Bourque Signs With Rangers

News: The Rangers have signed Chris Bourque, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The 5-8, 180-pounder, who has notched eight points in 51 career NHL games, returns to North America after spending time last season with both Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL and EHC Biel in Switzerland. The speedy Chris Bourque bolsters the Rangers' organizational depth up front, though he figures to be ticketed for AHL action out of the gate.

Bruins' Borque Clears Waivers

News: Chris Bourque has officially cleared waivers and will rejoin the Bruins' AHL Affiliate, the Providence Bruins, Darren Dreger of www.tsn.ca reports.
Analysis: Chris Bourque only has four points in 18 games this season. Bourque saw limited time with the Bruins, so he will get more opportunities in the AHL, a place where he totaled 93 points in 73 games last season.

Bruins Waive Bourque

News: The Bruins have placed Chris Bourque on waivers, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Chris Bourque, who was a healthy scratch against Montreal on Sunday, has seen time on the B's third line and power play, but the speedy forward has struggled to find consistency this season, en route to notching four points in 18 games. Assuming he clears waivers, which is no lock, then Bourque will presumably head to AHL Providence.

Bourque Sits For Bruins

News: Chris Bourque was a healthy scratch for the Bruins on Sunday against the Canadiens.
Analysis: The speedy Chris Bourque will take a seat Sunday, with the Bruins deciding to dress gritty vets Shawn Thornton and Jay Pandolfo against the Habs. Bourque, who has four points in 17 games to date, should be back in the lineup soon, but he's had a hard time generating much production in a Boston uniform thus far, despite his wheels.

Bruins' Bourque Not Spotted In Warmups

News: Chris Bourque was not on the ice for warmups prior to Sunday's game against the Canadiens.
Analysis: Whether there's an injury in play here or he's a healthy scratch, it looks like the speedy Chris Bourque won't suit up Sunday against the Habs.

Bruins' Bourque Nets Winner

News: Chris Bourque scored the Bruins' only goal in a 1-0 win over the Leafs on Saturday night.
Analysis: It's his first goal since 2008-09 and his first while wearing the black and gold his father wore. His fantasy value is limited, but it was a nice night for the 26-year-old.

Bruins' Bourque Back In Lineup Saturday

News: Chris Bourque will return to the Boston lineup after being a healthy scratch in Thursday's loss to Buffalo, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: The Bruins took a big hit from the Sabres on Thursday, losing Shawn Thornton (concussion) and Daniel Paille (upper body), so Chris Bourque returns to active duty. He will most likely return to the third line after being replaced on that line by Paille on Thursday.

Bruins' Bourque Scratched Thursday

News: Chris Bourque was a healthy scratch Thursday night, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: Chris Bourque has struggled early on, scoreless and a minus-4 in the six games in which he's appeared. Lane MacDermid filled in for Bourque.

Bourque Makes Regular Season Debut For Bruins

News: Chris Bourque saw 12:46 worth of ice time in the Bruins' 3-1 win over Rangers on Saturday.
Analysis: Chris Bourque, who just missed scoring an empty-netter at the end of the game, saw most of his work on the B's third line, an assignment with modest fantasy upside, though one perhaps supplemented by the possibility that Bourque could see some power play duty going forward.

Bruins' Bourque Solidifies Roster Spot

News: Chris Bourque notched a goal and two assists in Tuesday's scrimmage, a 7-5 loss to AHL Providence, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: Though it was only a scrimmage, the solid effort was probably enough to solidify Chris Bourque's spot on the Bruins' third line to start the season, along with Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley. It's a position that Bourque could hold on to with a strong start to the season, even when Jordan Caron is healthy enough to play. There's also a chance that Bourque could see work with the Bruins' No. 2 power play unit out of the gate, which gives him some utility in deeper formats.

Bruins' Bourque Gets Crack At Third Line Job

News: As the Bruins opened training camp Sunday, Chris Bourque was skating on the team's third line with Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Chris Bourque has a shot to open the season in Benoit Pouliot's old spot on the B's third line, an assignment with modest fantasy upside. Bourque, who scored 28 points in 32 games with AHL Providence during the NHL lockout) seems to be in a solid position to claim the job, which is really the Bruins' only major training camp battle to be decided at this point.

