Ducks' Wisniewski Out Saturday

News: James Wisniewski will not take the ice Saturday against Winnipeg, the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski was a healthy scratch in game one and will remain out for the second game of the Ducks' series against the Jets. Clayton Stoner and Sami Vatanen are expected to comprise Anaheim's third defensive pairing.

Ducks Make Wisniewski A Healthy Scratch

News: Wisniewksi will be a healthy scratch for Game 1 of the Ducks' first-round playoff series Thursday against the Jets, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski was surprised by coach Bruce Boudreau's choice to sit him, but due to the Ducks' plentiful depth on defense, lineup decisions don't exactly come easy. Still, Wisniewski was thought to be on solid ground for a regular lineup spot given the haul the Ducks gave up at the trade deadline to acquire him (Rene Bourque, William Karlsson, and a 2015 second-round pick), but his mostly unimpressive production post-trade likely factored into the decision to scratch him. Wisniewski, who tallied no goals and five assists in 13 games after his March 2 acquisition, will give way to Clayton Stoner on the Ducks' third defensive pairing.

Ducks' Wisniewski: Points In Three Straight

News: James Wisniewski notched an assist in Sunday's win over the Devils, giving him three straight games with a helper.
Analysis: James Wisniewski had a healthy scratch sprinkled into the streak, but he's nonetheless beginning to make an impact offensively for the Ducks. However, he remains without a goal in his 10 games with the team.

Ducks To Make Wisniewski A Scratch

News: James Wisniewski will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's game against the Bruins, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: After making Cam Fowler a surprise scratch in the Ducks' last game against the Blue Jackets, coach Bruce Boudreau will bump James Wisniewski from the lineup to make room for Fowler's return Thursday. As one of the more high-profile acquisitions at the March 2 trade deadline, it's a bit surprising that Wisniewski will be forced to head to the press box, but the Ducks' growing depth on the blue line likely influenced the decision. Wisniewski hasn't helped matters by performing quietly since arriving in Anaheim, as he's posted zero goals, three assists, and a minus-4 rating over eight games.

Ducks' Wisniewski Adds Helper Tuesday

News: James Wisniewski tallied an assist in his first game back at Nationwide Arena since being traded to the Ducks.
Analysis: Perhaps more important personally for the defenseman, he received a brief tribute video and standing ovation from the Columbus fans. James Wisniewski spent parts of four seasons as a member of the Blue Jackets.

Wisniewski Hits Scoresheet For Ducks

News: James Wisniewski recorded his first point in his second stint as a Duck Sunday night against Nashville.
Analysis: The point must come as a relief for the 9-year veteran, who had gone three games without a point after being traded and returning from a foot injury. James Wisniewski should remain a wait-and-see fantasy option at this point.

Ducks' Wisniewski Iffy For Monday

News: James Wisniewski's (foot) status for Monday's game against the Canucks is uncertain, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Per the report, James Wisniewski's foot injury is less of an issue on that front than the fact that he is still waiting for some of his equipment to be delivered to him following his trade last week, notably his knee brace.

Ducks' Wisniewski (Foot) Playing Monday

News: James Wisniewski (foot) will play Monday against the Canucks.
Analysis: James Wisniewski had an equipment issue earlier in the day, but it appears the situation has been sorted out, and Wisniewski will make his return to action Monday.

Ducks' Wisniewski Expects To Join Team On Road

News: James Wisniewski (foot) expects to rejoin the Ducks on their upcoming three-game road trip, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: The road trip starts with Monday's game in Vancouver and concludes with next Friday's game in Minnesota. James Wisniewski was recently given a timetable of one-to-two weeks, so he's no lock to return before the end of said road trip.

Ducks' Wisniewski Could Be Out 1-To-2 Weeks

News: James Wisniewski is dealing with a bone bruise in his foot and could be out a week or two, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: The Ducks acquired James Wisniewski from the Blue Jackets on Monday just before the 3 p.m. ET deadline, and were likely fully aware of the extent of the blueliner's injury. For what it's worth, Wisniewski said he plans to be ready for the start of the road trip that kicks off next Monday in Vancouver, but he'll have to show that he's fully healthy in practice within the next few days in order for that return date to hold up.

Ducks Acquire Wisniewski In Late Deadline Deal

News: James Wisniewski was traded to the Ducks on Monday along with a 2015 third-round draft pick in exchange for forwards William Karlsson and Rene Bourque and a 2015 second-round draft pick, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski will likely assume a top-four role on defense with his new organization, giving the Ducks an added dose of puck-moving ability on the blue line. The 31-year-old has predictably been unable to replicate last season's 51-point scoring outburst in 2014-15, but he's still been an above-average source of goals and assists for a defenseman. Assuming the foot injury he suffered in Saturday's game against the Penguins doesn't prove too problematic, Wisniewski's fantasy value figures to notice a small uptick with the move, as his placement on a superior Ducks squad should allow his plus/minus mark to recover from its current minus-10 standing.

Ducks' Wisniewski Has Bone Bruise

News: The Blue Jackets diagnosed James Wisniewski's foot injury as a bone bruise prior to dealing him to the Ducks, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Ducks likely wouldn't have been motivated to deal for James Wisniewski had he been dealing with something more serious such as a fracture, so the bone bruise shouldn't be considered a long-term setback. However, it could delay the blueliner's debut with his new team, as it doesn't seem likely at the moment that he'll be ready to suit up for either end of the Ducks' back-to-back set Tuesday against the Coyotes and Wednesday against the Canadiens.

