Coyotes' Moss Picks Up Assist In Loss

News: David Moss picked up an assist on the Coyotes' lone goal Saturday in a 2-1 loss to the Ducks. He added one hit in the contest.
Analysis: David Moss finished the season with 12 points in 60 games and a minus-18 rating. Moss came back to the Coyotes on a one-year contract this year and with the Coyotes in re-building mode it seems likely he will move on in the off-season.

Coyotes' Moss Scores In Win

News: David Moss scored his fourth goal of the year Thursday in a 4-3 overtime win over the Sabres. He was plus-2 with two shots in the contest.
Analysis: David Moss has scored three times in the past two games for the Coyotes, which considering he has 10 points on the year, counts as a surprise. Don't let this mini hot streak fool you, Moss hasn't been a consistent scorer in many years and doesn't add enough peripheral stats to make up for it in all but super-deep leagues.

Coyotes' Moss Snaps Off Two Goals

News: David Moss scored his second and third goals of the year -- the latter on the power play -- in Tuesday's 5-4 stunner over Detroit.
Analysis: Well, that was unexpected. The former 20-goal man (back in 2008-09) still has just nine points in 52 games this year, though, so this is more likely a fluke than the beginning of a late-season offensive surge.

Coyotes' Moss Chips In With Assist

News: David Moss recorded an assist in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: David Moss has a mere seven points and a minus-21 rating over 50 games this season. With the Coyotes focusing on improving their odds to land a top selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Moss' rating should only dip further from here, and he won't score enough to make up for it.

Coyotes' Moss Picks Up Assist In Loss

News: David Moss picked up an assist, two PIM and two hits Saturday in a loss to the Red Wings. It was his second consecutive game with a point.
Analysis: David Moss has never been a big point producer, but he's been truly awful this year, with just four points and a minus-19 rating. He almost signed to play in Europe in the offseason, so he may be a candidate to be traded if another team has interest, as the Coyotes are widely expected to move many veterans before the trade deadline.

Coyotes' Moss Finally Scores One

News: Playing in his 29th game of the season, David Moss finally scored his first goal of 2014-15 in Thursday's 2-1 shootout loss to Carolina.
Analysis: It's been truly an awful year for David Moss, who missed a chunk of time with an upper-body injury and has been patently useless when on the ice, with just three points and a minus-19 rating to show for the campaign. Don't rush out to pick him up.

Coyotes Activate Moss

News: David Moss (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Wednesday.
Analysis: As coach Dave Tippett suggested a day earlier, David Moss is set to return to the lineup Thursday against the Predators after he was able to resume practicing this week without any setbacks. He's been skating on the second line with Martin Erat and Martin Hanzal the last two days, but don't expect any stunning numbers from him. Even in healthier seasons, Moss has never reached the 40-point plateau in his eight NHL seasons.

Coyotes' Moss Expected Back Thursday

News: David Moss (upper body) is expected to play Thursday versus the Predators, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Moss participated fully in Tuesday's practice, with coach Dave Tippett stating afterward that he'd be surprised if the winger didn't suit up Thursday. He's expected to enter the lineup on the second line, skating next to Martin Erat and Martin Hanzal.

Coyotes Call Moss Day-To-Day

News: David Moss (upper body) won't play Thursday against the Kings, but is being considered day-to-day at this point, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Moss is practicing and appears to be nearly all the way back from an injury that has kept him out for nearly six weeks. With an extra day of conditioning work, he could be ready to play Saturday versus the Bruins.

Panthers' Moss (Upper Body) To Travel With Team

News: David Moss (upper body) will travel with the team to Edmonton but is doubtful to play Monday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Moss' injury is believed to be in his hand, but has caused him to miss over a month at this point. His return should add a little extra offensive prowess to a Coyotes club averaging just 2.29 G/GP.

Coyotes' Moss Hopes To Practice Next Week

News: David Moss (upper body) is hoping to return to practice next week, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Moss, who is apparently dealing with a hand injury, has resumed stick-handling drills. He is no longer wearing protection on his hand, but he still has a few steps to go before he resumes playing.

