Avs' Brophey Registers Four Helpers During AHL Game

News: Playing for the AHL Lake Erie Monsters, Bropehy set a club record with four assists Dec. 28 as the Monsters downed the Grand Rapids Griffins 6-5.
Analysis: Evan Brophey, a recent callup by the Avs who did not get any playing time before being sent back down, is currently sixth in team scoring for the Monsters with 16 points (8G, 8A) in 29 games. However, his fantasy upside is currently limited as he projects no higher than a third- or fourth-line player for the Avs.

Avs Recall Brophey

News: The Avs have recalled Evan Brophey from AHL Lake Erie, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: The Avs have also recalled David van Der Gulik from the Monsters, so it's unclear whether Evan Brophey will need to suit up for Thursday's game against San Jose. The Avs have 11 healthy forwards on the roster right now, so Brophey may just be a depth player at this point. He has 12 points (8G, 4A) in 26 games for the Avs' farm club this season.

Brophey Signs With Avalanche

News: Brophey has signed a one-year deal with the Avalanche, reports the team's official site.
Analysis: Brophey spent much of last season with Rockford of the AHL, recording 10 goals and nine assists. Just 24 years old, he could continue to improve and work himself into some playing time.

Blackhawks' Brophy Returned to AHL

News: The Blackhawks have assigned Brophy to Rockford of the AHL.
Analysis: Brophy got into a game Saturday against Columbus, but didn't do anything noteworthy and now, with the Blackhawks off until Wednesday, he'll head back down. If Tomas Kopecky is available for that one, Brophey probably won't be recalled.

Blackhawks Recall Brophey

News: The Blackhawks recalled Brophey from AHL Rockford on Saturday, the Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns reports.
Analysis: Tomas Kopecky is dealing with an injury, which opened up an opportunity for Brophey to contribute. Unless Kopecky's injury proves to be serious, Brophey's stay in Chicago may be short.

'Hawks announce roster cuts

News: The Chicago Blackhawks have returned Adam Berti, Bryan Bickell, Michael Blunden, Mike Brodeur, Evan Brophey, Troy Brouwer, Wade Flaherty, Jim Fahey, Colin Fraser, Jordan Hendry, Adam Hobson, Steve Marr, Pierre Parenteau, Jean-Claude Sawyer and Kris Versteeg to Rockford of the AHL on Sunday.
Analysis: Blunden, Brouwer and Parenteau have bright futures in the NHL, but they are only worth a look in long-term keeper Fantasy formats. Fahey and Flaherty have had time in the NHL before, but they aren't worth a look in seasonal leagues at this point.
