Buffalo Loans Stuart To AHL

Sabres' Stuart Will Miss At Least One Month

News: Colin Stuart suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday night's 8-3 loss in Pittsburgh, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Fresh up from Rochester (AHL), where Colin Stuart has been on the merry-go-round of call-ups and send-downs, Stuart joins the long laundry list of injured Sabres. Immediate reports were that he'll miss a month at the very least.

Sabres Call Up Stuart Again

News: The Sabres have recalled Colin Stuart, the team's official Twitter page reports.
Analysis: This is the second time Colin Stuart has been called up this week. He isn't worthy of fantasy ownership as he is usually just called up to fill in for an injured player. It's possible that this will be another short stint with the Sabres.

Sabres Recall Stuart

News: Colin Stuart was recalled by the Sabres on Saturday, according to Bill Hoppe of MSG.
Analysis: Colin Stuart gets the call as the Sabres are forced to once again to raid their AHL affiliate after Corey Tropp suffered a concussion in Friday's game against Florida.

Stuart Re-Up With Buffalo

News: The Sabres have signed Stuart to a one-year deal, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Stuart appeared in three games with the Sabres this past season, but he spent the bulk of his time (72 games) with AHL Portland, recording 16 goals and 44 points. He'll reprise his depth forward role with the Sabres this season, with a callup possible if/when injuries hit Buffalo up front.

Sabres Return Stuart to AHL

News: Stuart has been sent back to Portland of the AHL, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: He played in his first three games of the season last week, but with a big gap in the schedule and the Sabres off until Friday, there's time for the team to heal up a couple of minor injuries to its regular forwards.

Colin Stuart: Inks Deal With Sabres

News: Stuart and the Sabres agreed to terms on a one-year contract on Thursday, according to the team's website.
Analysis: Stuart is another piece in what has been a committed effort by the Buffalo organization to deepen their farm system this summer. Stuart will be a hard-nosed forward who is great on the penalty kill for Buffalo's AHL affiliate in Portland, Maine.

Stuart on the move again

News: The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired center Wayne Primeau from the Calgary Flames for defenseman Anton Stralman and forward Colin Stuart. The Maple Leafs will also receive a second-round draft pick in 2011, and Calgary will get a 2012 seventh-round pick in the deal announced Monday.
Analysis: Stuart, 27, was originally acquired by Toronto in a trade with Atlanta on July 1. He scored five goals and added three assists in 33 games with the Thrashers last season. Toronto was in love with Stuart's upside or that's at least what they said when they acquired him. It seems he wasn't off limits. Stuart has never been an elite offensive forward and will pretty much just be a flier in leagues that reward heavily for short-handed stats.

Maple Leafs acquire forward Stuart

News: The Maple Leafs have traded defenseman Pavel Kubina and forward Tim Stapleton to the Thrashers in exchange for defenseman Garnet Exelby and forward Colin Stuart.
Analysis: Stuart had eight goals and five assists in 51 games with the Thrashers the last two seasons. Half of his goals have been short-handed. Toronto loves his upside, but Stuart has never been an elite offensive forward. He will pretty much just be a flier in leagues that reward heavily for short-handed stats.

Stuart has first March goal

News: Thrashers C Colin Stuart scored a goal during Friday's 6-3 loss to the Red Wings. Stuart finished off the scoring with his fourth goal at 19:25 of the third. It was his first goal since Feb. 16.
Analysis: Friday's goal was the first Stuart managed that wasn't a short-handed score. Stuart has been able to stick with Atlanta since late February with his solid penalty-killing skills, but he is needed more for defense that offense. Consider adding Stuart in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for short-handed stats.

Stuart becoming short-handed whiz

News: Thrashers C Colin Stuart scored a goal during Monday's 7-6 shootout win against the Kings. Stuart scored 43 seconds before the second intermission for a 5-3 lead and Atlanta's sixth short-handed goal. Stuart has three goals in his last four games, all short-handed.
Analysis: Stuart was recalled from the minors in early February for his defensive prowess and he has delivered the goods. It appears with his recent strong run in short-handed situations, he will keep a roster spot in Atlanta. Consider adding Stuart in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for short-handed stats.

