Prust Lifts Habs To Victory With Goal In Game 1

News: Brandon Prust picked up the game-winning goal Wednesday, as the Canadiens edged the Senators by a final score of 4-3 in Game 1.
Analysis: Brandon Prust's goal contributed to his plus-2 rating in the contest. The Canadian forward is no stranger to postseason play, having made it to the playoffs each year since 2010-11, between the Rangers and Habs.

Habs' Prust Helps Out In Win

News: Brandon Prust handed out two assists -- one shorthanded -- Tuesday in a 3-2 win over Florida.
Analysis: So ends a nine-game skid for Brandon Prust, who now has 16 points on the season. As usual, his main value lies in penalty minutes -- he's spent a bit more than two full hours in the sin bin this season.

Habs' Prust Plays Saturday

News: Brandon Prust (illness) was activated for Saturday's game against New Jersey. He skated 11:17 in a 6-2 win over the Devils.
Analysis: Brandon Prust had missed some practice time this week due to a flu, but was able to go Saturday. He skated on the fourth line.

Habs' Prust Skates Saturday Morning

News: Brandon Prust (illness) participated in the Habs' morning skate, but his status for Saturday's game against the Devils remains unknown, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust took part in line rushes as a member of the fourth trio, which would seemingly indicate that he's ready to play. However, the Canadiens could exercise some precaution and give him another night off to recover from the flu, which knocked him out of Friday's practice. Expect his status to be more clearly discerned during pregame warmups.

Habs' Prust Misses Practice With Flu

News: Brandon Prust missed Friday's practice with the flu, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust has played in every contest this season, but he may be in danger of missing Saturday's game against the Devils. The Habs have a back-to-back this weekend, facing the Bruins on Sunday night.

Habs' Prust Gets Assist

News: Brandon Prust earned an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Stars.
Analysis: The 30-year-old logged 14:57 TOI in the win, his highest total in seven games. Brandon Prust is one of the top agitators on the Habs' roster with 85 PIM on the season, but his meager point totals at the forward spot don't make him relevant in most formats.

Habs' Prust Scores In Win

News: Brandon Prust scored a goal in Saturday night's 4-1 win over the Senators. He was elevated to the second line for the game and had 17:36 of ice time.
Analysis: Brandon Prust, normally a fourth-liner, has been skating on the third and second lines lately. And he's taking advantage of his ice time with more skilled forwards. He has points in three of the last four games.

Habs' Prust Reaches Milestone

News: In the 400th game of his NHL career, Brandon Prust had an assist in Friday night's 6-2 win over Los Angeles. Since causing 27 minutes in penalties against the Sabres on Nov. 28, Prust has more points (three assists) than PIM (two).
Analysis: The 400 games is a remarkable achievement for Brandon Prust, who was a walk-on as a junior with the London Knights and has since agitated his way into a respectable NHL career. Known more as a fourth-line grinder and a pugilist, Prust has worked his way onto the third line with David Desharnais and P.A. Parenteau after recent line changes implemented by head coach Michel Therrien.

Habs' Prust Racks Up 27 PIM In Loss

News: Brandon Prust was tagged for 27 PIM in Friday's loss to the Sabres.
Analysis: Well, at least he is contributing with PIM, because he really isn't doing much else. Through 24 games, Brandon Prust has just one goal and four assists, making him not worth your time in fantasy. His 62 PIM are second most in the NHL, but aside from that, there really isn't much else the third-liner provides.

Habs' Prust Scores First Of Season

News: Brandon Prust scored a goal in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Red Wings.
Analysis: It was the first goal of the season for Brandon Prust and brings his point total to four. At this rate, he likely won't top his career best of 29 points, so while he's a useful winger for the Habs, he doesn't hold a lot of value for fantasy purposes.

Habs' Prust On Third Line

News: Brandon Prust skated on the third line Saturday night and had two assists in a 4-1 win over the Wild. He skated a season 15:20.
Analysis: Head coach Michel Therrien hit on a nice blend of grit, size and offensive skill when he assembled Brandon Prust, Lars Eller and Jiri Sekac on the third line for Saturday's game. Prust has the ability to elevate his game when moved off the fourth line and we imagine this trio will stay together for the immediate future, leaving Rene Bourque in the press box.

Habs' Prust To Rejoin Lineup For Game 6

News: Coach Michel Therrien said Brandon Prust (suspension) would rejoin the lineup for Thursday's Game 6, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust was suspended the previous two games for a hit on the Rangers' Derek Stepan that ended up breaking the forward's jaw. Stepan returned to action in Game 5 with two goals, and it now looks like Therrien will bring Prust back in the fold to provide some added toughness for the Habs.

