Jackets' Wisniewski Grabs Two Helpers

News: James Wisniewski picked up a pair of assists, four penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in Thursday's overtime road win against Washington.
Analysis: It's his second straight game on the scoresheet -- following Tuesday's power-play assist against Philadelphia -- after a five-game scoreless drought. With 13 points (seven of them on the power play) and a minus-2 rating in 25 games, he's putting up pretty typical James Wisniewski numbers -- now all he needs to do to really make this a normal season is miss a few more games to injury.

Jackets' Wisniewski Notches Assist Tuesday

News: James Wisniewski picked up an assist in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: He's been picking up the pace recently, scoring two goals with six assists in his last 10 games despite the Blue Jackets' struggles. If he stays healthy, James Wisniewski might be able to take a run at another 50-point season.

Jackets' Wisniewski Strikes Twice On Power Play

News: James Wisniewski scored his first two power-play goals of the season in Friday's win over the Flyers.
Analysis: After recording only two points in his first eight games, James Wisniewski has heated up of late, notching two goals and six points in his last five games. He is a power-play specialist who logs heavy minutes in Columbus, meaning he should be able to deliver consistent offensive production. As long as he remains healthy, which is always a concern with him, Wisniewski should come close to duplicating the success of his career-high 51-point season in 2013-14.

Jackets' Wisniewski Has Three-Assist Night

News: James Wisniewski picked up three assists, including two on the power play, in Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: The Blue Jackets' roster is barely NHL-caliber right now thanks to eight injured regulars plus Jack Johnson serving a suspension, but James Wisniewski's return from a broken finger has at least helped spark the club's power play unit. He'll get you points from the blue line, but be wary of the damage he can do to your plus/minus with the Jackets winless in their last nine games.

Blue Jackets Activate Wisniewski From IR

News: James Wisniewski (finger) was officially activated from injured reserve Thursday, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski's activation was a foregone conclusion after the defenseman announced he was ready to play Friday against the Hurricanes following a successful practice session Thursday. The Blue Jackets will move Ryan Murray (knee) to injured reserve for what is believed to be a short-term deployment, so it shouldn't be long before the team is back at close to full health on the blue line.

Blue Jackets' Wisniewski To Play Friday

News: James Wisniewski (finger) will play Friday, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski is set to return to action after practicing each of the last two days. It's not exactly clear where he will line up Friday with Jack Johnson (suspension) out, but he will likely be part of the Blue Jackets' first or second defensive pairing.

Jackets' Wisniewski Takes Part In Practice

News: James Wisniewski was on the ice for practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Coach Todd Richards seemed pleased with James Wisniewski's performance during the session, noting that the blueliner was able to shoot the puck and take part in some additional drills. With another quality practice on Thursday, he could receive clearance to return to action either Friday against the Hurricanes or Saturday against the Lightning.

Jackets' Wisniewski To Avoid Surgery

News: X-rays on James Wisniewski's broken finger came back negative Tuesday night, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: It appears that James Wisniewski is noticing some healing in the finger and will not require surgery, taking a long-term absence off the table. Wisniewski was initially projected to miss one-to-two weeks after suffering the injury Oct. 28, but because he has yet to resume practicing, it looks like he'll have to settle for the long end of that timetable.

Blue Jackets Place Wisniewski On Injured Reserve

News: The Blue Jackets placed James Wisniewski (finger) on injured reserve Thursday, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski will miss a week or two after breaking his finger Tuesday, so the Blue Jackets placed him on injured reserve to open up a roster spot.

Jackets' Wisniewksi Breaks Finger, Out 1-2 Weeks

News: Wisniewksi has been ruled out for one-to-two weeks after suffering a broken finger in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Senators, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: No team has been bit harder by the injury bug in the first three weeks of the season than the Blue Jackets, who already have five players on injured reserve and also saw key forwards in Artem Anisimov and Nick Foligno exit with injuries over their last two games. Add James Wisniewski's name to the list of the casualties, forcing the Blue Jackets to temporarily replace another top-four defenseman just days after the team welcomed Ryan Murray back from IR. With no goals and three assists through his first nine games, Wisniewski had already been a disappointment for fantasy owners, whose frustration has surely reached its apex with this latest news.

Jackets' Wisniewski Still Searching For First Goal

News: James Wisniewski was held without a point in Sunday's loss to the Kings. He's accumulated no goals and two assists over the Jackets' first eight games.
Analysis: James Wisniewski did fire off a respectable five shots Sunday, but he's continued to feel the harsh effects of regression after supplying a career-best 51 points in his age-30 season. That total was 21 points more than his best mark from any previous campaign, suggesting the breakthrough could be an outlier. Wisniewski should still offer better-than-average production from the blue line this season; just don't expect him to finish eighth among defensemen in scoring again.

