Hawks To Scratch Bickell For Game 4

News: Bryan Bickell skated with the projected healthy scratches at Wednesday's morning skate, suggesting he will not play in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Lightning, NHL.com's Dan Rosen reports.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell missed the first two games of the series with an upper-body injury before drawing back in for Game 3. However, it appeared coach Joel Quenneville wasn't confident that Bickell could give the team quality minutes, as he was limited to just 9:53 of ice time in the defeat. Quenneville will opt to shake up his lineup with the Blackhawks facing a 2-1 series deficit, as Kris Versteeg enters back in to replace Bickell on the club's second line.

Hawks' Bickell Back for Game 3

News: Bryan Bickell (upper body) will be in the lineup for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: After various reports about Bryan Bickell having a concussion, he admitted that he had vertigo that kept him out of Games 1 and 2. Bickell said he developed the vertigo symptoms just before the final game of the Western Conference Finals against the Ducks. The power forward only has five assists in the postseason, but his physicality is a needed element in slowing the Bolts' sensational offensive attack.

Blackhawks' Bickell At Morning Skate

News: Bryan Bickell (upper body) is present for Monday's morning skate, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: While he didn't say anything definitive, Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville made comments Sunday suggesting that Bryan Bickell will likely play in Monday's Game 3 against the Lightning. If Bickell rejoins the lineup, Kris Versteeg will likely be the odd man out.

Hawks' Bickell Could Go Monday

News: Bryan Bickell (upper body) is "healthy," and, "could play" in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday, according to head coach Joel Quenneville, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: The exact nature of Bryan Bickell's injury is still unclear, though it's thought that the wing has missed the first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals with a concussion. If he is healthy, we would expect Bickell to skate before Game 3 on Monday, which may help clear up the current situation.

Hawks' Bickell Not Expected To Skate Game 2

News: Bryan Bickell (upper body) is not expected to skate in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday, CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: While Bryan Bickell skated on Friday after missing Game 1 on Wednesday, it is not expected that he was going to be ready Saturday. In addition there is plenty of confusion if Bickell suffered a concussion. Hawks' coach Joel Quenneville told reporters in an ambiguous statement on Friday that Bickell "passed the concussion test because he never had one." Kris Versteeg skated for Bickell in Game 1 and is expected to be in the lineup in Game 2.

Hawks' Bickell Passes Concussion Test

News: Bryan Bickell passed a concussion test and also skated on Friday, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Head coach Joel Quenneville told reporters that Bryan Bickell "passed the concussion test because he never had one." It remains to be seen if he will rejoin the Blackhawks' lineup for Saturday's Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, as Kris Versteeg played quite well in his absence, and Bickell still may not be 100 percent healthy.

Hawks' Bickell (Concussion) Hopeful For Game 2

News: Bryan Bickell has a concussion, but is hopeful to play in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: This at least gets rid of some of the mystery behind Bryan Bickell's injury. If he's feeling good and passes the concussion tests, it seems likely he'll be good to go for Game 2.

Hawks' Bickell (Upper Body) Listed Day-To-Day

News: Bryan Bickell is day-to-day after sitting out of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals with an upper-body injury, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell suffered the initial setback in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. He was close to playing in Game 1, so there is a good possibility he is ready to go for Saturday. His status should be clearer as Game 2 approaches.

Hawks' Bickell (Undisclosed) Out For Game 1

News: Bryan Bickell (undisclosed) will not play in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Lightning on Wednesday, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell suffered an undisclosed injury during Saturday's Game 7 victory over the Ducks but was expected to play Wednesday nonetheless. However, he's apparently still dealing with pain and should be considered day-to-day until further news is released by Chicago ahead of Game 2 on Saturday. In the meantime, Kris Versteeg may be in store for a larger than expected role in Game 1.

Hawks' Bickell "Ready To Go" For Game 1

News: Bryan Bickell is reportedly "fine", and will be ready to play in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against Tampa Bay, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell only had one shift in the second period of Saturday's Game 7 against the Ducks, and did not touch the ice once in the third period. During the game, it wasn't clear whether Bickell was nursing an injury that was keeping him off the ice, or if head coach Joel Quenneville had decided to bench the big-bodied forward. Quenneville was critical of Bickell's physicality in Saturday's Game 7 when speaking to reporters on Monday, so it appears Bickell's lack of ice time was due to poor play rather than an ailment. It's highly unlikely that Bickell will be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, but it remains to be seen how much ice time he'll receive in the matchup.

Hawks' Bickell Dishes Two In Game 4

News: Bryan Bickell handed out a pair of primary assists and went plus-2 with two PIM during Thursday's sweep-completing Game 4 win over the Wild.
Analysis: After going without a point in the final game of the Nashville series and then the first three against Minnesota, it looked like Bryan Bickell had transformed into a purely physical player, but he tallied just one hit Thursday (28 in the series' first three games) while surprisingly showing up on offense. Still, Bickell has only four points (all assists) in these playoffs.

Hawks' Bickell Leads NHL In Hits

News: Bryan Bickell leads the NHL in hits going into Game 3 off the Stanley Cup Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday night.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell has 58 hits through eight games which is overshadowing his lack of scoring in the playoffs which is only two assists. He had 11 hits and 12 hits in Game 1 and 2 respectively against the Wild. Coming into the series with the Wild, Bickell had Minnesota's number In 23 games against the Wild the past three seasons, Bickell has scored 15 goals, 20 points and is a plus-11, but it appears that Hawks' coach Joel Quenneville wants him to take a more physical approach.

