Pens' Crosby Hits 20-Goal Mark Wednesday

News: The power-play goal -- Sidney Crosby's eighth of the campaign -- also stood up as the game-winning goal in a 4-3 win against the Capitals on Wednesday.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby has strung together a modest three-game point streak (1G, 3A), giving him 62 points in 57 contests. He entered Wednesday's tilt with the loweet full-season shooting percentage (11.1 percent) of his career and below his career mark of 14.5 percent.

Pens' Crosby Picking Up The Pace

News: Sidney Crosby tallied a pair of assists Sunday -- including one on the power play -- and compiled a plus-2 rating against the Panthers.
Analysis: The two-assist effort was his first in 18 games. Despite the inconsistent production, Sidney Crosby is only three points off the league lead in points with 61 (19G, 42A).

Crosby Regaining Some Power For Pens

News: Sidney Crosby recorded his first power-play assist in 10 games Saturday night against St. Louis.
Analysis: The center also nearly tallied a power-play goal, but an eight-minute review failed to show clear evidence that the puck crossed the goal line. Sidney Crosby had been held pointless in five of his last six contests. After the game, he noted that he jammed his wrist Friday in a fight with Brandon Dubinsky but said it didn't hinder his play against the Blues. Crosby finished the contest with five shots on goal.

Pens' Crosby Fights To A Draw Thursday

News: Sidney Crosby recorded his seventh career fighting major Thursday, squaring off against the Blue Jackets' Brandon Dubinsky.
Analysis: Neither player was injured in the skirmish, but the fight illustrated Sidney Crosby's recent frustration. He failed to point against Columbus and has points in just one of his last six contests. Pittsburgh is 2-5 all-time in games Crosby registers a fighting major.

Pens' Crosby Looking For Paydirt

News: Sidney Crosby was held pointless for the 23rd time in 53 games Tuesday.
Analysis: He was credited with two shots on goal, but passed up numerous good looks during a late third-period power play. Sidney Crosby has scored five goals and 17 points in 11 career games against Columbus, the Pens' opponent at Consol Energy Center on Thursday.

Pens' Crosby Pots Two In Shootout Win

News: Sidney Crosby scored a pair of goals Thursday in a shootout victory over Ottawa.
Analysis: He'd been held off the scoresheet twice in a row after ending his goal-scoring slump, but got back on the horse in this one, though it was a bit of a mixed bag, as he lost 15 of his 23 faceoffs. Still, his scoring should keep picking up as the season intensifies in its final stages.

Pens' Crosby Breaks Out of Goal Scoring Slump

News: Sidney Crosby collected two goals and an assist Friday, leading the Pens to a 4-0 win against the Flames.
Analysis: Prior to Friday, the centerman had scored just six times in 27 games. For only the second time since Nov. 8 the Pens fielded the same line in back-to-back games and the line of Sidney Crosby, David Perron and Chris Kunitz paid dividends. Expect to see the trio skate again Saturday in Vancouver. Crosby now has 17 goals and 56 points in 48 games, two points off the scoring lead.

Pens' Crosby Still Shooting For A Goal

News: Sidney Crosby picked up his 38th assist Wednesday, second-most in the league behind Jakub Voracek's 41 helpers.
Analysis: He has just six goals in his last 27 games and 30 points in his last 34. Fantasy owners will need to wait another game for a breakout -- Sidney Crosby has just two points in his last six contests. On the plus side, he did win 10 of 15 faceoffs, his best showing since Dec. 2, when he won 14 of 21 against the Devils.

Pens' Crosby Ends Point Slump Friday

News: Sidney Crosby snapped a three-game pointless streak with a power-play assist Friday.
Analysis: He narrowly missed scoring after skidding a backhander off the far post and was also denied on a nifty deflection attempt by New Jersey netminder, Corey Schneider. Sidney Crosby was in jeopardy of falling into a four-game point slump for the first time since 2009. The assist on the man advantage represented just his sixth power-play point in 24 games.

