Rodney Recalled By Oilers

News: The Oilers have recalled Bryan Rodney from AHL Oklahoma City on an emergency basis, the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis: Bryan Rodney is a depth blueliner for the Oilers' organization, so there's no need to scramble to the waiver wire here in the hopes that he's the next Paul Coffey.

Carolina's Rodney Back to AHL

News: Rodney was sent back to the AHL on Thursday, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: In his three December games with Carolina, Rodney totaled two PIMs and took three shots. Considering he didn't play 10 or more minutes in any of those games, it's unlikely that Rodney will make a fantasy impact in the near future.

Canes Recall Rodney

Canes' Rodney To See Power-Play Time In Season Debut

News: Rodney will be paired with Ian White and used on the power play in his season debut Wednesday against Florida, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: "We'll play him early and we will play him on the power play," coach Paul Maurice said. "If he looks good we'll play him straight through. It's one of those things where they get their chance and if they look comfortable out there, we'll play him." This obviously bodes well for Rodney, who is filling in for an injured Jay Harrison (upper body), but Carolina's man-advantage unit is nothing to be excited about as the team ranks 25th in converting power-play opportunities (14.9 percent).

Hurricanes Recall Rodney

News: Rodney was recalled by Carolina, Raleigh News & Observer writer Chip Alexander reports.
Analysis: Rodney showed a bit of potential late last year, posting an assist in four of his final five NHL games in early April. If he can find that sort of production again, he's definitely worth watching.

Rodney back with Carolina

News: The Hurricanes signed defensemen Brett Carson and Bryan Rodney to one-year contracts Monday. "Brett and Bryan both made tremendous strides last season," Hurricanes assistant GM Jason Karmanos said. "They will both have a chance to push for a spot on the Hurricanes roster this fall."
Analysis: Rodney split the 2008-09 season between Carolina and Albany of the AHL. He posted two assists in eight games with the Hurricanes and 36 points (three goals) in 58 games with Albany. Rodney has really developed as a puck-moving defender, but until he gets a full-time shot in the NHL he has little to no Fantasy appeal.

Rodney sent back to AHL

News: The Hurricanes sent D Bryan Rodney to Albany of the AHL Sunday. He appeared in two games for Carolina, recording no points and a plus-1 rating.

Hurricanes put Kaberle on IR

News: The Raleigh News & Observer reports the Hurricanes have placed D Frantisek Kaberle on injured reserve and have called up D Bryan Rodney from the Albany River Rats (AHL).
Analysis: Injuries have really sidetracked Kaberle's career the last few seasons and it doesn't appear his 2008-09 season is in much better shape. He has the ability to contribute in Fantasy when healthy, but isn't worth wasting a roster spot on while on IR. Rodney has no Fantasy value.