Bruins' Plan To Recall Bourque

News: Chris Bourque is among the players the Bruins plan to recall from AHL Providence to participate in training camp, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: With Jordan Caron ailing at the moment, Chris Bourque -- who is Providence's top scorer with 28 points in 32 games -- has a shot to stick with the big club out of the gate, likely on a line with Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley, assuming he can fend off the likes of Ryan Spooner, Lane MacDermid and Jamie Tardif.

Bruins' Bourque Agrees To Two-Year Deal

News: Chris Bourque, recently acquired in a trade with Washington, agreed to a two-year deal with the Bruins on Friday, Comcast SportsNet reports.
Analysis: Chris Bourque's contract contains a two-way deal in the first year that will likely place him with the Bruins' AHL affiliate in Providence. The second year of the deal is a one-way deal, meaning the team figures to have Bourque in Boston by that point.

Bruins Acquire Ray Bourque's Son

News: Chris Bourque was acquired by the Bruins in exchange for Zach Hamill on Saturday, the Globe and Mail's James Mirtle reports.
Analysis: Chris Bourque lit up the AHL during the 2011-12 season with 93 points in 73 games. He should be ready for the NHL this year, but is not a guarantee to make the Bruins' roster. He doesn't have Zach Hamill's upside, but does have a better track record in the AHL.

Bourque Factors In Caps Win

News: Chris Bourque grabbed three assists in Washington's preseason win over Columbus on Monday.
Analysis: Chris Bourque will need more efforts like this to cement his NHL role. He's played just a handful of games with the Caps as well as a few stints overseas. He's going to have to produce stat lines like Monday's more often to garner much more than a double take due to his last name.

Bourque Signs With Capitals

News: Bourque has signed a one-year contract with the Capitals, The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Though he has big shoes to fill as the son of Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque, little Bourque has shown that he is a quality player in his own right. The 25-year-old winger was actually drafted by the Capitals in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, having amassed 302 points (105 G, 197 A) between AHL Portland/Hershey over a six-year span. Additionally, he's totaled 33 games at the NHL level between the Capitals and Penguins, followed by international play in the KHL and Swiss-A leagues in 2010-11.

Bourque, Alzner called up by Caps

News: The Washington Post reports that LW Chris Bourque and D Karl Alzner have been recalled from the AHL.
Analysis: Bourque was claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh earlier this season, and is having a nice AHL campaign with 38 points in 25 games. He's pretty much organizational depth though, and has no Fantasy value at this time. Alzner is a solid prospect and long-term keeper option, but is not worth adding in seasonal leagues yet.

Penguins get lines set without Malkin

News: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Penguins coach Dan Bylsma has set his scoring lines for Friday's game at Columbus, the first without Evgeni Malkin. Chris Kunitz, Sidney Crosby and Bill Guerin will remain on the top line, while Jordan Staal, Ruslan Fedotenko and Chris Bourque will be on the second unit. Matt Cooke and Craig Adams will be fixtures on the third line, with Pascal Dupuis, Mike Rupp, Eric Godard and Chris Conner rotating in the final spot.
Analysis: This move really only affects the value of Staal, who will move up into the scoring lines in the place of Malkin. You might want to get Staal active in more than 47 percent of leagues for Fantasy Week 5 (Nov. 2-8). Everyone else retains their original Fantasy value.

Penguins claim Bourque off waivers

News: LW Chris Bourque, the son of Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque, has been claimed on waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Bourque was waived by the Capitals on Tuesday with the intention of assigning him to the minors.
Analysis: Bourque has appeared in 12 games with the Capitals the last two seasons, putting up one goal and no assists. Bourque really had a great year at Hershey (AHL) in 2008-09 with 21 goals and 73 points in 69 games. He then had 21 points (five goals) in 22 games in the playoffs. Bourque is definitely a developing pro, but has little to no Fantasy appeal until he gets a full-time gig somewhere.

C. Bourque sent back to AHL

News: The Capitals sent C Chris Bourque back to the AHL on Friday.
Analysis: Bourque was just recalled by the Capitals Monday and was making his third stint with the team this season. He has been a point-per-game guy this year in the AHL but remains nothing more than a potential long-term Fantasy keeper for the time being.

News: Capitals C Chris Bourque, the son of Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque, netted his first NHL goal during Tuesday's 4-2 win against the Sabres. Bourque made it 2-0 at 9:02 when he converted a big rebound after Ryan Miller kicked out David Steckel's slap shot from the top of the right circle.

News: The Capitals have called up C Chris Bourque and C Graham Mink from Hershey (AHL).
