Panthers' Jokinen Scores In Win Sunday

News: Jussi Jokinen scored a power play goal in Sunday's 4-2 victory over the Senators.
Analysis: The team's second leading assister was aggressive all night, tying a season high with six shots on goal and was rewarded for his efforts with a tally on the power play. With the back injury to Nick Bjugstad, players such as Jussi Jokinen will have to step up to fill the void left by the team's leading goal scorer. Jokinen's fantasy value has ticked up over the past week and looks like a strong pickup to close out the season.

Panthers' Jokinen Scores In Loss Tuesday

News: Jussi Jokinen scored for the seventh time this season in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: The goal was Jussi Jokinen's first since Feb. 24, though he's picked up eight assists in that time. Jokinen's 40 points are third on the team and this is the seventh time in his career he's reached the 40-point threshold while racking up 30 or more assists. Jokinen still has some gas in the tank and will need to be an important piece for the Panthers' stretch run. He could be a nice late-season addition for fantasy owners.

Panthers' Jokinen Notches Assist Saturday

News: Jussi Jokinen added an assist n the Panthers' 2-1 shootout victory over the Bruins on Saturday.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen leads the team in assists with 33 with just six goals and is the reverse of Brandon Pirri, who has 17 goals and just two assists. Jokinen's role as a facilitator has been huge for the Panthers as his line-mates have certainly benefitted from Jokinen's distribution. He is an intriguing play in daily leagues and leagues of all sizes as a steady source of assists.

Panthers' Jokinen Tallies Assist In Four Straight

News: Jussi Jokinen picked up an assist in Saturday night's 2-0 win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen picked up another assist on Saturday night, making it four straight games with an assist. He now has seven points (no goals, seven assists) in his last seven games. He now leads the team with 31 assists and his keen passing eye has made him a good fantasy play down the stretch. If he can keep up this production in the team's final run of games, he will be valuable to fantasy owners in any league depth.

Trio Of Assists For Cats' Jokinen

News: Jussi Jokinen dished out three helpers in Saturday's come-from-behind win over the Sabres.
Analysis: The Juice was all over the place in this one, bringing his assist total to 28 on the year. His six goals are way off the 21 he put up last season with Pittsburgh -- which is somewhat expected considering he was surrounded by studs like Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby and James Neal there -- but Jussi Jokinen is just 10 assists shy of his career-best 38 from his rookie season in Dallas, so there's value to be had here. The Panthers are going to need all hands on deck if they hope to catch -- and fend off -- the Boston Bruins for the final playoff spot in the East, so look for Jokinen to play set-up man for leading goal scorer Nick Bjugstad, 17-goal linemate Jimmy Hayes, and maybe even the newly-acquired Jaromir Jagr, who knows a thing or two about scoring with 716 career goals to his credit.

Panthers' Jokinen Scores In Tuesday's Loss

News: Jussi Jokinen found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen has 31 points on the season, but just six goals. After a career year last season where he had 21 goals and 36 assists, Jokinen's point scoring has dropped off dramatically since joining the Panthers. While he has some value in deeper leagues, most nights he is too inconsistent to merit a roster spot unless he goes on a hot streak.

Panthers' Jokinen Gets Two Points In Win Tuesday

News: Jussi Jokinen picked up a power-play goal in the first period and added an assist in the second period in the Panthers' 3-2 win over the Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
Analysis: The goal was Jussi Jokinen's first since Dec. 22 and his first power-play goal of the season. The assist was Jokinen's 25th of the year, which leads the team. His presence on a power-play line gives him more value and is worth a look in deeper leagues as the Panthers continue their playoff push.

Florida's Jokinen Gets Assist In Loss

News: Jussi Jokinen picked up an assist in Monday's loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: The 31-year-old hasn't produced a goal since Dec. 22, and the nine assists he's provided during that drought aren't enough to make up for it. Jussi Jokinen remains off the radar outside of deeper formats.