Jackets Examining Wisniewski's Foot

News: James Wisniewski (foot) will be examined Monday after suffering an injury while blocking a shot Sunday night, Aaron Portzine of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Until further details are revealed, consider him day-to-day in advance of Tuesday's game against the Caps. James Wisniewski is a key cog on the Columbus blue line, which would make a lengthy absence particularly damaging if he's found to have suffered any significant damage.

Jackets' Wisniewski Injures Foot

News: James Wisniewski had a sore foot in the aftermath of Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Penguins, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski will be evaluated when the team gets back to Columbus, ahead of Tuesday's game against the Capitals. He scored a power-play goal in Sunday's loss, and the injury didn't affect his ice time. If Wisniewski cannot play Tuesday, Jordan Leopold could join the lineup.

Jackets' Wisniewski Scores In Loss

News: James Wisniewski recorded a power-play goal in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: James Wisniewski has been effective on the power play all season, registering 14 points and picking up all but one of his goals with the man advantage. With the trade deadline imminent, it's possible the defenseman could be moved, but he should continue to be a reliable fantasy option regardless of his team.

Jackets' Wisniewski On The Trade Block

News: As per the terms of his contract, last week the Blue Jackets officially requested a list from James Wisniewski of 10 teams to which he would not accept a trade, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The defenseman has stated publicly that he doesn't want to leave Columbus, and may have crafted his no-trade list to try and make any deal difficult by including any teams who could actually swallow his $5 million cap hit, but it's clear now that Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen is actively looking to move James Wisniewski by Monday's trade deadline.

Jackets' Wisniewski Returns To Lineup

News: James Wisniewski will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Sabres.
Analysis: The Jackets made James Wisniewski a healthy scratch for the first time all season in Sunday's game against the Rangers. It was a curious decision given that the blueliner ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 27 points, but coach Todd Richards has been less pleased with his defensive effort of late. Fortunately for Wisniewski owners, it sounds like his banishment to the press box was just a one-game wake-up call rather than something that will become a permanent arrangement.

Jackets' Wisniewski A Healthy Scratch Sunday

News: James Wisniewski was a surprise scratch on Sunday, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Comments from Blue Jackets' coach Todd Richards seemed to indicate that the move was due to poor recent play from James Wisniewski, but expect the trade rumors to multiply given how far the Jackets are from a playoff spot.

Jackets' Wisniewski Excelling Post-Injury

News: James Wisniewski turned in an active all-around outing in Saturday's loss to the Islanders, finishing with an assist, two PIM, five hits, and three shots on goal.
Analysis: James Wisniewski returned to action Friday against the Flyers after missing the Jackets' previous two games with a lower-body injury. He also picked up an assist in that game, and currently holds a four-game point streak dating back to before he missed time with the ailment. The 30-year-old probably won't ever replicate the surprising 51-point output he achieved last season, but there's still a place for him in most fantasy leagues.

Blue Jackets' Wisniewski To Return Friday

News: James Wisniewski (lower body) will likely make his return Friday against the Flyers, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski participated in Friday's morning skate, working on the third pair alongside Kevin Connauton. Wisniewski's likely return will push Jordan Leopold out of the lineup.

Jackets' Wisniewski Skating On Own

News: James Wisniewski (lower body) resumed skating on his own Wednesday, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Blue Jackets won't play their next game until Friday against the Flyers, but James Wisniewski will probably have to resume practicing with the rest of the team Thursday to have a realistic shot at returning to the lineup over the weekend. The lower-body ailment has kept him unavailable for the Jackets' last two games.

Jackets' Wisniewski Could Return By End Of Week

News: James Wisniewski (lower body) will not play in Monday's game against the Kings, but could return by the end of the week, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski suffered a lower body injury last Friday and while there was initial some hope that it would only hold him out one game, he'll miss his second straight contest with the injury. After Monday's game, Columbus is off until Friday so he'll target a return then against the Flyers.

Blue Jackets' Wisniewski Won't Play Saturday

News: James Wisniewski (undisclosed) will not play Saturday against Ottawa, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski left Friday's game with an undisclosed injury and has already been ruled out for Saturday's matchup. He'll remain in Columbus to be evaluated by the team's medical staff, after which a more detailed report should be available.

Jackets' Wisniewski Breaks Slump With PP Goal

News: James Wisniewski scored a power-play goal -- accounting for the entirety of the Jackets' offense -- in Tuesday's loss to Arizona.
Analysis: He'd gone four straight without a point before breaking out of it in this one. All in all, James Wisniewski's scoring pace has been rather disappointing this year, although he is coming off a solid month of January despite the drought at the end of it.

Jackets' Wisniewski Notches Three-Point Night

News: James Wisniewski scored a power-play goal and added two even-strength assists in Monday's 3-1 win over the Wild.
Analysis: He's picking up his pace, scoring five points with a plus-5 rating over his last four games. James Wisniewski now has a respectable five goals and 22 points in 41 games on the season, but the blueliner is capable of more.
