Two Goals For Stars' Eaves

News: Patrick Eaves potted a pair of goals in Wednesday's 4-0 blanking of the Ducks.
Analysis: With nine points over his last 10 games, Patrick Eaves is closing off his season on a very nice note. He's managed 26 points in 46 games this season and has shown chemistry at times with Dallas' big guns in Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and at times, Jason Spezza.

Stars' Eaves Tallies Four Points In Five Games

News: Patrick Eaves scored the game-winning power-play goal in Monday's 5-1 triumph over the Sharks, giving him four points in the last five games.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves skated on both the top line and top power-play unit in this one, with Jamie Benn and Jason Spezza setting up his score. Injuries have cost Eaves significant time this season, but he's seen frequent use on scoring lines when healthy. He's picked up 12 goals and 12 assists to go along with a plus-7 rating over 45 games.

Back-To-Back Two-Point Games For Stars' Eaves

News: Patrick Eaves netted a goal and an assist in Monday's victory over the Sabres.
Analysis: It's the second consecutive two-point effort for Patrick Eaves, who responded well to a healthy scratch last week against the Penguins. The jump in scoring should allow him to stick on the second line with Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky at least a few games longer, which could give Eaves some intrigue in deeper leagues.

Stars' Eaves Dominant In Victory

News: Patrick Eaves potted his ninth goal of the season, had an assist and fired six shots on goal in Saturday's win over Chicago.
Analysis: A solid all-around game for Patrick Eaves, who skated on a line with Jason Spezza. While he's got four points in his last four games, Eaves often goes extended periods of time without producing and has never surpassed 32 points in his career. He's a decent depth scorer who is valuable in some very deep leagues.

Eaves Tallies Two Points For Stars

News: Patrick Eaves scored a goal, assisted on another and went plus-2 in Thursday's win over Carolina.
Analysis: He'd gone four straight without a point coming in. With 16 points in 34 games, Patrick Eaves is on his best scoring pace since his rookie campaign of 2005-06, but that's not worth much for fantasy purposes. Write this one off as a nice game against one of the journeyman's former teams.

Stars' Eaves Nabs Goal In Return

News: Patrick Eaves (concussion) nabbed a goal in his return to action Sunday against the Ducks.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves was activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game after missing a little over two weeks of action. With Erik Cole shipped to the Red Wings prior to Sunday's game, an opportunity could exist for Eaves to slide back into a top-six role for the Stars.

Stars' Eaves Expected To Be Available Sunday

News: Patrick Eaves (concussion) is expected to be available for Sunday's game against the Ducks, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves completed a full-contact practice with the rest of the Stars on Saturday, which seems to have demonstrated to the coaching staff that the head injury is behind him. The concussion and a broken ankle have limited Eaves to only 28 games this season, but he's been productive in a depth role, netting six goals and 13 points.

Return Won't Come Friday For Stars' Eaves

News: Patrick Eaves (concussion) will not return to action Friday against the Avalanche, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves skated with the team Wednesday and was viewed as a possible option for the Stars' next game, but that changed when he failed to participate in Thursday's practice. It's not clear if a setback with his head injury contributed to his absence, but at the very least, it looks like his activation from IR will have to wait a few more days.

Stars' Eaves Could Play Friday

News: Patrick Eaves (concussion) has resumed skating and could be available for Friday's game against the Avalanche, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: The Stars were bracing for an indefinite absence after Patrick Eaves, who has a lengthy history of concussions, suffered a head injury just under two weeks ago, but it appears he's progressed quickly through the league protocol. If he's able to get in a full practice Thursday, Eaves could be formally activated from IR following Friday's morning skate.

Stars' Eaves Avoids Skull Fracture

News: Coach Lindy Ruff said Patrick Eaves didn't sustain any fractures to his skull after taking a wrist shot to the head in Friday's win over the Panthers, but the forward remains under the concussion protocol, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves, who has dealt with multiple concussions over the course of his career, will face an indefinite return timetable until he's cleared to resume practicing. The Stars have already placed Eaves on injured reserve, calling up Brett Ritchie from AHL Texas to occupy his spot on the 23-man roster.

Stars Place Eaves On IR With Concussion

News: Patrick Eaves (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: The move to injured reserve ensures that Patrick Eaves will miss at least three games with the head injury. It would probably be wise to bet on a lengthier absence for the winger, who has an extensive concussion history. Like Eaves, Tyler Seguin (lower body) and Ales Hemsky (lower body) were also forced to exit Friday's win over the Panthers with injuries and have already been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Avalanche, leaving the team extremely depleted at forward. As a result, the Stars acted quickly to shuttle Eaves to IR, opening up a roster spot for AHL call-up Brett Ritchie.

Stars' Eaves Leaves Game With Head Injury

News: Patrick Eaves was struck in the right side of the head by a wrist shot from defenseman John Klingberg in Friday's win over Florida. He was helped off the ice and did not return.
Analysis: "Patrick Eaves is on the way to the hospital to get x-rays," coach Lindy Ruff said after the game. "He took a pretty good shot there to the head. He has had a previous injury there, so we're fairly concerned with him." Eaves was in considerable pain and had to be helped off the ice. A further update on his status should be provided Saturday, but the forward has already been ruled out for the game later that evening against the Avalanche.