Jackets' Wisniewski Dishes Two Assists

News: James Wisniewski recorded two assists, including setting up Nick Foligno for the overtime winner, as the Blue Jackets evened their first round series against the Penguins with a 4-3 victory Wednesday.
Analysis: Those were his first points of the series, as unlike Jack Johnson he's had trouble getting anything going offensively. Coming off a career-best 51 point season, the Jackets could certainly use more production from James Wisniewski if they want to pull off the upset.

Wisniewski Active In Columbus Loss

News: James Wisniewski grabbed an assist in Friday's 4-3 loss to Chicago, giving him five points in the last five games.
Analysis: James Wisniewski is enjoying a rather productive season with 47 points through 70 games and remains the team's top option for scoring on the blue line.

Wisniewski Carries Jackets' Offense Thursday

News: James Wisniewski scored the Jackets' first goal on a power play, then assisted on Brandon Dubinsky's goal in a 2-0 win over Philadelphia on Thursday.
Analysis: There aren't many games left, but James Wisniewski's got a shot at matching his career-high point total of 51, set in 2010-11 with the Habs and Isles. He now has 46 points -- a whopping 25 of them on the power play, and yet he's still managed to go plus-2 on the year.

James Wisniewski

Wisniewski Nets Lone Columbus Goal

News: James Wisniewski scored the only Columbus goal of the evening in Friday's 2-1 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: James Wisniewski's power-play marker represented his fourth point in the last two games, after he snagged three assists in Tuesday's win over Detroit. The veteran has been a bit streaky this season, but he's managed to stay healthy and has produced his best offensive season since 2011-12, when he split time between the Islanders and the Canadiens. Wisniewski has 43 points on the season and figures to factor into whatever scoring Columbus can muster on the power play most nights.

Jackets' Wisniewski Notches Three Helpers

News: James Wisniewski snapped a five-game pointless slump with a three-assist night in Tuesday's win over Detroit.
Analysis: The third one came on an empty-netter, but hey, it's still a hat trick of assists. James Wisniewski had managed just four points in 12 March games entering Tuesday's action, so his fantasy owners have to be thrilled with the breakout night.

Jackets' Wisniewski Tallies Goal Thursday

News: James Wisniewski notched his sixth goal of the season in Thursday's loss to the Sharks.
Analysis: James Wisniewski continues to enjoy an unlikely productive campaign at age 30, as his 39 points with 16 games still left to play are on pace for his career high 51 in 2010-11. He hasn't shown any signs of slowing down since the break, totaling four points in his last seven games.

Jackets' Wisniewski Returns To Practice

News: James Wisniewski (toe) returned to practice Sunday, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski may still be experiencing some slight pain while he looks to get over a broken left pinkie toe, but it's nothing that will cost him any game action. The 30-year-old is enjoying a productive season with a career-best 35 points in only 51 games.

Jackets' Wisniewski Unlikely To Skate This Week

News: James Wisniewski (toe) is unlikely to skate again until next week, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski probably could practice if truly necessary, but with a full week off until game action resumes, the team will give him some further time off to allow his broken pinkie toe to heal up. Look for him back at practice early next week as he prepares to rejoin the lineup for their Feb. 27 game against the Devils.

Jackets' Wisniewski Questionable To Practice

News: James Wisniewski (toe) is questionable to practice this week, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Coach Todd Richards wants to give James Wisniewski some time to let his broken pinkie toe heal after he was forced to play through the injury for the final few games before the break. There's a chance Wisniewski may not be fully recovered when play resumes next week, but once again, it shouldn't prevent him from missing any action.

Jackets' Wisniewski Dealing With Broken Toe

News: The lower-body injury James Wisniewski has been dealing with over the last week is actually a broken pinkie toe, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: He should be fully healthy when the NHL schedule picks back up after the Olympic break, however.

Blue Jackets' Wisniewski Suits Up Thursday

News: James Wisniewski (lower body) is playing in Thursday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: James Wisniewski wasn't expected to miss any time and his status was confirmed right before the opening face-off. He's merely dealing with a bruise, so fantasy owners should probably use him as they normally would. The Blue Jackets face the Sharks in the second game of a back-to-back Friday, before heading into the Olympic break.

Blue Jackets' Wisniewski Misses Practice

News: Though James Wisniewski (lower body) did not practice Wednesday, he is expected to play Thursday against the Kings, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Earlier reports suggested that James Wisniewski could be a game-time decision Thursday, so despite this nugget, his status will still be worth tracking in advance of that contest.

Jackets' Wisniewski A Game-Time Decision Monday

News: James Wisniewski is suffering from a lower-body bruise and will be a game-time decision Monday against the Ducks, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski obtained the injury after blocking a shot late in Saturday's victory over the Panthers. He'll be reevaluated during warmups before a decision on his status is rendered.

Blue Jackets' Wisniewski Active Monday

News: James Wisniewski (lower body) is active for Monday's game against the Ducks, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: James Wisniewski did not miss any time with the bruise and will likely be fine, assuming he makes it through Monday's game without issue.
