News: Meyer (upper body) will not play again this season, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Analysis: With just two weeks left in the season, the Thrashers opted to shut Meyer down rather than rush him back. Meyer saw action in just 15 games this season, tallying one point and one assist with a minus-7 rating.
News: Meyer (upper body) will not play on Thursday against the New York Islanders, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Meyer has not played since early February and only has two points (1 goal and 1 assist) on the season, so even if he comes back, he's not really worth considering.
News: Meyer (upper body) is not suffering from headaches but has "other issues" to deal with and as now missed four straight games, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: There is no timetable for Meyer's return but he's not exactly an impact player fantasy wise so his status isn't much cause for concern in that regard.
News: Meyer (upper body) has been placed on the IR by the Thrashers, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The move opens up a spot for the recall of Spencer Machacek. There's still no word on how long Meyer, who briefly lost consciousness in the Thrashers' February 3 contest, will be sidelined.
News: Meyer (upper body) remains sidelined and was not on the ice for practice Thursday, Ben Wright of the Thrashers' official site reports.
Analysis: Although he hasn't been placed on IR, the Thrashers haven't shed much light on the situation as there's no apparent timetable for his return right now. Don't be surprised if a roster adjustment is made in the coming days as it doesn't appears though Meyer will be suiting up for a game at any point in the near future.
News: Meyer was not on the ice with his teammates for Friday's practice, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Considering that he lost consciousness Thursday against the Flames, Meyer will likely be unavailable for at least a game or two. Keep an eye out for a callup at some point Friday.
News: Meyer suffered an upper-body injury in the second period of Thursday's game, and did not return to the ice, reports Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Analysis: Consider Meyer day-to-day until there's more news of his injury. Fantasy owners won't be missing much production, as Meyer has just 20 goals in his 281-game career.
News: Meyer scored on a bad angle wrist shot that squeaked past Islanders goalie Kevin Poulin to give the Thrashers a 1-0 lead in the first period of Tuesday night's game.
Analysis: Meyer's goal was the 20th of his NHL career, which spans 280 career games. Given the goals to games played ratio, it's easy to see that he's not suitable for your fantasy team for any reason.
News: Meyer will be scratched from the Thrashers' lineup Tuesday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Meyer was just activated from injured reserve Monday, but he will be the odd defenseman out for the Thrashers on Tuesday.
News: Meyer (lower body) has been activated from IR, Chris Vivalamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Noah Welch was sent back to Chicago (AHL) on Monday, so look for Meyer to rejoin the Thrashers' lineup Tuesday night.

Analysis: Meyer noted he is progressing well, but a return date has yet to be established.
News: Meyer (lower body) did not travel with the team to Florida, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Meyer, who did not practice Monday or Tuesday, will now have missed four straight games for the Thrashers with the injury. There's still no timetable for his return.
News: Meyer (lower body) has been placed on IR retroactive to October 23, according to the Thrashers' official website.
Analysis: Meyer has played in five games this season and has yet to record a point. Meyer is a low-end fantasy defenseman when he returns.
News: Meyer (lower body) did not practice Monday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Meyer has missed Atlanta's last three games. "Freddy is still sore," coach Craig Ramsay said. "It has not progressed the way we have expected." No word yet on his status for Wednesday's game against Florida, but he doesn't seem likely to play.
News: Meyer (lower body) did not participate in the Thrashers' morning skate Friday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore reports.
Analysis: No word yet on his status for Friday's game against Buffalo, but his lack of participation in the morning skate indicates he probably won't play.
News: Meyer missed practice Tuesday for the second day in a row with what coach Craig Ramsay referred to as a mid-body injury, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: At this point, Meyer has not be ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Rangers, but it appears unlikely that he'll see ice time. With Zach Bognosian not making the trip to New York, the Thrashers are expected to recall Noah Welch from AHL Chicago.
News: Meyer will play Friday night for the first time this season, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Meyer, who has been a healthy scratch the last three games, will play in place of Zach Bogosian, who is suffering from a shoulder injury. We'd wait and see what Meyer does with this opportunity before tossing him into your lineups.
News: Meyer has signed a two-way deal with Atlanta, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivalamore reports.
Analysis: He'll collect $500,000 if he remains with the Thrashers and just over $100,000 if he's sent down to Chicago (AHL). His best offensive season came with the Flyers back in 2005-06 when he potted six goals and 21 assists in 57 games. Given how bad the Isles were during his time there, there's a decent chance that Myer will improve from his minus-21 rating over the last two seasons in Year 1 with Atlanta. Still, he's unlikely to make a fantasy impact given his low chances of being more than a third-pairing option this season.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer scored his second goal of the season in Tuesday's win over the Predators.