Eaves Grabs Assist In Stars Win

News: Patrick Eaves had an assist, a plus-2 rating, and three shots in Wednesday's win over Boston.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves has been fantastic since returning from injury. In the eight games since his return he has three power-play goals, two assists, an even plus/minus rating, and is averaging 2.88 shots per game. Eaves isn't a world-beater, but he's producing beyond expectations at the moment. Getting top unit power play minutes is a big part of that. As long as he stays on the top unit, he will have value. If you're rostering him, keep an eye on the power play time. His value falls sharply as soon as he's taken off that unit.

Four-Game Point Streak For Stars' Eaves

News: Patrick Eaves scored a power-play goal and had a pair of shots in Tuesday's shootout loss to the Avalanche.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves has been on fire since returning from injury. He's not a player you're looking for much points from, especially after he scored just four goals and nine assists through 64 games over the last two seasons, but he's at least producing for owners for the time being. In the four games since his return, Eaves has three goals and an assist and is averaging three shots per game. He's been playing alongside Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn while also logging solid power-play time with the top unit -- more time than even Jason Spezza.

Dallas' Eaves Posts Assist In Second Game Back

News: Patrick Eaves had an assist and two shots in Thursday's win over the Senators.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves has collected a point in both of the games since he returned from injury. The former 20-goal scorer and first round pick isn't as reliable as he was in his first couple of seasons, but if you're in a deep league it may be worth keeping an eye on him to see if he can keep it up.

Stars Activate Eaves From IR

News: Patrick Eaves (lower body) has been activated from injured reserve and will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Canadiens.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves has missed the Stars' last 21 games with an ankle injury. It sounded like he was ready to play as early as last week, but the Stars took advantage of the All-Star break to get him extra rest. Based on how line rushes were conducted at morning skate, it appears Eaves will join the top trio with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin to start Tuesday's game.

Stars' Eaves Scores In Return

News: Patrick Eaves celebrated his return to the ice Tuesday by potting a power-play goal on six shots over 18 minutes of ice time in a 3-2 loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves had just eight points in 19 games before going down with his latest injury in early December, but he returned to a top-line role alongside stars Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, and that duo assisted on his goal. It'll be a massive boost to Eaves' fantasy value if he can stick with them.

Stars' Eaves To Return On Tuesday

News: Patrick Eaves will return to action for Tuesday's game against the Canadiens, Mark Stepneski of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves, who hasn't played since Dec. 2 with a lower-body injury, was nearing a return last week and is good to go after getting some extra time off over the All-Star break. The 30-year-old, who has eight points through 19 games, should return to his usual role on the team's third or fourth line.

Stars' Eaves (Lower Body) Ready To Play

News: Patrick Eaves (lower body) said Tuesday that he's ready to resume playing, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Any return looks like it will have to wait until after the All-Star break, as Patrick Eaves hasn't been activated in advance of Tuesday's game against the Bruins. Eaves will likely occupy a spot on the Stars' third or fourth line once he formally returns to the lineup.

Stars' Eaves May Return In One Week

News: Patrick Eaves (ankle) should be ready to return to action in about a week, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: It looks like Patrick Eaves will make a return at the six-week mark of the four-to-eight week timetable the Stars established for him. Eaves mentioned that he doesn't believe the ankle injury will affect his speed, so he should be close to 100 percent when he makes his return. Eaves has tallied eight points through 19 games with the Stars this season.

Stars' Eaves (Ankle) Out Four-To-Eight Weeks

News: Patrick Eaves (ankle) will miss four-to-eight weeks but will not require surgery, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves' initial timetable slated him to miss four-to-six weeks but has been extended on the back end to eight. He will likely continue to target a mid-January return date, but the injury could cause him to miss a little longer than first expected.

Stars' Eaves Expected To Miss Four-To-Six Weeks

News: Patrick Eaves suffered a broken ankle Tuesday and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: The Stars previously categorized Patrick Eaves' ailment as a lower-body injury, but this report provides more clarity on his condition. Eaves was placed on IR on Wednesday and will now target a return in mid-January. Curtis McKenzie was called up prior to Thursday's game against the Red Wings to replace Eaves on the 23-man roster.

Stars Place Eaves On IR

News: Patrick Eaves (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves took a shot off his right ankle in Tuesday's loss to the Maple Leafs and was seen sporting crutches after the game. The Stars' quick decision to move Eaves to IR suggests a rather lengthy absence could be in play, but no timetable for his return has been provided.

Stars' Eaves Suffers Lower-Body Injury

News: Patrick Eaves left Tuesday's game against Toronto with an lower-body injury and will not return, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Patrick Eaves took a shot to the right ankle area in the second period of the contest and wasn't able to put much weight on his leg while exiting the ice. The Stars should be able to provide further word on his condition once the medical staff offers their assessment.

Stars' Eaves Looks Ready To Go For Thursday

News: Patrick Eaves (lower body) practiced Wednesday and appears set to reenter the lineup Thursday against the Coyotes, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Coach Lindy Ruff seemed to suggest Tuesday that Patrick Eaves was ready to play, but he ended up sitting out that evening's game against the Hurricanes for precautionary purposes. After serving largely in a fourth-line role for the Red Wings and Predators the last few seasons, the 30-year-old has surprisingly seen occasional duty in the Stars' top six this season. He's produced two goals and five points over his 13 games.