Panthers' Jokinen Helps On Two

News: Jussi Jokinen assisted on a pair of goals in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen is getting into a little bit of the groove in the new year, picking up four points in his last four games. With 18 assists through 39 contests, the 31-year-old is on pace to challenge his career-high mark of 38 assists from his rookie season though he won't come anywhere close to his personal-best of 30 goals. He's had a decent season with 22 points through 39 games, and could be worthy of consideration in deeper leagues.

Panthers' Jokinen Dishes Out Two Helpers

News: Jussi Jokinen dished out a pair of assists in Sunday's win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen now has 19 points (four goals) in 32 games on the season. Currently skating on the third line, the 31-year-old has been an inconsistent fantasy option thus far, twice going five straight games without recording a point. He's likely to hit the 50-point mark in 2014-15, though, making him a decent play in deeper formats.

Panthers' Jokinen Returns To The Lineup

News: Jussi Jokinen returned to the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jackets. He finished with two shots on goal with a minus-1 rating in 15:08 minutes of ice time.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen was ineffective in his first game back since being out of the lineup with an illness. He also lost his spot on the top power play unit where he has been for the majority of the season. Look for him to get back in the swing of things soon and hopefully work his way back on the No. 1 unit.

Panthers' Jokinen (Illness) Will Travel With Team

News: Jussi Jokinen (illness) is expected to travel with the team for their game against Columbus on Monday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: It seems that Jussi Jokinen is in line to play against the Blue Jackets on Monday, although it won't be official until he takes the ice for the morning skate in Columbus. If for some reason he's still too ill to play, expect Jimmy Hayes to factor into the lineup.

Panthers' Jokinen Likely Out With Flu Friday

News: Jussi Jokinen is battling the flu and is unlikely to play Friday against the Senators, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen wasn't present at Friday's morning skate, so barring a dramatic recovery over the afternoon, it appears that he'll sit out for the first time this season. The veteran winger could probably benefit from the rest in any case, as he's cooled considerably since his hot start in November, going without a point and producing a minus-3 rating over his last four games. Jimmy Hayes figures to rejoin the lineup in Jokinen's place.

Jussi Jokinen, LW, FLA Panthers' Jokinen Pointless In Last Four Games

Jussi Jokinen

Panthers' Jokinen Pointless In Last Four Games

News: Jussi Jokinen has not recorded a single point in his last four games and has only recorded two shots on goal.
Analysis: Although he has gone dry in the last four games, Jussi Jokinen is currently tied for the team lead in points with 12 (2G, 10A). Jokinen has found himself playing on the third line for most of the season, but his value comes on the power play, where he is averaging 2:45 minutes per game. He leads the team with four PP points and is second on the team with 18 PIM. Jokinen's career shooting percentage is 13.1% and this season he is only sitting at 6.5%, therefore his goal scoring totals should increase while his percentages move toward his career average.

Panthers' Jokinen Scores Goal In 5-2 Loss

News: Jussi Jokinen scored a goal, had two penalty minutes, and put five shots on goal in a 5-2 loss to the Kings on Tuesday.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen continued his strong play Tuesday and with the goal, he stretched his point streak to four games. During that span he has one goal and five assists to go along with a plus-4 rating. Leaving Pittsburgh as a free agent, most analysts believed Jokinen would not be able to duplicate his 57 points in 81 games last season because he would not be slotted beside Evgeni Malkin. Jokinen is on pace for 62 points this season and has become a leader on the Panthers instead of playing in the shadows of others.

Panthers' Jokinen Has Another Two-Assist Game

News: Jussi Jokinen dished out two assists for the second straight game in Sunday's win over Anaheim.
Analysis: Since when has being dropped to the third line been a good thing? Jussi Jokinen now has five points -- all assists -- in his last three games, skating with Vincent Trocheck and Jimmy Hayes on the third line. Jokinen still plays on the top power-play unit, and has recorded eleven points (one goal) in 15 games on the season. He's worth a look, as the Panthers are producing all kinds of offense and have gotten points in 10 of their last 12 games.

Jokinen Produces Two Assists In Florida's 4-3 Loss

News: Jussi Jokinen registered two assists -- one on the power play -- and went plus-2 with four shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Since Jussi Jokinen was moved off the top line and starting playing on the third line with Jimmy Hayes and Vincent Trochek two games ago, he has produced three assists with five shots on goal and a plus-3 rating. The newly formed "third" line has been excellent so far and Jokinen is still playing with the top power play unit.