Analysis: Meyer doesn't provide much offense from the blue line and remains a non-factor in Fantasy play.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer tallied a pair of assists and finished at plus-2 during Friday's game against the Penguins. It was his first points in nine games.
Analysis: Meyer is back in the Islanders' rotation after Radek Martinek went down with a season-ending injury. If that didn't happen, Meyer likely would have stayed a rotational defenseman. Until Meyer starts posting stats on a regular basis, he has minimal Fantasy appeal.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Islanders D Freddy Meyer, who was limited to 27 appearances last season because of multiple injuries, has been a healthy scratch in five straight games, apparently losing his lineup spot to improving third-year player Jack Hillen.
Analysis: Meyer has three assists in his first eight games and it's not like he isn't being productive. However, his defense has been a little spotty and that's why Hillen is currently playing most nights. Meyer shouldn't be used until he returns to the lineup on a regular basis.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer (groin) was able to play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Oilers. He didn't have a point in 20:58 of ice time, while finishing at minus-1 with two penalty minutes.
Analysis: Meyer's 2008-09 season came to an end early because of a groin injury. He seems past that little speed bump and ready to resume his career. Meyer has offensive ability, but it seems injuries always keep him off the ice. Meyer is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News:Newsday reports that Islanders D Freddy Meyer is likely is done for the season with his groin injury.
Analysis: Meyer has been active for just 27 games this season due to injury. He has posted nine points, but also has an awful minus-19 rating. He is usually a better defender than he has shown. Meyer is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer missed his eighth game on Saturday against the Panthers with a groin injury. He will be out until at least early February.

Analysis: Meyer has been active for just 27 games this season due to injury. He has posted nine points, but also has an awful minus-19 rating. He is usually a better defender than he has shown. Meyer is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer will miss his second straight game with a groin problem when the Rangers visit on Tuesday evening.
Analysis: The oft-injured Meyer has some offensive potential, but he can never stay healthy long enough to make a long-term dent. Until he is a bit more consistent offensively, treat Meyer as a low-end Fantasy option.
News: New York D Freddy Meyer scored twice and added an assist, and the Islanders snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. The Islanders went up 3-1 at 1:57 of the third period. Just after a power play ended, Meyer found a tight hole with a left point slap shot.
Analysis: Meyer now has five points on the season after Saturday's three-point effort. All his points have come in the last four games for the Islanders. The oft-injured Meyer has some offensive potential, but he can never stay healthy long enough to make a long-term dent. Until he is a bit more consistent offensively, treat Meyer as a low-end Fantasy option.
News:Newsday reports that Islanders D Freddy Meyer will return to action Wednesday after almost a month off after hernia surgery.

Analysis: The oft-injured defenseman has some offensive potential, but he can never stay healthy long enough to make a long-term dent. Until he is a bit more consistent offensively, treat Meyer as a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer (abdominal) missed a third consecutive game on Saturday against the Canadiens. He remains day to day.
Analysis: The oft-injured defenseman has some offensive potential, but he can never stay healthy long enough to make a long-term dent. Until he is a bit more consistent offensively, treat Meyer as a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer (abdominal) missed a second straight game Thursday against the Flyers. He remains day to day and questionable for Saturday against the Canadiens.
Analysis: The oft-injured defenseman has some offensive potential, but he can never stay healthy long enough to make a long-term dent. Until he is a bit more consistent offensively, treat Meyer as a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: The Islanders said that defenseman Freddy Meyer sat out Monday against the Rangers due to an abdominal strain that he sustained Saturday against the Hurricanes. He is day to day and questionable for Thursday against the Flyers.
Analysis: Meyer scored a goal and added an assist during Saturday's game against the Hurricanes before getting injured. Meyer had just 12 points, three goals, in 57 games last season. He has never played more than 60 games in a season, and if he can't shake his injury-prone label, he might not make it past 60 again. Meyer had 27 points in 2005-06 with the Flyers, so it's not like he doesn't have offensive potential. But until he is a bit more consistent, treat him as a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer scored a goal and added an assist during Saturday's game against the Hurricanes. New York got on the board at 3:56 of the second period when Meyer let go a 40-foot slap shot that beat Cam Ward.