Stuart has second-career shorty

News: Colin Stuart, Slava Kozlov and Ilya Kovalchuk had the Atlanta goals during a 3-1 win Tuesday against the Lightning. Atlanta tied it at 1 when Stuart scored a short-handed goal with 10:08 left in the period. It was his first goal of the season and second short-handed score of his career.
Analysis: Stuart has been with the team since late January when Jim Slater injured his shoulder. Stuart is nothing more than organizational depth for Atlanta and could be back in the minors shortly. He has little to no Fantasy value.

Stuart in minors after one game

News: The Thrashers sent center Colin Stuart to Chicago of the AHL Sunday. He appeared in just one game Saturday against the Bruins and didn't record a point while finishing at plus-1.
Analysis: Stuart is not a big-time prospect and appears to be just organizational depth for the Thrashers. He has no Fantasy value at this time.

Thrashers add Stuart to roster

News: RW Colin Stuart, the brother of the Boston defenseman Mark, was called up by the Thrashers from Chicago of the AHL on Thursday, but didn't play Friday against the Bruins.
Analysis: Stuart is not a big-time prospect and appears to be just organizational depth for the Thrashers. He has no Fantasy value at this time.

Thrashers send three to AHL

News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Thrashers have sent RW Joey Crabb, C Colin Stuart and D Boris Valabik to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
Analysis: These guys are basically organizational depth and should continue to be ignored in all formats.

Stuart already back in AHL

News: The Sports Xchange reports Thrashers LW Colin Stuart was reassigned to the AHL's Chicago Wolves on Feb. 27 after appearing in one game for the Thrashers following the trade of RW Marian Hossa and LW Pascal Dupuis.
Analysis: Stuart is having a nice start to his NHL career, but keeps bouncing back between the NHL and AHL. The Thrashers don't want to keep him up with the club team unless he can get consistent minutes. He remains just a long-term keeper at this juncture.

Thrashers recall three from AHL

News: Atlanta recalled D Joel Kwiatkowski, LW Colin Stuart and C Bryan Little from Chicago of the AHL Tuesday and all three dressed for the game against Montreal. None of the players recorded a point and they combined to finish at minus-5.
Analysis: Atlanta was busy at the trade deadline Tuesday and had some open roster spots as they wait their new acquisitions. All three of Tuesday's recalls could be back in the AHL very soon. Ignore them in Fantasy leagues at this time.

Stuart returned to Chicago

News: The Sports Xchange reports Atlanta reassigned LW Colin Stuart to its American Hockey League affiliate in Chicago on Feb. 7. Stuart has three goals and two assists in 17 games with Atlanta this season.
Analysis: Stuart is having a nice start to his NHL career, but keeps bouncing back between the NHL and AHL. The Thrashers don't want to keep him up with the club team unless he can get consistent minutes. He remains just a long-term keeper at this juncture.

Thrashers send three back to AHL

News: The Thrashers sent forwards Brett Sterling and Colin Stuart, and D Joel Kwiatkowski back to the AHL's Chicago Wolves on Friday.
Analysis: Sterling and Stuart are promising youngsters worth holding on to in keeper formats, while Kwiatkowski should not take up a roster spot in any league.

Stuart continues fine start to career

News: Thrashers rookie forward Colin Stuart continued the fine start to his NHL career on Sunday night when he tallied a goal and an assist in a 5-2 victory over the slumping Buffalo Sabres. Stuart, called up from the AHL on Dec. 28, now has two assists and two goals in his first five NHL games and made the most of his first opportunity Sunday on a line with Marian Hossa and Eric Perrin.
Analysis: Stuart has quickly established himself as a second-line forward with Atlanta and is making quite a name for himself with this start. He is definitely worth owning in most keeper formats at this time, and should be considered a low-end reserve in regular Fantasy formats. If he continues this pace, however, he will zoom up the rankings in no time.

Stuart off to fast start

News: Thrashers C Colin Stuart's first NHL goal came in just his second career game during a 5-2 loss Monday against the Bruins. Todd White centered a pass from the right circle and Stuart slipped a wrist shot by Tim Thomas at 13:18 of the first period. He tallied an assist in his first career game Saturday against the Bruins.
Analysis: Stuart is having some start to his career. Not only has he managed a point in his first two games, he is also at plus-3. If he keeps this up, the Thrashers will have to throw him more time. For now, he remains a low-end Fantasy reserve.
