Jackets' Bass Out For Season

News: Cody Bass will miss the rest of the season with a left shoulder injury.
Analysis: Count him out of Columbus' plans for the rest of the year, an unfortunately, it's the same left shoulder he badly injured playing for Ottawa a few years ago.

Blue Jackets' Bass Clears Waivers, To Remain With Team

News: Cody Bass cleared waivers but will remain with the Blue Jackets for the time being, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Cody Bass will not be eligible to play, but he will provide an extra practice body for the time being. Since he already cleared waivers, the Blue Jackets can send him straight to the AHL should they need to make a roster move in the near future.

News: The Blue Jackets placed Cody Bass on waivers Wednesday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.

Columbus Signs Bass

News: Bass signed a one-year, two-way contract with Columbus on Monday, Columbus Dispatch writer Aaron Portzline reports.
Analysis: Bass is a penalty machine, but his 15 points (six goals) in 58 AHL games last year indicate that he's not a significant threat to do much else. He's not guaranteed to make an NHL appearance in the 2011-2012 season.

Ottawa Re-Assigns Bass

Sens Call Up Bass From AHL

News: Ottawa recalled Bass from its AHL affiliate in Binghamton on Saturday reports the club's web site.
Analysis: Bass was recently honored with the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award as the AHL's 2010-11 IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. Saturday's recall is a nice gift to Bass who has become a leader down in Binghamton. He'll be integral to the B-Sens' success in the coming playoffs.

Cody Bass

Bass to begin year in minors

News: The Senators have sent center Cody Bass to Binghamton of the AHL to start the season. He was competing for a fourth-line job in camp.
Analysis: Bass has been bouncing around the NHL and AHL the last two seasons when he has been healthy. He has primarily been an enforcer and will only have Fantasy value in leagues that reward heavily for PIM, when up in the NHL.

Bass to compete for fourth-line job

News: The Sports Xchange reports C Cody Bass missed the final 49 games of the 2008-09 season after suffering a shoulder injury and needing surgery. He is expected to compete for a fourth-line job at camp and could help fill a void if the Senators lose tough guy Chris Neil to free agency.
Analysis: Bass has been bouncing around the NHL and AHL the last two seasons when he has been healthy. He has primarily been an enforcer and will only have Fantasy value in leagues that reward heavily for PIM, if he makes the Sens' roster out of camp.

Cody Bass

Bass won't return in 2008-09

News: The Sports Xchange reports Senators C Cody Bass hasn't played for 39 games because of a shoulder injury and is done for the season.
Analysis: Bass has just two goals and two assists in 33 games over the last two seasons. He has been nothing more than a lower-line forward for Ottawa and organizational depth. There is no point holding onto him in Fantasy.

Bass dealing with shoulder injury

News: The Ottawa Sun reports that Senators C Cody Bass hurt his shoulder during a fight against Calgary's Eric Nystrom on Saturday. Bass will be re-evaluated on New Year's Eve.
Analysis: Bass has been up and down from the AHL a few times this season and has zero points in 12 games. He has no Fantasy value, healthy or not.

Cody Bass

Bass returned to Binghamtom (AHL)

News: Senators C Cody Bass was sent back to Binghamtom of the AHL Sunday. He appeared in five December games, recording no points and a minus-1 rating.
Analysis: Bass is just a lower-line enforcer for the Senators when he is on their roster and has little to no Fantasy value since he can't seem to nab a regular spot in the rotation.

Cody Bass

Sens send three to AHL

News: The Senators have assigned D Brian Lee, C Cody Bass and C Zack Smith to Binghamton (AHL).
Analysis: Lee, a former UND star, has potential to be a nice mid-level Fantasy contributor some time down the road, but shouldn't be owned in seasonal leagues right now. Bass and Smith have no Fantasy value.

Bass fights during season debut

News: Senators C Cody Bass made his season debut Thursday against the Canadiens on a line with Nick Foligno and Ilya Zubov. He didn't have a point in 5:34 of ice time and finished at even. He didn't take a shot and got into a fight with Steve Begin.
Analysis: Bass rejoined Ottawa after totaling two points and 37 penalty minutes in 16 games with Binghamton. Bass has never been a top offensive player and more of a checking-line forward in his career. He is only worth a look in leagues that reward heavily for PIM.

Bass swims way back to NHL

News: The Senators have recalled C Cody Bass from Binghamton (AHL).
Analysis: Bass is a 21-year-old center who could have an NHL impact down the line, but isn't worth keeping in any dynasty leagues at this point.

Senators send Bass, Elliott to AHL

News: The Senators assigned G Brian Elliott and C Cody Bass to Binghamton (AHL) on Tuesday.
Analysis: Bass is a 21-year-old center who could have an NHL impact down the line, but isn't worth keeping in any dynasty leagues at this point. Elliott will serve as the Sens' third-string goalie this season and will be the No. 1 in Binghamton. He has some minimal Fantasy value, simply because of the goaltending situation in Ottawa.

Cody Bass

Cody Bass out until late March

News: Senators rookie C Cody Bass is likely out until at least late March after undergoing surgery earlier this month on his shin, according to the Ottawa Citizen. Bass developed an infection caused by the tongue of his skate digging into the skin.
Analysis: This injury just has ouch written all over it. Luckily for Fantasy owners, Bass is primarily used as a checking forward and had no Fantasy value before getting hurt. Continue to ignore him.

Bass scores first NHL goal

News: Senators C Cody Bass scored his first NHL goal during Friday's game against the Sabres. The Senators opened the scoring on Bass' goal three minutes into the game. Andrej Meszaros' wrist shot from the right point first went off Mike Fisher near the right circle before Bass got a piece of it to put it past Ryan Miller. Bass now has two points in his last three games.
Analysis: Bass was recently recalled after being demoted to the minors and it appears as though the Senators might keep him around for a little bit. Bass will likely skate on the checking line or third line while with the Senators, but is merely a low-end Fantasy option while in the pros.

Bass earns much deserved promotion

News: The Sports Xchange reports the Senators recalled Cody Bass from Binghamton (AHL) on Monday, a surprising move in that they did not have an injury at the time. Head coach John Paddock said Bass, a 20-year-old former fourth-round pick, had forced himself into the lineup with his performance when called up before Christmas as an injury fill-in. As it turned out, Bass was needed when Randy Robitaille fell ill with the flu before Tuesday's game against the Capitals.
Analysis: Bass didn't record a point against the Capitals, but he did pick up an assist against the Islanders on Dec. 27 before he was sent back to Binghamton. Bass will likely skate on the checking line or third line while with the Senators, but is merely a low-end Fantasy option while in the pros.

Sens assign six to Binghamton

News: The Ottawa Senators assigned Cody Bass, Danny Bois, Brian Elliott, Jeff Glass, Matt Kinch and Justin Mapletoft to Binghamton of the AHL on Wednesday.
Analysis: None of the players mentioned above are worthy of Fantasy consideration right now.