Analysis: Meyer had just 12 points, three goals, in 57 games last season. He has never played more than 60 games in a season, but since the Islanders are beat up along the blue line, Meyer could have a career season. He had 27 points in 2005-06 with the Flyers, so it's not like he doesn't have offensive potential. But until he is a bit more consistent, treat him as a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer scored a goal and finished at plus-3 during Monday's game against the Sharks. Meyer, who went 73 games without a goal before scoring into an empty net at Toronto last Thursday, beat a goalie for the first time since Nov. 24, 2006. He got a shot from the right circle past Evgeni Nabokov at 11:19 of the third period. "I was just trying to put it on net," the defenseman said. "Get the monkey off my back? I'm just going to try to keep shooting the puck."
Analysis: Meyer extended his points streak to three games. He has two goals, one assists and a plus-5 rating in that span. Meyer has made his way to the second defensive pairing for the Islanders. He does have some offensive potential, as he showed in 2005-06 with the Flyers (27 points). But he has been a disappointing player since joining New York in 2006. He remains a low-end Fantasy flier.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer tallied an assist and finished at even in 19:06 of ice time Monday against the Hurricanes. All three of his points -- all assists -- have come since Jan. 8.
Analysis: Meyer returned to the Islanders in November after they reacquired him from Phoenix off waivers. He didn't play until early December and continues to be used in the lower defensive pairing for New York. He has little to no Fantasy value at this time.
News:The Sports Xchange reports D Freddy Meyer hasn't dressed for any of the Isles' six games since being brought back through reentry waivers from Phoenix on Nov. 10. The Coyotes initially had claimed Meyer on waivers in late October, but the Isles snatched him back when Phoenix tried to recall him from the AHL.
Analysis: After being claimed by the Coyotes, Meyer played five games with Phoenix and eight with the team's San Antonio AHL affiliate. He recorded zero points with the Coyotes. Meyer is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve now that he is back with the Islanders. The fact he has yet to take the ice is not a good sign.
News: The New York Islanders reacquired defenseman Freddy Meyer off waivers from the Coyotes on Saturday after losing him to Phoenix last month. Meyer, scratched from the Islanders' first two games of the season, was placed on waivers Oct. 7 as New York tried to send him to Bridgeport of the AHL to make room for veteran defenseman Bryan Berard. The Coyotes claimed him off waivers the following day.
Analysis: Islanders GM Garth Snow spoke favorably about Meyer. "We've always liked Freddy," Snow said. "He's an intense competitor and he's a very solid defenseman in all areas who is still just 26 years old. We only lost him earlier in the season because of a numbers game. We are very happy to have Freddy back." After being claimed by the Coyotes, Meyer played five games with Phoenix and eight with the team's San Antonio AHL affiliate. He recorded zero points with the Coyotes. Meyer is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve now that he is back with the Islanders.
News: D Freddy Meyer was sent to San Antonio of the AHL on Thursday.
Analysis: Meyer might return at some point, but he is only worth a look in the deepest of Fantasy leagues when in the NHL.
News: The Phoenix Coyotes assigned Freddy Meyer to San Antonio of the AHL on Wednesday. The move was made to make room for Zbynek Michalek (hand), who was activated from injured reserve.
Analysis: Meyer might return at some point, but he is only worth a look in the deepest of Fantasy leagues when in the NHL.
News: The Arizona Republic reports Freddy Meyer, who was recently claimed off waivers from the New York Islanders on Monday, took place in the team's morning skate on Tuesday and paired with Ed Jovanovski. "I really like this kid," general manager Don Maloney said. "He's smart, competitive. He's a little undersized defenseman, but he can move the puck. He's physical, he's smart. The only thing he isn't is 6-foot-5."
Analysis: Meyer might get a new start with the Coyotes for a decent amount of ice time. That was something that was just not happening in New York. He is only worth a look in the deepest of Fantasy leagues at this point, however.
News: Defenseman Freddy Meyer was claimed off waivers by the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday from the New York Islanders. Meyer, scratched from the Islanders' first two games of the season, was placed on waivers Sunday by New York for the purpose of sending him to Bridgeport of the AHL, but he was picked up by the Coyotes before the Monday deadline.
Analysis: In 118 career NHL games, all but 35 spent with Philadelphia, Meyer had eight goals and 27 assists. He was acquired by the Islanders from the Flyers on Dec. 16, 2005, and had three assists in 35 games last season with New York. This move could pave the way for the Islanders to sign veteran defenseman Bryan Berard, who was with the team on a tryout basis during preseason. Meyer just doesn't do enough offensively to warrant picking up outside of larger Fantasy leagues.
News: New York Newsday reports Freddy Meyer IV has been placed on waivers, as the team needed to clear a roster spot for veteran Bryan Berard.