Hawks' Bickell Looks To Continue Magic Over Wild

News: Bryan Bickell has been one of the major reasons that the Blackhawks have defeated the Wild the previous two seasons as the Stanley Cup Western Conference semi-final series starts on Friday night, Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: The reason the Blackhawks signed Bryan Bickell to a four-year $16 million contract in 2013 was because of his playoff results and they are looking for that in this series. In 23 games against the Wild the past three seasons, Bickell has scored 15 goals, 20 points and is a plus-11. That includes two stellar playoff performances — seven goals and 10 points in 11 games as the Hawks beat the Wild in five games in 2013 and six games in 2014.

Blackhawks' Bickell Gets First Point Of Playoffs

News: Bryan Bickell registered an assist in Tuesday's triple-overtime win over the Predators.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell has inexplicably turned it on during the last few postseasons to emerge as a quality scorer for the Blackhawks, but he has yet to take off in this series. The assist Tuesday marked his first point of the playoffs, while he's only put up three shots on goal through four games.

Hawks' Bickell Healthy Scratch Wednesday

News: Bryan Bickell was a healthy scratch Wednesday night against the Flyers, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell was previously a healthy scratch March 8 against the Rangers. He probably will be skating Friday against Columbus, but even prior to the healthy scratch, the winger's minutes have been steadily on the decline. He saw just 9:17 of ice time in his previous outing against the Hurricanes on Monday.

Hawks' Bickell Expected To Be Back In Lineup

News: Bryan Bickell is expected to be in the lineup on Thursday after being a healthy scratch the last game for the Blackhawks on Sunday, Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville is hoping that the benching will give Bryan Bickell a little wake-up call. He does have 11 goals and 13 assists in 65 games, but it's a far cry from his 2010-11 season, when he compiled 17 goals and 20 assists in 78 games. Bickell will return to the third line with Brad Richards and Patrick Sharp.

Hawks' Bickell Healthy Scratch Sunday

News: Bryan Bickell will be a healthy scratch on Sunday against the Rangers, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: This is Bryan Bickell's first healthy scratch this season. Bickell has had some ups and downs during the regular season for the last few years, and seems to be in a declining phase at the moment. He does have 11 goals and 13 assists in 65 games, but it's a far cry from his 2010-11 season, when he compiled 17 goals and 20 assists in 78 games. The team can excuse a bland regular season if Bickell can eventually find his form during the Stanley Cup playoffs, which is where he's truly shined the last few seasons.

Blackhawks' Bickell A Likely Scratch Sunday

News: Bryan Bickell is projected to serve as a healthy scratch for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Coach Joel Quenneville wouldn't confirm that Bryan Bickell would sit out Sunday's game, but indicated after Saturday that the winger hasn't been playing well of late. After logging just 10:36 of ice time Friday against the Oilers despite the game going to a shootout, Bickell found himself off of a regular line during Saturday's practice, with Daniel Carcillo replacing him. Bickell's expected absence from the lineup shouldn't be permanent; it would likely just be a measure by Quenneville to light a fire under the veteran.

Blackhawks' Bickell Scores In Loss

News: Bryan Bickell bagged a goal in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: It was a pretty game for the rest of the squad, but Bryan Bickell was able to snap a six game streak without a point in the blowout nonetheless. His offensive production has gone almost completely dry lately, but the point gives him his 11th goal and 24th point of the year, matching the second highest total of his career in both categories.

Blackhawks' Bickell Grabs Two Points

News: Bryan Bickell tallied a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Blues.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell had gone cold after racking up 10 points in a 10 game span, following that up with six straight contests off the scoresheet before snapping out of it with a multi-point effort on Sunday. The 28-year-old has never been much of a scorer, but if he can manage 14 points in the team's final 29 games, the winger will match his career high of 37.

Hawks' Bickell Back In The Lineup

News: Updating a previous report, Bryan Bickell will play Saturday against the Sharks, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Blackhawks' Bickell A Late Scratch

News: Bryan Bickell (undisclosed) will be a scratch for Saturday's matchup with the Sharks, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell has enjoyed a productive month of January (eight points) on the third line for the Blackhawks, but he'll sit out the evening tilt in San Jose. Dennis Rasmussen will move into the lineup to take his place.

Bickell Contributes Two Helpers For 'Hawks

News: Bryan Bickell handed out two assists and went plus-3 in Tuesday's 6-1 dumping of the Coyotes.
Analysis: He continues to clip along at a good pace, with 10 points and a plus-5 rating over his last 10 games. Bryan Bickell had only 11 points in the first 36 games of the season, so this is quite the wakeup; however, he's not likely to continue scoring at such a high rate, especially considering that he rarely sees more than 14 or so minutes of ice time.

Hawks' Bickell Grabs Two Points

News: Bryan Bickell tallied a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Wild.
Analysis: Bryan Bickell's recent promotion to the team's second line with Brad Richards and Patrick Kane has paid off as he's turned in two multi-point efforts in his last three contests. The 28-year-old has 18 points (nine goals) through 43 games, so topping his career-high of 37 could be a challenge, but he should continue to see the scoresheet more often as he gels with his new linemates.