Jokinen Moves To Florida's Third Line In Practice

News: Jussi Jokinen has been moved down to the third line during Monday's practice ahead of Tuesday's game against the Sharks, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen leads the Panthers with six points (1G, 5A) but has gone dry over the last two games with a minus-3 rating. This could be a move to balance out Florida's attack or a message is being sent to Jokinen for the past two games for his mediocre play. Coach Gerard Gallant has been changing the lines often this season, so this stint on the third line could change quickly.

Panthers' Jokinen Scores To Extend Point Streak

News: Jussi Jokinen scored the only goal for Florida -- and his first of the year -- in a 2-1 OT loss against the Bruins Tuesday.
Analysis: Jussi Jokinen's point streak now stands at five games and six points (the goal and five assists). He centered the top line Tuesday because of the injury to Aleksander Barkov. Usually a winger, Jokinen seemed to fit in well between alongside Brad Boyes and Tomas Fleischmann. If Barkov is unable to suit up for the Panthers' next contest, expect Jokinen to play center again. Regardless of his position, he should be in your lineups while he's hot.

Panthers' Jokinen Continues Assist Streak

News: Jussi Jokinen collected a helper in Saturday's win over the Flyers, marking his fourth consecutive game with an assist.
Analysis: It's a only a modest run of production for Jussi Jokinen, but there's value to be had in that in deeper leagues. The 31-year-old winger seems unlikely to surpass the 36 points and plus-12 rating he compiled with a stronger Penguins squad in 2013-14, but his five points and plus-3 rating through nine games with his new squad are certainly nothing to scoff at.

Panthers' Jokinen Nets Pair Of Assists In OT Win

News: Jussi Jokinen had two helpers in an overtime win against Colorado on Tuesday, with the second coming on a game-winning power-play goal.
Analysis: These were Jussi Jokinen's first points of the season. Off to a tough start this year, the Panthers have been mixing their lines almost every game to try to find a formula that works. Jokinen started on the second line with Brandon Pirri and Tomas Fleischmann on Tuesday. When Florida acquired Jokinen in the offseason, they hoped that he could bring them the offensive punch that generated 57 points in 81 games for the Penguins last season, so they'll be looking for him to pick up the pace as the season continues.

Jokinen Signs With Panthers

News: The Panthers have signed Jussi Jokinen to a four-year, $16 million deal, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: The 31-year-old, who racked up 57 points in 81 games with the Penguins this past season, figures to see big minutes up front for a rebuilding Panthers squad this coming season. He'll give the team some much-needed scoring punch following a 2013-14 campaign in which Nick Bjugstad led the squad with a meager 38 points.

Jokinen Scores, But Pens Get Eliminated

News: Jussi Jokinen tallied his seventh goal of the playoffs Tuesday against the Rangers, but it was the Pens' only goal as the dropped Game 7 by a 2-1 margin.
Analysis: Henrik Lundqvist turned away countless spectacular opportunities in this one, with only Jussi Jokinen able to beat him after a bad bounce off a Ranger created a big rebound that the Finnish forward fired home. He finishes the playoffs with 10 points in 13 games after a 57-point regular season.

Pens' Jokinen Stays Red Hot Wednesday

News: Jussi Jokinen ran his playoff point streak to eight games with an even-strength goal against the Rangers in Game 4 on Wednesday.
Analysis: The versatile forward continues to give his team surprising offensive production. Jussi Jokinen has scored six goals and nine points in 10 postseason contests. His longest point streak of the regular season was five games, which he accomplished to close out the schedule in April.

Pens' Jokinen Getting It Done

News: Jussi Jokinen netted a power-play goal Sunday, giving him points in seven of Pittsburgh's eight playoff games.
Analysis: He now has four goals and seven points in the postseason. The Pens haven't moved him down from the second line -- even as the team's health situation has improved, as was speculated. Jussi Jokinen continues to give fantasy owners consistent offensive production.