Coyotes' Moss Practices

News: David Moss (upper body) practiced with the team in a non-contact jersey Monday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: The winger hasn't suited up since October 23 against the Wild, and is still probably a week or two away from returning. Keep an eye out for David Moss to be cleared for contact before the Coyotes activate him off of IR.

Coyotes' Moss Starts Skating

News: David Moss (upper body) skated on his own after Thursday's practice, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Moss' return to the ice is a step in the right direction, but he'll need to complete a few full practices before the Coyotes would consider activating him from injured reserve.

Coyotes' Moss Placed On Injured Reserve

News: David Moss was placed on injured reserved on Sunday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: This move is not surprising based on the fact that David Moss is listed as week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Moss has struggled to start the season, managing no goals and one assist in six games played for the Coyotes.

Long-Term Absence Could Be In Play For Yotes' Moss

News: David Moss (upper body) appears to be dealing with a long-term injury, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Moss hasn't resumed skating since leaving Thursday's game with the upper-body injury and will face more tests Saturday to receive a clearer diagnosis of his condition. If the tests confirm that Moss' injury is more than a day-to-day concern as expected, look for the Coyotes to place him on injured reserve at some point next week.

Coyotes' Moss Week-To-Week With Upper-Body Injury

News: David Moss is now listed as week-to-week with an upper-body injury, the Coyotes' official site reports.
Analysis: No additional details regarding the nature of the injury were available, but the change in prognosis - from day-to-day to week-to-week - indicates that the ailment is more serious than originally expected. He'll likely be headed for injured reserve.

Coyotes' Moss Leaves With Upper-Body Injury

News: David Moss left Thursday's game with an upper-body injury and will not return.
Analysis: David Moss' reason for leaving the game is unclear beyond the upper body. His status should be updated before the Coyotes' next game Saturday.

Coyotes' Moss Claims First Point

News: David Moss was credited with an assist in Tuesday's shootout loss to the Predators.
Analysis: It was the first point of the season for David Moss, a third-liner who offers only modest contributions on the offensive end. He actually hiked up his shot attempts to a career-best 151 in 79 games last season, but that could prove to be the high-water mark for the 32-year-old.

Coyotes Sign Moss To One-Year Deal

News: David Moss signed a one-year deal with the Coyotes on Friday, Sarah McLellan of The Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Moss had a week to sign with a NHL team after signing with a Swiss team on July 10, and it didn't take long to find one. The 32-year-old winger re-signed with the team he tallied 22 points (eight goals and 14 assists) over 79 games last season.

FA Moss Signs With Swiss Team

News: David Moss signed a two-year contract to play in Switzerland, but he has a one-week out clause to reach an agreement with an NHL team, FOX Sports Midwest's Andy Strickland reports.
Analysis: David Moss will have a week to shop his services around the NHL, and will head to Switzerland if he can't find a deal to his liking. The 32-year-old winger scored 22 points (eight goals) in 79 games with the Coyotes last season.

Coyotes' Moss Scores In Win

News: David Moss scored Sunday in the Coyotes' final game of the season, a win over the Stars. He was plus-1 on the night.
Analysis: Like the Coyotes' win, this was a case of too little, too late. David Moss finishes the season with eight goals and 22 points. An unrestricted free agent this offseason, he may move on from Phoenix.

Coyotes' Moss Likely Back Friday

News: David Moss (lower body) is expected to rejoin the lineup Friday against the Oilers, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: David Moss missed the last three games, but he's slated to skate on the third line with Brandon McMillan and Mike Ribeiro on Friday. Moss took pregame warmups Tuesday, indicating that he was almost able to play.

Coyotes' Moss Out Again Wednesday

News: David Moss (lower body) will not play Wednesday against the Kings, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Moss was able to get on the ice for pregame warmups Tuesday, but evidently wasn't moving around well enough for coach Dave Tippett to feel comfortable with where he was in his recovery. The forward will sit out for the third straight game.

Coyotes' Moss Out Tuesday

News: David Moss (lower body) will not play Tuesday against the Jets, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: David Moss was a game-time decision entering Tuesday and was on the ice for pregame warmups, but didn't see regular duty on a line. In any case, it looks like his lower-body injury isn't anything that will keep him out long. He could slot back in the lineup Friday against the Oilers.
