Pens' Crosby Ready For Playoffs

News: Sidney Crosby scored two goals and seven points in five games against Columbus in 2013-14.
Analysis: The Penguins captain averaged nearly five shots per game against the Blue Jackets (24 shots in five games). Surprisingly, he finished with just one power-play point on a team which went 6-for-17, but the Pens are healthier now than they've been all season long.

Penguins Rest Crosby

News: Based on warmups, Sidney Crosby is not in Sunday's lineup against the Senators.
Analysis: Unless we hear otherwise, we'll operate under the assumption that Penguins are simply resting Sidney Crosby in advance of the upcoming NHL playoffs.

Pens' Crosby Not At Warmups Sunday

News: Sidney Crosby is not taking part in the Penguins' warmup skate Sunday, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: This may or may not be an indication that the Penguins will rest the Art Ross Trophy winner, but it wouldn't be surprising if they did.

No Guarantee Pens' Crosby Plays Sunday

News: Sidney Crosby tallied an assist, finished plus-2 and took five shots on goal Saturday against the Flyers.
Analysis: He skated more than 26 minutes in the overtime loss. As a result, there's a chance Pittsburgh rests him Sunday night in the meaningless, regular-season finale. He leads the NHL in scoring with 104 points (36G, 68A) and will win the second Art Ross Trophy of his career.

Penguins' Crosby Could Return Wednesday

News: Sidney Crosby (upper body) skated with both the Penguins' first line and the team's first power-play unit Wednesday morning, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby sat out Sunday's game against the Avs, but his on-ice participation Wednesday morning bodes well for his status for the Penguins' evening tilt against the Red Wings.

Pens' Crosby To Play Wednesday

News: Sidney Crosby (upper body) is in the lineup Wednesday night against the Red Wings.
Analysis: After Sidney Crosby missed Sunday's game, there had been some question about his availability for Wednesday, but he skated with the Pens during their morning skate and looks to be good to go. He'll skate alongside Chris Kunitz and Beau Bennett on the Penguins' first line.

Penguins' Crosby Out Sunday

News: Sidney Crosby (upper body) will not play Sunday against the Avs.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby, as well as Chris Kunitz, Olli Maatta and Brooks Orpik will sit Sunday, with the report suggesting that none of the four players' injuries is thought to be long-term in nature.

Sidney Crosby

Pens' Crosby Up To 102 Points After Thursday

News: Sidney Crosby tallied two assists, including one on the power play, in Thursday's 4-2 win against the Jets.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby was beaten up physically for the second straight game, but didn't miss a shift. One Dustin Byfuglien hit, in particular, rocked the Pittsburgh superstar, leading to a retaliatory penalty by Crosby. The league's top player seems to be back on his game -- he's riding a six-game point streak (two goals, six assists) -- after a short lull.

Pens' Crosby Reaches Triple Digits On Tuesday

News: Sidney Crosby tallied an assist on linemate Chris Kunitz's goal Tuesday, giving him an NHL-leading 100 points (36G, 64A).
Analysis: The Pens have six regular-season games remaining, giving Sidney Crosby a shot at reaching his second-best point total (109 points). There is a chance Pittsburgh might rest its captain at some point -- Crosby has played in every one of his team's 76 games.

Penguins' Crosby Tallies Two Goals

News: Sidney Crosby lit the lamp twice on eight shots on goal and was a plus-3 against the Blackhawks on Sunday.
Analysis: That's four games in a row with a point for Sidney Crosby, which isn't surprising, and he's now one point away from another 100-point season.

Pens' Crosby Picks Up 97th Point Friday

News: Sidney Crosby tallied his NHL-leading 63rd assist Friday, giving him a modest three-game point streak.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby gave his fantasy owners a scare Friday when he was seen in obvious pain after taking Brandon Dubinsky slash to his left knee. Following a television timeout, Crosby returned to play and didn't miss a shift.

Crosby Can't Produce On Pens' Power Play Thursday

News: Sidney Crosby tallied a lone assist on five shots in Thursday's home loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby was unable to produce a power-play point despite skating more than 11 minutes on the man advantage. Neither Crosby nor the Penguins are playing particularly well right now, and there's a chance the team could rest its superstar center prior to the postseason.

Pens' Crosby Collects PP Point Tuesday

News: Sidney Crosby tallied a power-play assist Tuesday against the Coyotes.
Analysis: He'd gone pointless on the power play in seven of the last eight games, so Tuesday's point on the man advantage was promising. The Penguins are struggling right now and will look toward the line of Sidney Crosby, Chris Kunitz and Lee Stempniak to get them back on track before the postseason. Crosby leads the NHL with 95 points (34G, 61A) in 72 games.

