assists, in his last four games.
Analysis: Is it just us or is this one of the quietest near-50 point seasons for an NHL blueliner? There were plenty of whispers that this guy was a sorry filler for the great Niklas Lidstrom, but he really has demonstrated his game in all zones is very solid. His 48 points are the second-best mark of his career. And there's still time to build on it.

News: Niklas Kronwall tallied his seventh goal of the season Thursday in a 3-2 overtime loss to Colorado.

News: Niklas Kronwall handed out a pair of assists Thursday in a 3-1 win against Florida.
Analysis: Niklas Kronwall is heating up right before the Olympic break, as he has tallied five points in his last three games. He's a must-start, as he is in the top 10 in scoring among defensemen.