Crosby, Pens Shut Out Wednesday

News: Sidney Crosby was held pointless Wednesday after returning from a lower-body injury.
Analysis: He skated nearly 20 minutes (19:42 TOI), compiling a minus-1 rating with three shots on goal. Sidney Crosby, whose .496 faceoff percentage is the worst since his rookie season, lost 17 of 24 draws. It appears he may still be operating at less than 100 percent.

Pens' Crosby (Lower Body) Will Play Wednesday

News: Sidney Crosby (lower body) will return to the ice for Wednesday's game against the Capitals.
Analysis: A lower-body injury kept Sidney Crosby out of Tuesday's game, but he skated Wednesday morning and said he "felt good." The 27-year-old has 15 goals and 36 assists on the season to go with a plus-7 rating.

Pens' Crosby Skates Again Wednesday

News: Sidney Crosby (lower body) skated again Wednesday morning, but an announcement on his status for the game later in the evening against the Capitals has yet to be revealed, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Since Wednesday's skate was just an optional one for the Penguins after Tuesday's win over the Jets, the media was unable to inquire about Sidney Crosby's availability versus the Capitals. For what it's worth, Crosby was on the ice for about 30 minutes, and indicated he had "felt good" while skating a day earlier. It's possible the Penguins won't provide any updates until the team holds warmups 30 minutes prior to the game's 8:00 ET start time, so Crosby's fantasy owners will surely want to keep track of his situation during that block.

Pens' Crosby Skates Tuesday

News: Sidney Crosby (lower body) skated Tuesday morning.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby won't be eligible to play Tuesday by virtue of his failure to attend NHL All-Star Game festivities, but things seem to be trending positively for the star center. He said he "felt good" during Tuesday's skate and will see how his body responds Wednesday morning before the team renders a decision on his status for that night's game in Washington.

Penguins' Crosby Could Play Wednesday

News: Coach Mike Johnston indicated that there's a chance Sidney Crosby could return to action Wednesday against the Caps, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: In any case, Sidney Crosby -- who has been undergoing treatment for a lower-body injury -- will miss Tuesday night's game against the Jets after sitting out Sunday's All-Star Game.

Pens' Crosby Targeting Wednesday Return

News: Sidney Crosby received an injection for his lower-body injury and is targeting Wednesday as a potential return date, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby won't play in the All-Star Game on Sunday because of the injury, but is looking to return for the team's second game following the break. The Penguins captain has 51 points (15 goals, 36 assists) in 43 games this season, and played 21:57 in Wednesday's game against the Blackhawks. The team has ruled him out for the team's first game after the All-Star break, but the second contest appears to be in play for a potential return.

Pens' Crosby (Lower Body) Out Of All-Star Game

News: Sidney Crosby is dealing with a lower-body injury and will not suit up in Sunday's NHL All-Star Game, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. The Penguins have also ruled him out for their first game of the second half, set for next Tuesday against the Jets.
Analysis: It's almost hard to fathom, but thanks to a slew of untimely injuries, Sidney Crosby has been limited to just one All-Star Game appearance (in 2007) during his illustrious career. The more important note, however, is that it doesn't sound like Crosby is missing the NHL's showcase game merely as a precaution, as he'll be forced to sit out a meaningful regular-season contest for the Penguins. Crosby has apparently been playing through the injury for some time and will require about a week to heal from the injury, according to NHL.com's Shawn Roarke. While it doesn't sound like a long-term absence is in store for the star center, Crosby's unavailability for at least one game puts the Pittsburgh offense in a perilous place. In addition, both Evgeni Malkin (lower body) and Kris Letang (head) are uncertain to be available for the first game out of the break.