Pens` Crosby Grabs Trio Of Points Saturday

News: Sidney Crosby opened the Pens' scoring Saturday with his 34th goal of the season, then added a pair of assists in a 4-3 OT defeat of the Lightning.
Analysis: All three of his points came on the man advantage as he and Evgeni Malkin -- who had three power-play points of his own -- broke the Penguins' 1-for-19 PP-slump in a big way against the undisciplined Lightning. Impressively -- even by his standards -- Sidney Crosby has now recorded three points or more in 13 separate games this season, so it's no surprise to see his league-leading point total climb to 94. With 12 games left in the regular season, it will be a treat to see just how close Crosby can come to his career high of 120 points set in his Stanley Cup-winning sophomore season.

Crosby Has Three Points In Pens Win

News: Sidney Crosby had two goals, an assist, seven shots, and a plus-3 rating in a win over Dallas on Tuesday.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby added to his league-leading assist (58) and point (91) totals Tuesday. In the last 12 games he's got six goals, ten assists, and a 3 shot per game average.

Pens' Crosby Practices Tuesday, Looks Good To Go

News: Sidney Crosby is taking part in Pittsburgh's game-day skate Tuesday morning.
Analysis: The Penguins centerman sat out Monday's practice with a maintenance day. Sidney Crosby's linemate, Chris Kunitz, remains day-to-day with a leg injury. For his career, Crosby has seven points (four goals, three assists) in five games against Dallas -- including a fight against former Stars defender, Matt Niskanen. Even though Crosby went pointless at home against Philly on Sunday, he has 43 points in 31 games at Consol Energy Center in 2013-14.

Pens' Crosby Sits Monday With Maintenance Day

News: Sidney Crosby sat out Monday's practice with a maintenance day, the Pens' website reports.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby isn't one to take practices off, making Monday's rest a little bit suspicious. Of course, Pens coach Dan Bylsma likes to rest his veterans and the team did play two games in little more than 24 hours over the weekend.

Pens' Crosby Silent Against Philly

News: Sidney Crosby was held without a point in back-to-back games against Philadelphia over the weekend.
Analysis: He nearly tied Sunday's tilt with a backhander that rang off a post with one second remaining in regulation. Sidney Crosby has scored two goals and eight points in his last eight games. Those numbers would be fine for most players, but the Penguins center has been held pointless in four of those contests.

Crosby Corralled By Philly Saturday

News: Sidney Crosby finished pointless with a minus-3 rating Saturday against the Flyers.
Analysis: Linemate Chris Kunitz was a late scratch. After the first period, Pittsburgh tried pairing Sidney Crosby with Evgeni Malkin, but the Pens couldn't get anything going against a hungry Flyers team.

Pens' Crosby Scores Again Tuesday

News: Sidney Crosby netted his 31st goal of the year Tuesday against the Capitals.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby, who crushed Eric Fehr with an unusually-punishing check, now leads the NHL with 88 points (31G, 57A). The star center has scored two goals in his last two games after totaling two goals in his previous 12 tilts.

Crosby's Three Points Power Pens

News: Sidney Crosby finished with a goal and two assists in Monday's win over the Capitals.
Analysis: Sidney Crosby has saved some of his best production of the season for his games with the Capitals, totaling six points over three contests thus far. Fantasy owners can only hope he continues to thrive when he faces off against Washington on Tuesday, in the second half of a home-and-home series.

Pens' Crosby Assists Thrice In Win

News: Sidney Crosby assisted on all three Pittsburgh goals in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Preds.
Analysis: That's just what he does; the three helpers pushed his total to 54 and untied him with Joe Thornton, who still sits at 51 after a scoreless game Tuesday, for tops in the NHL. And, of course, no one's close to The Kid's 83 points.

Pens' Crosby Collects Two Points Thursday

News: Sidney Crosby collected a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist Thursday against Montreal.
Analysis: The goal on the man advantage was just Sidney Crosby's third in his last 26 games. The two-point night gives him 80 points (29G, 51A) as he marches toward his second Art Ross Trophy and first since he became the only teenager in NHL history to win the scoring race in 2006-07.

Pens' Crosby Nets His Only Goal Of Olympics

News: Sidney Crosby scored his only goal of the Olympics in Sunday's win over Sweden in the gold medal game.
Analysis: It was the second consecutive Olympics in which Sidney Crosby potted a goal in the final game, though his tally in Sochi lacked the drama of his game-winning goal in Vancouver. Though Crosby never really got hot in Sochi despite playing alongside some of the world's premier forward, there's little reason to think he won't continue his high-scoring ways upon rejoining the Penguins after the break.

Pens, Crosby Come Up Short Friday

News: Sidney Crosby tallied a power-play assist Friday while registering a team-high six shots against the Rangers.
Analysis: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist won the battle of Sweden vs. Canada in the shootout, stopping Sidney Crosby's attempt. Crosby compiled three hits Friday against New York, matching his season high. He now has 28 goals and 78 points in 58 games -- and has yet to miss a game. Knock on wood he comes back safely and soundly from Sochi.