Analysis: If Meyer clears waivers, he'll end up with Bridgeport of the AHL. With Berard's injury history, Meyer will likely be back sooner rather than later.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer (finger) and LW Shawn Bates (sports hernia) both missed Friday's Game 5 quarterfinal playoff loss to the Sabres.
Analysis: Meyer and Bates did not get a chance to play in the 2006-07 postseason as the Islanders were eliminated on Friday.
News: New York Newsday reports Freddy Meyer (finger) remains out indefinitely, although the team is hopeful he can return for the second round of the playoffs if the team can get by the Sabres in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Analysis: Meyer is not worth drafting in postseason Fantasy Hockey pools and he will only be worth a look in the later rounds in deeper Fantasy leagues on Draft Day 2007.
News: Newyorkislanders.com reports Freddy Meyer was unable to practice on Monday due to a broken finger. He will be sidelined indefinitely.
Analysis: The team has recalled Allan Rourke from Bridgeport of the AHL to take his roster spot. Reserve or drop Meyer immediately.
News: Islanders D Freddy Meyer played his first home game since he was acquired from Philadelphia for D Alexei Zhitnik on Dec. 16. Meyer, who missed 10 games with a back injury before returning for three road appearances, logged 15:36 covering 16 shifts.
Analysis: Meyer has very little Fantasy value at this time and should be kept reserved in all Fantasy leagues until he finds his role with the Islanders.
News: Defenseman Alexei Zhitnik was traded by the New York Islanders to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday for defenseman Freddy Meyer and a conditional third-round draft pick. The move gives the Islanders some cap room. Zhitnik has two years and $7 million left on his contract while Meyer will earn just $525,000 this season and next. Zhitnik joined the Islanders last year after playing 10 seasons in Buffalo. He has two goals and 11 points in 30 games this year. Meyer signed with the Flyers in 2003 after going undrafted. In 83 NHL games the past three years, he has eight goals and 32 points. This season, he has two goals and five points in 25 games.
Analysis: Zhitnik best value comes from his fantastic plus-13 rating and his habit for spending a lot of time in the penalty box (40 PIM). He is a useful defenseman in most leagues, but especially in leagues that reward heavily in those two categories. Meyer is a good up-and-coming defeneman with this being his second year full-year in the league out of Boston University. Still, he has only two goals and three assists and that doesn't do much for Fantasy owners at this time.
News: Philadelphia defensemen Randy Jones and Freddy Meyer IV were both scoreless with a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 9-1 loss at Buffalo.
Analysis: After such a beatdown, changes might be afoot in Philadelphia for coach Ken Hitchcock. Jones and Meyer might see their ice time curtailed or cut out completely with Lars Jonsson (ankle) and Mike Rathje (back) nearing a return.
News: Nolan Baumgartner, Derian Hatcher and Freddy Meyer IV were are scoreless in Tuesday's game at N.Y. Rangers.
Analysis: Baumgartner and Hatcher are only worth a look in Fantasy leagues which heavily reward penalty minutes, while Meyer is only useful in larger formats at this time.
News: Freddy Meyer scored a goal with one second remaining in regulation on Wednesday against the Hurricanes to force overtime and help the team to a win in a shootout.
Analysis: Meyer also had three shots on goal in 21:53 of ice time. Despite the fact he had a decent game, he remains an option only in larger Fantasy leagues.
News: Freddy Meyer has four goals, 10 assists and a plus-11 rating through 33 games at the Olympic Games break.
Analysis: Meyer is a decent Fantasy option in all larger leagues, but don't rely on him too heavily even in those formats.
News: Meyer has six points (2G, 4A) in his past seven games.
Analysis: Meyer has only been in the NHL for a couple months now and the return of Joni Pitkanen seems to have helped his production rather than limit it. Consider picking up the rookie in keeper leagues.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports that Joni Pitkanen (abdominal) appears only days away from returning, possibly as early as Thursday. His return would force the Flyers to make some changes on their roster, but who goes? "First of all, we have to find out about [Pitkanen], then we've got to find out who's going to play with who," general manager Bob Clarke said. "And it won't be that long before [Eric] Desjardins is back, so we've got some tough decisions to make."
Analysis: Chris Therien would probably move back into a depth role since he was never signed to be an everyday player this past offseason. He could be waived or benched until they need him again. Or the Flyers will send down young prospects Randy Jones or Freddy Meyer.
News: Freddy Meyer has been recalled from Philadelphia of the AHL on Tuesday.
Analysis: Meyer will replace Joni Pitkanen (abdominal) in the lineup. The youngster might be worth a look in Fantasy leagues if he can grab some ice time on the power play. It remains to be seen what coach Ken Hitchcock will do following Pitkanen's injury.