Canadiens' Prust Suspended Two Games

News: Brandon Prust received a two-game suspension on Friday for his hit on Derek Stepan in Game 3 on Thursday.
Analysis: Brandon Prust didn't receive a penalty for the hit, but did receive a suspension on the play. He also knocked Stepan out for an undisclosed amount of time, and Stepan is probably a player who is a bigger loss to his team than Prust is to his. Prust will be able to rejoin the team should the series reach Game 6.

Habs' Prust May Face League Punishment For Hit

News: Brandon Prust may face discipline from the NHL for his hit on Derek Stepan during Thursday's Game 3 win over the Rangers, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust somehow avoided a penalty on what was quite clearly a late hit. At the very least, the Department of Player Safety figures to take a long look at the play.

Montreal's Prust Returns For Game 1

News: Brandon Prust (upper body) played 20:24 in Wednesday night's win over Tampa Bay in Game 1 of their opening-round playoff series. He had not played since March 18.
Analysis: Brandon Prust looked a little rusty, but he'll get better as the series moves along. He skated on a line with Tomas Plekanec and Brendan Gallagher.

Habs' Prust Will Play Wednesday

News: Brandon Prust (upper body) will return to the lineup for Wednesday's Game 1 against the Lightning, John Lu of TSN reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust hasn't played since March 18, but will draw back into the lineup Wednesday for the start of the playoffs. The winger recorded six goals, seven assists, and 121 PIM in 52 games during the regular season.

Habs' Prust A Game-Time Decision For Wednesday

News: Brandon Prust (upper body) will be a game-time decision for Game 1 of the Habs' playoff series with the Lightning beginning Wednesday, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust was able to take part in Tuesday's practice and skated on a regular line, but it's unclear if he's fully recovered from injury quite yet after missing the final 12 games of the regular season. The team could make a decision on Prust's status for Game 1 at the conclusion of Wednesday's morning skate.

habs' Prust Practices

News: Brandon Prust (upper body) returned to practice Monday, TSN reports.
Analysis: The gritty winger hasn't played since March 18, but did rack up six goals, seven assists, and 121 PIM in 52 games before getting hurt. The team did state that he may not be ready for Game 1 on Wednesday, but it sounds like Brandon Prust will be back at some point during the first round.

Canadiens Hoping To Get Prust Back For Playoffs

News: The Canadiens are hopeful that Brandon Prust (upper body) will be ready to play when the postseason begins next week, John Lu of TSN Montreal reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust has not played since Mar. 18, but he skated the last couple days and did not report any setbacks, so there is a chance he will be ready to go for the Canadiens' first-round series.

Habs' Prust Skates Tuesday

News: Brandon Prust (upper body) skated on his own Tuesday, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: There's a chance Brandon Prust could return in time for the postseason, according to coach Michel Therrien. The forward has missed eight games since suffering the injury.

Habs' Prust (Upper Body) Out For Season

News: Brandon Prust (upper body) will miss the remainder of the 2013-14 season, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust was able to briefly return to action after suffering the upper body injury on Tuesday, but it appears to be more severe than originally anticipated. Prust had racked up just 13 points over 52 games this season before suffering the injury.

Habs Rule Prust Out Thursday

News: Brandon Prust is nursing an upper-body injury and will not be available Thursday against the Blue Jackets, John Lu of TSN Montreal reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust suffered what appeared to be a rib injury Tuesday against the Avalanche, but managed to play on after briefly retreating to the locker room. Although he stayed in and provided a goal and assist for the Habs, it seems he's not quite at optimal health. Coach Michel Therrien will have Prust sit a game to aid his recovery.

Habs' Prust Guts It Out

News: Brandon Prust suffered an upper-body injury in the first period of Tuesday night's win over the Avalanche, but returned to play in the second, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Brandon Prust crashed into the boards and immediately headed to the clinic. Upon his return, he scored a goal and set up another. An upper-body injury, a goal and an assist, that's a new spin on the Gordie Howe hat trick.

Habs' Prust Nets Two Points In Win

News: Brandon Prust scored a goal and assisted on another in Tuesday night's 6-3 win over the Avalanche. He also had two hits and three shots on goal in the win.
Analysis: It was a big night for the fourth line, which was responsible for three goals and went a cumulative plus-8 in a win that spoiled the return of Montreal legend and current Colorado coach Patrick Roy.

Habs' Prust Returns

News: Brandon Prust was activated off injured reserve and played 12:26 in Wednesday night's 4-1 loss to Boston.
Analysis: Brandon Prust had two hits and seven minutes in penalties, which is a good night for him. He skated mostly on the fourth line.