Pens' Crosby Kept Off The Board Wednesday

News: Sidney Crosby went pointless for the second straight night Wednesday, though he did ring one off the post behind goalie Corey Crawford.
Analysis: He's registered seven shots on goal the last two games, so he's still active and creating opportunities. Sidney Crosby led all Pittsburgh forwards with 23:06 TOI, more than three minutes over his season average (20:04). He enters the All-Star break with 51 points (15G, 36A) in 43 games.

Pens' Crosby Powering Up

News: Sidney Crosby potted a pair of goals -- including one on the power play -- and added an assist Friday on Long Island.
Analysis: The two power-play points (he also added an assist on the man advantage) matched his total for the previous 18 games. Sidney Crosby now has six points in his last two tilts (2G, 4A) as he enters Sunday's home showdown against the Rangers.

Pens' Crosby Racking Up Helpers

News: Sidney Crosby picked up a hat trick of assists in Tuesday's 7-2 mauling of the Wild.
Analysis: Sure, his goal-scoring pace is way down, but it's hard to complain, considering that Sidney Crosby has largely stayed healthy aside from his bout with the mumps and has accumulated 47 points in 39 games. He's been an assist machine since the turn of the calendar, racking up nine (plus a goal) in five games.

Pens' Crosby One-Times Carey Price Saturday

News: Sidney Crosby scored the overtime game-winner Saturday in a 2-1 victory against Montreal.
Analysis: The goal was Sidney Crosby's 12th of the season and fifth since Oct. 28th, a span of 30 contests. He once again seemed snake-bitten prior to his goal, taking a knee to the groin midway through the third period, too. Crosby's OT winner was his first since Dec. 3, 2013 against the Islanders.

Crosby With First Multipoint Game Since November

News: Sidney Crosby collected four assists Friday, finishing plus-3 in a 6-3 win over the Lightning.
Analysis: He failed to convert on a couple golden scoring opportunities, but it's unlikely fantasy owners are complaining with his numbers against Tampa Bay. It's possible that newcomer David Perron might play with Sidney Crosby -- instead of Nick Spaling -- something that will likely further strengthen Pittsburgh (and Crosby's fantasy numbers). He now has 11 goals and 42 points in 35 games.

Crosby Scores Penguins Lone Goal

News: Sidney Crosby scored his eleventh goal but the Penguins still fell to the Devils on Monday
Analysis: Sidney Crosby isn't quite having the offensive season he has had in the past but with all of the injuries the Pens have suffered this season that shouldn't be all that surprising. Fantasy owners will hope for a big second half from the game's best player.

Big Tuesday Ahead For Pens' Crosby?

News: Sidney Crosby collected an assist and compiled a plus-2 rating Monday night against Florida.
Analysis: He has yet to play against Tampa Bay -- Pittsburgh's opponent Tuesday -- in 2014-15, but recorded four goals and 10 points in three games against the Lightning last season. Sidney Crosby fantasy owners could use a big game from the center, who trails the Flyers' Jakub Voracek in the Art Ross Trophy race, 44 points to 37.

Pens' Crosby Shoots (And Scores) Saturday

News: Sidney Crosby netted his first post-mumps goal and third in 21 games Saturday against Florida.
Analysis: He could've had more if not for Roberto Luongo (and an empty-net near miss). Sidney Crosby's goal was his first since Nov. 24 and his team-high seven shots represent a season high for the centerman. The Panthers' Dave Bolland slashed Crosby's wrist/hand area, but Crosby said after the game that he was fine. Still, it wouldn't be surprising if the team takes X-rays -- just to make sure.

Crosby Returns Thursday For Pens

News: Sidney Crosby returned Thursday following a three-game absence, finishing pointless with three shots on goal in 20:19 TOI.
Analysis: Pens coach Mike Johnston said after the game that Sidney Crosby probably played a couple minutes too many, given his recent quarantined inactivity. The center went 13-9 in the faceoff circle and nearly converted a breakaway courtesy of an Evgeni Malkin flip-pass, but was stopped by goalie Calvin Pickard's glove save. Crosby now has just two goals (and 19 assists) in his last 20 contests.
